How Much Does Medication therapy for acne Cost in Turkey in AUD?

Medication therapy for acne in Turkey typically costs from AUD $288 to AUD $721. The final price depends on the specific prescription protocol, the dermatologist's experience, and the clinic's location. In Australia, patients often pay around AUD $2,739, meaning travelling to Turkey can offer savings of approximately 79%. Most treatment plans include an initial specialist consultation and a tailored pharmacological regime.

  • Specialist consultation: Primary cost factor involving a physical skin assessment and medical history review.
  • Treatment technique: Conventional oral medications are standard, while supplementing with laser therapies may increase costs.
  • Clinic location: Costs in major hubs like Istanbul and Antalya tend to be 15–20% higher.
  • Clinic tier: Larger multi-specialty hospitals with international accreditations often charge a premium for their facilities.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Choosing a multi-specialty centre provides significant value for Australians seeking long-term skin health. Large hospitals like Medipol Mega University Hospital or Anadolu Medical Center are affiliated with Johns Hopkins Medicine, providing access to international-standard diagnostic protocols. While smaller private practices like Veysel OZCAN Clinic offer more personalised care, the larger JCI-accredited facilities often have on-site pharmacies and advanced diagnostic labs. This allows for immediate blood tests and hormonal screenings, which are essential for managing complex or treatment-resistant acne effectively.

Data verified by Bookimed as of July 2026, based on patient requests and official quotes from 64 clinics worldwide. Median costs are based on real invoices (2025–2026) and updated monthly. Actual prices may vary.

I'm feeling better than expected so far
What really stood out was sitting with my doctor before the procedure. He personally performed the treatment, but first, he showed me before-and-after photos of cases similar to mine and clearly explained the specific depth and settings he would use for my skin. This gave me confidence. I had one Morpheus8 session for my neck and décolletage, and I'm feeling better than expected so far. The clinic staff have also stayed in touch, which is reassuring. Just be aware that I did have some additional expenses for injections that weren't in the initial price.

I had 4500 grafts transplanted
Honest review. Preparation before the operation first took place online with the manager (Yulia) . 24/7 in touch, Julia provided assistance in all matters that interest me regarding the operation. Having chosen the date of the operation, having bought tickets, I flew to Istanbul. There I was met by a transfer and taken to the hotel, which, accordingly, was reserved even earlier for me. The hotel is 5 stars, the room is very decent. Polite staff. Breakfast is also included. The next day, the operation (hair transplant) in the morning a car comes for me and we go to the clinic. First, I sign an agreement and they take a blood test from me. The haircut is already in the clinic, photographs are taken (as it was before and after) and we proceed to the operation itself. The clinic looks ordinary, not to say that it is super clean or very dirty. And now it's time for the operation itself. I will call it Turkish series. During the whole operation, employees talk about everything in the world. If only I had a couple more days like this and I would have learned Turkish (and this all happens above your head (30 cm). Anyone could come into the office at that time and some other doctors, employees, cleaning lady. The doctors themselves allow themselves to pick up the phone, talk. And this is all during the operation. Singing songs. Discussing series. Family problems. At some point, I would not be surprised if friends with a barbecue came to them, started making a barbecue, brought a toastmaster and played a wedding there. What can I say .... Turks (but in general, nice guys) I accepted it all, because I was worried about one thing - a good result. I had 4500 grafts transplanted. Now it’s too early to say, since only 10 days have passed after the transplant. I will write the 2nd review when there will be a 100% result. I was put on an almost tight bandage on the place of the donor zone, and taken to the hotel. The 2nd day is a rest. Having received all the recommendations, I of course (did not listen) and walked all day around Istanbul. On the 2nd day after the operation, I strongly recommend as much as possible o walk less. And then later you will look as if your head has been in evidence with bees. Strong puffiness. And the body really needs rest. 3rd day check out from the hotel, control head washing and then transfer to the airport. Everything is simple here, I checked out, they came and took me and took me to the clinic. They washed my hair (first lotion, then shampoo) and told in detail how it would be done at home and further care. They also gave lotion and shampoo as a gift)))) this procedure took half an hour maximum. And the last stage is transfer to the airport. The manager is in touch to the last, even after arriving home. This is not so that you came, paid - did the operation and you are no longer interesting to anyone. Attention, help, support at a high level) I recommend

Whether it's the doctors, nurses or reception staff, many other hospitals should take inspiration from the Turkish hospital model
The quality of the hospital service is second to none, with well-organised, highly competent services that are always available to patients. Whether it's the doctors, nurses or reception staff, many other hospitals should take inspiration from the Turkish hospital model. The hospitals are like luxury hotels, you feel good, you are looked after and followed throughout your stay. Finally, the money I spent there was really justified. Thank you to everyone who looked after me during my 14-day stay. Of course I recommend Istanbul Memorial Hospital. Antonio. M

If asked whether I would recommend the clinic, I would give it a clear 10 out of 10
My biggest concern was choosing the right surgeon, but this turned out to be completely unfounded. I felt very well looked after right from the first point of contact. The doctor took plenty of time for the consultation, and the whole team at the clinic were professional and very caring, which made the whole process very straightforward for me. Everything went smoothly. Although my recovery is still ongoing, I am extremely satisfied with the care and organisation so far. If asked whether I would recommend the clinic, I would give it a clear 10 out of 10.
Everything went very smoothly and without a hitch, from the planning stage right through to the examination

The surgeon was fantastic, earning a full 5/5 from me
My biggest concern going into this was the recovery and if I would see real changes. The procedure itself was quick, involving two passes with the MOXI laser. My skin already feels smoother to the touch, and I can definitely see my dark spots fading, which is exactly what I hoped for. The surgeon was fantastic, earning a full 5/5 from me, and the clinic itself is pristine. The most difficult part has been the aftercare; strictly avoiding sun exposure is no joke. While the staff were professional, they could have been a bit more attentive, hence the 4/5 rating. Overall, it was a solid choice for the treatment.
The professionalism and cleanliness of the hospital and the friendly staff.
The price. It can be more affordable for a lot more people. It’s really too expensive for a simple treatment.

The clinic staff and surgeon were professional throughout the process
My main concern going into this was what the final result would feel like. I opted for a fat transfer, and the clinic staff and surgeon were professional throughout the process. The service was good. I'm still in the early stages of recovery, so I haven't tried any sexual activity yet. To be honest, my biggest recovery concern so far has been some uneven bumps, which makes the new girth feel slightly uneven at this point. I'm told this can be part of the healing process, so I'm waiting to see how things settle over time. The overall experience was satisfactory, with a capable team.

The clinic was so nice and beautiful
The clinic was so nice and beautiful. Staff was friendly and my doctor was very quick, knowledgeable, and accommodating. The price was so reasonable and I felt safe getting the injections. They provided numbing cream when I was in the waiting room which was very nice. The coordinator was helpful in making sure I knew where the locations were and what to expect.

Her level of empathy was touching
My request was for a specific treatment for my condition, which I believe was triggered by COVID or vaccine-related complications. The treatment itself is relatively new and not widely available; however, the doctor Faturanız Hazırdır was open to considering my request, which was a decisive factor in choosing this hospital. Her level of empathy was touching. When I arrived, I received outstanding support from Aliser Durdiyev, who coordinated the entire process — from reception and medication procurement to scheduling the treatment. None of this would have been possible without Hanna Karvatska, who connected all of us who has deep personal and professional connection with people here, and I’m deeply grateful to her, Alisar, and the doctor for their support and professionalism. And special thanks for the empathy from all three people, the teamwork they created to get me what we all believe could be the best treatment.
About Bookimed service
Hanna is a remarkable individual with a big heart, dedicated to connecting patients with top-tier doctors and medical professionals across various countries. Her extensive network ensures that every partner and connection goes the extra mile to meet patient needs without hesitation. Aliser is a young but already experienced medical advisor. I was positevley surprised with approach. One of the most critical aspects of arranging medical treatment abroad is navigating logistics in an unfamiliar country. This is where Aliser's proactive approach truly stands out. His exceptional energy, personal connections, and unwavering curiosity to find the best solutions were decisive factors in my positive experience. Together, Hanna and Alisar helped to oerganise care and coordination, making the complex process of international medical treatment seamless and patient-focused.

It was a first-class service from start to finish
My biggest concern before the procedure was just keeping the area protected during healing. The staff was fantastic. They gave clear instructions that made managing the aftercare for my coin-sized birthmark removal straightforward. The surgical excision went well, and while there's still some scabbing as expected, I felt I was well-informed throughout the procedure by professionals. It was a first-class service from start to finish. For anyone looking into this, the care was excellent and not at an exuberant cost.

Their professionalism, and on time communication made a big difference
I was in Istanbul for a holiday and decided to try Morpheus 8. While looking for a clinic I stumbled upon bookimed.com. I didn't have much time since I was due to fly to Cappadocia the next day. ALI, was very helpful and was able to book the procedure for me the following day. He quoted me a good price for both face and neck. On top of it, he went above and beyond. He met with me and accompanied me throughout the whole process. I really appreciate everything he had done. It made everything so smooth. All the staff from Quartz clinic were very professional as well. Dr Ezgi did a great job during my 2 sessions. I would highly recommend bookimed for bookings and Quartz clinic for procedures. Their professionalism, and on time communication made a big difference.

My hair transplant experience in Turkey at Quartz Clinic Ahlem raddaoui was excellent — great medical service and professional staff
My hair transplant experience in Turkey at Quartz Clinic Ahlem raddaoui was excellent — great medical service and professional staff. The only thing that could be improved is communication. They say support is available 24/7 via WhatsApp, but in reality, it seems there are specific hours when responses are quicker. It would help to know the real support hours. Overall, very positive experience — just make sure you can communicate in English (or Turkish), otherwise it might be a bit tricky... I recommand

FAQ about Medication therapy for acne in Turkey

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

What are the most common acne medication therapies in Turkey for Australians seeking treatment?

Common acne medication therapies in Turkey for Australians include topical retinoids like Tretinoin and Azelaic acid serums, systemic isotretinoin (Roaccutane), and topical antibiotic combinations. Turkish pharmacies offer easy access, with some treatments available without a prescription, under dermatologists’ supervision.

  • Topical retinoids: High-strength Tretinoin (Acnelyse) widely used in Turkey.
  • Azelaic acid: Formulations such as Azelderm available over-the-counter.
  • Systemic isotretinoin: Prescribed under strict medical supervision for severe acne.
  • Topical antibiotics: Often combined with retinoids for better results.
  • Pharmacy access: Many acne treatments sold without prescriptions, unlike Australia.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Turkish dermatologists often combine medication with non-surgical treatments like mesotherapy, laser therapy, and PRP to speed recovery. Clinics in Istanbul and Antalya with JCI accreditation offer top care, balancing medication availability and patient safety. Australians benefit from faster access and thorough consultations at lower prices.

Patient Consensus: Australians appreciate Turkey's quick access to treatments hard to get back home. Many highlight convenience buying products like Tretinoin and Azelaic acid locally. Strict supervision during Roaccutane treatment reassures patients despite its side effects. Careful clinic selection is key to avoiding unnecessary upsells.

How long does acne medication therapy usually last in Turkey?

Acne medication therapy in Turkey usually lasts at least 4 to 6 months to see full benefits. Initial improvements may appear sooner, but long-term use helps maintain clear skin and prevent relapse. Turkish dermatologists recommend regular check-ups to monitor progress and adjust treatment.

  • Typical duration: Long-term or indefinite use for maintenance after 4–6 months.
  • Medication types: Combination of topical and oral treatments, including tretinoin and azelaic acid.
  • Follow-up care: Regular dermatologist visits recommended for treatment adjustment.
  • Accessibility: Strong actives like 20% azelaic acid are available without prescriptions.
  • Supporting care: Sunscreen and gentle skincare improve medication effectiveness.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Many Turkish clinics combine medication with complementary therapies like mesotherapy and ozone therapy for better results. Dermatologists such as Dr Makbule Dundar at Medipol Acıbadem adjust treatment plans over months, showing consistent 4–6 month commitments for lasting acne control.

Patient Consensus: Patients appreciate the clear timeline for improvement in Turkey, with steady progress after a few months. Buying medication locally makes treatment easier to maintain without prescription hassles during travel.

Is isotretinoin (Roaccutane) available easily in Turkey for Australian patients seeking acne treatment?

Isotretinoin (Roaccutane) is available in Turkey only by prescription from licensed dermatologists. It cannot be bought over the counter or online legally, and treatment requires monthly blood tests to monitor health. Clinics in Istanbul, like Anadolu Medical Center, provide professional supervision for Australian patients.

  • Prescription control: Oral isotretinoin requires formal dermatologist approval in Turkey.
  • Pharmacy sales: Medication is sold only in licensed pharmacies with patient consent forms.
  • Monitoring protocol: Monthly liver function and lipid blood tests are mandatory.
  • Generic options: Widely used affordable generic isotretinoin versions are available.
  • Topical alternative: Tretinoin creams are available over the counter but differ from oral therapy.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Clinics like Anadolu Medical Center offer English-speaking staff and follow strict health protocols, which suits Australian patients needing clear communication and ongoing care. Many top JCI-accredited hospitals in Istanbul oversee safe isotretinoin prescription and testing, ensuring legal and medical safeguards are in place.

Patient Consensus: Australian patients in Turkey report the legal prescription route is straightforward and safe. They value clinics that handle monthly blood tests and explain risks clearly. Getting isotretinoin without a prescription is risky and unreliable, so planning formal consultations is key.

Can Australians use their home country acne prescriptions when buying medication in Turkey?

Australians cannot use their Australian prescriptions to buy prescription acne medication in Turkey. Over-the-counter medications like tretinoin and azelaic acid are available without a prescription. Strong drugs such as isotretinoin need a Turkish dermatologist’s prescription and follow-up care.

  • Over-the-counter availability: Tretinoin, azelaic acid, and tazarotene are widely sold without prescriptions.
  • Prescription-only drugs: Isotretinoin (Roaccutane) requires a local dermatologist’s prescription.
  • Pharmacy visits: Turkish eczanes won’t accept foreign prescriptions for controlled acne medication.
  • Brand names: Turkish brands (e.g., Zorante for tazarotene) differ from Australian ones.
  • Follow-up care: Essential with Turkish dermatologists for isotretinoin due to strict monitoring.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Australian patients save by buying tretinoin creams in Turkey, paying around A$40 for 50g, much cheaper than Australia. Turkish pharmacies also offer local apps like dermoeczanem for better prices. For isotretinoin, seeing a Turkish dermatologist ensures a legal prescription and safe treatment.

Patient Consensus: Australians find many acne creams available without prescriptions in Turkey. They note that local brand names help avoid confusion. Most stress the importance of consulting Turkish doctors for strong medications like Roaccutane to get a valid local prescription.

Are combined treatments offered by dermatologists in Turkey alongside acne medication therapy for Australians?

Turkish dermatologists typically offer sequential acne care for Australians, starting with medication to control active acne, then procedural treatments like microneedling and laser therapy for scars. Clinics in Istanbul and Antalya provide such tailored approaches in JCI-accredited facilities with advanced skin therapies.

  • Medication first: Prescription meds manage active acne before procedures start.
  • Procedural treatments: Microneedling, laser, subcision used post-medication for scar repair.
  • Advanced therapies: PRP, peeling, mesotherapy, botulinum toxin, and dermal fillers available.
  • Leading clinics: Memorial Bahçelievler and Memorial Antalya hospitals hold JCI accreditation.
  • English support: Anadolu Medical Center offers English-speaking coordinators and virtual consults.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Many Turkish clinics separate medication and procedural acne steps rather than combine them simultaneously. Australian patients usually control active acne at home first, then pursue advanced scar treatments in clinics like Memorial Bahçelievler. This staged plan lowers risk and improves results.

Patient Consensus: Australians find treatment clear and efficient when first using medication locally. Turkish dermatologists then focus on scar repair with lasers and microneedling, leading to better skin outcomes. Virtual consultations help Australians prepare before travel.

Can Australians buy acne medication over the counter in Turkish pharmacies?

Australians can buy many effective acne medications over the counter (OTC) in Turkish pharmacies. Topicals like tretinoin (Acnelyse), tazarotene (Zorante), and azelaic acid (Azelderm) are available without prescriptions, especially in Istanbul, Ankara, and Antalya pharmacies.

  • OTC availability: Tretinoin and tazarotene gels are often sold without a prescription.
  • Pharmacist support: Turkish pharmacists can recommend medications, though brand names differ.
  • Prescription needed: Oral acne drugs like antibiotics require a local doctor’s prescription.
  • City coverage: Major cities and tourist areas stock OTC acne meds more reliably.
  • Australian imports: Verify Australian Border Force rules before bringing meds back home.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Most Australians find tretinoin and azelaic acid easily available OTC in urban Turkish pharmacies. Mentioning brand names like Acnelyse or Zorante smooths the purchase. Some pharmacies may ask for prescriptions, so trying several outlets in Istanbul or Antalya pays off for certainty.

Patient Consensus: Australians say buying acne creams in Turkey is easy and affordable. Many found pharmacies in Istanbul or Antalya stocked tretinoin and azelaic acid without fuss. Asking for brand names helped avoid confusion and sped up getting the right treatment.
