How Much Does Revision rhinoplasty Cost in Republic of Korea in AUD?

Revision rhinoplasty in the Republic of Korea typically costs from AUD $3,047 to AUD $12,325. Final pricing depends on surgical complexity, the need for rib cartilage harvesting, and the clinic's location in districts like Gangnam. Patients save around 69% by travelling to Seoul from Australia, where the average cost is AUD $24,234. Most Korean quotes include pre-operative consultations, 3D CT scans, and initial post-op care.

  • Minor revision: typically costs 30–50% less than a full reconstructive procedure.
  • Major reconstruction: may double the base cost when requiring autologous rib cartilage.
  • Gangnam district premium: clinic packages in this central hub often run 20–30% higher.
  • Grafting materials: using donated dermis or synthetic implants usually costs less than harvesting personal cartilage.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While base prices are attractive, high-volume centres like JK Plastic Surgery Center offer superior value through sheer experience, having performed over 85,000 procedures. Australian patients often prefer clinics like SAERO Plastic Surgery or URBAN Plastic Surgery, which provide dedicated multilingual teams. For complex cases, choosing a board-certified specialist like Dr. Im Young Min ensures access to advanced reconstructive techniques often bundled into fixed-price packages.

Data verified by Bookimed as of September 2026, based on patient requests and official quotes from 237 clinics worldwide. Median costs are based on real invoices (2025–2026) and updated monthly. Actual prices may vary.

I would highly recommend this clinic for its quality service and professionalism
I am very pleased with my choice of this clinic. From the very beginning the communication with the clinic staff was fast and of high quality. I chose from 3 clinics. It was in this clinic that I got the best price and quality service before and after the procedure. I had a second rhinoplasty. The doctor did just a jewellery work with my nose. Very carefully, without much interference, he corrected the flaws from the first surgery I had a couple of years ago in Turkey. I am very happy with the result. My nose is now straight and neat. I was also very pleased with the service at the clinic after the operation. I had all the necessary procedures to reduce the swelling immediately after the operation and then during the week I still came a couple of times for procedures, so the recovery took literally a week. Special thanks to the assistant Joan. She was always in touch and very supportive throughout my stay in Korea. I would highly recommend this clinic for its quality service and professionalism.

Seeing the computer imaging of my expected result during the consultation was a key moment
Seeing the computer imaging of my expected result during the consultation was a key moment. The surgeon was direct and honest about what was realistic, and I appreciated that he personally handled both the consultation and the open rhinoplasty surgery for my full nose reshaping. The clinic staff has been easy to reach, and their aftercare guide is clear. I’m still healing. Be prepared for additional expenses like Ubers, hotel, recommended post-op meds, and lots of supplies like gauze, tape, and dry mouth spray. My advice for others is to bring a guardian; the first 3 days are very difficult and you will need help. Also, make sure to coordinate your arrival and departure dates so you don't leave before all your post-op care is finished.
The entire process was very organized, efficient and full of all necessary details. Communication responses are quick. Questions are answered with details and lots of backup information. The coordination between ALL the different departments is fantastic. The Clinic is immaculate. The Doctor is so professional and experienced and he has empathy and confidence. Top-notch all-around. And the Clinic is in a very good location. Everyone makes you feel like you matter and they want to make sure you feel happy and satisfied throughout the entire process.
The only thing is to just communicate more the post-op care during the initial phase. That it’s important to not book a flight home too soon after surgery. And that departure is coordinated based upon the surgery type. Also, a “care” bag that includes an emollient lip balm and dry mouth spray, as well as the gauze and tape needed for rhinoplasty. Having these things would help sooooo much with the recovery. My daughter had to go and buy these things separately and I suffered the first night until she was able to buy these items for me. Other than that —- everything else was just great

FAQ about Revision rhinoplasty in Republic of Korea

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

Does revision rhinoplasty in South Korea hurt more than the first surgery?

Revision rhinoplasty in South Korea is generally no more painful than a primary procedure. However, surgical complexity is higher. Most patients describe the sensation as nasal pressure or congestion rather than sharp pain. Discomfort levels depend largely on whether surgeons use rib cartilage grafting for reconstruction.

  • Surgical planning: Specialists use 3D-CT scanning. At clinics like VG Plastic Surgery, they map internal scar tissue.
  • Anaesthesia nausea: In the first 48 hours, patients often find post-operative nausea more bothersome than surgical site tenderness.
  • Grafting sites: Using rib cartilage usually causes more soreness at the chest than the nose itself.
  • Recovery support: Clinics like Saero Plastic Surgery provide specific treatments to reduce swelling and manage discomfort.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Patients fear "scars on scars". However, several Seoul surgeons, such as Dr Park Young Kyu, focus on closed-approach revisions. This technique avoids external incisions entirely. It often results in less visible swelling. It also leads to a faster return to daily activities than open surgery.

Patient Consensus: Many found their Korean revision surprisingly comfortable with clean incisions and minimal pain. Recovery often feels like a week of heavy congestion. This is especially true when following the surgeon's advice to sleep elevated.

Why choose South Korea for revision rhinoplasty?

South Korea is a global leader for revision rhinoplasty. This is due to its specialised focus on complex nasal reconstruction. Surgeons here manage high volumes of secondary cases. They use 3D-CT scanning to assess damaged tissue and structural deficits before surgery. Facilities like VG Plastic Surgery and SAERO Plastic Surgery offer expert techniques. These include rib cartilage grafting for durable results.

  • Surgical expertise: Specialists often have 20+ years of experience managing difficult secondary cases.
  • Structural imaging: Clinics use 3D-CT scanning to evaluate internal cartilage and plan precise reconstructions.
  • Natural materials: Surgeons specialise in using autologous rib cartilage to rebuild severely contracted noses.
  • Recovery support: Post-operative care includes hyperbaric oxygen and anti-swelling treatments for faster healing.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Many countries offer revision surgery. However, South Korean clinics like URBAN Plastic Surgery maintain 98% satisfaction rates. They do this by involving board-certified otolaryngologists. As a result, functional breathing issues from the first surgery are fixed. The aesthetic shape is corrected at the same time. Combining these specialists is a standard of care in Seoul. It is often an expensive add-on elsewhere.

Patient Consensus: Patients in the Republic of Korea report that swelling reduces significantly within one week. This is due to intensive post-operative care. They appreciate the detailed digital planning. They also value the careful, jewellery-like precision that corrects previous surgical flaws.

What are the most common reasons for revision rhinoplasty in South Korea?

Revision rhinoplasty in South Korea primarily addresses aesthetic dissatisfaction. It also treats displaced silicone implants and structural issues like contracture. Specialists in Seoul clinics, such as VG Plastic Surgery, use 3D-CT scans. These scans identify internal misalignments or breathing obstructions from initial procedures. High-precision techniques often replace artificial materials with autologous rib or ear cartilage.

  • Implant migration: Silicone shifts or becomes visible, requiring removal or replacement with natural tissue.
  • Nasal contracture: Excessive scar tissue causes an upturned pig-nose appearance or hardened nasal skin.
  • Structural failure: Fragile support leads to a collapsed bridge or pinched tip over time.
  • Functional repair: Surgeons fix persistent breathing issues like deviated septa or nasal valve collapses.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Revision rhinoplasty costs from $2,200 to $8,900, which is higher than primary surgery. Data shows that 20+ year veterans focus on minimal interference. One example is Dr. Park Young Kyu at SAERO Plastic Surgery. This careful approach reduces swelling. It often allows international patients to finish follow-up care and recover within 7 days.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Seoul found that using rib cartilage provided better long-term stability than silicone. They appreciated clinics providing daily deswelling treatments, which made the recovery week much more manageable.

What materials are used for revision rhinoplasty in South Korea?

Revision rhinoplasty in South Korea prioritises structural integrity. It uses a combination of autologous tissues and specialised synthetics. Surgeons commonly use rib cartilage for framework reconstruction. The nasal bridge is typically augmented with hand-carved silicone or custom 3D-CT designed implants. This provides a precise fit.

  • Autologous rib cartilage: Provides strong structural support for contracted noses or depleted septal cartilage.
  • Ear cartilage: Used for natural tip shaping and reconstructing the columella or alar rim.
  • Nasal bridge implants: Silicone remains the standard, often custom-carved for a patient's specific facial anatomy.
  • Dermal fat grafts: Harvested from the buttocks to cover thin skin or visible implant edges.
  • Temporal fascia: Scalp tissue used to wrap implants and prevent a shiny nasal appearance.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Many patients expect to use septal cartilage. However, Korean specialists often find it too hardened or depleted from previous surgeries. Clinics like VG Plastic Surgery use 3D-CT scans. These determine the viability of remaining tissue before the first incision. If the septum is unusable, surgeons transition to donated rib cartilage. This avoids additional scarring while still providing the necessary height for the bridge base.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Seoul mention that recovery is manageable within seven days. This is due to specialised post-operative swelling treatments. Many felt relieved after choosing hand-carved silicone over 3D-printed options. These provide a more natural and cost-effective result.

When should I have revision rhinoplasty after my initial surgery in South Korea?

Revision rhinoplasty in South Korea requires waiting 6 to 12 months after the initial surgery. This timeframe allows internal swelling to resolve and nasal tissues to soften. Most surgeons recommend a full 12-month wait. This ensures the cartilage and skin have completely stabilised before further intervention.

  • Healing timeline: Most swelling resolves within 6–12 months, though final refinement takes a year.
  • Structural stability: Surgeons require softened tissue to safely rebuild nasal architecture without risking more scarring.
  • Minor adjustments: Removing a bridge implant may occur after 3–6 months in specific, straightforward cases.
  • Emergency exceptions: Immediate surgery is reserved for severe infections or significant implant displacement only.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Many clinics offer virtual consults at the 6-month mark. However, for complex structural work, patient data shows surgeons often prefer a 12-month wait. Dr Park Young Kyu at SAERO Plastic Surgery is a prominent example. This patience prevents surgeons from operating on shifting tissue, which is vital for long-term symmetry.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Seoul recommend booking a 3-week stay to handle suture removal after 14 days. Experienced travellers advise verifying if the clinic specialises in Western nose shapes. This step should happen before committing to a revision.

What is the recovery time after revision rhinoplasty in South Korea?

Recovery after revision rhinoplasty in South Korea requires 7 to 14 days for initial healing. This period includes stitch removal. Major swelling typically settles within 3 weeks. Full refinement takes 12 to 18 months to stabilise. This is especially true for complex Asian-style reconstructions or thick-skinned patients.

  • Clinic stay: Most Seoul clinics mandate 14 days in-country for safe postoperative monitoring.
  • Initial phase: Casts and external stitches are typically removed between days 7 and 10.
  • Social recovery: Bruising usually fades by week 3, allowing for a return to work.
  • Final results: The nasal tip remains stiffest longest, settling fully after 12 months.
  • Activity limits: Patients must avoid glasses and strenuous exercise for at least 4 weeks.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Many Seoul clinics, like VG Plastic Surgery, use hyperbaric oxygen therapy to speed up recovery. Data shows this tech significantly reduces downtime compared to traditional rest. This inclusion is vital for international patients. They only have a standard 2-week window before flying.

Patient Consensus: Patients in South Korea found recovery manageable after 1 week. By then, swelling dropped enough for light sightseeing. They recommend staying at least 14 days. Clinics often refuse surgery if patients cannot complete the full monitoring period.

What should I prepare for a revision rhinoplasty consultation in Seoul?

Prepare previous medical records, implant details, and cartilage history for a revision rhinoplasty consultation in Seoul. Specialists use 3D-CT scans to map scar tissue and internal structure. Leading surgeons often require a 12-month gap between surgeries for tissue stability. This applies to clinics such as Dr. Im Young Min’s VG Plastic Surgery.

  • Medical history: Detail any previous implants, such as silicone, Gore-Tex, or rib cartilage.
  • Visual goals: Bring pre-surgery photos and reference images for your desired aesthetic outcome.
  • Functional notes: Discuss breathing issues or nasal valve collapse for structural repair planning.
  • Duration: Allow 10–14 days in Seoul for essential post-operative swelling reduction care.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Seoul clinics excel at managing thick skin in revision cases to improve tip definition. Data from top-rated centres like SAERO Plastic Surgery shows that patients benefit most from daily swelling reduction treatments. These specialised procedures can reduce the primary recovery phase to just one week.

Patient Consensus: Bring printed photos to avoid ambiguity and ask for case examples involving Caucasian patients. Negotiation is common in Seoul; paying in cash often secures better rates during your visit.
