How Much Does Nasal polyp surgery Cost in Turkey in AUD?

Nasal polyp surgery in Turkey typically costs from AUD $2,883 to AUD $4,614. The final price depends on the surgical technique used, the extent of the polyps, and the clinic location. Australians can save approximately 56% compared to local private fees, which average AUD $8,506. Packages in medical hubs like Istanbul and Antalya often cover the surgical fee, anaesthetic, and initial medications.

  • Endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS): This precision technique often forms the baseline for modern polypectomy costs.
  • Bilateral procedures: Treating both nasal passages typically increases the total cost by 30–40%.
  • Septoplasty combination: Adding surgery to correct a deviated septum increases costs but improves respiratory outcomes.
  • City variations: Prices in Istanbul are typically 15–20% higher than in regional hubs like Izmir.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Paying for a multi-specialty hospital like Hisar Hospital Intercontinental provides extra value for Australians. These JCI-accredited centres offer on-site pathology and advanced imaging, which reduces wait times for pre-op clearance. Experienced surgeons like Dr. Serkan Orhan have performed over 5,500 procedures, ensuring high surgical volume. Some centres even provide 24/7 post-treatment monitoring to track your recovery before you fly home.

Honestly, my recovery so far has been better than expected
The price was exactly as agreed. My surgery for Turbinate reduction also included a septoplasty to straighten my septum, and fix my concha bullosa. Done under general anesthesia. Honestly, my recovery so far has been better than expected. The support has been solid; the clinic stayed in touch, and it was particularly helpful that my doctor was available to answer all of my follow-up questions. That provided a lot of reassurance. Everything really felt like a luxury first class experience. After half my life living off nasal sprays and congestion I’m now ready to live the other part of life with a nose that breathes! Just go for it. Lifes too short to put up with suffering that can be medically fixed!
Warm Doctor and staff, feels like a luxury first class experience.

Would 100% recommend all of Bookimed, Medical Park and Dr
Had my tonsils taken out in Medical Park Antalya Hastanesi with Dr. Harun Doğru. Great experience, from messaging Bookimed, i was hesitant because reviews were all so positive, i was scared it would be a scam but after the experience I have absolutely nothing bad to say. They were so helpful, they booked everything for me and required very little from me. Once I flew out there, I was met with a fantastic interpreter Kamil who was fantastic, I would be completely lost without him. Then to Dr. Harun, thank you for a smooth operation and recovery. Would 100% recommend all of bookimed, Medical Park and Dr. Harun. Thank you all for a positive experience!

FAQ about Nasal polyp surgery in Turkey

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

Are there long-term complications following nasal polyp surgery in Turkey?

Nasal polyp surgery in Turkey is generally safe. Common long-term considerations include polyp recurrence and the need for ongoing medical management.

Recurrence is the most frequent issue. Many patients require topical steroid sprays and regular saline irrigation to prevent new growth long after theatre.

  • Polyp recurrence: Polyps can grow back. This often requires ongoing medical management or revision.
  • Revision surgery: Over 36% of patients may eventually require a second operation to clear regrowth.
  • Sense of smell: Changes to smell can occasionally be permanent despite improvements in nasal airflow.
  • Vocal and tear effects: Rare risks include watery eyes if tear duct pathways are slightly disturbed.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Turkish specialists like Dr. Selman Sarica at Hisar Hospital Intercontinental have performed over 1,000+ endoscopic sinus procedures. Data shows that large JCI-accredited centres in Istanbul manage high patient volumes. This typically correlates with lower surgical complication rates for complex sinus anatomy.

Patient Consensus: Surgery in Turkey significantly improves breathing. However, patients note that saline rinses and steroid sprays are essential daily habits afterwards. Most suggest arranging telehealth follow-ups before flying home. This helps ensure any persistent congestion or crusting is managed correctly.

What type of surgery is used for nasal polyps in Turkey?

Surgeons in Turkey primarily use Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (FESS) to treat nasal polyps. This technique involves removing polyps through the nostrils using an endoscope and microdebrider. Specialists at JCI-accredited centres like Memorial Şişli Hospital and Medipol Mega University Hospital perform these procedures routinely.

  • Standard approach: FESS clears polyps and opens sinus drainage pathways through the nostrils.
  • Endoscopic polypectomy: Surgeons use high-definition cameras to remove polyps without any external incisions.
  • Combined procedures: Specialists often perform septoplasty alongside polyp removal to correct deviated septums.
  • Precision technology: Microdebriders allow for precise tissue extraction. This preserves healthy nasal mucosa.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Bookimed data shows that 390 clinics in Turkey provide nasal polyp surgery. Leading surgeons like Dr Selman Sarica have performed over 1,000+ procedures. Patients should confirm if their surgeon will also expand sinus pathways. This step is vital to reduce recurrence compared to simple polyp removal.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Turkey appreciate that procedures occur through the nostrils with no visible scarring. They often clarify the surgery scope beforehand. This helps to address both polyps and drainage issues.

How long should I plan to stay in Turkey for nasal polyp surgery?

Most patients should plan a 6 to 8 day stay in Turkey for nasal polyp surgery. This allows for pre-operative assessments and the procedure. It also includes a final specialist check-up on day 6 or 7. Modern endoscopic techniques often permit same-day discharge or a single night in hospital.

  • Hospital stay: Many patients stay in a ward for 1 night after endoscopic surgery.
  • Surgery duration: The procedure usually takes 1 hour using endoscopic tools.
  • Recovery timeframe: Initial healing requires 5–7 days before patients can safely fly long-haul.
  • Follow-up care: Support before and after surgery includes removing nasal stents or packing.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While basic polypectomy is common, surgeons like Dr. Serkan Orhan at Memorial Bahçelievler have performed 5,500+ treatments. Bookimed data shows that 80% of patients combine polyp removal with septoplasty or turbinate surgery. Adding these corrections only extends the stay by 1 day but significantly improves long-term breathing.

Patient Consensus: Travellers from Australia suggest building in buffer days for pre-op tests. They also suggest avoiding immediate flights. Patients recommend staying until the final review to get specialist clearance before managing cabin pressure changes.
