Acne scar treatment in the Republic of Korea typically costs from AUD $3,058 to AUD $3,058. Final pricing depends on the selected laser technology, the number of sessions required, and the clinic location, with Seoul hubs like Gangnam and Cheongdam being primary destinations. In Australia, similar treatments cost around AUD $5,142 on average, meaning patients can save approximately 41% by travelling. Standard Korean protocols often include a consultation, the procedure, and post-treatment soothing care.

  • Acne laser treatment: AUD $278 to AUD $695 per session for resurfacing.
  • Intense Pulsed Light (IPL): AUD $1,112 to AUD $1,807 for treating pigment and redness.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Korea offers exceptional value through high-volume specialist centres. For example, Oracle Clinic Cheongdam treats 25,000 patients annually and holds accreditation from the Korean Society for Laser Dermatology and Hair Disorders. This scale allows clinics to offer advanced combinations, like laser paired with subcision, at lower rates than Australian private practices. Some clinics, such as Forena Clinic, also have doctors who have performed over 14,000 procedures, providing high expertise at competitive prices.

Data verified by Bookimed as of August 2026, based on patient requests and official quotes from 178 clinics worldwide. Median costs are based on real invoices (2025–2026) and updated monthly. Actual prices may vary.

I couldn’t be happier with my decision to come here, and my flight back to Hawaii was smooth and stress-free
I had an amazing experience with Dr. Park and the entire team! From start to finish, everyone—especially Joanne—was incredibly accommodating and attentive, which made me feel safe and well cared for. Dr. Park did an incredible job on my breast augmentation. Remarkably, after just one day of recovery, I was able to walk around Seoul, use public transport, and see all the sights I wanted to visit. Although it was slightly uncomfortable at times, I never experienced significant pain beyond the first few hours after waking from anesthesia. I truly believe this speaks to Dr. Park’s precision—and maybe a little to my own fast healing! The clinic goes above and beyond for their patients. I received IV therapy, red light therapy, and hyperbaric oxygen therapy, all of which made me feel well supported throughout recovery. Dr. Park and the team checked in consistently, which is such a green flag—so different from many experiences in the U.S., where doctors often focus solely on the surgery itself. I couldn’t be happier with my decision to come here, and my flight back to Hawaii was smooth and stress-free. I highly recommend Dr. Park for anyone seeking attentive, professional care and excellent results.

That gave me a lot of confidence
I really appreciated the time my doctor took during the consultation for my forehead and frown lines. He was so thorough, explaining exactly where and why he would inject, and was very honest about what realistic results would look like after showing me photos of previous patients. That gave me a lot of confidence. Now in my early recovery, I'm feeling better than expected. It was a good process. The final price was exactly what I was quoted, with no additional expenses. My only note is that there was little contact from the clinic after my appointment, but overall the service was solid.

FAQ about Acne Scar Treatment in Republic of Korea

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

Is it safe to get acne scar treatments in South Korea?

Acne scar treatment in South Korea is highly safe when performed by board-certified dermatologists at clinics like Forena or BIOFACE. Specialists prioritise low-trauma multimodal approaches such as Potenza RF microneedling and Pico Fraxel. This helps prevent hyperpigmentation. Government-recognised facilities in Seoul maintain university-grade safety standards and advanced laser technology.

  • Specialist expertise: Surgeons like Dr Yeom Jihye at Forena Clinic have performed 14,000+ procedures.
  • Advanced technology: Clinics use FDA-approved devices including Thermage FLX, Potenza, and 3D MetaView skin analysis.
  • Multimodal approach: Safety improves by combining subcision with skin boosters like Juvelook or Rejuran.
  • Rigorous accreditation: Top facilities hold KOIHA (Korea Institute for Healthcare Accreditation) or KALDAT certifications.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Bookimed data shows that leading Korean dermatologists often avoid aggressive CO2 lasers common in Australia. They prefer gradual protocols using Pico Fraxel and Juvelook. This shift significantly reduces the risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation for patients with ethnic or sensitive skin tones.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Seoul appreciate the conservative, low-trauma approach that prevents discolouration. They highlight that significant improvement requires 4–10 sessions with results surfacing naturally over several weeks.

What are the most popular and effective acne scar treatments in South Korea?

South Korea uses multimodal combination therapies to treat acne scars. Clinics frequently pair subcision with RF microneedling and picosecond lasers. These treatments target atrophic scars and pigmentation at the same time. They also prioritise low-downtime regenerative boosters like Juvelook or Rejuran S. These boosters speed up skin healing and collagen production.

  • Multimodal therapy: Combines subcision, Potenza RF microneedling, and Pico Fraxel in single sessions.
  • Subcision: Manually releases fibrotic strands under deep scars to lift recessed skin.
  • Collagen boosters: Juvelook and Rejuran S injections stimulate long-term skin density and repair.
  • Vascular lasers: Excel V or Vbeam systems treat post-acne redness alongside texture resurfacing.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Many patients expect a single aggressive laser session. However, Seoul's leading clinics like Oracle Clinic Cheongdam and Forena Clinic focus on incremental sessions. Performing 3–6 treatments every 3–4 weeks reduces the risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. This is a common issue with traditional CO2 lasers.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Seoul suggest requesting a combo package that includes subcision for the best results on deep scars. Most people appreciate how quickly redness resolves. It often fades within 1–3 days, allowing them to continue their holiday.

How many sessions of acne scar treatment in South Korea are needed for visible results?

Patients typically need 3 to 6 sessions of acne scar treatment in South Korea to see visible results. Initial smoothing often appears after 1 or 2 sessions. However, reaching optimal collagen remodelling generally requires a full course. Sessions are spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart.

  • Mild scarring: Most patients notice significant texture improvements after 2–3 sessions.
  • Deep scarring: Moderate to severe cases usually require 4–6+ targeted treatment sessions.
  • Laser options: Pico Fraxel and CO2 lasers typically show results within 2–4 weeks.
  • Energy treatments: RF microneedling often requires 3–5 sessions for visible collagen growth.
  • Session spacing: Clinics recommend 3–4 week intervals to allow skin tissue healing.

Bookimed Expert Insight: South Korean clinics like Forena Clinic and Oracle Clinic Cheongdam treat over 20,000 patients annually. They use combination therapy. Data suggests mixing RF microneedling with skin boosters or exosome therapy. This yields faster results than single-laser approaches. Choosing these bundled protocols can reduce the total session count needed for deep scars.

Patient Consensus: Patients in the Republic of Korea see smoothing after one visit. However, they suggest planning 8–10 sessions for deep ice-pick scars. Combination therapy and scheduling six months ahead give the best results for Australian travellers.

What is the downtime for laser acne scar treatment in South Korea?

Downtime for laser acne scar treatment in South Korea depends on the intensity applied. It typically lasts 2 to 14 days.

Clinics in Seoul use PicoFraxel, which requires 2–7 days of recovery. Ablative CO2 lasers for deep scarring need 7–14 days for redness and peeling to subside.

  • Ablative CO2 lasers: Expect 7–14 days of downtime for significant skin resurfacing and healing.
  • Fractional Er:YAG lasers: Require 3–10 days of recovery depending on depth and skin sensitivity.
  • PicoFraxel treatments: Result in 2–7 days of swelling or mild bruising before patients return to routine.
  • Non-ablative lasers: Minimise downtime to 2–3 days, though more sessions are usually required.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data from high-volume Seoul clinics like Forena and Oracle shows a shift towards sub-ablative and Pico-MLA technologies. These methods allow patients to resume light activities within 48 hours. This trend serves the 20,000+ annual patients who prioritise rapid recovery over intensive single-session results.

Patient Consensus: Clinics in South Korea often focus on gradual, low-trauma sessions to avoid pigmentation issues. Patients recommend waiting at least 1 week for scabbing to clear before applying makeup safely.

What is subcision and why is it popular for acne scar treatment in South Korea?

Subcision is a minor surgical procedure where a specialist uses a needle or cannula to sever fibrous tethers beneath the skin. This releases depressed acne scars, allowing the surface to rise. South Korean clinics specialise in air subcision, which uses high-pressure air for faster healing.

  • Targeted scars: Effectively treats rolling and atrophic scars that lasers alone cannot reach.
  • Combination therapy: Clinics often pair subcision with Potenza RF microneedling and Rejuran skin boosters.
  • Skin safety: Minimises post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation risks, making it safer for typical Asian skin types.
  • Efficiency: Air subcision techniques allow visitors to combine multiple treatments into a single session.

Bookimed Expert Insight: South Korea’s innovation lies in multimodal sessions. Clinics like Forena or RE:BERRY often combine subcision with exosome therapy or Juvelook boosters. This dual approach fills depressions while simultaneously improving texture. Leading doctors, including Dr. Yeom Jihye, have performed over 14,000 procedures using these methods.

Patient Consensus: Requesting the multimodal approach provides better lifting than subcision alone. Expect two days of redness and prepare for strict sunscreen use. The procedure may be uncomfortable, but results for deep rolling scars are significant. Many patients find Korean packages are much more affordable than individual treatments in Australia.
