How Much Does Breast Capsulectomy Cost in Turkey in AUD?

Breast capsulectomy in Turkey typically costs from AUD $4,601 to AUD $8,339. The final price depends on the surgical complexity, the specific clinic tier, and the chosen city. In Australia, patients often face average costs of AUD $14,378, meaning they can save approximately 55% by travelling. Standard inclusions usually cover surgeon fees, hospital charges, anaesthetic, and post-operative follow-up care.

  • Procedure complexity: Total capsulectomy often costs more than partial tissue removal due to increased theatre time.
  • City variations: Medical hubs like Istanbul and Antalya are the primary destinations for this surgery.
  • Revision surgery: Combining capsulectomy with implant replacement or a breast lift typically adds 40–60% to costs.
  • Package inclusions: All-inclusive bundles often cover VIP airport transfers and 4-star or 5-star hotel accommodation.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Choosing a clinic with high surgical volumes can offer better value than boutique centres. For instance, Dr. Med in Istanbul maintains a 98.5% success rate for mommy makeovers. It is a popular choice for Australians. Experienced surgeons like Dr. Furkan Karabekmez, who trained at the Mayo Clinic, perform procedures in JCI-accredited facilities. This provides peace of mind without the high Australian private fees.

Data verified by Bookimed as of July 2026, based on patient requests and official quotes from 42 clinics worldwide. Median costs are based on real invoices (2025–2026) and updated monthly. Actual prices may vary.

The surgeon was fantastic (a clear 5/5)
I was most anxious about the recovery, especially after my first surgery and knowing this revision involved a capsulectomy.I was so relieved. This whole process has been much easier. The surgeon was fantastic (a clear 5/5), and the new implants already feel so much more natural than the ones I had for just a few years. The clinic itself is a modern, comfortable space. My overall rating is a 4 because there were some minor communication issues with the staff, but it wasn't anything that would stop me from recommending the clinic based on the surgical care I received. All my previous symptoms are gone.

The surgeon dr ozturk was fantastic, friendly, knowledgeable and inspired confidence immediately
My biggest worry was what recovery would feel like this time, especially after having my old implants for well over ten years. It turned out to be about the same as my first surgery. The surgeon dr ozturk was fantastic, friendly, knowledgable and inspired confidence immediately performing a position adjustment and implant replacement, though it's still hard to compare the final result as surgery was only 5 days ago. The hospital facility was clean and private room was great. My main issue was with the general staff support, which could have been more attentive, having said that whenever I called they attended immediately and were kind. Despite that, the medical care itself was solid, and I'm satisfied with the outcome.
Translator amazing as was Dr Ozturk, friendly, professional, knowledgeable. Co-ordination of transport, Appointments etc smooth
Hospital staff could’ve been more proactive eg not leaving things out of reach, ensuring drinks etc on hand, although having said that they immediately attended any call bells and were kind, I just didn’t want to trouble them more than I needed to.

I’ve been pleasantly surprised
My main worry going into this was the recovery pain, but I’ve been pleasantly surprised. It’s not that painful! Of course, there's discomfort, but it was far more manageable than I anticipated, especially while having a 6 month old baby to care for. The biggest challenge for me has honestly just been sleeping upright. I’m still in the early stages of healing, but my incisions looked good when the initial bandages were removed at the clinic, my nipple position has definitely been improved. The surgeon and the clinic staff were very professional and attentive throughout the entire process, providing clear instructions and support. All staff that I came into contact with were polite and caring.
I really liked how organised everything was. The schedule was clearly explained and followed well throughout, so I didn’t have to worry or feel stressed. The surgeon was very kind and even joked with me before the operation, which helped me feel more relaxed. I was also able to bring my family, including my young son, and both the hotel and hospital accommodated us really well.
Any questions I had were answered really well. However, after surgery it can sometimes feel a little overwhelming taking in all the information, so an aftercare information sheet, including guidance on dressing removal and recovery advice would be really helpful.

The whole team at the clinic was solid
My biggest worry was the recovery pain, but it turned out to be manageable. At 15 days post-op, it’s mostly just a mild discomfort. The surgeon used an under-the-breast incision and placed the implants under the muscle. The whole team at the clinic was solid. I will say, sleeping is still a struggle and my nipples are slightly numb, but I was prepared for these temporary things. For anyone else considering this, my best recovery hack is to stay on top of your medication schedule. Keep track of your painkillers; don't miss any dose, especially in the beginning. It truly helps.
Transfers, timing, doctor, clinic, communication, reassurance- all of those was great

I highly recommend them
Dr Ergin Er was very thorough and answered all of my questions. His English was great and my coordinators also spoke perfect English. The nurses were very kind and did a great job. Since I have been a nurse for 30+ years in USA, it was interesting to see how things were done, and I felt very comfortable and well-cared for throughout the entire process. I am so happy with my results and I am very happy with my decision to proceed with having this surgery at Istanbul Aesthetic Center. I highly recommend them.
My results
I would have liked more thorough instructions post op, maybe some printed instructions for the following weeks of recovery regarding wound care and activity limitations.
About Bookimed service
Very easy process to get connected to the center and get answers to my questions. My only negative was I felt like once I paid my deposit, they stopped reaching out to me. I had to beg to get preop instructions about medications and travel and what to expect. It would have been nice to have more of that information without having to beg for it. Overall great experience

I picked Dr B because I thought he was capable of my requirements that most surgeons didn't have enough advanced skills for
I liked that transport was taken care off from airport landing to departure, from hotel to clinic nearly every day even though it was only a 15 minute walk. The B travel- cab service were always on time. The group of nurses in the hospital were very caring and friendly. Most could speak english or a little and those that couldn't we would use Google translate. When the nurses changed shift they would all come to your room to say bye and introduce you to the changover ( I thought this showed nice manners). I picked Dr B because I thought he was capable of my requirements that most surgeons didn't have enough advanced skills for. He was very honest and had a good eye to notice my imperfections, which were only true and I was impressed he noticed them so quickly. He was caring and I felt comfortable with him. I can't yet see the results because im so swollen. It is frustrating that you can't share the results together. I will have an idea in a few months of my breast and rhinoplasty surgery.
VIP treatment transport, WhatsApp group of nurses, travel team & Drs assistant
That I was asked to pay for an Ultrasound , which was mentioned only two days before my arrival. I had made in total early on and didn't want extra cost coming up. Anyway the clinic staff were fair and we settled.

My surgeon, Dr Ergin Er was thorough in the pre-op consultation and speaks perfect English so no barriers there
From the first enquiry into my surgery journey the staff at Bookimed were very attentive & responded to any questions in a speedy manner, this was followed through consistently during my stay so I’d like to say thank you personally to Yasin & Ege. My surgeon, Dr Ergin Er was thorough in the pre op consultation and speaks perfect English so no barriers there,. My surgery went well and was offered pain relief as & when need, be mindful that the nursing staff speak very little English so best to use a translation app. The food offered was ok however I was given my evening meal at 5pm and was hungry later in the evening, I couldn’t use a delivery app without a Turkish cell number so I’d recommend to take snacks & drinks, water is available from a cooler but I craved a Coke Zero lol.

FAQ about Breast Capsulectomy in Turkey

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

Are Turkish clinics safe for a breast capsulectomy?

Turkish clinics are safe for breast capsulectomy when patients choose JCI-accredited hospitals and board-certified surgeons. High-volume centres in Istanbul and Antalya maintain safety standards comparable to Australia. They employ surgeons with international fellowships and use modern surgical technology for complex breast revisions.

  • Hospital accreditations: Joint Commission International (JCI) and ISO certifications show clinics meet global patient safety standards.
  • Surgeon credentials: Top specialists hold European (EBOPRAS) or Turkish board certifications and American Society memberships.
  • Australian relevance: Clinics like Estetik International and Dr. MED professionally cater to Australian patients.
  • Revision expertise: Surgeons such as Prof. Dr. Furkan Karabekmez offer structured telehealth follow-up for international patients.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data shows many professor-level surgeons in Turkey hold Mayo Clinic or European fellowships. For instance, Prof. Dr. Furkan Karabekmez integrates his Mayo Clinic research background into his practice. Choosing these academic-heavy profiles often provides a safer experience for complex en bloc capsulectomies.

Patient Consensus: Patients find Turkish surgeons highly experienced in complex breast revisions. They often suggest staying longer for initial recovery. Clear communication and structured follow-up plans are essential for a safe return trip to Australia.

How can I identify a qualified surgeon for a breast capsulectomy in Turkey?

Verify a surgeon holds a Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery specialisation and a Turkish Ministry of Health licence. Qualified practitioners in Turkey often hold EBOPRAS or ISAPS certifications for breast revision procedures.

  • Official registration: Confirm the surgeon is licensed by the Turkish Ministry of Health.
  • Board certifications: Look for EBOPRAS fellowship or Turkish Society (TPRECD) membership.
  • Hospital accreditation: Surgeons at JCI-accredited facilities like Hisar Hospital Intercontinental meet global standards.
  • Revision expertise: Prefer specialists such as Prof. Dr. Furkan Karabekmez with Mayo Clinic training.
  • Volume indicators: Experienced doctors like Dr. Ali Nurhan Özbaba have performed 30,000+ operations.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Many search for the lowest price. However, the safest capsulectomy choice is a professor-led clinic. University-affiliated specialists in Ankara and Istanbul often provide structured postoperative follow-up. This is vital for Australians who cannot easily return for physical reviews.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Turkey suggest checking names against official government lists rather than social media. Successful experiences involved clear medical justifications for removing capsules. These patients also had scheduled online consultations before flights.

What is the recovery timeline for a breast capsulectomy in Turkey?

Recovery after breast capsulectomy in Turkey typically requires 7 to 10 days in-country before flying home. Initial healing takes 1 to 2 weeks for light activities. Full tissue settling and scar maturation generally occur over 3 to 6 months.

  • Hospital stay: Most patients stay overnight for monitoring after total capsulectomy and explant procedures.
  • Drain management: Surgical drains may remain for 4 days to manage fluid and swelling.
  • Work return: Patients typically return to sedentary office work within 7 to 10 days.
  • Physical activity: Avoid heavy lifting and strenuous exercise for at least 4 to 6 weeks.
  • Support garments: Wearing a surgical compression bra is required for roughly 3 months after surgery.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Turkish clinics often combine capsulectomies with mastopexy or implant revision. Surgeons like Dr. Furkan Karabekmez provide structured telehealth follow-up. This is vital for Australians managing long-term tissue settling after returning home.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Turkey report feeling tight and swollen for several months. Their chest appearance notably improves by the 3-month mark. Most manage pain with non-narcotic medication within 2 days.

What is the difference between an en bloc capsulectomy and a standard capsulectomy in Turkey?

The main difference depends on whether scar tissue remains intact during removal. An en bloc capsulectomy removes the implant and its entire surrounding capsule together. This creates a single, sealed unit. A standard capsulectomy involves removing the implant first. The surgeon then takes out scar tissue separately or in pieces.

  • Unified removal: En bloc keeps the capsule sealed to prevent silicone or bacterial leakage.
  • Piecemeal approach: Standard capsulectomy removes tissue in segments. This often allows for smaller surgical incisions.
  • Incision size: En bloc typically needs larger openings to pass the intact, enlarged capsule through.
  • Surgical goal: Both techniques aim to resolve capsular contracture or address breast implant illness symptoms.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While en bloc is technically demanding, Turkish surgeons like Dr. Furkan Karabekmez often use these techniques in JCI-accredited hospitals. Data shows that 1-night hospital stays are standard. Patients should confirm if the price covers a true oncologic-style en bloc or a total capsulectomy.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Turkey highlight the importance of getting surgical plans in writing. This clarifies if the capsule is removed in one piece. Many felt peace of mind choosing fuller removal to avoid local tissue contamination or future scar issues.

Will I require a breast lift (mastopexy) following a breast capsulectomy in Turkey?

A breast lift is not always essential after a breast capsulectomy. The need for mastopexy depends on your skin elasticity and the size of the removed implants. It also depends on your remaining natural breast tissue. Surgeons in Turkey assess these factors during consultations for the best aesthetic outcome.

  • Skin elasticity: Healthy skin may retract naturally. This makes a surgical lift unnecessary for some patients.
  • Implant history: Larger implants or long-term placement typically stretch the skin. This often requires a lift.
  • Combined procedures: Doctors like Dr Murat Yaman commonly perform breast lifts alongside capsulectomies for better reshaping.
  • Staged approach: Some specialists recommend waiting for tissue to heal before deciding on a secondary lift.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Bookimed data shows capsulectomy costs range from $3,200 to $5,800. Adding a lift is a popular choice for many. Professor Furkan Karabekmez and other Turkish specialists offer packages that include online pre-travel consultations. This allows Australian patients to receive a preliminary assessment before flying to Turkey.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Turkey noted that combining a lift with a capsulectomy prevents a deflated appearance. Many felt more confident having both procedures done at once. This addressed significant sagging from older, larger implants.

What does a breast capsulectomy procedure involve in Turkey?

Breast capsulectomy in Turkey involves surgically removing the scar tissue capsule formed around breast implants. This treats capsular contracture or rupture. Specialists perform total or en bloc removals in JCI-accredited hospitals. They often combine this with implant revision or a breast lift to restore breast shape.

  • Surgical techniques: Surgeons perform total capsulectomy or en bloc removal for complete capsule extraction.
  • Anaesthesia protocol: Theatre teams use general anaesthesia for the 1.5 to 3 hour surgery.
  • Hospital facilities: Procedures take place in internationally accredited centres like Lokman Hekim Istanbul Hospital.
  • Follow-up care: Clinics provide structured postoperative support and online consultations for international patients.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data across 390+ Turkish clinics shows top surgeons like Dr Furkan Karabekmez often hold EBOPRAS certification. These specialists typically work within multidisciplinary hospitals. This ensures immediate access to pathology and imaging if capsule histology is needed.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Turkey often combine capsule removal with a lift. They also manage post-op swelling and surgical drains. Most emphasise staying locally until drains are removed. They also suggest discussing DVT prevention before long-haul flights.

How long does a breast capsulectomy surgery usually take in Turkey?

Breast capsulectomy surgery in Turkey typically takes between 1 and 3 hours. Theatre time can reach 4 hours for a full capsulectomy with an implant explant. Factors like scar tissue and simultaneous breast lifts influence the duration.

  • Procedure duration: Operative time ranges from 1 to 3 hours under general anaesthesia.
  • Clinical stay: Patients usually remain in the hospital for 1 night for observation.
  • Technique impact: Total capsulectomy takes longer than partial removal due to meticulous dissection.
  • Surgeon experience: Specialists like Dr Furkan Karabekmez at his Ankara clinic offer revision expertise.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Turkish hospitals like Hisar Hospital Intercontinental serve over 250,000 patients annually. This scale often means surgical teams are highly specialised. They frequently perform revision work for international patients where scar tissue is significantly more complex.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Turkey highlight that full capsulectomy and explant operations often require 3 to 4 hours. They recommend building extra recovery time before flying back to Australia after such lengthy anaesthesia.
