What would I say to a friend who’s hesitating? Just go for it
What would I say to a friend who’s hesitating? Just go for it. My biggest fear was not understanding the treatment plan or feeling rushed, but that wasn’t the case at all. The dentist was very patient and took the time to explain each step to me in detail. It was reassuring. The overall organisation ran smoothly and the whole clinic team were professional and happy to answer my questions. Coordination via Bookimed simplified the whole process, which helped reduce the stress of having a medical appointment abroad. I left with clear information and a good overall impression.

I would like to thank BIDC and also Bookimed for their professionalism
Hello everyone, like many other people before an operation, I wasn't feeling very well. The staff at the clinic immediately reassured and accompanied me. Believe me or not, I didn't feel a thing. The dental surgeon fitted the 2 implants in 40 minutes, and I had no infections whatsoever. My Bookimed advisor (Péguy) was with me from the start and is still with me today. I would like to thank BIDC and also Bookimed for their professionalism. Sylvain B.

The wisdom teeth extraction was done so fast with utmost care
It is a clean hospital and the wisdom teeth extraction was done so fast with utmost care. The dentist and dental personnel can speak fluent English which is important for most people like I. For wisdom teeth extraction the cost was 20000 baht for 4 teeth( including medication and nurse charge), but it all depends if the teeth has impacted. I would highly recommend the clinic.

FAQ about Basal implant in Thailand

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

Is it safe to undergo basal implant surgery in Thailand?

Basal implant surgery in Thailand is safe at accredited facilities using 3D CT planning and recognised implant brands. Safety relies on choosing clinics with ISO 9001:2015 certifications. Surgeons should be experienced in immediate loading protocols within sterile, negative-pressure environments to prevent infection.

  • Imaging: Specialised clinics use CBCT 3D scans to map jawbone density before surgery.
  • Quality standards: ISO-certified facilities like Bangkok Dental Hospital Silom use HEPA-filtered negative pressure rooms.
  • Recognised components: Reputable surgeons use international brands like Straumann, Osstem, and NobelActive that Australian dentists recognise.
  • Expert staff: High-volume clinics often employ 70+ dentists. This allows for specific sub-specialisation in maxillofacial implantology.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Basal implants cost $1,200 to $2,000 in Thailand, but look beyond the price. Top-tier clinics like Dentist at Home include 3D CT scans in their packages. This imaging is vital for precise placement in the cortical bone. It also provides essential documentation for your Australian dentist.

Patient Consensus: Safety depends on the surgeon and imaging standards rather than the country itself. Patients suggest obtaining a full treatment plan and verifying the specific implant system before travelling.

What are the advantages and drawbacks of getting basal implants compared to conventional implants in Thailand?

Basal implants in Thailand provide a faster alternative for patients with severe bone loss. They use dense cortical bone instead of spongy jawbone. This removes the need for bone grafting or sinus lifts. It also allows for fixed teeth within 3 to 7 days.

  • Bone density: Basal implants anchor into deep cortical bone. This bypasses the need for expensive bone grafts.
  • Treatment speed: Patients receive fixed bridges in one week. This is faster than the 3–6 months required for conventional types.
  • Infection resistance: Polished surfaces on basal devices reduce the risk of peri-implantitis. Conventional porous implants carry a higher risk.
  • Long-term predictability: Conventional implants remain the industry standard. They have more established long-term data and easier prosthetic adjustments.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Basal implants avoid bone grafts but often use a single-piece design. If the abutment is damaged, the entire implant may need replacement. Clinics like Bangkok Dental Hospital offer Zygoma implants as a stable alternative for severe bone loss.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Thailand appreciate avoiding multiple surgeries. They enjoy leaving with a functional smile in days. They suggest comparing basal plans with conventional options to ensure clinical needs come before travel convenience.

How do basal implants differ from traditional dental implants offered in Thailand?

Basal implants in Thailand anchor into dense cortical bone. Traditional implants use the softer alveolar bone instead. This allows for immediate loading within 72 hours. It also removes the need for bone grafting, even for patients with severe bone loss.

  • Bone anchor: Anchors in denser basal bone. This bone is less prone to resorption than spongy bone.
  • Grafting requirements: Patients with low bone density do not need bone grafts or sinus lifts.
  • Loading time: Prosthetics are usually fitted within 3 days. Traditional methods can take months.
  • Structural design: Typically single-piece vertical screws with polished surfaces to help prevent infection.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Thai clinics like Bangkok Dental Hospital provide ISO-certified care with 70+ dentists. They often combine basal techniques with Zygoma implants. This provides a complete restoration for patients previously told they lack the bone volume for standard implants.

How long will I need to stay in Thailand for my basal implant procedure?

A typical stay in Thailand for basal implants requires 7 to 10 days for the first trip. This covers surgery and the immediate loading of temporary prosthetics. Patients often return after 3 to 6 months for a second visit of 4 to 7 days to fit final crowns.

  • First visit duration: Plan 7–10 days for consultations, 3D CT scans, and surgical implant placement.
  • Immediate loading: Temporary teeth are often fitted within 72 hours of the surgical stage.
  • Healing period: Most specialists recommend 3–6 months at home for the jawbone to heal.
  • Final prosthetic trip: A 4–7 day stay is needed to replace temporaries with permanent crowns.
  • Surgical planning: Clinics like Dentist at Home use 3D CT scanning to map bone density.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Basal implants are marketed for speed, but the 10-day first trip is vital. This is because swelling peaks on day 3. Choosing Bangkok Dental Hospital (Silom Dental Building) provides ISO 9001:2015 standards. This helps manage the tight timeline for immediate function prosthetics.

What is the expected longevity of basal implants performed in Thailand?

Basal implants in Thailand are designed to last 15–20 years or longer with professional placement and consistent oral hygiene. These implants anchor into dense cortical bone. This provides high stability and resists bone resorption better than traditional dental implant techniques.

  • Cortical anchorage: Implants fix into deep, dense bone layers for superior long-term stability.
  • Brand quality: Clinics use global brands like Straumann, Osstem, and NobelActive for durability.
  • 3D planning: Surgeons use 3D CT scanning for precise placement and longevity.
  • Immediate loading: Most procedures allow for immediate restoration using a temporary dental prosthesis.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While basal implants are permanent, the crowns usually need replacing every 10–15 years. Choosing a clinic like Bangkok Dental Hospital (Silom Dental Building) with ISO 9001:2015 certification meets international standards for all hardware.

Patient Consensus: Longevity depends on finding an Australian dentist for regular check-ups and bite adjustments. Patients in Thailand appreciate the speed of immediate loading. They suggest confirming maintenance plans before flying home.
