How Much Does Double Eyelid Operation Cost in Republic of Korea in AUD?

Double eyelid surgery in South Korea typically costs between AUD $2,929 and AUD $4,743. The total investment depends on the surgical technique, such as the full incision or non-incisional suture method, and the surgeon's expertise. In Australia, the average price for this procedure is AUD $6,835, meaning patients can save approximately 45% by travelling to Seoul. Standard packages often include post-operative medications and follow-up care.

  • Non-incisional method: typically the most affordable option, costing 20–30% less than full incision techniques.
  • Full incision: often requires a higher budget due to the increased complexity of removing excess skin.
  • Ptosis correction: adding muscle adjustment for better eye opening usually increases the base price by 25%.
  • Revision surgery: correcting previous operations typically adds 50–100% to the cost of a primary procedure.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Choosing a specialist often provides better value than just seeking the lowest price. HERSHE Plastic Surgery Korea reports a 94.3% success rate for eyelid procedures, with packages starting around A$2,700 including medications. While basic surgery at Hivom Plastic Surgery Clinic begins approximately A$1,200, complex revisions with experts like Dr. Haewon Yang at INIQUE typically run about A$7,000 due to his experience with 10,000+ procedures.

Data verified by Bookimed as of August 2026, based on patient requests and official quotes from 125 clinics worldwide. Median costs are based on real invoices (2025–2026) and updated monthly. Actual prices may vary.

The surgeon and staff were excellent throughout
My biggest worry going into this was how visible the scars would be after my lower eyelid correction. Even though I’m still in the early stages of healing, the traditional incision lines are already barely noticeable, which is a huge relief. The surgeon and staff were excellent throughout. Based on the care I received and the initial results, I am very pleased with my choice of clinic. Gia my coordinator was lovely and very helpful. Huge thank you to all the medical, nursing and admin staff. 🙏🙏🙏🫰🫰

Now two months after surgery, I am quite happy with the shape of my new eyelids
The medical team members are so friendly and helpful. Although I speak zero Korean, I can sense their passion and empathy, which dramatically reduced my anxiety to go through the surgery. They are very supportive from the right beginning to the end when I left Seoul. And big thanks to the assistance from Yena, who provides detailed before and after care instructions rather than just working as an interpreter. Now two months after surgery, I am quite happy with the shape of my new eyelids. They look much younger and alert.

The support from the team and the surgeon has been unfailing
My biggest fear was that the result would look unnatural. Fortunately, that’s not the case at all. Even though it’s only been 15 days since the operation, my eyes look natural and smooth when I smile, which is very encouraging for the future. My biggest challenge at the moment is that the bruising isn’t fading as quickly as I’d imagined; patience is key. The support from the team and the surgeon has been unfailing. I really understand now why choosing a good surgeon is so important; it made all the difference to my confidence throughout the process.
The medical staff are very professional. They’re always there to listen to you.
I couldn’t find anything negative

the translator Joanne was excellent and very attentive
t was a great experience, the doctor was good, but could have been more attentive. The staff are a little curt when it comes to customer service, but the translator Joanne was excellent and very attentive, there was also a very friendly older nurse. And there were also free therapeutic treatments that I really liked. Now I need to wait for the results to give a real assessment of whether the treatment was really good.

FAQ about Double Eyelid Operation in Republic of Korea

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

How can I find a good clinic for double eyelid surgery in Korea?

Finding a top-tier clinic for double eyelid surgery in South Korea means seeking board-certified specialists over large-scale facilities. Look for surgeons in Gangnam or Apgujeong with Korean Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons (KSPRS) certification who specialise exclusively in oculoplastic procedures.

  • Technique variety: Choose centres offering incisional, non-incisional, and partial methods to suit your skin type.
  • Safety protocols: Opt for clinics with 24-hour CCTV in operating theatres and dedicated anaesthetists.
  • Surgeon experience: Look for doctors like Dr Yootaek Kong, who has performed 8,000+ aesthetic procedures.
  • Credential verification: Ensure surgeons are KSPRS members, such as those at SAERO or AB Plastic Surgery.

Bookimed Expert Insight: High-volume clinics in Seoul often offer tiered pricing based on the surgeon's seniority. Dr Haewon Yang at INIQUE trained at the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. They handle complex revision cases at a higher price point than primary surgeries. This reflects their specialised expertise.

Patient Consensus: Booking three to four in-person consultations in Gangnam on a single day allows for the best comparison of surgical recommendations. Patients often use the GangnamUnni app for local reviews and claim a 7% tax refund at the airport to offset costs.

What should I ask my double eyelid surgeon in Korea?

South Korean surgeons specialise in diverse eyelid techniques, including incisional, non-incisional, and partial methods. Patients should ask about the surgeon's volume of double eyelid operations and their revision policy. They should also confirm whether an anaesthetist remains present throughout the entire outpatient procedure.

  • Surgical method: Ask the surgeon to justify incisional versus non-incisional based on eyelid anatomy.
  • Revision policy: Confirm if future corrections for asymmetry or dissatisfaction are free or discounted.
  • CCTV access: Request confirmation of operating theatre CCTV monitoring to verify that the primary surgeon operates.
  • Ancillary procedures: Determine if ptosis correction or epicanthoplasty is necessary for the desired outcome.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Reviewing surgeon credentials for Australian relevance is vital. Dr Haewon Yang at INIQUE trained at the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. This training gives him a unique understanding of Western-standard medical protocols. It is especially relevant for Australian patients flying to Seoul.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Seoul recommend visiting four to six clinics before deciding. Most advise bringing reference photos. They also advise preparing for mentally challenging swelling during the first five days. Double eyelid operations in South Korea typically require seven days for stitch removal.

What are the main techniques for double eyelid surgery in Korea and how do they differ?

South Korean surgeons primarily use incisional, non-incisional, and partial-incisional techniques for double eyelid surgery. These methods differ in permanence, recovery speed, and their ability to remove excess fat or skin. Specialists often combine these with ptosis correction. This addresses drooping muscles for a refreshed appearance.

  • Non-incisional method: Uses sutures through micro-punctures to create a natural crease without visible scarring.
  • Incisional method: Involves a full cut to remove excess fat and skin for permanent results.
  • Partial incisional: Combines small incisions for fat removal with sutures to minimise healing time.
  • Ptosis correction: Added to surgical plans to strengthen eyelid muscles and fix a sleepy look.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While non-incisional methods are popular for speed, Korean clinics often recommend 5–7 days of hotel recovery even for suture techniques. Data from centres like SAERO and HERSHE shows that including hyperbaric oxygen therapy or specialised wound care helps patients return to daily activities faster than traditional recovery timelines suggest.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Korea often combine crease surgery with epicanthoplasty to open the inner eye corners. Many suggest visiting several clinics in Gangnam to compare surgeon expertise before choosing the more permanent incisional approach.

How long does recovery after double eyelid surgery in Korea take?

Recovery after double eyelid surgery in Korea takes 7 to 10 days for initial social downtime. Swelling peaks within 3 days, but most patients return to public activities by week 2. Final results typically settle in 3 to 6 months as the crease softens into a natural fold.

  • Incisional timeline: Surgical techniques require 7–10 days in Seoul for stitch removal and initial healing.
  • Non-incisional timeline: Suture methods allow a shorter 3–5 day stay. Patients can expect a near-normal appearance by day 14.
  • Activity restrictions: Patients must avoid contact lenses and eye makeup for 3–4 weeks to prevent irritation.
  • Peak swelling: Eyes often appear significantly swollen for 1–3 days. Cold compresses are essential during this period.
  • Full maturation: While functional recovery is fast, internal tissue and scars take 6–12 months to fully heal.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data from top Seoul clinics like SAERO and VG Plastic Surgery shows a trend toward combining surgery with hyperbaric oxygen therapy. This treatment accelerates tissue repair and reduces bruising. Patients using these recovery protocols often report feeling comfortable in public 3–4 days sooner than with standard aftercare.

Patient Consensus: Expect significant swelling initially that can feel mentally taxing. Wearing sunglasses allows for shopping in Gangnam the next day. Many recommend drinking pumpkin juice twice daily to reduce inflammation. Plan for 3 days of total rest before sightseeing.

What is revision double eyelid surgery in Korea?

Revision double eyelid surgery in Korea is a specialist corrective procedure that fixes unsatisfactory results or complications from previous surgeries. Leading Korean surgeons use tissue-preserving techniques. They address issues like asymmetry, scarring, or high, unnatural creases — often called sausage eyes.

  • Technique: Surgeons use two-line cutting (두줄따기) to remove old creases and create new ones.
  • Specific corrections: Doctors address loosened lines, ptosis (droopy eyelids) and thick, indented scar tissue.
  • Clinical expertise: Specialists like Dr Haewon Yang at INIQUE have performed over 10,000 aesthetic procedures.
  • Recovery timeline: Intense swelling and asymmetry peak during days 2–5 with results visible within one month.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Korea offers a unique tissue-preserving approach specifically for revisions. Dr Haewon Yang at INIQUE holds training credentials from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. This is a rare advantage for Australian patients. They can consult a specialist familiar with both Korean techniques and Australasian medical standards.

Patient Consensus: Expect significant swelling and temporary asymmetry during the first week. Patients recommend choosing smaller specialist clinics over large facilities. This provides dedicated care during the stressful recovery phase in Korea.
