How Much Does Face Contouring Cost in Thailand in AUD?

Face contouring in Thailand typically costs from AUD $7,930 / ฿A269,605 to AUD $18,022 / ฿A612,739. Final prices depend on the surgical technique, such as deep plane or structural bone work, and the clinic category. Australians save approximately 50% compared to local private fees, where the average cost is AUD $25,807 / ฿A877,442. Most Thai packages for international patients include surgeon fees, anaesthesia, hospital stays, and essential pre-operative tests.

  • Deep plane facelift: Typically reflects a 20–30% premium due to complex muscle repositioning techniques.
  • Jawline and chin contouring: Structural bone modifications often require overnight hospital monitoring and specialised anaesthetic teams.
  • Non-surgical options: Treatments like HIFU or thread lifts offer lower entry costs for temporary results.
  • Combined procedures: Bundling multiple areas, such as jaw and chin, often reduces the total investment.
  • Clinic location: Major medical hubs like Bangkok and Phuket offer the widest range of pricing.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Choosing a multi-specialty facility provides a distinct safety advantage for complex structural surgery. Asia Cosmetic Hospital and Navamin9 Hospital ensure all operations occur under the direct supervision of cardiologists. Experienced surgeons like Dr. Panop Metinum, with 40+ years of experience, provide high-level expertise. This clinical depth often costs 15–20% more than boutique clinics but matches Australian private hospital safety standards.

My biggest surprise is the lack of results. Although I am only just beginning my recovery, my skin is already much looser than I expected after such a procedure. The hardest part so far has been the visibility of the bruises, which were very extensive. I have to admit: the staff were decent. However, communication with the surgeon was virtually non-existent, to the extent that I’m not even sure which technique was used. The clinic’s overall organisation was also poor. I would absolutely not recommend this clinic.

the surgeon is very skilled and his stitches are wonderful
The whole process from initial consult to surgery and follow up after care were good. I was very happy the care received from the admin staff and the surgical team. The nurses were so gentle. the surgeon is very skilled and his stitches are wonderful. I would be so happy to undergo further procedures at this clinic. The hotel was also great.
The outcome was great and my surgeries were separated into two - and the bleph was done under local for increased safety and to reduce time under general anesthetic - which is good.
Everything was good no negative feedback

I felt at ease because they showed they were professionals
The medical team was polite. I felt at ease because they showed they were professionals. I only wish there had been a Russian-speaking person, of course, so it would have been easier to communicate, but otherwise, everything was great!

FAQ about Face Contouring in Thailand

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

How do I ensure the surgeon is qualified for face contouring surgery in Thailand?

Ensuring a surgeon is qualified for face contouring in Thailand means checking their Diplomate Thai Board of Plastic Surgery certification and at least 15 years’ experience. Clinics like Asia Cosmetic Hospital hold International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS) membership and Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation, reflecting high safety standards.

  • Board certification: Confirm the surgeon holds the Diplomate Thai Board of Plastic Surgery.
  • Experience: Choose surgeons with 15+ years and continuous technique updates.
  • Hospital setting: Prefer accredited hospitals with emergency equipment, not teaching facilities.
  • Clinic credentials: Asia Cosmetic Hospital and Wansiri Hospital meet JCI and Royal College standards.
  • Consultations: Arrange multiple free consultations to compare surgical approaches and incision plans.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Clinics like Asia Cosmetic Hospital combine ISAPS membership with regional awards, showing strong reputations. Wansiri Hospital’s high success rate (99%) for facial surgeries and Royal College accreditation make it a reliable choice. Surgeons such as Dr Panop Metinum at Lelux have 40+ years’ experience, ensuring safe, natural results. Australian patients often prefer Bangkok clinics with English-speaking staff and telehealth follow-ups.

Patient Consensus: Patients value surgeons who provide clear, direct communication in English and give detailed incision plans. Many appreciate free consultations online or via LINE app before travel. Thailand’s accredited hospitals give confidence in safety and post-op care. Patients also note that checking certification specifically for the Thai Plastic Surgery Board prevents confusion.

What are the typical procedures included in face contouring surgery in Thailand?

Face contouring surgery in Thailand typically includes facial liposuction for the jawline and double chin, chin liposuction, and blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) to shape and soften facial features. Facelifts and neck lifts are added to tighten sagging skin, often in patients over 50.

  • Facial liposuction: targets jawline and double chin to define the face.
  • Chin liposuction: reduces bulk under the chin for a slimmer profile.
  • Blepharoplasty: upper and lower eyelid surgery for a balanced, youthful look.
  • Facelift and neck lift: lifts sagging skin, commonly bundled with contouring.
  • Fat transfer: used under eyes to smooth hollow areas alongside blepharoplasty.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Many clinics focus on soft tissue procedures like liposuction and lifts rather than bone reduction. As a result, Australian patients should check whether bone contouring is included. JCI-accredited hospitals such as Wansiri Hospital offer high safety standards, making them top choices. Combined contouring and facelift procedures generally require a 10–13 day hospital stay in Thailand, which suits extended recovery needs.

Patient Consensus: Patients find facial liposuction and eyelid surgery work well together for natural results. Visits often last around two weeks to rest properly after combined surgery. Australians appreciate JCI-accredited clinics for safety and clear surgeon expertise in face contouring.

Who is a suitable candidate for facial contouring surgery in Thailand?

Suitable candidates for facial contouring surgery in Thailand are healthy adults over 18 seeking balanced, refined facial shapes. They have realistic expectations, are non-smokers, and emotionally prepared. Clinics like Asia Cosmetic Hospital and experienced surgeons like Dr Panop Metinum provide natural results and patient safety.

  • Age and health: Adults 18+ in good physical health without serious conditions.
  • Desired changes: Address wide jaws, prominent cheekbones, or improve facial symmetry.
  • Surgeon credentials: Look for board-certified surgeons, e.g., ISAPS certification.
  • Consultation process: Expect 2–3 months of tailored video consultations before surgery.
  • Patient advice: Compare 3–4 clinics and check surgeons’ experience with ethnic facial features.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Asian clinics like Asia Cosmetic Hospital have ISAPS and JCI accreditation, reflecting high safety and quality. Surgeons such as Dr Panop Metinum have 40+ years’ experience and dual board certification. Australian patients benefit from protocols requiring multi-clinic consultation and direct surgeon bookings to avoid risks.

Patient Consensus: Australians found facial contouring in Thailand straightforward and well organised. Patients appreciated long consultations, seeing tailored plans before surgery, and strong surgeon communication. The focus on natural, subtle changes suits those wanting refined rather than dramatic results.

What important questions should I ask my surgeon before having face contouring surgery in Thailand?

Before face contouring surgery in Thailand, important questions cover surgeon credentials, procedure safety, expected results, and recovery logistics. Verify if the surgeon is board-certified, asks for genuine before-and-after photos, and clarifies anaesthesia type and post-op care, including follow-up while still in Thailand.

  • Surgeon credentials: Confirm board certification in plastic or reconstructive surgery.
  • Experience: Ask how often they perform face contouring and see authentic photos.
  • Anaesthesia details: Check what type is used and who administers it.
  • Recovery plan: Clarify length of stay, medication, swelling treatment, and follow-up visits.
  • Communication: Ensure English-speaking staff or reliable translators for clear contact.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Thailand’s top clinics like Asia Cosmetic Hospital and Wansiri Hospital have 0% post-operation complications and 99% success rates by providing clean theatres and skilled surgeons. Surgeons like Dr Panop Metinum, with 40+ years’ experience and dual board certifications, provide natural results and patient safety. Many clinics recommend 10–14 days in-country post-op stay, which helps Aussie patients avoid flight risks during recovery.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Thailand say surgeons carefully assess facial muscles and composition to predict outcomes. They appreciate clinics that explain anaesthesia costs clearly and handle post-op meds and compression garments smoothly. Many find the few weeks’ stay helps with proper healing and easier communication using apps like LINE.

Is it advisable for Australians to consult a local doctor before travelling to Thailand for face contouring surgery?

Australians should consult a local GP or specialist before travelling to Thailand for face contouring surgery. This pre-travel check helps assess health risks, confirm the need for surgery, and plan safe recovery with proper aftercare support.

  • Pre-surgery health checks: Essential for assessing risks like blood clots and wound-healing issues.
  • Procedure necessity: Australian specialists may suggest safer, non-surgical alternatives.
  • Insurance briefing: Most local policies exclude overseas complications; specialist advice helps coverage planning.
  • Aftercare planning: Local doctors provide follow-up support not always available abroad.
  • Recovery timing advice: Allow 10–14 days recovery post-surgery before long-haul flights.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Many Australians overlook the importance of a local pre-surgery check despite Thailand’s clinics like Asia Cosmetic Hospital, which holds Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation and ensures safety. Local doctors can help schedule surgery dates that reduce risks related to travelling soon after surgery.

Patient Consensus: Australians say seeing a GP first helped them spot hidden health issues and plan recovery better. They value local support for smooth healing after returning from Thailand’s face contouring clinics.
