How Much Does Rehabilitation with "Lokomat" Cost in Turkey in AUD?

Rehabilitation with "Lokomat" in Turkey typically costs from AUD $2,791 to AUD $6,979. Final prices depend on session frequency, program duration, and whether the patient requires inpatient or outpatient care. In Australia, similar robotic gait training costs around AUD $6,281 on average. Patients can save approximately 56% by travelling to Turkey. Packages often include neuro-rehabilitation, specialist consultations, and transfers in hubs like Istanbul, Antalya, and Ankara.

  • Inpatient programs: often represent the higher price tier as they include 24-hour nursing care, room, and board.

  • Robotic-assisted intensity: programs with multiple daily sessions on the Lokomat system typically add 20–30% to base therapy costs.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Choosing specialized neuropsychiatric centres provides superior value for neurological recovery. NP Istanbul Brain Hospital, the second-ranked brain hospital in Europe, uses brain function measurements to tailor robotic therapy. In contrast, massive multi-specialty hubs like Medipol Mega University Hospital, which serves over 1,000,000 patients annually, offer unmatched infrastructure. Australian patients often prefer Valued Med Hub Hospitals in Istanbul for their dedicated international support teams.

Unfortunately, it was a very, very unsuccessful experience, and their only goal is money, not treatment. The doctors are completely unprofessional, and I was exploited.

We really liked the Physiomer hospital, it is very cozy and comfortable here. A big plus for the team, especially Melih, he helped us a lot on organizational issues. The physiotherapists are very patient and kind. Hussein and Zhannan are the best in their business. We have been choosing places where they can help us for a long time and we were not mistaken in choosing Physiomer, our little one was happy to work with this team.

The biggest thing that surprised me is how much my walking balance has already improved
The biggest thing that surprised me is how much my walking balance has already improved. It’s a direct result of the support from the surgeon and the entire staff here. Their approach is focused on task-specific therapy, and the daily sessions are intense but effective. I've found the robotic walker to be an incredibly useful tool for my progress. It is hard work. My main daily challenge has been managing fatigue, but the team is attentive and helps create a plan that works. I feel like I'm in very capable hands for this stage of my recovery.

Nobel rehab offered my mother, who had a stroke, a good program
Nobel rehab offered my mother, who had a stroke, a good program. It included both traditional methods, such as massage, physiotherapy exercises, a swimming pool, and modern methods using robots. Mom is going through an intensive rehabilitation course. I want to note the respectful and caring attitude of the staff. Living conditions and food completely suit my mother.

The clinic is beautiful, but not for ordinary people. I can say about the doctors of the clinic that ordinary doctors, like everywhere else, are not interested in patients, and money is not interested. Those who are interested in patients are coordinators, doctors are organized, they went to Istanbul for rehabilitation, only Alexander helped us, thanks to him a lot. It is a great desire that the doctors of the clinic also work as the coordinator doctors work, consult with them before you go.

I get up, walk, try to put my stick away
When, with age, the body ceases to obey you, at first you blame the past years, and then the thought arises that you need to look for a panacea (a cure for all diseases). There are organizations in the world ready to find an antidote. BOOKIMED. (Head Evgeny Khotyanov. Responsible for the findings of the miracle doctors Oleksii Karahanov.) This is not the first time I apply and I always receive addresses of top-class specialists. They find the best in their field, they know the best doctors in the world. And they found medical athletes for me (medical-sports-physical complex “FIZYOMER” therapist. Under the guidance of Professor Dr. Turkan Tunerir). In Turkey, in the city with the speaking name Eskisehir (еskisehir), the Old City, where even nature awakens the life of organs subject to orthopedists. So: Airport-plane-Airport. And then comfort is everywhere: a meeting - the driver Yelmaz and the manager Melih and Yerzhan. A trip to the city and resettlement. Work with me For many hours a day every day, with warm, responsive hands and mechanisms that revive and lift those who are lying. The masters of therapeutic gymnastics Janan, Hussein and Ibrahim, and translator Golmir tirelessly translating for us and from us. They find the right points, muscles and joints on my body, connect some unprecedented, unheard of mechanisms. And so ... I get up, walk, try to put my stick away. Youth…. And everyone who comes here, according to my observations, receives individually all the necessary and unprecedented support anywhere else. Thanks to the Aesculapius, their smart hands, all the employees of the center. Academician Katsev Alexander

The Head Doctor is a great person with humility and patience to treat his patients well
Please check your facts as the hospital is very expensive for Turkey. However, very good facilities, most staff are committed and know their jobs well. The Head Doctor is a great person with humility and patience to treat his patients well. However, I am not aware of who is behind him and may influence some decisions. The facility should invest and innovate more. There are not enough staff and the patient’s progress suffered as a result. High turnover rate. I am quite surprised that the management team or main representative never once visited my family member, a long-term patient. Some nurses need to be trained as they lack essential customer service skills. Overall, good hospital with quality infrastructure and amenities. In this rehabilitation block, the patient rooms are mostly small and the bed-chair is very uncomfortable for long-term attendants. I would recommend the Hospital of course! We had a good experience despite few setbacks. Most problems were addressed professionally but the truth has to be told. It took some personal time and energy and the quality standards need to be there. We are not dealing with retail but health and you cannot expect your patients not to be demanding when they spend/pay a lot for medical care in Turkey.
Communication and goal sharing. Compassionate and well experienced. Very nice and seems knowledgeable. Speaks English well, problem-solver!
Ratings of hospital services. Recommendations and follow-up with hospital management on patient issues. Most contacts at the hospital are junior staff and problems not solved critically.

FAQ about Rehabilitation with "Lokomat" in Turkey

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

What is Lokomat rehabilitation and how does it work in Turkey?

Lokomat rehabilitation is a robotic gait-training system. It is used in Turkey to treat neurological conditions like stroke or spinal cord injuries. The motorised exoskeleton guides legs through natural walking patterns on a treadmill. This repetitive movement rebuilds neural pathways through neuroplasticity.

  • Robotic guidance: Exoskeletons at hips and knees maintain correct physiological alignment during walking.
  • Weight support: Harnesses offload a precise weight percentage to allow movement without strain.
  • Integrated therapy: Clinics combine Lokomat with hydrotherapy, virtual reality feedback, or electrical stimulation.
  • Expert supervision: Specialists like Dr Nurten Kuchukchakir at Romatem Hospitals oversee gait retraining protocols.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Turkish neuro-rehabilitation centres often integrate the Erigo verticalizer before starting Lokomat. This early-stage robotic tilting table helps stabilise blood pressure and prevents fainting in bed-bound patients. Starting here makes the transition to intensive walking practice much smoother and safer.

Patient Consensus: Repeated walking practice helps the brain relearn movement. At the same time, visual feedback from screens keeps patients motivated. Expect a supervised programme in Turkey. Robotic sessions there are just one part of intensive daily physiotherapy.

Which medical conditions are treated with Lokomat in Turkey?

Turkish physical therapy centres use Lokomat robotic gait training. It treats neurological and orthopaedic conditions that impair walking. Specialists apply this exoskeleton technology for stroke recovery, spinal cord injuries, cerebral palsy, and multiple sclerosis. This retrains motor function and improves gait stability.

  • Neurological recovery: Rehabilitates stroke, traumatic brain injury, and spinal cord trauma cases.
  • Paediatric support: Helps children with cerebral palsy improve motor development and walking.
  • Movement disorders: Manages mobility regression in Parkinson's disease and multiple sclerosis patients.
  • Orthopaedic rehabilitation: Retrains gait after major hip, knee, or ligament reconstruction surgeries.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Many clinics offer robotic gait training. However, leading facilities like Nobel Medical Center combine Lokomat with natural thermal mineral water and mud therapy. This intensive approach in Pamukkale targets both neuromuscular pathways and joint mobility. It often accelerates recovery compared to standard clinical settings.

Patient Consensus: Patients find Lokomat helps their brains relearn movement patterns after spinal injuries in Turkey. It works best as one part of a wider intensive therapy plan. It is not a standalone cure.

What are the top clinics and hospitals offering Lokomat therapy in Turkey?

Turkey offers robotic Lokomat therapy at specialised neurorehabilitation hubs like Romatem Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Hospital. These facilities use robot-assisted gait training for stroke, spinal cord injury, and cerebral palsy. Treatment often integrates thermal springs or neuromodulation within JCI-accredited environments.

  • Romatem Hospital: Dedicated rehabilitation chain featuring Lokomat labs across major Turkish cities.
  • Medipol Mega: Large university complex providing intensive paediatric and adult robotic gait training.
  • NP Istanbul: Specialised neurological facility combining Lokomat therapy with advanced brain mapping.
  • Nobel Center: Unique clinic pairing robotic walking assistance with thermal spring hydrotherapy.
  • Memorial Group: Premium JCI-accredited hospitals offering integrated physical medicine and robotic support.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Romatem Hospitals consistently show high efficiency by focusing exclusively on physical therapy. Unlike general hospitals, their entire infrastructure supports mobility recovery. Patients benefit from having Armeo and Lokomat systems under one roof.

Patient Consensus: Facilities in Turkey feel modern and exceptionally clean. Staff provide professional care while making international patients feel supported. The intensive daily schedules lead to noticeable progress during the stay.

How long is a typical Lokomat rehabilitation program in Turkey?

Typical Lokomat rehabilitation in Turkey lasts 2 to 6 weeks. Most patients complete intensive courses of 20 to 30 sessions. Severe spinal cord injuries or major strokes often require extended programs lasting 8 weeks or longer. This allows time to achieve functional gait improvements.

  • Session frequency: Patients typically attend intensive training sessions 5 days per week.
  • Daily duration: Each robotic gait training session lasts between 45 and 60 minutes.
  • Integrated therapy: Clinics combine Lokomat with hydrotherapy, medical massage, and conventional physiotherapy.
  • Rest intervals: Doctors may schedule 1-to-2 week rest breaks for muscle fatigue management.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Turkish rehabilitation centres like Nobel Medical and Romatem Hospitals rarely offer Lokomat alone. They bundle it with natural balneotherapy or thermal mineral water treatments. This combination speeds up muscle recovery. It allows patients to complete intensive 30-session blocks with less physical strain.

Patient Consensus: Rehabilitation in Turkey usually starts with intensive inpatient care followed by outpatient therapy. Patients recommend requesting a written schedule. This helps coordinate session frequency and discharge criteria clearly.

What is included in Turkish medical travel rehabilitation packages for Lokomat?

Turkish Lokomat rehabilitation packages typically include intensive robot-assisted gait training. They also provide specialist consultations and physical therapy sessions. Most bundles cover inpatient hospital stays or hotel accommodation. They also include VIP airport transfers and 24/7 multilingual coordination. This often saves Australian patients up to 38% compared to domestic costs.

  • Clinical assessments: Physiatrists and neurologists perform initial evaluations and baseline functional testing.
  • Robotic sessions: Packages specify daily 30–45 minute sessions using the Lokomat gait system.
  • Integrated therapies: Includes manual physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and balance training for 2–3 hours.
  • Full logistics: VIP airport-to-hospital transfers and medical interpreters for all doctor appointments.
  • Extended accommodation: Stays of 15–30 days frequently include lodging and meals for companions.

Bookimed Expert Insight: The highest value for Australians is found in hospital-based programmes. NP Istanbul Brain Hospital and Memorial Bahçelievler, for instance, bundle neuroimaging and specialist oversight into the price. Standalone clinics often charge extra for these essential diagnostic services.

Patient Consensus: These all-in-one medical travel bundles in Turkey simplify the recovery process significantly. Patients appreciate having accommodation, meals, and daily therapy coordinated within a single structured treatment programme.
