Payment and Deposit Terms
This page explains how payment works for treatment booked through Bookimed: how you pay the clinic, when a deposit is required, who receives it, and what happens to it if your plans change.
How Do I Pay for Treatment?
You pay the clinic directly, by card or cash, with no markup added by Bookimed.
You pay the clinic directly, for the treatment itself. Bookimed does not add a markup to the clinic's price. Payment is made at the clinic, usually on arrival, by one of the following:
- credit or debit card (Visa, MasterCard);
- cash;
- a combination of card and cash.
Two things to check with your clinic before you travel:
Can I Pay in Installments?
U.S. residents can pay via Afterpay — four interest-free payments over six weeks, or monthly plans with interest.
If you are a resident of the United States, you may be able to pay in installments through Afterpay, a third-party provider. Two plans are available: four interest-free payments over six weeks, or monthly payments over 6 or 12 months, which carry interest.
Amounts, eligibility, and the interest rate are set by Afterpay, not by us. Not all clinics accept it. Full terms are on our Afterpay page.
How Is My Appointment Confirmed?
Depending on the clinic, your appointment is confirmed with no deposit, a $200/€200 Bookimed deposit, or a clinic deposit of 5–50%.
Whether a deposit is required depends on your clinic. There are three possibilities, and your coordinator will tell you which applies to yours.
Confirmation without a deposit
Some clinics will hold your appointment on copies of your passport and flight tickets, with no prepayment at this stage. You can send these to your coordinator or to the clinic directly.
A Bookimed deposit
Your coordinator may ask you to pay a deposit of $200 or €200 to Bookimed, on the clinic's behalf. When you pay the clinic on arrival, this amount is deducted from your balance.
A clinic deposit
Some clinics require a deposit of their own, typically between 5% and 50% of the total cost, paid directly to the clinic. The clinic confirms your dates once it is received.
Clinics also set their own rules on when a deposit is due — some tie it to your visa application, others to fixing a date in the schedule.
Can I Get a Refund of a Bookimed Deposit?
Yes, if you request it at least 10 calendar days before your scheduled visit; approved refunds are processed within 30 banking days.
To request a refund of a Bookimed deposit, write to bills@bookimed.com.
A Bookimed deposit is refundable if you request it at least 10 calendar days before your scheduled visit to the clinic. If you request it later than that, it is not refundable.
Approved refunds are processed within 30 banking days and returned to the same account or payment method you paid from.
Refunds of a clinic deposit are decided by the clinic, under the terms it set when you paid. We can pass your request on, but the decision is not ours.
What Should I Confirm in Writing Before I Pay?
Deposit terms vary between clinics more than anything else on this page.
Deposit terms vary between clinics more than anything else on this page. Ask your coordinator to confirm all of the following, in writing, before you pay:
- Whether a deposit is required at all, how much, and who it is paid to.
- What happens if you cancel — and how many days before your date that applies.
- What happens if your visa is refused. Clinics differ: some refund in full, some refund part, and some do not refund at all.
- What happens if the clinic moves your date. Ask whether your deposit carries over to the new date and whether your quoted price still stands.
- Who to contact to request a refund.
Keep that confirmation. It is the document you will rely on if plans change.
What Happens If I Am Stopped at the Border?
Contact your coordinator immediately — whether your deposit can be returned depends on the reason and what the clinic already spent preparing for you.
If you are refused entry after paying a deposit, contact your coordinator immediately. Whether the deposit can be returned depends on the reason for the refusal and on what the clinic has already spent preparing for you — some diagnostic agents, for example, are made for one patient and cannot be reused. Ask your coordinator about this before you travel rather than after.
What Is and Is Not Included in My Price?
Your quoted price covers only what's listed in your offer — items like anesthesia, tests, or an interpreter are often charged separately.
The price you are quoted covers what is listed in your offer, and nothing beyond it. Items commonly charged separately include implant materials, anesthesia and use of the operating room, pre-procedure tests, medication, hotel nights, transfers, and an interpreter.
Before you pay, ask your coordinator for a written breakdown of what is and is not included, and what happens if more material is needed than estimated. See Travel Requirements for the questions worth asking.
Who Do I Contact With Questions?
Your coordinator is your first point of contact. For questions about a deposit or a refund: bills@bookimed.com. For anything else: care@bookimed.com.
