How Much Does Hooded eyelid surgery Cost in Turkey in AUD?

In Turkey, hooded eyelid surgery typically costs from AUD $2,136 to AUD $4,272. Prices primarily depend on the surgeon's experience, clinic location in hubs like Istanbul or Antalya, and the complexity of the correction. Patients save around 62% compared to Australia, where the average cost is AUD $8,544. Packages often include preoperative tests, local anaesthesia, follow-up exams, and language assistance.

  • Surgeon expertise: Specialists with over 20–30 years of experience often charge a 15–30% premium.
  • Clinic accreditation: JCI-accredited facilities often have higher safety standards and slightly higher pricing.
  • City variations: Clinics in Istanbul may cost 15–20% more than those in regional hubs like Izmir.
  • Technique: Combined upper and lower eyelid procedures typically increase the total cost by 60–80%.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Choosing a specialist hospital over a general clinic can offer superior surgical results. For instance, Dr. Ahmet Satici at Private Bagcilar Safak Hospital has performed over 20,000 cases. A specialised ptosis correction package with a professor like Dr. Satici costs approximately A$6,720. This includes remote monitoring and comprehensive consultations, ensuring expert care for complex hooded or droopy eyelid cases.

Data verified by Bookimed as of June 2026, based on patient requests and official quotes from 21 clinics worldwide. Median costs are based on real invoices (2025–2026) and updated monthly. Actual prices may vary.

We will be going back for other treatment and truly can’t recommend them enough
Sitting in the clinic in Antalya, the surgeon explained how the laser-assisted technique for my upper eyelids would function during the procedure. The whole service was smooth and we had a fantastic time throughout our stay. The aftercare was good. I was thrilled with how my eyes looked at 12 days, although at day 15 my biggest challenge is that they are still puffy. My eyes look natural and smooth when I smile. It is a process. We will be going back for other treatment and truly can’t recommend them enough. If you are considering eyelid surgery, ensure you have a few weeks to let the initial swelling settle.

The surgeon did an excellent job – the incisions were made using the traditional method and are now hidden in the natural folds of the skin
I was worried that the scars from the upper and lower eyelid surgery would be noticeable. Fortunately, the surgeon did an excellent job – the incisions were made using the traditional method and are now hidden in the natural folds of the skin. I have no complaints about him whatsoever. However, the overall impression was greatly marred by the clinic itself, where the conditions were unsatisfactory. Recovery is still ongoing. My eyes are still swollen, and I’ve noticed that when I smile, one side looks slightly different. I hope this will pass. The main advice I would give to anyone considering this procedure is to prepare thoroughly for the period before and after the operation.
The doctor is brilliant,
Surgeries should be carried out at a private hospital rather than a state hospital

From the very beginning of my enquiry at Bookimed to the last taxi ride to the airport after the procedures, everything went without a single obstacle
I was on 29 September 2025 at Lockman hekim clinic for breast and eyelid reduction. All my fears and doubts were in vain. From the very beginning of my enquiry at Bookimed to the last taxi ride to the airport after the procedures, everything went without a single obstacle. Everything went smoothly and smoothly. We arrived very early, we were taken to the clinic and our interpreter Olga was already in touch with us. We were placed in a beautifully decorated room, on the same day all the necessary medical parameters were taken. The doctor clearly explained what would happen and how it would be done. We were in the clinic for 3 days and then to the hotel. It was also clean, beautifully designed, rich breakfast. I recommend Lokman Hekim and Dr Marat Yaman if you want to change your appearance.
Food, staff, I can't single out anything, everything was good.

You will be nervous but when you finish, you will be glad you did it
My biggest worry going into this was the recovery pain. Honestly, the most challenging part so far post-op has been the donor site soreness from my love handles, not my face. My cheeks and temples, where the fat was transferred, are still quite swollen. It’s definitely too early to tell what the final volume will be. Right now, there is a slight difference in symmetry between the sides, but that can be expected at this stage. The surgeon and the clinic staff were straightforward and capable, which I appreciated. My one tip for anyone considering this is simple. You will be nervous but when you finish, you will be glad you did it.
The results were great which is the most important.
Would have loved more reassurance with procedure and what exactly the doctor was about to do. More detail explanation with recovery timelines and what to do during recovery .

When I smile, my eyes look better than before
What worried me most before the operation was how the recovery would go. It’s been 10 days now, and I can say it really is a process. My biggest challenge at the moment is that my eyes are a bit swollen, and the incision sites from the upper eyelid correction are still a bit red. Despite this, I can already see positive changes. When I smile, my eyes look better than before. That’s the main thing. The surgeon’s work and the clinic as a whole were of a high standard, so I’d give them a 4/5. To anyone considering something similar, my advice would be: be clear about what you want to do and stay as calm as possible.
A friendly manner. Attentiveness towards patients.
Pre-operative consultation. Computerised diagnostics.

Thank you so much 😊
I am very grateful to all the staff for their attentiveness and prompt assistance. I travelled alone, but I didn't feel lonely, I had support from all sides ☺️ Transfer is super, I didn't even expect that it would be so VIP, the drivers are very well-mannered, attentive, careful driving! The hotel is great, I got even more than положено👍🏼 The interpreter Olga provided all kinds of help, support and was always there for me! 🫶 I had a difficult operation on my nose, but Murat Yaman is a professional and did everything to the maximum and even more, I do not regret that out of all the options I was offered I chose him 🥰 I hope my nose will be beautiful) Thank you so much 😊
Transfer, ward, doctor, interpreter, hotel, staff
Some of the staff when I was lying in the ward forgot to bring me ice, water, but that's the way it is, I understand that they have a high workload and can't keep everything in their heads, so in the end they brought it a little later ) This is a trifle and the only small minus, I would not take it into account compared to the way they ran over me.

I am satisfied with the results
I applied to organise a blepharoplasty procedure in July. I was offered several doctors and clinics. There was also an online consultation. After a month in Antalya, I had a consultation with a doctor at the clinic and after the operation. All this time Valeria accompanied me and was in touch with me. I am satisfied with the results. If I need anything else, I will contact only here.

If I had a choice, I would contact the same surgeon and the same clinic
I had plastic surgery on the upper and lower eyelids. I can describe my experience as follows: an absolute feeling of safety and comfort throughout the provision of the service. Compassionate staff, talented surgeon, modern equipment and techniques. And subsequent support, which is also very important. If I had a choice, I would contact the same surgeon and the same clinic. On the upper eyelids the seams are very neat, on the lower eyelids I couldn’t find them at all. I am very grateful to my consultant doctor Stanislav from Bookimed for choosing the clinic and doctor, for his participation and support ❤️

But when I smile, the area looks so natural and smooth, which was the most important outcome for me
The incision lines from my combined upper and lower blepharoplasty are already barely noticeable. My surgeon used a laser-assisted method, and I'm very satisfied. The biggest challenge now is just patience, as my eyes are still puffy while they heal. It's a process. But when I smile, the area looks so natural and smooth, which was the most important outcome for me. The support from the staff and clinic has been consistent throughout.
After the shock of how I looked on day one post surgery the difference was seen daily. Swelling is still apparent day 15 post surgery but so pleased with procedure and would definitely recommend this hospital and Dr Omer Faruk Oge. Excellent service from start to finish.
Only one thing I was not happy with was cab driver who took myself and my Husband to really lovely hotel. Drove erratically and had another passenger in front seat. This was not the driver who collected us from Airport and returned us to Airport.

The staff at the hospital where I was operated on was terrible, they didn’t even give me water on the day after the operation, the next day the translator told me that water was paid, that’s why they didn’t give me water, it’s terrible, the consultation with the doctor lasted a total of 5 minutes and 5 minutes before the operation. After the operation, I was left alone in the hospital, there was no support from the hospital staff, after the anesthesia, the translator asked me 15 times if I wanted to go to the hotel, but I could barely lift my head from the pillow, in the morning I was somehow able to get up, I was very dizzy, I was in a terrible state for 3 days, no one asked about my well-being, 2 weeks had passed since the day of the operation, after leaving home, the doctor was no longer interested in how my nose was, whether I was okay. I don’t like the result so far, the doctor only removed the hump, but the nose remained just as big, I’ll see after some time, maybe it will shrink, which I doubt. I signed almost all the documents in Turkish and English, they gave me recommendations for care on the day of departure when they were no longer needed, when I asked why they answered me in English, so you’ll just learn it.

Hello. The operation was performed at the Estetik International clinic. The clinic looks expensive. Everything in it is beautiful, expensive, rich, an excellent ward, and so on. But. A lot but. I'll start. Bukemed organized everything quickly. They are great. Only I clarified a couple of times when to take tickets back home. They said on the 14th. And the operation was on the 10th. Analyzes on the 8th. 9 clinic day off. Arriving at the clinic, the translator Ozan, the translator, tells me that she should fly 17-18 back. Since the days are counted from the moment of the operation. That is, I was not correctly informed in bookimed. OK. I left earlier. The doctor said everything is healing. The clinic itself and its attitude towards me. I had a lift and an increase. The operation was carried out on the 10th at about 15.00. On the 11th at 14.00 I was told that I had an hour to get ready and the transfer would take me to the hotel. I begged to leave me for a day or at least until the morning in the clinic. Since it was terribly hard for me, everything hurt a lot. I couldn't get up, get dressed, etc. I felt dizzy and my blood pressure dropped. But I was told 250€ a day at the clinic or go to the hotel. I went to the hotel. I had drainage. It needs to be cleaned. I was told to do it myself. Once a translator came for me. Since I refused to do it myself because I could just faint from all this. The next day, a friend helped me to do this, and then they removed the drainage and sent me home the next day. And here the most interesting begins. Manager Katerina or coordinator. I don't know her position correctly. I'll attach a screen recording showing the dialog. Transfer to the airport is included in the price of all this. I started talking about the transfer in the evening before the day of departure. Then in the morning. Then I was told to expect a transfer. Then they said that it was broken or something else and that I would call a taxi myself. I couldn't do it because I couldn't pay. The card already had a limit on funds. There is such a law in Ukraine. 100.000 UAH per month I can spend abroad. For a very long time I was hung up with a taxi. The plane is in a couple of hours. A child is waiting at home. I'm on my nerves. Due to the lack of specifics and information, at the end of all this, I just lost my temper and could not find other words except mats and tears. In the end, they called me a taxi. I'm going. With full confidence that he was paid. The taxi driver shows the amount. And I understand that it is not paid. I had to ask for a card from their parents. Attach it to your phone and pay. Next, I go to the airport. I understand that I won't be able to. The clinic helped only in the fact that they checked me in for the flight. When they realized that I could really be late, and then they would have to resolve the issue with tickets and the hotel at their own expense, since it was all their fault. There are 100+ people in line at passport control. I understand I can't. Spit in an hour exactly. The gate has already been opened. And I decide to try. I just asked each person if I could go in front of him, and so I went in line and got on the plane. Now the clinic does not respond to me. Bookimed said that the money would be returned for a taxi, but this issue could be resolved for months. But I'm really looking forward to it. Katerina said the issue is under consideration by the authorities. For the past three days does not answer at what stage the question. Regarding the doctor. All OK. I had a difficult breast situation. He corrected her. But so far it's only been a week. I think it's definitely better than it was. But he didn't hear me. I asked for bigger breasts. I installed a 400 ml implant, but I don’t like it because there is no volume anyway.

I have to say I am very pleased with bookimed
I don't really write reviews, but I have to say I am very pleased with bookimed. They took care of any concerns I had. I would like to give a big thank you to Iryna for putting me at ease in finding the right hospital for my treatment, which was within my budget. She forwarded me 4-5 quotes from different hospitals and clinics. I wanted to have 2 procedures done and finding a place to have both done at the same time must have been hard for her to find but she came through. Thank you Iryna

FAQ about Hooded eyelid surgery in Turkey

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

Is it safe to have hooded eyelid surgery in Turkey?

Hooded eyelid surgery in Turkey is safe when performed by board-certified specialists at accredited facilities. Many Istanbul clinics hold JCI accreditation. This means they comply with rigorous global safety standards. Surgeons often hold European Board (FEBOPRAS) certifications. Many have performed over 5,000 procedures, providing high technical proficiency for Australian patients.

  • Accredited facilities: Memorial Şişli Hospital was Turkey's first JCI-accredited facility. It meets strict international safety protocols.
  • Expert specialists: Dr Burak Pasinlioglu is FEBOPRAS-certified and has completed over 5,000 successful surgical procedures.
  • High volume: Prof Dr Ahmet Satici performs 1,000+ eyelid procedures annually. This volume reduces risks through repetition.
  • Specialised care: Clinics like Ento Surgical Medical Center focus on delicate maxillofacial and plastic surgery work.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Many general surgeons perform blepharoplasty. However, the highest safety levels are found with specialists like Prof Dr Ahmet Satici. He includes consultations with an ophthalmologist. This ensures eye health is evaluated alongside cosmetic correction. Such checks are vital for preventing post-operative dry-eye issues.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Turkey suggest confirming exactly which surgeon performs the operation. They advise checking that work is not delegated to a junior clinician. They value remote telehealth monitoring once they return home to Australia.

Are Turkish plastic surgeons qualified to perform hooded eyelid surgery?

Turkish plastic surgeons are highly qualified to perform hooded eyelid surgery. Many hold international certifications from the European Board of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (EBOPRAS). Others hold credentials from the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS). Surgeons commonly perform 1,000+ eyelid procedures annually in JCI-accredited facilities.

  • Board certification: Surgeons like Dr Burak Pasinlioglu hold FEBOPRAS and ISAPS credentials for facial aesthetics.
  • High-volume expertise: Practitioners such as Dr Md Caner Kaya have performed 10,000+ surgeries throughout their careers.
  • Specialised training: Specialists often complete international fellowships at centres like the Cleveland Clinic or Brussels.
  • Clinical standards: Major hospitals such as Memorial Şişli were the first in Turkey to earn JCI accreditation.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While many general plastic surgeons perform blepharoplasty, patients can find specialised ophthalmology-focused practices. Dr Ahmet Satici's practice is one such example. These specialists focus entirely on the eyes. They perform over 1,000 eyelid-specific procedures every year. This often provides more precise functional and aesthetic outcomes for complex hooded cases.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Turkey suggest checking individual board certifications. They also recommend requesting before-and-after photos for mature eyelid anatomy. Many appreciated using telehealth follow-ups and language support to manage their recovery after returning to Australia.

What health risks are associated with hooded eyelid surgery in Turkey?

Hooded eyelid surgery in Turkey involves risks such as dry eyes, infection, and asymmetry. Specific complications include lagophthalmos. This occurs when removing excessive skin prevents the eye from closing properly. Most clinics manage these risks through preoperative screenings. They also use consultations with ophthalmologists to check ocular health before operating.

  • Eyelid closure issues: Removing too much skin causes lagophthalmos. This leads to chronic eye dryness.
  • Vision-related risks: Rare bleeding behind the eye requires immediate specialist attention to prevent vision loss.
  • Aesthetic concerns: Asymmetry or a hollow appearance occurs if fat removal is not precisely balanced.
  • Healing complications: Poor wound healing or noticeable scarring can occur without proper postoperative incision care.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While most clinics offer surgery by general plastic surgeons, some Istanbul centres provide ophthalmologist-led eyelid care. Dr. Ahmet Satici at Safak Hospital has performed 20,000+ procedures. Choosing a specialist who uses remote monitoring helps manage recovery safely once patients return to Australia.

Patient Consensus: Turkey patients highlight the importance of discussing conservative tissue removal to avoid over-correction. They found using lubricating drops early and arranging local follow-up with a GP made managing initial dryness easier.

How long do I need to stay in Turkey for hooded eyelid surgery?

Patients should plan to stay in Turkey for 6 to 7 days for hooded eyelid surgery. This timeframe allows for a consultation, the 1–2 hour procedure, and a final check-up. The surgeon removes stitches before the long-haul flight back to Australia.

  • Procedure duration: Surgeons typically complete the upper blepharoplasty within 1 to 2 hours.
  • Hospital stay: Most eyelid procedures are outpatient, meaning patients leave hospital the same day.
  • Recovery window: A 5–7 day hotel stay allows initial swelling and bruising to subside.
  • Clinical follow-up: Stitches are usually removed on day 5 or 6 before flying home.
  • Remote monitoring: Some specialists, like Dr. Ahmet Satici, offer telehealth follow-ups for international patients.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Patient data shows most clinics offer outpatient surgery. However, choosing a package with a one-night hospital stay provides better monitoring. Packages at Dr. Safa Manav Clinic offer this benefit. This helps Australians managing significant jet lag alongside surgical recovery.

Patient Consensus: Planning at least 7 days in Turkey provides a buffer for check-ups and rest. Most patients find their swelling settles enough within a week to feel comfortable flying.

What is the typical recovery timeline for hooded eyelid surgery in Turkey?

Recovery from hooded eyelid surgery in Turkey spans 7 to 14 days for most social activities. Patients usually stay for 7 days. This allows board-certified surgeons to remove sutures before the flight to Australia. Initial swelling and bruising subside within 2 weeks.

  • Immediate phase: Days 1–3 involve peak swelling, bruising, and tightness around the eyelid incisions.
  • Suture removal: Surgeons typically remove stitches on day 7 during a mandatory follow-up appointment.
  • Public appearance: Most patients feel comfortable in public by day 10 as bruising fades.
  • Exercise resumption: Strenuous activity or heavy lifting can usually resume after 3–6 weeks.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Many clinics offer outpatient surgery. Choosing an all-inclusive package at Dr. Safa Manav Clinic provides support during the first 48 hours. This helps Australians recovering far from home without immediate family assistance.

Patient Consensus: Recovery in Turkey involves watery eyes and temporary unevenness. Most patients report appearing presentable within 2 weeks. Expect eyes to look worse before improving. Final symmetry appears after several months of subtle settling.

Will there be visible scars after hooded eyelid surgery in Turkey?

Hooded eyelid surgery in Turkey leaves minimal scarring. Surgeons place incisions within the natural eyelid crease. These marks are invisible when eyes are open. They typically fade into thin, pale lines. Thin eyelid skin heals quickly due to excellent blood supply in the face.

  • Crease placement: Incisions sit inside the natural fold to stay hidden during normal facial expressions.
  • Surgical expertise: Board-certified surgeons like Dr Can Zeliha Gul have performed 4,600+ aesthetic procedures.
  • Healing phase: Initial redness or firmness lasts some weeks before the scar becomes nearly imperceptible.
  • Technique precision: JCI-accredited hospitals like Memorial Sisli Hospital use standardised protocols for clean healing.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Turkish specialists often combine hooded eyelid correction with ophthalmological expertise for perfect crease alignment. Dr Ahmet Satici performs 1,000+ eyelid procedures annually and includes ophthalmologist consultations. This dual focus keeps the scar exactly where the natural fold occurs for the most discreet result.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Turkey report that incision lines look like natural folds within months. They recommend viewing long-term before-and-after photos to see how scars completely vanish over time.

Is hooded eyelid surgery in Turkey covered by my Australian health insurance?

Australian Medicare and private health insurance generally exclude coverage for medical procedures performed overseas. Most lid correction surgeries in Turkey are considered elective cosmetic procedures. While costs range from $1,500 to $3,000, patients typically pay out-of-pocket. These services sit outside the Australian healthcare system.

  • Medicare exclusion: Medicare provides no rebates for any surgical or medical services received abroad.
  • Private health limits: Australian funds usually only cover treatments performed within registered Australian facilities.
  • Cosmetic classification: Insurers rarely cover blepharoplasty unless it is medically necessary to correct vision.
  • Significant savings: Prices in Turkey offer up to 62% savings compared to Australian averages.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While insurance is unlikely to help, some Turkish clinics provide all-inclusive value. Dr. Safa Manav Clinic and others often bundle airport transfers, pre-operative tests, and follow-up care. This transparency makes budgeting easier for Australians than navigating fragmented local fees.

Patient Consensus: Patients find Turkish clinics accessible with English-speaking staff and simplified booking. Many report that the lower total cost more than offsets the lack of insurance rebates.
