I wholeheartedly recommend them—and the hospital—without hesitation
I can’t thank Professor Sezer Sağlam and our guide Aliçer enough for the incredible care they showed during our visit to Florence Nightingale Hospital. I was very worried about the trip and my mum’s consultation, especially after a previous bad experience at another hospital where we were constantly pushed to upsell unnecessary scans. At Florence Nightingale, there was none of that—everything was professional, honest, and focused on what my mum actually needed. Their kindness, attentiveness, and guidance turned a stressful experience into one where we truly felt cared for. I wholeheartedly recommend them—and the hospital—without hesitation.

The hospital has no good travel connections About 3 times we have been struggling to get a taxi for me and my mother after 6 pm, my mother is 80 years old and she had waited for 2 hours to get a taxi, I spoke with the international office without any help Some areas in the hospital does not have AC They don’t have a real sense of Multidisciplinary meeting My understanding of MDM is that the consultants meet together Take the decision and and pass it to the patient by one of them rather than the patient moves from one consultant to another Without clear outcome

This allows specialists to cross-reference rare sarcoma cases with leading American protocols. Patients benefit from international-standard histopathology reviews without US costs or long waiting periods.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Turkey value thorough histopathology second opinions. They note that specialists like Prof Sezer Saglam provide honest, professional guidance. People suggest confirming multidisciplinary team meetings and checking for molecular tumour testing before travelling.

What are the common treatment options for soft tissue sarcoma in Turkey?

Common treatments for soft tissue sarcoma in Turkey include wide local excision, radiation therapy, and systemic medical oncology. Leading JCI-accredited centres in Istanbul use multidisciplinary tumour boards. Surgeons and oncologists coordinate complex procedures like limb-salvage surgery and prosthetic reconstructions.

  • Surgical resection: Surgeons perform wide local excision or bone resection with implant replacement.
  • Radiation therapy: Centres use methods like MR Linac and image-guided radiotherapy (IGRT).
  • Medical oncology: Specialists provide chemotherapy, targeted molecular therapies, and cancer immunotherapy.
  • Diagnostics: Clinics use digital PET/CT and histopathology revision to confirm sarcoma subtypes.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Turkish oncology centres show a high concentration of US-trained specialists. Professor Onder Ofluoglu and Professor Necdet Uskent completed fellowships at major American institutions. This training means clinics follow international protocols for complex bone and soft tissue reconstructions. These protocols align with Australian medical standards.

Patient Consensus: Patients value the professional and honest environment at major Istanbul hospitals. Dedicated English-speaking translators often coordinate this care. They appreciate the clean facilities and kind staff. However, some note it is important to confirm logistics like taxi connections in advance.
