I couldn’t be happier with my decision to come here, and my flight back to Hawaii was smooth and stress-free
I had an amazing experience with Dr. Park and the entire team! From start to finish, everyone—especially Joanne—was incredibly accommodating and attentive, which made me feel safe and well cared for. Dr. Park did an incredible job on my breast augmentation. Remarkably, after just one day of recovery, I was able to walk around Seoul, use public transport, and see all the sights I wanted to visit. Although it was slightly uncomfortable at times, I never experienced significant pain beyond the first few hours after waking from anesthesia. I truly believe this speaks to Dr. Park’s precision—and maybe a little to my own fast healing! The clinic goes above and beyond for their patients. I received IV therapy, red light therapy, and hyperbaric oxygen therapy, all of which made me feel well supported throughout recovery. Dr. Park and the team checked in consistently, which is such a green flag—so different from many experiences in the U.S., where doctors often focus solely on the surgery itself. I couldn’t be happier with my decision to come here, and my flight back to Hawaii was smooth and stress-free. I highly recommend Dr. Park for anyone seeking attentive, professional care and excellent results.

That gave me a lot of confidence
I really appreciated the time my doctor took during the consultation for my forehead and frown lines. He was so thorough, explaining exactly where and why he would inject, and was very honest about what realistic results would look like after showing me photos of previous patients. That gave me a lot of confidence. Now in my early recovery, I'm feeling better than expected. It was a good process. The final price was exactly what I was quoted, with no additional expenses. My only note is that there was little contact from the clinic after my appointment, but overall the service was solid.
I’ve love how medical coordinator took care of everything !

If a friend asked me where to go for deep plane facelift 'd tell them about this clinic without hesitation. The process from start to finish was handled with such professionalism. I am still in the early stages of healing, so I am following all the aftercare instructions carefully. The surgeon was thorough, and the entire staff made me feel comfortable and well-cared-for throughout my visit. The facility was also very clean and modern. I am thankful for the support I received from the whole team.

FAQ about Chemical Peel in Republic of Korea

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

Are chemical peels in South Korea suitable for all skin types?

Chemical peels in South Korea accommodate all skin types through high customisation. They do not rely on a universal formula. Specialists use barrier-friendly options like Lala Peels for sensitive skin. They also use deeper TCA solutions for resurfacing. Clinicians typically adjust acid strength based on Fitzpatrick skin types to prevent irritation.

  • Gentle options: Lala Peel (LHA) suits sensitive skin with minimal redness or downtime.
  • Deep cleansing: Aqua Peels provide intensive pore clearance without any recovery period.
  • Resurfacing depth: TCA 20-25% peels address deeper concerns but require 2–5 days of shedding.
  • Clinical standards: Specialists like Dr Yeom Jihye at Forena Clinic have performed 14,000+ procedures.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Many Australian patients expect standard glycolic acids. However, South Korean clinics lead in LHA (Lala Peel) technology. This "fourth-generation" peel doesn't dissolve the skin barrier like traditional acids. It is often a safer choice. This is for patients who react poorly to standard Aussie clinic peels.

Patient Consensus: Patients with darker skin recommend explicitly asking for high Fitzpatrick protocols to avoid hyperpigmentation. Most visitors find that South Korean clinics prioritise barrier health over aggressive shedding. This leads to a faster recovery.

What aftercare is required following a chemical peel in South Korea?

Aftercare for chemical peels in South Korea prioritises intensive hydration and strict sun protection. This protects the vulnerable skin barrier. Specialists at Seoul clinics like AB Plastic Surgery and Forena Clinic recommend avoiding all active skincare ingredients for at least 1 to 2 weeks. The skin flakes naturally during this time. Initial healing takes 7 days, but full recovery requires 3 weeks.

  • Sun protection: Use mineral SPF 50+ daily, even indoors, to prevent post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
  • Hydration protocol: Apply occlusives like Aquaphor or Cica cream frequently to keep skin damp.
  • Cleansing method: Use non-foaming, creamy cleansers and cool water; avoid physical scrubs or brushes.
  • Peeling management: Never pick or pull flaking skin; trim large hanging pieces with sterile scissors.
  • Ingredient restrictions: Stop using retinols, Vitamin C, and exfoliating acids for 14 days post-treatment.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Many Australian patients expect immediate results. However, Bookimed data shows that South Korean dermatologists often use a tiered approach. Experienced doctors like Dr Yeom Jihye at Forena Clinic frequently combine mild peels with exosome therapy. Dr Yeom has performed 14,000+ procedures. This reduces typical downtime from 7 days to just 3 or 4 days. It does this by accelerating cellular repair.

Patient Consensus: South Korean clinics provide detailed aftercare kits. However, patients suggest bringing mineral sunscreen and avoiding foaming cleansers. The biggest challenge is resisting the urge to pick peeling skin. This is vital for avoiding scars.

How do chemical peels in South Korea differ from those in the West?

South Korean chemical peels prioritise barrier preservation and hydration. They avoid the aggressive resurfacing common in the West. These treatments use gentle acids like PHAs and LHAs. They achieve a glass skin glow with zero downtime. In Seoul, procedures are performed exclusively by doctors in certified facilities.

  • Acid selection: These peels use large-molecule PHAs and LHAs, which penetrate slowly to prevent irritation.
  • Doctor-led care: All in-clinic chemical peels are performed exclusively by licensed physicians in Korea.
  • Barrier focus: Treatments like Lala Peels strengthen the skin surface while exfoliating and hydrating.
  • Frequency: These peels are viewed as monthly maintenance. They are not a one-time corrective treatment for deep damage.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Western peels often require a week of flaking. Korean clinics, however, use technology safe for all skin tones. This is vital for Australian patients with non-European backgrounds. It significantly reduces the risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation compared to high-strength Western TCA peels.

Patient Consensus: Expect a gentle experience that replaces harsh home acids with soothing, maintenance-oriented professional care. In South Korea, patients find the focus on post-treatment sun avoidance and hydration creates a lasting, healthy glow. This happens without the pain of deep resurfacing.

Do I need a consultation before getting a chemical peel in Seoul, South Korea?

Consultations are standard practice in Seoul before a chemical peel. Specialists perform high-resolution skin analysis to determine appropriate acid strengths. Most clinics allow same-day consultations and treatments for international patients. Examples include Forena Clinic and AB Plastic Surgery. Australian patients can save up to 90% compared to local prices.

  • Skin analysis: Clinics use 3D MetaView diagnostics to assess pigmentation and skin thickness.
  • Same-day service: Initial consultations typically happen immediately before the procedure to save time.
  • Medical history: Practitioners review previous skin treatments to prevent reactions with chemical acids.
  • Practitioner continuity: Centres like Forena Clinic have the same doctor perform diagnosis and treatment.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While many Seoul clinics offer free initial reviews with coordinators, patients should insist on a doctor-led consultation for medical-grade peels. Specialists like Dr Yeom Jihye at Forena Clinic have performed 14,000+ procedures. Their experience means the peel strength suits the patient's specific skin tone and sensitivity levels.

Patient Consensus: Expect thorough skin scans that show hidden pigmentation before the doctor builds a custom plan. Seoul clinics operate efficiently, often completing the analysis and treatment in one visit.

Can a chemical peel in South Korea treat acne scars?

Chemical peels in South Korea effectively treat acne scars, particularly surface texture issues and pigmentation. Specialised treatments like TCA peels target deeper icepick scars. For significant pitting, clinicians often combine peels with subcision or microneedling. These procedures typically occur as outpatient sessions in Seoul medical centres.

  • TCA CROSS technique: High-concentration acid treats individual icepick scars to trigger collagen production.
  • Gentle peel options: Milk, Aqua, and LHALLA peels improve texture with minimal recovery time.
  • Combination therapy: Specialists integrate peels with CO2 lasers or RF microneedling for deeper scars.
  • Treatment frequency: Most patients require 5–10 sessions over several months for visible results.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While single peels cost from $100 to $100, most Seoul clinics recommend combination packages. These bundles often include lasers or subcision and cost around A$1,600. This multi-modality approach explains why South Korea maintains high success rates for complex, pitted scarring.

Patient Consensus: Patients find that depth counts, as shallow dents often improve within two sessions in South Korea. Denser scarring requires significant patience across many monthly visits to see noticeable texture changes.

What are the most popular types of chemical peels offered in Seoul, South Korea?

Seoul clinics specialise in low-irritation peels that achieve glass skin without the downtime typical of Australian treatments. Popular options include the viral LHALA Peel for sensitive skin and the pore-clearing Aqua Peel. Most procedures cost between $100 and $100.

  • LHALA Peel: Uses liposome technology and alkaline ingredients to strengthen skin while exfoliating gently.
  • Aqua Peel: Uses AHA/BHA solutions for simultaneous exfoliation, painless extraction, and deep hydration.
  • Mela Peel: Targets pigmentation and sun damage to create an even, bright skin tone.
  • TCA Peel: Acts as a medium-depth treatment for significant acne scarring and deeper wrinkles.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While traditional acid peels are standard in Australia, Seoul’s volume-heavy clinics in Gangnam perform over 20,000 procedures annually. Specialists like Dr Kim Dong-Young use Wood’s lamp diagnosis to precisely calibrate peel strength for individual pigmentation types. This helps explain why high-density clinics maintain such low irritation rates.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Seoul love how Aqua Peels feel cooling and leave skin immediately smooth. The L Peel is a favourite because it requires zero recovery time and can be repeated fortnightly.

What is the downtime for a typical chemical peel in South Korea?

Downtime for a chemical peel in South Korea is minimal, ranging from zero days for Aqua peels to 10 days for deep TCA treatments. Most patients choose light peels with no recovery time. Moderate peeling typically peaks between days 3 and 4.

  • Light peels: Aqua or LDM peels cause no downtime or slight redness for one day.
  • Moderate peels: TCA peels (20–25%) result in 2–4 days of visible skin shedding.
  • Deep peels: Intense peeling lasts 7–10 days with full normalisation taking up to 2 weeks.
  • Sun protection: Clinics mandate daily SPF 50+ use to prevent pigmentation during the healing phase.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Seoul clinics like AB Plastic Surgery and Forena Clinic serve over 20,000 patients annually. They often use exosome therapy alongside peels. At top-rated centres, this combination can significantly accelerate skin barrier repair. It works faster than traditional solo peeling treatments.

Patient Consensus: South Korean clinics offer Aqua peels that work perfectly for lunch breaks with only mild redness. For deeper treatments, patients should schedule the procedure so the most intense peeling overlaps with their weekend.
