My surgeon was great; he was honest about what results were realistic for my body and clearly explained all the risks, which gave me confidence
If you're thinking about this, my main piece of advice is to be mentally ready for the procedure, as it can be overwhelming. I’m in early recovery from my breast reduction and lift, and I am feeling better than expected. My surgeon was great; he was honest about what results were realistic for my body and clearly explained all the risks, which gave me confidence. The clinic team was easy to reach and stayed in touch. Do be aware of some additional expenses – I had a prescription that cost extra at the pharmacy. A few practical tips: bring a spare compression garment, cotton t-shirts to wear underneath it, and your own snacks. Also, having my mum with me has been pivotal to my recovery, so I'd suggest bringing a companion if you can.
The co-ordinator at Bookimed, Winnington was brilliant. No matter how many questions I had he was able to answer them promptly and with one small hiccup from the hospital Winnington went out of his way to try and package a new procedure for me. My co-ordinator Eyyub at Optimed hospital was outstanding. The hospital was great, the staff on my floor were fantastic. We used goggle translate when the co-ordinator wasn’t with us if we came up against a language barrier but that was not very often. I was cared for before and after my surgery by the nursing staff who could not do enough for myself and my mum. I 10000000% recommend Bookimed & Optimed hospital
Post op instructions could be better. I have suggested to them to put together a general guide of what to do and not to do and for however long. What’s normal and if something doesn’t feel right who to contact etc. I think this will greatly help international patients and help the hospital co-ordinators from being hounded with a load of questions from several patients all at once. Peace of mind for the patient and a little more support for the co-ordinator. The food is catered for Turkish patients and can be hard for international patients to eat. Again, I have suggested to them to try having a small box of fibrous cereal available at breakfast time and instead of a full meal at lunch time something simple like sandwiches or rolls/bagels/baked goods. Dinner was usually ok and we were able to eat most of that but our daytime diet is a little less than they were providing and there was a lot of food waste which they could minimise & use the money elsewhere if there was a cater to international patients diets.

The single positive aspect of this entire process was the staff. They were wonderful. Unfortunately, my experience with the surgeon and the clinic itself was profoundly disappointing, and I'm very concerned with how my otoplasty recovery is going so far. The gap between the supportive staff and the actual medical treatment I received is hard to understand. The facility did not meet my expectations for a medical setting in any capacity. Based on this, I would absolutely not recommend this clinic to anyone considering a similar procedure.
Do not go with bookimed.com. I didn’t liked from the moment when I arrived to airport anyone wasn’t there to pick me up, you know when you arrive any place you have no internet and you can’t make any phone calls or text so night mares already start.

The surgeon and the clinic itself were excellent
The possibility of breathing issues was my primary concern going into this. And honestly, that has been the biggest challenge in recovery so far, with one nostril constantly feeling stuffed. My surgeon performed a closed rhinoplasty. Everything is still very swollen along the bridge, but I can already see that my nose tip appears more refined, which is a great sign. The surgeon and the clinic itself were excellent. The general staff were great, though post-op instructions could have been a bit more explicit. I'm satisfied with the medical care I received so far
Dr. Erol is an amazing doctor, his work was amazing he truly listened to my request and expectations and he was really patient and reassuring. The medical assistance team as well, they really took good care of me, they were present when i needed them.
post-op instructions could’ve been explained better

I felt in such safe hands throughout and would recommend my surgeon Dr Yunus Emre Seker and his team to anyone
I loved the coordinator / interpreter. Totally made me feel at ease and comfortable in what I would only describe as an anxious situation especially with the language barrier and the unknown of where you are going. The surgeon himself was wonderful and even had a coffee with me before hand which made me feel completely at ease. I felt in such safe hands throughout and would recommend my surgeon Dr Yunus Emre Seker and his team to anyone. Thank-you so much :)

The lift in my jowls is already a dramatic improvement
My biggest worry was how the final result would look, and whether it would be worth the recovery. Even though I’m still quite puffy around my jawline, the lift in my jowls is already a dramatic improvement. That part is a huge relief. The staff and clinic environment were excellent from start to finish. Turning my head feels slightly tight but okay. The surgeon did good work, though I rated them a 4/5 as I felt some communication could have been a bit more compassionate after surgery. The most challenging part has absolutely been sleeping elevated. That's no fun. I would still recommend this clinic.
The Bookined coordinator and the Quartz Clinic staff were fantastic: supportive, helpful, compassionate. All updates were communicated to me promptly. The hotel booked for me is really excellent, with smooth transfers and kind drivers. Spot on!
I didn't give the doctor 5 stars because she made me cry the day after surgery. She could adopt a different approach towards me after surgery, with more understanding and compassion, especially since I was there on my own and at the end of the day, she's received all the information required, it doesn't matter from whom. The stress has a significant impact on me. Aside from that, she was great.

The moment I saw the result, even with the initial swelling, I could tell the shape was exactly what I wanted
The moment I saw the result, even with the initial swelling, I could tell the shape was exactly what I wanted. It’s a great feeling. My goal was a more defined tip, and that's precisely what the surgeon delivered using an open approach. The whole process was smooth, and the staff were genuinely caring. The most difficult part of recovery so far is just having to sleep upright, which is temporary. A huge bonus is that I am breathing perfectly through my nose already. I am so grateful for the surgeon's skill and the clear communication from the team.

the care provided by the surgeon and all the staff was impeccable
If you’re thinking about arm liposuction, I’d advise you to prepare for the recovery. My surgeon used the VASER ultrasound technique and, although it’s still early days, my compression sleeves are already too loose. My mobility is limited; my biggest difficulty right now is reaching for things above my head. It’s also important to be patient with the results, because when I look in the mirror today, I can see that one arm looks different from the other, and I’m confident that will even out over time. Despite these minor aspects of the process, the care provided by the surgeon and all the staff was impeccable. I would recommend the clinic.

I breath perfectly now after surgery and my nose is a lot straighter
I felt very secure and taken care of through the entire experience. All of my inquiries were answered very promptly by both the bookiemed coordinator, the assistant, and my doctor (Dr. C Altindąg), is very experienced and talked me through what to expect and analyzed my nose very thoroughly. I breath perfectly now after surgery and my nose is a lot straighter (I had a severe deviated septum and other complications from a past surgery that he identified and corrected including a mirgrated graft and a droopy tip). I'm still quite swollen but look forward to seeing final results in a few months.

I was so impressed by the results
If you're considering this, here is my honest take on the experience so far. My surgeon did excellent work on my extended tummy tuck with lipo and muscle repair; he was present during recovery checks and clearly explained the scar placement. I’m feeling better than expected early on. The financial aspect was a major factor. If I had the same procedure done in the US, I would have spent close to $20k. I spent a fraction of that in Istanbul and I was so impressed by the results. All transfers were provided and there were no additional expenses. However, be aware that some staff speak little English, and I frequently smelled cigarette smoke in the corridor. I also had to do my own online research for post-op directions. My coordinating physician did reach out while I was in the hospital and back at the hotel. My advice: only travel alone if you are very strong emotionally and physically, as it was a challenging experience. It felt like another c-section! Pack a good hospital bag with a phone charger and universal adaptor, toiletries, books, and a neck pillow. Photo of me is my Before. I'm one week in recovery, so no After photo yet.
My surgeon did excellent work and the nursing staff kept close post-op care of me. I appreciated all of the provided transfers to and from the airport and between the clinic and my hotel. The whole experience from start to finish was a great value for the price. If I had the same procedure done in the US (tummy tuck, abdominal muscle repair, and lipo), I have spent close to $20k. I spent a fraction of that in Istanbul and I was so impressed by the results one week after surgery.
Please be aware that some of the medical staff do not speak much or any English, so they provide support rather silently. Turkish people are also fairly serious, so while efficient and thorough, I was not coddled or babied. Also, there's also smoking allowed in the nurses' lounge or illegal smoking in the stairwell because I frequently smelled smoke in the corridor outside my recovery room while completing my post-op walking. Lastly, I would recommend the clinical staff provide more post-op directions for safe and expedient recovery. Everything I've learned was from my own online research.

The surgeon and staff were brilliant and supportive throughout
My biggest worry was ending up with an unnatural shape, but the surgeon’s approach and clear communication completely put me at ease. Right now, things still look a little patchy as about half the transplanted hairs have fallen out, which I was told to expect during this early stage of healing. It’s a process. The biggest challenge has honestly been a personal one: just remembering to avoid touching them! The surgeon and staff were brilliant and supportive throughout. While the clinic facilities were fine, the personal care from the team made all the difference. I'm very satisfied with my choice.

My surgeon, Dr
My surgeon, Dr. Ergin Er, was fantastic and I would highly recommend him—he was honest about realistic results and explained the scar placement clearly before my 360 VASER lipo and full tummy tuck with muscle repair. Having seen my scar it looks perfect so far. There were no additional expenses on top of what I paid. The nurses were wonderfully friendly and the clinic food was lovely - they even had food for my friend who came with me! The clinic stayed in touch constantly and provided a clear aftercare guide, making it easy to know what to do. While there was a slight language barrier with some nurses, it was never a problem as they used translation apps to communicate. My advice: don’t bring many clothes - you won’t need them, but do bring comfy shoes and clothes with pockets for your two drains. And make sure to get up and walk around as it aids healing and you will feel better.
I had a 360° VASER liposuction procedure, tummy tuck and abdominal muscle repair, and overall I’ve had a really positive experience from start to finish\. From the very beginning, Bookimed answered every question I had and were incredibly helpful\. No matter what time I messaged, someone was always there to answer my queries and put my mind at ease\. The transfers between the airport, hotel and hospital were excellent, and the instructions for where to go and what to expect were very clear\. The hotel was clean and comfortable, and the breakfast each morning was lovely\. My coordinator, Ege, was absolutely fantastic throughout the whole process\. He was always at the end of a message whenever I needed him, kept in constant contact, explained everything clearly, and was always able to reassure me whenever I felt anxious\. At the hospital, I met the anaesthesiologist, who was kind, professional and explained everything clearly\. My surgeon, Dr Ergin Er, was equally reassuring\. He carefully went through the procedure with me, completed all of the markings and made sure I understood what would happen before surgery\. I’ll admit I became quite emotional as I was being taken down to theatre, but the nurses were incredibly kind\. They held my hand, comforted me and made me feel safe, which meant a great deal\. When I woke up after surgery, I was looked after wonderfully\. The nursing staff were attentive throughout my recovery and were always there to help whenever I needed anything\. Even the hospital food was surprisingly lovely\. My mum stayed with me throughout my time in hospital, and she was provided with meals as well, which was a lovely touch\. Before we were discharged, we were both even given breakfast and lunch, which was much appreciated\. There was occasionally a slight language barrier with some of the nurses, but it was never a real problem\. Most spoke good English, and anyone who wasn’t confident simply used a translation app, so communication was always possible\. Throughout my recovery, Ege continued to check in regularly and made sure I knew exactly what I needed to do at each stage\. Although I’m still healing, my scar already looks very neat and tidy, and from everything I’ve seen so far, I’m extremely pleased with the results of my surgery\. I would happily recommend Bookimed, Ege, Istanbul Aesthetics Centre and Dr Ergin Er to anyone considering cosmetic surgery in Turkey\. Travelling abroad for surgery is a big decision, but I felt supported every step of the way and wouldn’t hesitate to choose them again.
Genuinely I can’t think of anything. It’s such a massive decision and the whole time I had full confidence in what was happening and the staff.

The surgeon did an excellent job – the incisions were made using the traditional method and are now hidden in the natural folds of the skin
I was worried that the scars from the upper and lower eyelid surgery would be noticeable. Fortunately, the surgeon did an excellent job – the incisions were made using the traditional method and are now hidden in the natural folds of the skin. I have no complaints about him whatsoever. However, the overall impression was greatly marred by the clinic itself, where the conditions were unsatisfactory. Recovery is still ongoing. My eyes are still swollen, and I’ve noticed that when I smile, one side looks slightly different. I hope this will pass. The main advice I would give to anyone considering this procedure is to prepare thoroughly for the period before and after the operation.

But the calmness and poise of the doctor and his team completely dispelled my doubts
I liked everything overall. Initially, I was very afraid, starting with the flight to another country, the transfer to the hotel and the operation itself. But the calmness and poise of the doctor and his team completely dispelled my doubts. 5 hours after the operation I returned to the hotel. Which is also very good because the hospital ward is the worst for me. Exactly after a week I took off the splint, my nose was still swollen. The nose is proportional to my face. When the swelling goes down it will be smaller

We will be going back for other treatment and truly can’t recommend them enough
Sitting in the clinic in Antalya, the surgeon explained how the laser-assisted technique for my upper eyelids would function during the procedure. The whole service was smooth and we had a fantastic time throughout our stay. The aftercare was good. I was thrilled with how my eyes looked at 12 days, although at day 15 my biggest challenge is that they are still puffy. My eyes look natural and smooth when I smile. It is a process. We will be going back for other treatment and truly can’t recommend them enough. If you are considering eyelid surgery, ensure you have a few weeks to let the initial swelling settle.

I would recommend them without hesitation to anyone considering surgery in Istanbul
I cannot recommend Bookimed, Dr. Ilker Manavbasi, and his incredible team highly enough. From the very beginning of my journey through to returning home to Australia, I felt supported, cared for, and completely confident in my decision. A very special thank you to Liliia from Bookimed, who assisted me throughout the entire process. She coordinated everything for my surgery and made what could have been an overwhelming experience feel so much easier. She was always helpful, responsive, and reassuring, and I am so grateful for her support. Dr. Ilker Manavbasi was absolutely amazing from the moment we first met until the day I left Istanbul. I underwent a tummy tuck, breast reduction, and 360 liposuction, and I honestly could not be happier with my results. They are even better than I had hoped for and have completely exceeded my expectations. Dr. Ilker’s nursing team were also wonderful and supported me every step of the way. A special mention must go to Ceyda, who stayed in communication with me via WhatsApp throughout my entire stay in Istanbul. Knowing that she and the team were always just a message away gave me so much reassurance. The aftercare was exceptional. Nurses came to my hotel every second day for lymphatic massages, and whenever I needed anything, the team was there to help. I never felt like I was left on my own once the surgery was over — the care and attention continued throughout my recovery. My recovery has been amazing, and I truly believe that is because of the wonderful care I received from Dr. Ilker and his team. Thank you Liliia, Dr. Ilker Manavbasi, Ceyda, and the entire nursing team for taking such wonderful care of me. FAQ about Plastic Surgery in Turkey

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

How do I know if a Turkish plastic surgeon is qualified?

Qualified Turkish plastic surgeons must hold certification from the Turkish Board of Plastic Surgeons. They also need membership in the Turkish Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (TPRECD). Leading specialists often possess international credentials. These come from the European Board of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (EBOPRAS) or ISAPS.

  • Board certification: Verify the surgeon passed national exams via the Turkish Board of Plastic Surgeons.
  • International credentials: Top specialists like Dr Prof. Salih Onur Basat hold prestigious EBOPRAS fellowship status.
  • Hospital affiliation: Qualified doctors operate in JCI-accredited facilities such as Memorial Şişli or Lokman Hekim.
  • Clinical experience: Professional surgeons like Dr Hasan Sahin have performed over 12,000 successful procedures.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Turkish surgeons with high patient volumes often develop specific technical specialities. For example, Dr Leyla Arvas at Quartz Hospital is a certified VASER trainer. Choosing a doctor who trains others indicates proficiency in the latest regional safety protocols.

Patient Consensus: Patients note that qualified surgeons provide clear operative sketches and long-term photos. They appreciate doctors who spend time explaining realistic outcomes rather than rushing into theatre.

Is plastic surgery in Turkey safe for Australian patients?

Plastic surgery in Turkey is safe for Australians when performed at JCI-accredited hospitals by board-certified specialists. Leading clinics like Quartz Hospital and Dr. MED treat numerous Australian patients annually. Safety is maintained through international standards such as ISO 9001. Success rates reach 99% for common procedures.

  • Accreditation: Top facilities like Memorial Şişli Hospital hold Joint Commission International (JCI) certification for safety.
  • Expertise: Surgeons like Dr. Ergin Er have performed 10,000+ procedures with international training.
  • Procedures: Clinics offer VASER liposuction, deep plane facelifts, and FUE hair transplants using modern tech.
  • Language support: Major centres provide free interpreters in multiple languages. This prevents communication gaps during surgery.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Clinics with over 4.8 ratings often provide 24/7 post-treatment monitoring. Soraca Med is one such clinic. Our data shows that high-volume centres frequently bundle aftercare support for a full year. This is a vital safety net for Australians managing recovery after returning home.

Patient Consensus: Patients say meeting surgeons beforehand to draw incision lines builds confidence during their Turkey trip. They suggest bringing a travel pillow and button-down clothing. Patients also praise the caring clinic staff and airport transfers.

How soon can I safely fly home after plastic surgery in Turkey?

Most patients can safely fly 7 to 10 days after plastic surgery in Turkey. Less invasive procedures like liposuction allow for flights after 7 days. Major surgeries like tummy tucks or mommy makeovers require 14 to 21 days. This is due to blood clot risks.

  • Facial surgery: Patients typically fly 7 to 10 days after a facelift or rhinoplasty procedure.
  • Breast procedures: Flying is generally safe after 7 days once initial post-operative checks are complete.
  • Body contouring: Tummy tuck patients should wait 2 to 3 weeks until drains are removed.
  • Long-haul flights: Australians should wait at least 14 days before embarking on 15+ hour journeys.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Clinics with 4.8+ ratings, such as Lokman Hekim Istanbul Hospital, are often 5 minutes from the terminal. They arrange airport transfers. This proximity is vital for Australian patients because it reduces physical strain. Choosing a clinic that treats 10,000+ patients annually means the surgical team is highly experienced. They are skilled in the specific protocols needed for safe, long-distance air travel.

Patient Consensus: Patients note it is important to request wheelchair assistance at the airport. This helps avoid walking long distances. They also suggest bringing a small support pillow for the flight home. This helps manage comfort during the long journey from Turkey to Australia.

What questions should I ask a Turkish clinic during a virtual consultation?

Virtual consultations for plastic surgery in Turkey require specific questions. These should cover surgeon credentials, facility accreditations, and recovery logistics. Patients should verify who performs the surgery. They should confirm the specific surgical technique used. They should clarify which post-operative costs are included in the final package price.

  • Surgeon verification: Ask whether the surgeon or a technician performs the operation and makes the incisions.
  • Clinical benchmarks: Enquire about the surgeon's annual volume for your specific procedure type.
  • Technique details: Confirm if they use VASER liposuction or deep-plane facelift methods.
  • Facility standards: Check for JCI accreditation or Turkish Ministry of Health authorisation certificates.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Clinics with 4.8+ ratings often share detailed pre-op sketches during calls. One example is Lokman Hekim Istanbul Hospital. If a clinic refuses a video meeting with the surgeon or hides their identity, it usually signals a marketing agency. This suggests it is not a medical facility.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Turkey suggest asking about swelling timelines. Many were surprised by how long it takes for nose and eye results to settle. They also recommend bringing a support person. They suggest checking if the hotel is in a walkable area for easier recovery.

How will I manage my aftercare and follow-up once I return home to Australia after plastic surgery in Turkey?

Australian patients manage aftercare through a combination of local GP support and digital follow-up with Turkish clinics. Most facilities provide clinical notes in English and specific recovery guidelines for the 17-hour flight home. Success depends on securing a local doctor before departure to monitor healing and manage sutures.

  • Clinical summaries: Request English-language operative notes and recovery timelines before leaving Istanbul.
  • Digital check-ins: Send photos to the surgical team via WhatsApp for visual assessments.
  • Local monitoring: Arrange an Australian GP appointment to check wounds and remove stitches.
  • Support terms: Choose clinics like Dr. MED that offer one year of aftercare.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Clinics with high aftercare ratings, like Lokman Hekim Istanbul Hospital, often use standardised digital protocols to track international patients. Data shows that centres performing 10,000+ operations annually usually have dedicated coordinators to handle post-op queries. Choosing a clinic with JCI accreditation further aligns a patient's record-keeping with Australian medical standards, making local GP handovers smoother.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Turkey report that initial hospital support is excellent. However, staying in touch via WhatsApp is vital once back in Australia. Many recommend bringing a travel pillow for the flight. They also note that clear communication with the surgeon before discharge prevents stress during the long journey home.

What happens if something goes wrong after I return home from plastic surgery in Turkey?

Turkish plastic surgery centres manage complications through 24/7 post-treatment support. Clinics like Dr. MED offer 1 year of aftercare support. Reputable surgeons provide direct communication lines via WhatsApp. Australian patients should secure speciality medical tourism insurance and keep all operative reports. This ensures continuity of care upon return home.

  • Aftercare support: Centres like Dr. MED offer 12 months of follow-up guidance.
  • Direct communication: Surgeons often provide 24/7 video or phone consultation lines.
  • Documentation access: Clinics include digital copies of surgical reports and lab results.
  • Revision policies: Some clinics provide warranties, such as Adem and Havva for hair.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Clinics with high patient volumes typically have more robust protocols for managing international cases. For example, Lokman Hekim Istanbul Hospital treats 10,000+ patients annually. These facilities often maintain dedicated international patient departments. These departments remain active well after the patient returns to Australia. Choosing a JCI or ISO certified clinic adds accountability for post-operative standards.

Patient Consensus: Patients note it is important to stay in Turkey for the full recovery window. This helps catch early issues. They found that a clear aftercare guide and an active coordinator helped. This made the transition back home much easier.

Will there be a language barrier with my plastic surgeon in Turkey?

Most plastic surgeons in Turkey catering to international patients speak fluent English. Many hold international fellowships and certifications from bodies like the European Board of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (EBOPRAS). While surgeons are highly proficient, communication gaps often exist with nursing staff and hospital support personnel.

  • Expertise signals: Leading surgeons often hold memberships in international groups like ISAPS and ASPS.
  • Translation support: Clinics like Hisar Hospital provide free interpreters in 15+ different languages.
  • Communication tools: Many facilities use multilingual coordinators or apps to bridge gaps with nurses.
  • Initial screening: Patients should use video consultations to gauge a surgeon’s English proficiency directly.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Language proficiency in Turkish clinics follows a distinct hierarchy. Senior surgeons often have 20+ years of experience and international training in the US or UK. This means they communicate clearly. However, support staff may have limited English. To manage this, clinics like Adem and Havva provide personal interpreters. These interpreters handle every bedside interaction and post-operative care detail.

Patient Consensus: Patients note that the language barrier with nurses can be an anxious situation. However, dedicated coordinators and translation apps make the process smooth. Most feel completely at ease once they sit down with the surgeon. The surgeon typically uses sketches or photos to set aesthetic goals.

Dr. MED in Istanbul even offers one year of aftercare support. The clinics are dedicated to long-term results. This is a major reason why Australian patients choose these specialised centres.

Patient Consensus: Patients note that Turkey is a top destination. It is known for refined nose tips and natural-looking hair grafts. They appreciate that many surgeons perform the entire procedure personally. They also appreciate the clear aftercare instructions provided to help manage initial swelling.

What is usually included in plastic surgery packages in Turkey?

Plastic surgery packages in Turkey typically include surgeon fees, anaesthesia, and pre-operative tests in JCI-accredited hospitals. Most clinics bundle 4-star or 5-star hotel stays, VIP airport transfers, and interpreter services. Essential recovery garments, such as compression sleeves or surgical bras, are usually standard inclusions for patients.

  • Medical fees: Covers surgery, theatre use, anaesthetic, and required pre-op blood work.
  • Hospital stay: Includes 1 or 2 nights of inpatient care with 24/7 nursing.
  • Luxury accommodation: Standard packages provide 3–7 nights in a 4-star or 5-star hotel.
  • Patient support: Personal coordinators and interpreters assist with English communication during medical appointments.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Clinics with over 10,000 annual patients often include a one-year aftercare support program. This is common at high-volume centres like Lokman Hekim Istanbul Hospital. While many search for the lowest price, these established facilities provide more reliable long-term security. Always confirm if the package includes a lifetime warranty for hair transplants or specific post-op medications.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Turkey find the VIP transfers and coordinated hotel stays reduce the stress of navigating a new city. They often suggest bringing button-down pyjamas and extra funds for meals not included in the hotel stay.

How long do I need to stay in Turkey after my plastic surgery?

For most plastic surgeries, patients need to stay in Turkey for 7 to 10 days. Major body surgeries, such as tummy tucks, require 10 to 14 days. This timeframe allows surgeons to remove stitches, drains, or casts before the flight home.

  • Rhinoplasty timeline: Surgeons usually remove nasal splints 7 days after the procedure.
  • Secondary procedures: Patients undergoing revision surgeries often require up to 3 weeks for monitoring.
  • Initial recovery: Most patients spend 1 to 2 nights in the hospital for observation.
  • Final clearance: Surgical teams perform a final checkup before clearing patients to board international flights.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Basic packages often cover 7 days. However, clinics like Dr. MED report higher satisfaction when patients stay for 10+ days. This extra time allows for intensive 24/7 monitoring. Longer stays let local teams manage the initial swelling. This is especially helpful before the long flight back to Australia.

Patient Consensus: Patients find sleeping upright and wearing compression garments challenging. Yet they feel secure with coordinators available 24/7. Many recommend bringing button-down pyjamas, a travel pillow, and comfortable shoes for the flight home from Turkey.

How long do I need to stay in Turkey after plastic surgery?

Most patients stay in Turkey for 7–10 days after plastic surgery. This window allows for critical follow-up appointments and safe flying. Specialist clinics in Istanbul typically require 1–3 hospital nights. After this, patients get a final clearance check before flying home.

  • Rhinoplasty stay: Plan for 7–10 days to allow splint removal and swelling checks.
  • Liposuction duration: Expect 5–6 days including a mandatory follow-up for garment fitting.
  • Facelift recovery: Most surgeons require 9–10 days before clearing patients for long-haul travel.
  • Tummy tuck timeline: Surgeons usually mandate 8–9 days to monitor incisions and drains.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Clinics with high success rates often bundle a full year of aftercare support. For example, Dr. MED reports a 97% facelift success rate and offers this extended support. This suggests that the physical stay is only about 10 days. However, the clinical relationship extends much longer to monitor patients' healing progress from Australia.

Patient Consensus: Patients note that staying 10 days in Turkey provides a vital safety buffer. This covers the critical first week of healing. They recommend bringing a companion. They also suggest booking central Istanbul accommodation. This makes it easy to reach the clinic for unexpected post-operative checks.
