How Much Does Breast Capsulectomy Cost in Thailand in AUD?

Breast capsulectomy in Thailand typically costs between AUD $4,587 / ฿A155,973 and AUD $8,601 / ฿A292,450. The final price depends on surgical complexity, particularly if a total en bloc removal is required for Breast Implant Illness. Patients from Australia save around 54% compared to local private fees, which average AUD $14,336 / ฿A487,417. Most Thai medical packages include surgeon fees, anaesthetic, a private hospital stay, and local transfers in Bangkok.

  • En bloc capsulectomy: typically costs more than partial removal due to the technical complexity of removing the entire capsule.
  • Revision combination: adding new implants or a breast lift increases the base price by 30–50%.
  • Accreditation premium: JCI-accredited hospitals in Bangkok often charge 15–20% more for meeting international safety standards.
  • City hubs: Bangkok remains the primary location, though prices in regional hubs like Phuket may vary.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Thailand offers exceptional value for complex breast revisions where surgical volume matters. Specialists like Dr Phatcharasak Kraisornphongsakul have performed over 20,000 procedures, providing a level of experience rarely found elsewhere. While basic removal start around A$3,500, choosing JCI-accredited facilities like Bangpakok 9 International Hospital ensures Australian-standard safety protocols are met during these intricate surgeries.

Data verified by Bookimed as of July 2026, based on patient requests and official quotes from 42 clinics worldwide. Median costs are based on real invoices (2025–2026) and updated monthly. Actual prices may vary.

I am very happy with the care I received
The doctor is very experienced and his recommendations are based on your body type. The staff is very friendly, everyone was always available to answer any questions or needs, even the doctor. The clinic was very clean and comfortable. I am very happy with the care I received. My surgery was perfect, without any problems. Everyone did an incredible job and was concerned about my speedy recovery.
The availability of the doctor for any questions before or after surgery and during my recovery.

About Bookimed service
It was very helpful, they coordinated the type of surgery I wanted, prices, transfers, medical exams, dates, everything. I booked 6 months in advance and thought they would forget about my reservation and it was not like that.. they were pending all the time and any requests I may have. Even when my flight change in hours and dates. They took care and coordinated everything.

The whole experience was excellent from start to finish
The whole experience was excellent from start to finish. My husband and I are very happy with the results. Thank you for the team’s expertise and care.
The results of both breast augmentation and lower blethoplasy was wonderful. The Doctor, nurse Margie, Ice and the other staff were attentive and caring.
I have no negative comments.
About Bookimed service
Our daughter wants to go back next July for a nose job. Bookimed was excellent at communicating and making sure we were comfortable with each step of the process. The hotel where we stayed had the convenient location and all the amenities we needed. The breakfast was delicious with very accommodating staff.

I’m feeling better than expected this early on
My main worries before the procedure were the recovery process and the final look of the scars. My surgeon was very direct about both, clearly explaining the realistic results, the swelling timeline, and exactly where the incisions for my full neck lift would be placed behind the ears. This honesty was appreciated. The procedure was done under general anesthesia, and I’m feeling better than expected this early on. The clinic’s support has been solid; they gave me a clear aftercare guide and have been easy to reach with questions. It was also a relief that there were no additional expenses on top of the quoted price.

The clinic staff were competent, and the surgeon was clear in our consultations
Waking up, I felt groggy but managed. The clinic staff were competent, and the surgeon was clear in our consultations. The incision was placed under the breast, which is what I wanted. I am still in the early recovery phase, and it has its challenges. My pain has lessened to a mild discomfort, but sleeping through the night is difficult, and my nipples are uncomfortably hypersensitive. Overall, the medical care was solid, though the recovery process itself is demanding. It’s a serious undertaking.

Despite the discomfort, the clinic, the staff, and my surgeon were all fantastic and provided great care
Monsplaty, Tummy Tuck and 360 Liposuction. My biggest concern going into this was what the recovery would actually feel like. It's not easy. The most challenging part has definitely been the constant tight feeling, which is something to be prepared for. My surgeon used a combination of liposuction and excision. Right now there is still some swelling, so it’s too early to know how my clothes will fit differently in the end. Despite the discomfort, the clinic, the staff, and my surgeon were all fantastic and provided great care. It was a professional and supportive environment, and I'm glad I made the choice to go there.
Very clean, very inviting. After care was good too. Everything was quick and easy. Communication via whatsapp made things easier as well. I travelled solo and the staff helped that little extra.
After surgery garments are not forgiving for us longer torso people. They were a bit short which added a lil discomfort when it rolled at the back. Other than that everything was really good.

Even at just 15 days post-op, the initial aspect is already better than expected
Seeing the surgical site for the first time was the moment everything finally felt real. Even at just 15 days post-op, the initial aspect is already better than expected. We used the penile inversion technique, and while the results look promising, the recovery requires a lot of patience and steady commitment to the healing process. My biggest challenge at this stage is definitely the physical discomfort of being seated for a long time. It is a process. The clinic staff has been very attentive during my stay, and I am expecting to have the catheter removed very soon. To anyone else preparing for this surgery, it’s not easy but it is a good experience overall.

The staff deserves a special mention for being so supportive
One of my biggest worries was the potential for hidden costs, but I was relieved to find there were no additional expenses on top of what the clinic quoted. The staff deserves a special mention for being so supportive. They've stayed in touch and have been very easy to reach, which is reassuring during recovery from my traditional liposuction on two areas. What stood out about my surgeon was how carefully he marked the areas before we went into the operating room. My recovery is going about as expected so far. The whole process was handled professionally.

Just trust them
What really stood out was sitting with my doctor before the procedure to draw the beard shape together. That personal approach made a huge difference. Honestly, so far I'm feeling better than expected. The procedure was done using the FUE technique. The clinic’s support afterward has been great; they provided a clear aftercare guide and have stayed in touch with me. It was also a relief that there were no additional expenses on top of what I had paid. My advice for a future patient? Just trust them. They know what they are doing!
Excellent staff. Really took care of me. Wjile the full effects of my procedure will take several months to show. I'm very pleased so far of the outcome. They are very accommodating and generous with their time
Some language issues but some of the staff speak English well enough that it really isn't a problem

What truly stood out was my surgeon, who was honest about realistic results from the start and personally handled both the consultation and the surgery
I was thinking that going into a revision was getting unrealistic promises. What truly stood out was my surgeon, who was honest about realistic results from the start and personally handled both the consultation and the surgery. It gave me confidence. My alarplasty was done to correct an asymmetric nose, and while I'm still in the early stages of healing, it’s really too early to tell what the final outcome will be. The staff were supportive, providing a clear aftercare guide for my recovery at home. I also appreciated that there were no additional expenses on top of what I had already paid the clinic.

the care provided by the surgeon and the staff was impeccable
My one-off operation went very well and the care provided by the surgeon and the staff was impeccable, apart from a few minor language issues. However, you should be prepared for a few additional costs that were not included in the original price: we had to pay for the transfers between the hotel and the clinic ourselves, and the wound care supplies were insufficient, which amounted to a mid-double-digit sum in total. My most important tip for future patients would be to make absolutely sure you clarify any dietary requirements (vegetarian/halal/...) with the clinic before you arrive.
The coordination team is very dedicated and always available. The staff are consistently very friendly and go out of their way to help. A very comprehensive package with extensive, thorough preliminary examinations and no hidden costs. A superbly equipped single room, including a sofa bed for an accompanying person.
Contrary to what was advertised, there was no interpreter. The nursing staff, in particular, did not always have a good enough command of English to explain everything clearly and in detail. The consultation with the surgeon was less detailed than expected. It wasn’t always entirely clear which services were included in the package and which weren’t (particularly transfers) – but there were no major hidden costs. Hospital food/light meals after operations are always a challenge, and perhaps even more so in a different cultural context – I wasn’t asked about any specific dietary preferences, so anyone who absolutely needs vegetarian, vegan, kosher or halal food should definitely clarify this in advance; in my opinion, the hospital bed was very hard, which is significantly more uncomfortable when you can’t move around much

I'm confident in my choice and would recommend this clinic
My biggest worry was how the results would actually look and feel afterward. Now that I'm in the early stages of recovery from the fat transfer graft, I can say the outcome is positive. The girth is already noticeably thicker. Everything is still slightly numb, as expected, but the visual change is definitely there. The surgeon and the entire staff were professional and clear with all information, which helped manage my concerns from the beginning. It's a relief. Based on the care I received and the initial results, I'm confident in my choice and would recommend this clinic.

The most reassuring part of the whole process was sitting with the surgeon before we started
The most reassuring part of the whole process was sitting with the surgeon before we started. He took the time to draw the hairline with me and clearly explained the entire FUE extraction and implantation process, which helped manage my expectations for the 2,000-3,000 graft procedure. Now in the early stages of healing, I'm feeling about as expected. The clinic has stayed in touch, which is good. Overall, it was a solid experience with the surgeon and staff, and I appreciated that there were no additional expenses on top of what I was quoted.

The entire staff and my surgeon were great and supportive through it all
My biggest fear was the recovery, and it’s certainly a process that requires patience. The entire staff and my surgeon were great and supportive through it all. Right now, my chin is still very swollen, so I can't properly see the projection from the large, solid silicone implant yet. The numbness has been the hardest part. My lower lip feels slightly numb, which has made eating the biggest challenge so far. It’s a strange sensation. Despite the temporary side effects of healing, the care I received was solid and I would recommend this clinic.
Really loved the stuff they were very cute and helpful

My breathing is now even better than before
My biggest concern was that the result might look unnatural or that my breathing might be affected. Neither of these things happened. In fact, my breathing is now even better than before. During the open rhinoplasty, a small bump was removed and the bridge of my nose is now, even so soon after the procedure, already straighter, just as I wanted. In addition, the tip of my nose already looks much more defined. The staff and the surgeon were consistently supportive and answered all my questions patiently, which gave me a great deal of reassurance. I felt I was in good hands.
Very simple and straightforward

FAQ about Breast Capsulectomy in Thailand

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

Will my implants and capsules be sent for pathology testing after a breast capsulectomy in Thailand?

Surgeons in Thailand typically send breast capsules and fluid for pathology testing during a capsulectomy. This standard procedure screens for BIA-ALCL lymphoma and chronic infection. Clinics such as Yanhee International Hospital or Bangpakok 9 International Hospital follow international safety protocols for patient health.

  • Pathology screening: Tests check for inflammation, malignancy, and specific markers like CD30.
  • Specimen handling: Surgeons send entire capsules or tissue samples to specialised hospital labs.
  • Fluid analysis: Any periprosthetic fluid over 50cc undergoes cytology to rule out cancer.
  • JCI standards: Accredited Bangkok hospitals follow rigorous surgical guidelines for tissue disposal and testing.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Basic testing is standard, but pathology fees are often separate from the surgical quote. At clinics like ID Clinic Bangkok, which treats 4,000+ patients annually, confirm the price covers laboratory fees. These are typically A$4,400 to A$8,300 but may be billed per specimen.

Patient Consensus: Patients travelling to Thailand for revision surgery found that surgeons often recommend en-bloc removal. They felt reassured that hospital pathologists thoroughly examined all tissue before they returned home.

What is En Bloc removal for breast capsulectomy and is it available in Thailand?

En bloc removal is a specialised breast surgery. The implant and surrounding scar tissue capsule are removed as one intact unit. This procedure is available in Thailand through JCI-accredited hospitals. Expert plastic surgeons use this method for breast implant illness or ruptures.

  • Specialised technique: Surgeons remove the implant and capsule together without breaking the tissue seal.
  • Preventative benefit: This method prevents leaking silicone or diseased tissue from contacting internal body structures.
  • Clinical availability: Bangkok clinics like ID Clinic Bangkok and Yanhee International Hospital offer this surgery.
  • Qualified specialists: Surgeons like Dr Phatcharasak Kraisornphongsakul have performed 20,000+ procedures in accredited facilities.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Patients often request en bloc removal. However, Bookimed data shows it is only possible if the capsule is thick enough. Thai surgeons may switch to a total capsulectomy during surgery if the capsule is too thin. This change happens to protect patient safety.

Patient Consensus: Patients travelling to Thailand recommend getting a written agreement. This should state if the surgeon will perform a total capsulectomy if en bloc removal is impossible.

What is the difference between total and partial breast capsulectomy procedures in Thailand?

Total capsulectomy removes the entire fibrous scar tissue capsule around a breast implant. Partial capsulectomy removes only specific sections. This is often done to reduce surgical risk or sample local tissue. Bangkok surgeons perform both techniques within JCI-accredited facilities to address capsular contracture or aesthetic revisions.

  • Total removal: Surgeons remove all surrounding scar tissue so no foreign material remains.
  • Partial removal: Doctors leave some capsule tissue if it adheres too closely to ribs.
  • Clinical purpose: Total removal treats severe contracture. Partial approaches manage localised thickening or biopsy.
  • Procedure cost: Capsulectomy typically costs from $3,200 to $6,000 in Thailand clinics.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Bangkok specialists like Dr Phatcharasak Kraisornphongsakul at ID Clinic have performed 20,000+ procedures. This highlights a significant experience gap. While Australian averages reach $10,000, Thai packages often save patients 54%. Many patients choose total removal to avoid future revisions, even for simple implant replacement.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Thailand describe total capsulectomy as a full clean-out. Others recommend confirming if pathology testing for the removed capsule is in the initial quote.

What is involved in a breast capsulectomy procedure performed in Thailand?

Breast capsulectomy in Thailand involves surgically removing scar tissue around an implant. Surgeons perform this to treat capsular contracture or rupture. Specialists perform total or en bloc removals under general anaesthesia. Facilities like Yanhee International Hospital or Bangpakok 9 International Hospital often hold JCI accreditation.

  • Technique variety: Surgeons offer total or en bloc removal to clear all scar tissue.
  • Surgical access: Doctors typically use existing inframammary fold scars to reach the implant.
  • Clinical stay: Patients usually spend 1–2 nights in hospital for observation and pain management.
  • Drain management: Most cases require surgical drains for 24–48 hours to prevent fluid buildup.
  • Post-op timeline: Staying in Thailand for 10–14 days allows for drain removal and checks.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Thai surgical protocols often prioritise en bloc removal for patients with implant leaks. Specialists like Dr Worapon Ratanalert at Yanhee have specific training in breast anatomy. This specialised focus helps explain why major Bangkok clinics report success rates of 95% or higher.

Patient Consensus: Removal is more involved than a simple implant swap. Patients in Thailand highlight the need for compression garments. They also advise booking a 2-week stay to handle drain removal comfortably.

What is the expected recovery timeline following a breast capsulectomy in Thailand?

Recovery following a breast capsulectomy in Thailand typically involves an overnight hospital stay and 9 days in-country. While light desk work resumes within 5 days, full physical recovery usually takes 3 to 6 months. Most patients return to Australia once stitches are removed on day 7.

  • Hospital stay: International patients stay 1 night for monitoring after general anaesthesia.
  • Initial rest: Plan 5 days of absolute rest in Bangkok before starting light activity.
  • Stitch removal: Surgeons typically remove non-dissolvable sutures 7 days after the procedure.
  • Physical limits: Avoid lifting arms above head or heavy items for 4 weeks.
  • Support garment: A medical compression bra must be worn constantly for 6 weeks.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Thailand’s high-volume centres like Yanhee International Hospital or ID Clinic Bangkok often use specialists with 20,000+ procedures. This experience is vital for capsulectomies. Cases involving calcification or total en bloc removal typically require longer stays for drain management.

Patient Consensus: Expect significant chest tightness and pressure during the first week in Thailand. Patients recommend arranging assistance for luggage and dressing as arm movement is very limited initially.

Why would an Australian patient choose Thailand for breast capsulectomy surgery?

Australian patients choose Thailand for breast capsulectomy to access specialist surgeons and JCI-accredited facilities. They can save up to 54% compared to local costs. The country offers experienced plastic surgeons and care packages in medical hubs like Bangkok.

  • Cost efficiency: Procedures range from $3,200 to $6,000. This is significantly below the $10,000 Australian average.
  • Accredited facilities: Hospitals like Bangpakok 9 International Hospital maintain JCI accreditation for international safety standards.
  • Surgeon expertise: Specialists like Dr Phatcharasak Kraisornphongsakul at ID Clinic Bangkok have performed 20,000+ procedures.
  • English-speaking support: Many clinics, such as Yanhee International Hospital, provide English-speaking staff and support services.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Many clinics offer capsulectomy, but the most experienced surgeons often have international backgrounds. For instance, Dr Pramote Manurangsee at Yanhee International Hospital trained in the USA and Switzerland. Surgeons with this global exposure are familiar with implant brands and protocols used in Australia.

Patient Consensus: Patients find that Thai clinics provide detailed surgical plans and recovery timelines. These plans make travel logistics manageable. They also highlight the ease of getting English medical reports for their Australian GPs.
