The doctor has caused trust
In order Bookimed was advised by a friend when she was diagnosed and the question arose of confirming it and obtaining a treatment protocol. Unfortunately, due to the nature of the diagnosis, Ukraine could not be considered. In general, everything seems confusing when far from medicine and you do not understand how further. 1. At night, Bookimed wrote - in the morning they called, identified the coordinator Daria (medical unit), they received copies of the test results, consulted and suggested further actions: clinics, expenses, etc. I chose Anadolu (Turkey), although Turkey was not considered Turkey at first , but having studied the info on the Internet and the reviews made a decision. 2. Logistics (flight, transfer, resettlement, etc.) organized by Barbara. Tickets, reservations, and so on — we didn’t do at all.) Now I wondered if there were any rust or comments — but no, everything was clear, correct, prompt responses, constant communication and full support. That's really all at a decent level. 3. By hotels: it was possible to choose on the territory of Anadolu or nearby (there was a list of hotels that provide transfer to the clinic) I decided that it would be boring on the territory of Anadolu, some patients and chose Elite hotel darica, in the hope that in addition to the clinic I would not have to be in the room. Hotel standards, but in early December, the kitchen is empty and very sad. But the room is spacious, modern - ok, were not hungry, although probably for all my trips and hotels - it was the most meager breakfast and dinner. But in the room kettle, which was very useful to us. Friendly staff 4. In the Medical Center Anadolu accompanied Suleiman. In general, at all stages - accompanying higher praise. They know their business: correct, unobtrusive, but leading and most importantly constructive. 5. The clinic itself: a large, bright, modern, functional, no frills, but it became very sad that there is simply nothing like this in Ukraine. Reception in the queue, waiting for reception for a couple of hours, but the chairs are incredibly comfortable, you can be in the Cafe (there are also sofas, there are different snacks) - they will call. There is a dining room, but there is a clear time for breakfast, lunch and dinner. In short, there are no comments when they immediately warn you that you need to wait and the waiting conditions are comfortable. 6. Reception at prof. Zafera Gulbash: there is nothing special to write, most of the techniques of normal clinics, the behavior of doctors is professional, the examination, the study of test results, the questions and the definition of further actions, the tests are done quickly, all electronically immediately on the monitor for the doctor. The doctor has caused trust. 7. It should be noted that we are at the very beginning: reviewing the diagnosis. Conclusion: everything and support from Bookimed and being in Anadolu was comfortable in all respects. We move on. I definitely recommend

"I liked the service very much, a completely different level compared to medicine in Ukraine
I liked the service very much, a completely different level compared to medicine in Ukraine. The professor immediately called for trust, transfer, settlement, everything was very clear and fast. The only thing was a hitch immediately upon arrival, the attendant was not immediately found, but they turned to the airport staff and they were happy to help to contact. He was at the airport, just a little apart. The rest of the stay was very comfortable and did not require anything from our side. Everyone was accompanied by companions, translators and medical staff.

Expert Overview about Leukemia Treatment in Turkey

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

What types of leukaemia treatment are available for international patients in Turkey?

Leukaemia patients in Turkey access intensive care including chemotherapy, bone marrow transplants, and CAR T-cell therapy. JCI-accredited centres in Istanbul and Ankara provide multidisciplinary protocols. Leading specialists offer diagnostics like flow cytometry and MRD monitoring. Most clinics include VIP transfers and interpreters for Australian patients.

  • Bone marrow transplant: Centres like Anadolu perform 3,000+ autologous and allogeneic transplants.
  • CAR T-cell therapy: Available at Medical Park for approximately A$414,000 including 28-day hospitalisation.
  • Targeted therapy: Specialists use precise drugs to attack markers in chronic leukaemia cases.
  • Premium diagnostics: Packages around A$5,000 cover PET/CT, biopsy, and blood markers at Hermes Clinics.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Turkey's leading haematologists often hold dual international credentials. Professor Zafer Gulbas and Professor Ceyhun Bozkurt trained at institutions like MD Anderson and Dana-Farber. This link to international oncology standards means patients receive the same protocols used in global hospitals at lower prices.

Patient Consensus: Patients highlight the comfort of modern facilities and the helpfulness of personal coordinators during long stays. Many note the high level of professionalism from doctors like Professor Zafer Gulbas in Istanbul.

Are private hospitals in Turkey reliable for treating complex conditions like leukaemia?

Private Turkish hospitals are highly reliable for complex leukaemia care. Leading centres such as Anadolu Medical Center and Memorial Şişli Hospital hold Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation. They offer therapies like CAR T-cell therapy and bone marrow transplants. Success rates reach 90% and higher.

  • Specialist expertise: Dr Zafer Gulbas has performed over 1,500 bone marrow transplants in Istanbul.
  • Clinical affiliations: Anadolu Medical Center is an official partner of Johns Hopkins Medicine International.
  • Technology: Hospitals use digital PET/CT and MR Linac for precise diagnosis and monitoring.
  • Patient volume: Major institutions like Medipol Mega serve up to 1,000,000 patients annually.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Turkish haematology-oncology stands out because top professors often train at elite global institutions. These include MD Anderson or Fred Hutchinson. This creates an environment where Australian patients receive the same treatment protocols used in the USA or UK. For instance, packages at Medical Park Bahcelievler include multidisciplinary boards. These boards include cardiologists and radiologists to manage CAR T-cell therapy safely.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Turkey describe the care as a high level of service. They note that professors quickly inspire trust through professional behaviour and clear test results. Many note the support from on-site translators and companions. These staff handle everything from airport transfers to clinic navigation.

What is the typical duration for leukaemia treatment protocols in Turkey?

Leukaemia treatment protocols in Turkey typically require 2 to 3 years for complete cycles. Intensive induction phases last 2 to 6 weeks. Following this, consolidation therapy takes 3 to 6 months. Long-term maintenance therapy continues for several years to help maintain remission in acute cases.

  • Induction phase: Intensive inpatient chemotherapy takes 2 to 6 weeks to achieve remission.
  • Consolidation phase: Specialists administer further treatment over 3 to 6 months to clear remaining cells.
  • CAR T-cell therapy: Specialised protocols at centres like Istanbul Florence Nightingale Hospital include 28-day inpatient stays.
  • Transplant monitoring: Bone marrow transplant recipients usually require 4 to 6 weeks of hospitalisation.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Turkish haematology packages often include 28-day hospital stays as standard for intensive therapies like CAR T-cell. This is nearly double the typical surgical stay. Hospitals like Medical Park Bahcelievler Hospital list Australia as a served region. This means staff understand Medicare-related follow-up needs.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Turkey highlight the importance of clear phase-by-step timelines. They value having dedicated translators like Suleiman at Anadolu Medical Center to help with complex daily medical updates.

Will there be language barriers for Australians receiving leukaemia treatment in Turkey?

Australians face minimal language barriers in Turkey. Major leukaemia centres provide dedicated English-speaking coordinators and medical interpreters. Leading hospitals, including Anadolu Medical Center and Hisar Hospital Intercontinental, maintain Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation. Specialists like Dr Zafer Gulbas often hold international credentials from institutions like MD Anderson.

  • Personal coordinators: Clinics provide staff to manage logistics, bookings and basic medical consultations in English.
  • Expert specialists: Many oncohaematologists trained in English-speaking countries like the USA, UK or Canada.
  • Language support: Centres like Anadolu Medical Center include interpreters to assist during doctor appointments.
  • Written records: Patients receive diagnostic reports and treatment plans in English for Australian GP follow-up.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Most coordinators speak English. Still, patients should choose university-affiliated clinics like Medipol Mega or Anadolu. These institutions have higher English proficiency among medical staff. For example, Dr Rafet Eren and Prof Dr Yesim Yildirim are fluent English speakers. This allows direct communication during complex CAR T-cell therapy or transplant discussions.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Turkey describe the support as high-level. They note that interpreters and companions accompany them at every stage. They appreciate that everything is organised for their comfort. This includes airport transfers and specialist consultations.

Why do international patients choose Turkey for leukaemia treatment?

International patients choose Turkey for leukaemia treatment due to JCI-accredited facilities and specialised bone marrow units. Many centres now offer therapies like CAR T-cell therapy. Leading clinics like Anadolu Medical Center partner with Johns Hopkins Medicine International for multidisciplinary care. Highly trained specialists often offer immediate start dates without waiting lists.

  • Specialist expertise: Prof. Dr Zafer Gulbas and Prof. Dr Osman Ilhan founded major national transplant centres.
  • Technology: Clinics use CyberKnife, Gamma Knife, and sophisticated flow cytometry for precise leukaemia staging.
  • Accredited facilities: Istanbul Florence Nightingale Hospital holds JCI accreditation and specialised green building certifications.
  • Paediatric care: Experts like Prof. Dr Ceyhun Bozkurt hold SIOP and EBMT certifications for childhood leukaemia.
  • Comprehensive packages: Packages often include 28-day hospital stays, nursing care, and VIP airport transfers.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Turkish haematology-oncology centres are uniquely structured for long-term intensity. Packages at Medical Park Bahcelievler Hospital include 28 nights of hospitalisation. This provides medical supervision throughout the critical initial recovery phase. Australian patients benefit from this, as standard international packages elsewhere often shift patients to hotels sooner.

Patient Consensus: Patients note Turkey offers much faster access to specialists than public health systems at home. They appreciate the coordinated logistics, including airport transfers and comfortable waiting areas. These features make the intensive diagnostic process feel easier.
