How Much Does Stem cell therapy for COPD Cost in Turkey in AUD?

Stem cell therapy for COPD in Turkey typically costs from AUD $17,144 to AUD $28,573. Prices depend on cell concentration, administration methods, and the number of sessions required. Patients save around 12% compared to Australia, where costs average AUD $19,572. Packages usually include pulmonary specialist consultations, laboratory processing, hospital stays, airport transfers, and translation services.

  • Cell concentration: High-dose protocols using 50 million cells or more typically carry a higher price.
  • Administration method: Combining IV infusion with nebulisation or intratracheal delivery adds a 20–30% premium.
  • Supplemental therapies: Adding exosome nebulisation or ozone therapy increases the total cost by approximately 30%.
  • Location: Major medical hubs for these protocols include Istanbul, Ankara, and Antalya.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Choosing JCI-accredited facilities in Istanbul provides high-standard care at competitive rates. For instance, Memorial Şişli Hospital was the first in Turkey to earn this international accreditation. Some protocols at Liv Hospital Ulus include advanced exosome treatments to enhance results. Expert pulmonologists like Dr. Mehmet Aydogan have published over 40 international papers on respiratory diseases. This academic expertise ensures patients receive protocols based on the latest clinical evidence.

The surgeon and the medical team were brilliant and explained everything to me, which put me at ease
My biggest concern was the procedure itself and the potential side effects. Fortunately, the surgeon and the medical team were brilliant and explained everything to me, which put me at ease. It has now been 15 days since my umbilical cord stem cell treatment. To be honest, I haven’t noticed any changes yet, which is to be expected at this early stage. There is still some pain when I touch the injection site. I’ve been sticking to the post-treatment restrictions most of the time, and the clinic itself was good but not entirely modern, which is why I’ve given it four stars. Overall, it was a good experience and now I just need to be patient.

May the peace and mercy of God be with you. As a great program, the people who use it are great. The answer is excellent, but the last time was through MC Hospital Türkiye. The translator is a man named Issa. It is very weak in translation and does not translate. Why is this from the words of the doctor? Because the doctor spoke for a long time, and the translation was short, so there was a lot of things. It does not translate for me, and it did not benefit me at all, and the examination didn't help, doctor

Overall, a great experience!!
I was very skeptical doing this and especially in another country. The staff did a great job with getting everything lined up. Dr. Gurkan was great, all staff was very good and attentive. I would just ask for a little more information on the process and the timeline for treatments to work, etc. Overall, a great experience!!
Everything was ready when we got there. Great hotel. Staff was great.
Language barrier was a little difficult. I would have preferred one assistant the entire time and not so many. Little better communication and information beforehand as to process and procedures.
About Bookimed service
I never knew who I was communicating with. Change in pricing agreement was difficult. Had to pay extra for treatment and TDCS therapy which was agreed to in our original discussions.

"The doctor was really nice and understanding
I came to the consultation without documents (analyzes), the clinic replied that I was not ready to give a consultation without relevant documents, which I think was good. I can’t say the clinic is good or bad for the above reason.

FAQ about Stem cell therapy for COPD in Turkey

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

Can stem cell therapy in Turkey cure COPD?

Stem cell therapy in Turkey manages COPD symptoms rather than providing a definitive cure. JCI-accredited centres use mesenchymal stem cells to reduce lung inflammation. This may slow disease progression. However, medical authorities do not recognise it as a complete reversal of lung damage.

  • Treatment goals: Therapy focuses on improving exercise tolerance and reducing respiratory flare-ups.
  • Clinical protocols: Specialists like Dr Mehmet Aydogan at Liv Hospital Ulus use specialised pulmonology diagnostics.
  • Safety standards: Memorial Şişli Hospital and others maintain JCI accreditation for international patient safety.
  • Research status: Most Turkish clinics classify these procedures as experimental symptom management protocols.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data suggests Istanbul is the primary hub. Specialists like Dr Irfan Eser hold memberships in the European Respiratory Society. Prices range from $12,000 to $20,000. Patients should choose clinics with dedicated pulmonology departments rather than general wellness centres.

Patient Consensus: Many travellers to Turkey report modest improvements in daily breathing and energy. Most advise having a local GP in Australia ready to coordinate follow-up care. This helps manage expectations regarding long-term results.

Who is a suitable candidate for stem cell therapy for COPD in Turkey?

Suitable candidates for COPD stem cell therapy in Turkey are typically non-smokers with moderate stage 2 or 3 disease. Ideal patients maintain lung function (FEV1) between 30% and 60%.

  • Disease stage: Patients with moderate GOLD stage 2 or 3 COPD are ideal candidates.
  • Lung function: Specialists often prioritise individuals with FEV1 levels between 30% and 60%.
  • Smoking status: Candidates must have ceased smoking for at least 12 to 24 months.
  • General health: Patients should have no active cancer or uncontrolled diabetes before starting therapy.
  • Clinical goal: Suitable for those aiming to reduce inflammation and improve daily breathing capacity.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Bookimed data shows Turkey is a leading destination with 390 clinics and 11,700 requests served. Major centres like Liv Hospital Ulus and Memorial Şişli Hospital hold JCI accreditation. This confirms Australian patients receive care at facilities meeting rigorous international safety standards.

Patient Consensus: Patients suggest that fitness for international travel is just as important as lung function. They also recommend having your detailed diagnostic history ready before checking suitability in Turkey.

How is stem cell therapy for COPD delivered at clinics in Turkey?

Clinics in Turkey deliver stem cell therapy for COPD using specialised protocols. These combine intravenous infusion with interventional bronchoscopy. These procedures target lung tissue repair at Joint Commission International (JCI) accredited hospitals in Istanbul. They typically use mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) known for their anti-inflammatory properties.

  • Delivery methods: Specialists combine intravenous delivery with bronchoscopic administration for direct lung tissue targeting.
  • Clinical setting: Procedures occur in sterile laboratories at centres like Liv Hospital Ulus in Istanbul.
  • Specialist teams: Pulmonologists like Dr Mehmet Aydogan use interventional bronchoscopy and ultrasonographic techniques during treatment.
  • Integrative care: Therapy often works alongside airway management to reduce systemic and local inflammation.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Many centres offer standard intravenous infusions. However, top-tier Turkish hospitals frequently integrate endobronchial ultrasonography (EBUS). This allows doctors to monitor airway health in real-time while delivering cells. For patients, this precision-guided approach helps cells reach areas of high inflammation more effectively.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Turkey often highlight the importance of knowing the cell source. They recommend checking if the clinic uses their own cells or donor cells. Many suggest requesting written protocols that detail delivery methods and follow-up care.

Which regions in Turkey are known for offering stem cell therapy for COPD?

Istanbul and Antalya are the primary regions in Turkey for stem cell therapy for COPD. These hubs house major JCI-accredited hospitals such as Liv Hospital Ulus and Medical Park Antalya. Specialists like Dr Mehmet Aydogan and Dr Irfan Eser treat international respiratory patients at these centres.

  • Istanbul medical hub: Centres like Memorial Şişli Hospital provide mesenchymal stem cell therapies.
  • Antalya clinical care: Medical Park Antalya Hospital Complex specialises in thoracic surgery and pulmonology.
  • Academic expertise: Specialists often train at Akdeniz University or Gülhane Military Medical Academy.
  • International standards: Leading facilities maintain Joint Commission International (JCI) and ISO quality certifications.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Istanbul serves the most patients, but Antalya is an emerging hub for respiratory care. Data shows clinics there often integrate thoracic surgery expertise with regenerative medicine. This dual-specialisation is crucial for patients with complex COPD who need surgical and cellular approaches.

Patient Consensus: Focus searches on private hospital groups in Istanbul for the most documented stem cell protocols. Patients value clinics that provide English-language medical reports and clear telehealth support after returning home.
