Dental implants in Thailand typically cost from AUD $997 / ฿A33,889 to AUD $1,851 / ฿A62,937, depending on the brand of implant, clinic location, and necessary preparatory procedures. Patients travelling from Australia, where the average cost is AUD $6,123 / ฿A208,177, can expect to save approximately 77%. Standard packages often include the initial consultation, 3D CT scans, the titanium post, abutment, and final crown.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Choosing a Joint Commission International (JCI) accredited facility like Yanhee International Hospital ensures high safety standards for complex restorations. While high-end packages at clinics like About Tooth Dental Clinic start around A$4,900 for Straumann implants, they often use TADI-certified specialists. Australian patients frequently visit SmileBox Dental Clinic, which serves over 1,600 international patients annually using original Swiss materials. Opting for these recognised providers balances significant savings with verified clinical quality.

What would I say to a friend who’s hesitating? Just go for it
What would I say to a friend who’s hesitating? Just go for it. My biggest fear was not understanding the treatment plan or feeling rushed, but that wasn’t the case at all. The dentist was very patient and took the time to explain each step to me in detail. It was reassuring. The overall organisation ran smoothly and the whole clinic team were professional and happy to answer my questions. Coordination via Bookimed simplified the whole process, which helped reduce the stress of having a medical appointment abroad. I left with clear information and a good overall impression.

I would like to thank BIDC and also Bookimed for their professionalism
Hello everyone, like many other people before an operation, I wasn't feeling very well. The staff at the clinic immediately reassured and accompanied me. Believe me or not, I didn't feel a thing. The dental surgeon fitted the 2 implants in 40 minutes, and I had no infections whatsoever. My Bookimed advisor (Péguy) was with me from the start and is still with me today. I would like to thank BIDC and also Bookimed for their professionalism. Sylvain B.

The wisdom teeth extraction was done so fast with utmost care
It is a clean hospital and the wisdom teeth extraction was done so fast with utmost care. The dentist and dental personnel can speak fluent English which is important for most people like I. For wisdom teeth extraction the cost was 20000 baht for 4 teeth( including medication and nurse charge), but it all depends if the teeth has impacted. I would highly recommend the clinic.

Our Dental Implant Techniques: What Suits You Best?

When considering Dental Implant, it’s important to understand the different techniques and which is best suited for you. Here’s a concise comparison of popular options:

All-on-4 Dental Implants

This procedure involves placing four strategically positioned implants to support a full arch of prosthetic teeth, offering a stable and long-lasting solution for tooth loss.

Pros: Requires fewer implants than All-on-6 while providing similar stability. High success rate of 95% for lower jaw implants. Suitable for patients with some bone loss, unlike traditional methods needing extensive bone grafting.
Cons: Not ideal for patients with severe bone loss, unlike zygomatic implants. May not offer the same level of support as All-on-6 for those with higher bite forces.
Effectiveness: 95% success rate for lower jaw.
Duration: 2-3 hours
Recovery: 1-2 weeks
Best for: Full arch replacement for patients with moderate bone density. Suitable for 4-6 missing teeth.
Prices: Cost of All-on-4 Dental Implants in Thailand from AUD $12,815

All-on-6 Dental Implants

All-on-6 dental implants involve placing six implants in the jawbone to support a full arch of teeth.

Pros: Offers enhanced stability and support compared to All-on-2 and All-on-4 options. Provides up to 30% more biting force than fewer implant configurations.
Cons: Requires more bone density and may involve additional procedures like bone grafting, which increases complexity. It takes longer than simpler implant solutions.
Effectiveness: Success rate of 95% for osseointegration.
Duration: 2-3 hours
Recovery: 3-6 months
Best for: Full arch restoration in patients with sufficient jawbone density. Suitable for those needing comprehensive dental prosthetics.
Prices: Cost of All-on-6 Dental Implants in Thailand from AUD $11,259

Installation of a Dental Implant with Crown

It involves placing a titanium post in the jawbone to support a crown, restoring a missing tooth.

Pros: Provides a natural look and feel, with a success rate of up to 98%. Offers a permanent solution compared to removable dentures, enhancing comfort and function.
Cons: Requires sufficient bone density, which may necessitate bone grafting. Longer treatment time compared to other options like All-on-4 implants.
Effectiveness: Success rate up to 98%.
Duration: 1-2 hours
Recovery: 3-6 months
Best for: Single missing tooth replacement, maintaining jawbone health, and improving oral function.
Prices: Cost of Installation of a dental implant with crown in Thailand from AUD $995

Zygomatic implant

Designed for patients with significant bone loss in the upper jaw, a zygomatic implant uses the zygomatic bone for support.

Pros: Provides a stable solution for patients with severe bone loss. Avoids the need for bone grafting, unlike traditional implants. High success rate, with over 95% reported in studies.
Cons: Requires complex oral surgery and specialized skills. Longer recovery time compared to other dental fixtures.
Effectiveness: 95%-98% success rate.
Duration: 2-3 hours
Recovery: 3-6 months
Best for: Patients with severe upper jaw bone loss who cannot have standard implants.

Straumann Dental Implants

Straumann Dental Implants are high-quality dental fixtures used for tooth replacement and oral restoration.

Pros: Exceptional osseointegration rate and durability. 98% success rate over 10 years. Superior to zygomatic or simple swiss implants in terms of longevity.
Cons: Requires good bone density, unlike zygomatic implants. More invasive than simpler implant with abutment procedures.
Effectiveness: 98% success rate
Duration: 1-2 hours
Recovery: 3-6 months
Best for: Single tooth replacement, multiple teeth restoration, and strong jawbone support.

All-on-2 Dental Implants

A dental fixture technique providing full arch rehabilitation with only two implants per arch, ensuring stability and function.

Pros: Minimal surgery with reduced recovery time. Suitable for patients with limited jawbone density, offering 20-30% less surgical intervention compared to All-on-4.
Cons: Limited support for full arch, increasing stress on implants, which can lead to 15% higher wear and tear risk than All-on-4.
Effectiveness: Success rate of 85-90% in suitable patients.
Duration: 1-2 hours
Recovery: 3-5 days
Best for: Patients with limited jawbone, requiring fewer implants for full arch restoration.
Prices: Cost of All-on-2 Dental Implants in Thailand from AUD $1,515

Dental Implant with Abutment

Tooth implant involves placing a titanium post into the jawbone, serving as a root for a dental prosthesis like a crown.

Pros: High success rate of 95% due to osseointegration. Provides a natural look and feel, unlike removable dentures.
Cons: Requires adequate bone density and health. Surgical procedure may lead to discomfort and swelling for a few days.
Effectiveness: 95% success rate for osseointegration.
Duration: 1-2 hours
Recovery: 3-6 months
Best for: Single tooth replacement, maintaining jawbone health, and providing stable dental prosthetics.

Nobel Biocare Dental Implants

Tooth implants from Nobel Biocare provide a permanent solution for missing teeth through advanced osseointegration.

Pros: High success rate of up to 98%. Suitable for immediate function, unlike some other dental fixtures. Strong osseointegration with jawbone.
Cons: Requires sufficient bone density, unlike zygomatic implants which can bypass this limitation.
Effectiveness: 98% success rate
Duration: 1-2 hours
Recovery: 3-6 months
Best for: Single or multiple tooth replacement, addressing gaps in dental arch.

Simple Swiss Dental Implants

A straightforward dental restoration designed for replacing missing teeth with a focus on precision and durability.

Pros: High success rate of over 95%. Minimal bone grafting needed in most cases. Excellent osseointegration due to advanced technology.
Cons: Limited to individuals with adequate jawbone density. May require multiple visits for complete installation.
Effectiveness: Success rate over 95%.
Duration: 1-2 hours
Recovery: 1-2 weeks
Best for: Single or multiple missing teeth. Ideal for maintaining jawbone health and function.

FAQ about Dental Implant in Thailand

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

What are the main risks of getting dental implants in Thailand?

Main risks for dental implants in Thailand include inadequate healing time and limited local follow-up. While clinics like Bangkok International Dental Center follow JCI standards, non-standard parts can make repairs difficult. Australian dentists may struggle to fix specific systems. Success also relies on enough time for osseointegration before flying.

  • Component compatibility: Local dentists may lack tools for repairing non-standard or obsolete implant brands.
  • Healing timeframe: Flying too soon after surgery increases risks of infection and blood clots.
  • Follow-up care: Managing bite adjustments or loose crowns becomes difficult once patients return home.
  • Osseointegration failure: Rushing stages for a holiday schedule can prevent implants fusing with bone.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Patients often overlook that the lowest-priced packages in Thailand may exclude essential imaging. High-end clinics like Dentist at Home include 3D CT scans and follow-up visits in their A$2,100 packages. Choosing these bundles allows for precise planning and reduces the risk of expensive revision surgery later.

Patient Consensus: Australians highlight that aftercare and continuity are the hardest parts to manage from overseas. Patients recommend getting a written plan with all component lot numbers. This helps local dentists assist with any future adjustments.

How long does the dental implant process take in Thailand?

The dental implant process in Thailand typically requires two trips over 3 to 6 months. Most patients spend 5 to 7 days for the initial implant placement. A second visit follows months later to attach the permanent crown after the jawbone heals.

  • First visit: This stage involves consultation, 3D CT scans, and surgical post placement.
  • Healing period: Fusing the implant to the bone takes 3 to 6 months.
  • Second visit: Specialists attach the final crown or bridge over a few days.
  • Same-day options: Immediate loading techniques allow for provisional teeth on the day of surgery.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Clinics like Bangkok International Dental Center manage more than 15,000 international patients annually. This experience means surgeons often use 3D CT planning for faster, more precise procedures. These often involve a 0-day hospital stay. While costs start from $700, these centres maintain JCI standards comparable to Australian facilities.

Patient Consensus: Visitors to Thailand frequently note the transition from temporary to permanent teeth is seamless. Many find the wait between visits worth the savings compared to Australian prices.

Can I have an online consultation before booking my dental implant trip to Thailand?

Thai dental clinics routinely provide online consultations to assess cases before patients book travel. These virtual screenings allow specialists to review diagnostic files. They confirm candidacy for procedures like All-on-4 or individual implants. They also provide preliminary treatment plans with timelines for multi-trip surgery.

  • Diagnostic review: Specialists assess 3D CT scans or panoramic X-rays remotely.
  • Treatment planning: Clinics outline required visits, bone grafting needs, and implant brands.
  • Cost estimates: Virtual assessments provide transparent pricing for implants, abutments, and crowns.
  • Video consultations: Many centres, such as SmileBox Dental Clinic, offer direct video calls.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Thai clinics often bundle diagnostic imaging into their packages to finalise remote plans. For example, packages at Dentist at Home Clinic include 3D CT scans and panoramic X-rays. This helps the provisional online plan match your clinical reality upon arrival.

Patient Consensus: Patients find that sending high-quality scans before flying helps coordinate imaging and work leave. Sending photos alongside X-rays ensures the surgical team is ready before the first appointment.

Can I get same-day dental implants in Thailand?

Patients can receive same-day dental implants in Thailand. This procedure is often called immediate loading. It allows surgeons to place the implant and a temporary tooth in one visit. Success depends on bone density, absence of infection, and using 3D CT scans for digital planning.

  • Technique eligibility: Suitable for extraction and immediate placement if jawbone density supports the titanium post.
  • Typical inclusions: Packages often cover 3D scans, consultations, local anaesthesia, and temporary dental prostheses.
  • Clinic standards: JCI-accredited facilities like Bangkok International Dental Centre use original Straumann and Nobel Biocare materials.
  • International focus: Clinics like SmileBox Dental specialise in treating Australians with English-speaking staff and telehealth support.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Thailand excels in full-arch same-day restorations. All-on-4 packages at clinics like Dentist at home Bangkok often bundle 3D CT scans and temporary bridges. These cost about A$11,700. This is significantly lower than the $4,300 Australian average. Most clinics require a 7-day stay for safety checks.

Patient Consensus: Patients find the process efficient when extraction and temporary prosthetics happen on the same day. They highlight the importance of confirming if quotes include 3D scans, extractions, and temporary teeth before flying.

Which dental implant system brands are used by clinics in Thailand?

Thai dental clinics use globally recognised implant systems from Switzerland, the USA, and South Korea for high success rates. Premium options like Straumann and Nobel Biocare are standard at JCI-accredited centres such as Bangkok International Dental Center (BIDC) and Yanhee International Hospital.

  • Premium Swiss systems: About Tooth Dental Clinic specialises in Straumann implants for long-term durability.
  • Premium American brands: Clinics commonly use Nobel Biocare, which is the pioneer of All-on-4 restorations.
  • Value-tier systems: Osstem and Megagen are frequently used for single-tooth replacements and cost-effective packages.
  • Specialised Swiss technology: Some centres use Simple Swiss or partner with Ivoclar Vivadent for materials.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While many clinics offer a range of brands, SmileBox Dental Clinic and BIDC are official Straumann providers. This status means they use genuine components and original Swiss materials. Choosing an official provider simplifies future maintenance in Australia. Most local dentists recognise these global brands.

Patient Consensus: Clinics in Thailand typically offer multiple implant systems and tie the brand directly to the final quote. Patients suggest getting the exact brand and model in writing. This documentation is vital for any follow-up care required after returning home to Australia.
