What would I say to a friend who’s hesitating? Just go for it
What would I say to a friend who’s hesitating? Just go for it. My biggest fear was not understanding the treatment plan or feeling rushed, but that wasn’t the case at all. The dentist was very patient and took the time to explain each step to me in detail. It was reassuring. The overall organisation ran smoothly and the whole clinic team were professional and happy to answer my questions. Coordination via Bookimed simplified the whole process, which helped reduce the stress of having a medical appointment abroad. I left with clear information and a good overall impression.

I would like to thank BIDC and also Bookimed for their professionalism
Hello everyone, like many other people before an operation, I wasn't feeling very well. The staff at the clinic immediately reassured and accompanied me. Believe me or not, I didn't feel a thing. The dental surgeon fitted the 2 implants in 40 minutes, and I had no infections whatsoever. My Bookimed advisor (Péguy) was with me from the start and is still with me today. I would like to thank BIDC and also Bookimed for their professionalism. Sylvain B.

The wisdom teeth extraction was done so fast with utmost care
It is a clean hospital and the wisdom teeth extraction was done so fast with utmost care. The dentist and dental personnel can speak fluent English which is important for most people like I. For wisdom teeth extraction the cost was 20000 baht for 4 teeth( including medication and nurse charge), but it all depends if the teeth has impacted. I would highly recommend the clinic.

Our Veneers Techniques: What Suits You Best?

When considering Veneers, it’s important to understand the different techniques and which is best suited for you. Here’s a concise comparison of popular options:

Porcelain Veneer

A thin layer of porcelain is applied to the surface of teeth to improve appearance and function.

Pros: Durable, lasting 10-15 years with proper care. Resistant to stains, unlike composite veneers which discolor over time.
Cons: Requires more enamel removal compared to lumineers. Higher cost than composite options.
Effectiveness: 95% success rate in improving dental aesthetics.
Duration: 1-2 hours
Recovery: Not needed
Best for: Correcting discoloration, chips, and gaps in 1-2 teeth.
Prices: Cost of Porcelain Veneer in Thailand from AUD $649

Composite Veneer

Composite Veneer involves applying a tooth-colored resin to improve the appearance of teeth.

Pros: Quick application. Requires less enamel removal than porcelain veneers. Reversible and easily repairable. Offers immediate results in a single visit.
Cons: Less durable than zirconia veneers, lasting 5-7 years. Prone to staining compared to porcelain veneers.
Effectiveness: Successfully enhances the appearance of chipped, discolored, or misshapen teeth.
Duration: 1-2 hours
Recovery: Not needed
Best for: Small chips, minor discoloration, and slight misalignment. Suitable for those seeking quick cosmetic improvements.
Prices: Cost of Composite Veneer in Thailand from AUD $130

Emax Veneers

These are thin layers of lithium disilicate ceramic bonded to teeth for a natural, attractive smile.

Pros: Emax veneers offer high durability and a natural look. They are 3 times stronger than composite veneers and provide excellent translucency for a realistic appearance.
Cons: More tooth structure may be removed compared to lumineers. They require a longer preparation time than composite veneers.
Effectiveness: Success rate is 95% over 10 years.
Duration: 2-3 hours
Recovery: Not needed
Best for: Discolored teeth, chipped or broken teeth, minor misalignments, and gaps.
Prices: Cost of Emax veneers in Thailand from AUD $518

Lumineer

Thin dental shells designed for cosmetic dentistry, enhancing the appearance of teeth with minimal preparation.

Pros: No tooth shaving needed. Suitable for sensitive teeth. Thin design, only about 0.2mm thick, preserves natural tooth structure.
Cons: Less durable than Emax veneers. Not ideal for severe discoloration or significant misalignment issues.
Effectiveness: Durability of up to 10 years.
Duration: 1-2 hours
Recovery: Not needed
Best for: Minor chips, slight discoloration, 1-2 teeth alignment issues.
Prices: Cost of Lumineer in Thailand from AUD $864

Zirconia Veneers

These are strong, durable dental shells used to enhance the appearance of teeth.

Pros: High strength and durability, resisting chipping better than composite veneers. Withstands up to 900 MPa of force, making them ideal for patients with bruxism.
Cons: Less translucent compared to porcelain veneers, which can impact the natural look. Requires more tooth reduction than lumineers.
Effectiveness: Success rate of 91% over 10 years.
Duration: 1-2 hours
Recovery: Not needed
Best for: Patients with heavily discolored teeth or those needing robust restoration. Suitable for individuals with high bite pressure.
Prices: Cost of Zirconia veneers in Thailand from AUD $1,153

FAQ about Veneers in Thailand

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

What are the main risks associated with getting dental veneers in Thailand?

The primary risks include aggressive enamel removal and poor material quality at budget clinics. Compressed timelines can also rush laboratory fabrication. Patients may face limited legal recourse and difficulty getting follow-up care or bite adjustments in Australia.

  • Enamel over-preparation: Excessive shaving causes permanent tooth sensitivity and may lead to needing dental crowns.
  • Material quality: Budget centres might use non-branded resins instead of Ivoclar Vivadent or Straumann® ceramics.
  • Rushed fabrication: Tight holiday schedules often lead to poorly fitted veneers and uneven bites.
  • Aftercare access: Australian dentists often hesitate to adjust or repair overseas cosmetic dental work.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Clinics with in-house labs, such as Bangkok International Dental Center or Hachi Dental Clinic, reduce fit-related risks. These facilities use digital smile design and intraoral scanners for precision. Choosing a clinic that manufactures veneers on-site often prevents errors seen when veneers are sent to external labs.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Thailand appreciate the speed of treatment. They suggest requesting a mock-up and shade photos before final bonding. It is helpful to document exact material brands to assist with any future repairs in Australia.

How can I ensure the safety and quality of a dental clinic in Thailand for veneers?

Verify a clinic’s quality by checking for JCI or ISO 9001 certifications. You should also select a specialist prosthodontist. High-standard facilities in Thailand use digital workflows like intraoral scanning and on-site labs. These tools provide a precise veneer fit and long-term bonding success.

  • International accreditation: Look for JCI-accredited facilities such as Bangkok International Dental Center (BIDC).
  • Specialist credentials: Choose a prosthodontist like Dr Tarin Piangsuk at Chiangmai International Dental Clinic.
  • Digital technology: Top clinics use 3D intraoral scanners and CAD/CAM labs for precise fitting.
  • Material transparency: Confirm the use of premium brands like Ivoclar Vivadent E.max or Lumineers.
  • Treatment timeline: Allow 7–10 days in Thailand for preparation, fabrication, and bite adjustments.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Many clinics offer veneers. However, Bookimed data shows that centres with in-house labs provide superior shade matching. Hachi Dental Clinic is one such example. Dr Pongkarn Kanjanawattana’s facility allows for immediate adjustments to porcelain before final cementation. This reduces the risk of dissatisfaction.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Thailand appreciate efficient digital workflows. They also value professional staff who explain every step clearly. Confirming the dentist’s portfolio and material brands upfront helps provide a smooth experience and high-quality results.

Does getting porcelain veneers in Thailand cause permanent damage to natural teeth?

Getting porcelain veneers in Thailand does not cause permanent damage if performed by a qualified prosthodontist. Standard veneers require removing roughly 0.5mm of enamel. This makes the process irreversible. Leading Bangkok clinics, such as Yanhee International Hospital and Bangkok International Dental Center, maintain JCI accreditation for safe clinical protocols.

  • Enamel removal: Standard porcelain veneers require permanent shaving of 0.5mm of natural tooth enamel.
  • Specialist expertise: Prosthodontists like Dr Tarin Piangsuk at CIDC hold American Board of Prosthodontics certification.
  • Minimal prep: Lumineers and ultra-thin options allow for smile enhancement with little to no drilling.
  • Digital planning: Digital Smile Design (DSD) technology provides precise fitting to prevent bacteria-trapping ledges.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Thailand’s high-volume dental centres often feature in-house labs. This reduces the risk of structural failure. Dr Pongkarn Kanjanawattana at Hachi Dental Clinic uses an in-house digital veneer lab for perfect bonding and occlusion. This service is typically unavailable in smaller, cheaper clinics.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Thailand appreciate the thorough explanations and speed of treatment. They recommend asking for conservative preparation to preserve natural tooth structure. They also note that veneers require a long-term commitment to future replacements.

Are the dental materials used for veneers in Thailand of a high standard?

Dental materials for veneers in Thailand meet high international standards at accredited clinics. Leading facilities use global brands like IPS e.max, Zirconia, and Straumann. These materials match those used in Australian surgeries for durability and natural aesthetics.

  • Premium brands: Clinics use Ivoclar Vivadent lithium disilicate (IPS e.max) for strength and translucency.
  • Digital precision: Centres use CAD/CAM technology and 3D intraoral scanners for precise veneer fitting.
  • Certified facilities: Major providers hold JCI accreditation and ISO 9001 certifications for safety.
  • Expert specialist: Dr Somkiat Aimplee at BIDC is certified by the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Lab quality is the most overlooked factor in veneer longevity. Leading Bangkok centres, such as Bangkok International Dental Center (BIDC) and Hachi Dental, operate in-house digital labs. This allows prosthodontists to oversee fabrication directly for precise bonding and perfect shade matching.

Patient Consensus: Patients are often impressed by how quickly clinics produce custom veneers. They value receiving detailed explanations about material brands and find the staff professional, friendly, and attentive.

How long will porcelain or composite veneers from a Thai clinic last?

Porcelain veneers from a Thai clinic generally last 10 to 15 years. Composite options typically last 4 to 7 years. Longevity depends on material quality, such as E-max or zirconia. It also relies on the precision of the bonding technique performed by Thai specialists.

  • Porcelain durability: Premium materials like IPS e.max or zirconia resist staining and maintain shine.
  • Composite lifespan: Resin is porous and prone to chipping. It requires replacement every 4–7 years.
  • Precision bonding: Skilled dentists at Bangkok International Dental Center use digital smile design for accuracy.
  • Aftercare impact: Custom night guards and avoiding hard foods extend the life of dental shells.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Thai clinics like Hachi Dental Clinic increasingly use in-house labs for a precise fit. This removes the risk of moisture leakage common in rushed holiday timelines. Choosing a doctor with a Master of Science in Prosthodontics helps prevent cracks by aligning your bite.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Thailand appreciate the rapid turnaround and clear explanations from specialists. Most find porcelain a reliable long-term investment. Many recommend confirming lab brands and material types before starting treatment.

How much time must I allocate for a veneer procedure in Thailand?

Plan for 7 to 10 days in Thailand for standard porcelain veneers. Composite options at About Tooth Dental Clinic offer same-day results. However, lab-made porcelain shells require 2 to 3 visits for custom fabrication and fitting.

  • Composite veneers: Completed in 1 day as the dentist sculpts the resin directly.
  • Standard porcelain: Requires 7 to 10 days for lab manufacturing and several appointments.
  • Digital labs: Clinics like Bangkok International Dental Center use in-house labs to save time.
  • Full makeovers: Allocate 12 to 14 days if treating 16 to 20 teeth together.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Clinics with in-house labs, such as Hachi Dental Clinic & Digital Veneer Lab, reduce turnaround times. These facilities use 3D intraoral scanners and digital workflows. This removes the 5-day wait typical of external laboratories. Australians can often finish a full smile transformation within a single week.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Thailand appreciate the efficient staff and the coordination between consultations and lab work. Most recommend adding extra days for final bite adjustments and shade checks. This helps make the results feel natural before flying home.

What are the most reputable locations for dental tourism in Thailand?

Bangkok and Chiang Mai are the primary hubs for dental work in Thailand. Bangkok offers the most JCI-accredited facilities and multi-specialty hospitals. Chiang Mai provides internationally recognised care in a relaxed environment, often through branches of established Bangkok dental groups.

  • Bangkok hub: Home to JCI-accredited centres like Bangkok International Dental Center and Yanhee International Hospital.
  • Chiang Mai care: Featured specialists at Chiangmai International Dental Clinic (CIDC) hold US board certifications.
  • In-house labs: Centres like Hachi Dental Clinic use CAD/CAM technology for precise, same-day veneers.
  • Specialist density: Bangkok clinics like SmileBox employ over 30 doctors, including UK and US-trained experts.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Bangkok is the leader for complex work, but patients often overlook Samut Prakan. Hachi Dental Clinic there operates its own digital veneer lab. This allows prosthodontists like Dr. Pongkarn Kanjanawattana to oversee the entire fabrication on-site. This setup typically results in better shade matching and fit compared to clinics using external labs.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Thailand appreciate the rapid turnaround for porcelain veneers and the detailed specialist explanations. They recommend allowing extra days for trial fittings to achieve a natural-looking smile.
