How Much Does Breast Implant Removal Cost in Thailand in AUD?

Breast implant removal in Thailand typically costs from AUD $2,732 to AUD $4,313. The total price depends on the surgical complexity, the need for a capsulectomy, and whether a breast lift is performed simultaneously. In Australia, patients often pay around AUD $12,940, meaning travelling to Bangkok or Phuket can offer savings of approximately 73%. Standard Thai packages usually include the surgical fees, general anaesthetic, pre-operative testing, and a private hospital room.

  • Capsulectomy: typically adds 50–70% to the base cost to remove thickened scar tissue.
  • Removal with breast lift: often increases the total price by 60–80% for aesthetic reshaping.
  • Ruptured implant management: may add about ฿20,000 per side due to increased theatre time.
  • Clinic accreditation: international JCI-accredited facilities generally charge a 15–20% premium for audited safety standards.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Choosing JCI-accredited facilities provides high-level safety at competitive rates. Asia Cosmetic Hospital offers packages around A$2,900 that include VIP rooms and airport transfers. This price covers complex needs without the premium fees seen in Australian private hospitals. Experienced specialists like Dr Chokchai Amornsawadwattana, who trained at Royal Melbourne Hospital, provide familiar clinical standards for Australian patients.

Data verified by Bookimed as of July 2026, based on patient requests and official quotes from 149 clinics worldwide. Median costs are based on real invoices (2025–2026) and updated monthly. Actual prices may vary.

I am very happy with the care I received
The doctor is very experienced and his recommendations are based on your body type. The staff is very friendly, everyone was always available to answer any questions or needs, even the doctor. The clinic was very clean and comfortable. I am very happy with the care I received. My surgery was perfect, without any problems. Everyone did an incredible job and was concerned about my speedy recovery.

About Bookimed service
It was very helpful, they coordinated the type of surgery I wanted, prices, transfers, medical exams, dates, everything. I booked 6 months in advance and thought they would forget about my reservation and it was not like that.. they were pending all the time and any requests I may have. Even when my flight change in hours and dates. They took care and coordinated everything.

I’m feeling better than expected this early on
My main worries before the procedure were the recovery process and the final look of the scars. My surgeon was very direct about both, clearly explaining the realistic results, the swelling timeline, and exactly where the incisions for my full neck lift would be placed behind the ears. This honesty was appreciated. The procedure was done under general anesthesia, and I’m feeling better than expected this early on. The clinic’s support has been solid; they gave me a clear aftercare guide and have been easy to reach with questions. It was also a relief that there were no additional expenses on top of the quoted price.

The clinic staff were competent, and the surgeon was clear in our consultations
Waking up, I felt groggy but managed. The clinic staff were competent, and the surgeon was clear in our consultations. The incision was placed under the breast, which is what I wanted. I am still in the early recovery phase, and it has its challenges. My pain has lessened to a mild discomfort, but sleeping through the night is difficult, and my nipples are uncomfortably hypersensitive. Overall, the medical care was solid, though the recovery process itself is demanding. It’s a serious undertaking.

Despite the discomfort, the clinic, the staff, and my surgeon were all fantastic and provided great care
Monsplaty, Tummy Tuck and 360 Liposuction. My biggest concern going into this was what the recovery would actually feel like. It's not easy. The most challenging part has definitely been the constant tight feeling, which is something to be prepared for. My surgeon used a combination of liposuction and excision. Right now there is still some swelling, so it’s too early to know how my clothes will fit differently in the end. Despite the discomfort, the clinic, the staff, and my surgeon were all fantastic and provided great care. It was a professional and supportive environment, and I'm glad I made the choice to go there.
Very clean, very inviting. After care was good too. Everything was quick and easy. Communication via whatsapp made things easier as well. I travelled solo and the staff helped that little extra.
After surgery garments are not forgiving for us longer torso people. They were a bit short which added a lil discomfort when it rolled at the back. Other than that everything was really good.

Even at just 15 days post-op, the initial aspect is already better than expected
Seeing the surgical site for the first time was the moment everything finally felt real. Even at just 15 days post-op, the initial aspect is already better than expected. We used the penile inversion technique, and while the results look promising, the recovery requires a lot of patience and steady commitment to the healing process. My biggest challenge at this stage is definitely the physical discomfort of being seated for a long time. It is a process. The clinic staff has been very attentive during my stay, and I am expecting to have the catheter removed very soon. To anyone else preparing for this surgery, it’s not easy but it is a good experience overall.

Just trust them
What really stood out was sitting with my doctor before the procedure to draw the beard shape together. That personal approach made a huge difference. Honestly, so far I'm feeling better than expected. The procedure was done using the FUE technique. The clinic’s support afterward has been great; they provided a clear aftercare guide and have stayed in touch with me. It was also a relief that there were no additional expenses on top of what I had paid. My advice for a future patient? Just trust them. They know what they are doing!
Excellent staff. Really took care of me. Wjile the full effects of my procedure will take several months to show. I'm very pleased so far of the outcome. They are very accommodating and generous with their time
Some language issues but some of the staff speak English well enough that it really isn't a problem

What truly stood out was my surgeon, who was honest about realistic results from the start and personally handled both the consultation and the surgery
I was thinking that going into a revision was getting unrealistic promises. What truly stood out was my surgeon, who was honest about realistic results from the start and personally handled both the consultation and the surgery. It gave me confidence. My alarplasty was done to correct an asymmetric nose, and while I'm still in the early stages of healing, it’s really too early to tell what the final outcome will be. The staff were supportive, providing a clear aftercare guide for my recovery at home. I also appreciated that there were no additional expenses on top of what I had already paid the clinic.

the care provided by the surgeon and the staff was impeccable
My one-off operation went very well and the care provided by the surgeon and the staff was impeccable, apart from a few minor language issues. However, you should be prepared for a few additional costs that were not included in the original price: we had to pay for the transfers between the hotel and the clinic ourselves, and the wound care supplies were insufficient, which amounted to a mid-double-digit sum in total. My most important tip for future patients would be to make absolutely sure you clarify any dietary requirements (vegetarian/halal/...) with the clinic before you arrive.
The coordination team is very dedicated and always available. The staff are consistently very friendly and go out of their way to help. A very comprehensive package with extensive, thorough preliminary examinations and no hidden costs. A superbly equipped single room, including a sofa bed for an accompanying person.
Contrary to what was advertised, there was no interpreter. The nursing staff, in particular, did not always have a good enough command of English to explain everything clearly and in detail. The consultation with the surgeon was less detailed than expected. It wasn’t always entirely clear which services were included in the package and which weren’t (particularly transfers) – but there were no major hidden costs. Hospital food/light meals after operations are always a challenge, and perhaps even more so in a different cultural context – I wasn’t asked about any specific dietary preferences, so anyone who absolutely needs vegetarian, vegan, kosher or halal food should definitely clarify this in advance; in my opinion, the hospital bed was very hard, which is significantly more uncomfortable when you can’t move around much

I'm confident in my choice and would recommend this clinic
My biggest worry was how the results would actually look and feel afterward. Now that I'm in the early stages of recovery from the fat transfer graft, I can say the outcome is positive. The girth is already noticeably thicker. Everything is still slightly numb, as expected, but the visual change is definitely there. The surgeon and the entire staff were professional and clear with all information, which helped manage my concerns from the beginning. It's a relief. Based on the care I received and the initial results, I'm confident in my choice and would recommend this clinic.

The most reassuring part of the whole process was sitting with the surgeon before we started
The most reassuring part of the whole process was sitting with the surgeon before we started. He took the time to draw the hairline with me and clearly explained the entire FUE extraction and implantation process, which helped manage my expectations for the 2,000-3,000 graft procedure. Now in the early stages of healing, I'm feeling about as expected. The clinic has stayed in touch, which is good. Overall, it was a solid experience with the surgeon and staff, and I appreciated that there were no additional expenses on top of what I was quoted.

The entire staff and my surgeon were great and supportive through it all
My biggest fear was the recovery, and it’s certainly a process that requires patience. The entire staff and my surgeon were great and supportive through it all. Right now, my chin is still very swollen, so I can't properly see the projection from the large, solid silicone implant yet. The numbness has been the hardest part. My lower lip feels slightly numb, which has made eating the biggest challenge so far. It’s a strange sensation. Despite the temporary side effects of healing, the care I received was solid and I would recommend this clinic.
Really loved the stuff they were very cute and helpful

My breathing is now even better than before
My biggest concern was that the result might look unnatural or that my breathing might be affected. Neither of these things happened. In fact, my breathing is now even better than before. During the open rhinoplasty, a small bump was removed and the bridge of my nose is now, even so soon after the procedure, already straighter, just as I wanted. In addition, the tip of my nose already looks much more defined. The staff and the surgeon were consistently supportive and answered all my questions patiently, which gave me a great deal of reassurance. I felt I was in good hands.
Very simple and straightforward

FAQ about Breast Implant Removal in Thailand

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

What is a capsulectomy and is it necessary for breast implant removal in Thailand?

A capsulectomy is the surgical removal of scar tissue that forms around breast implants. It is common in Thailand for treating capsular contracture or ruptured implants. However, it is not always necessary. Thai surgeons evaluate capsule health during consultations to decide if full or partial removal is required.

  • Clinical necessity: Removal is required for severe capsular contracture, implant ruptures, or chronic pain.
  • Procedure types: Thailand specialists offer total, partial, or en bloc capsulectomy based on pathology.
  • Non-mandatory cases: Thin, healthy capsules without symptoms may be left to avoid extra surgical trauma.
  • Specialised care: Clinics like JCI-accredited Asia Cosmetic Hospital provide general anaesthesia and 6-month follow-ups.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Thai surgeons often have extensive reconstructive backgrounds. Dr Chokchai Amornsawadwattana at Yanhee International Hospital even trained at the Royal Melbourne Hospital. This expertise is vital because a total capsulectomy is more invasive than simple removal. It requires high precision to avoid tissue damage.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Thailand report feeling safe with professional anaesthetists and caring nursing staff. They recommend confirming in writing whether a quote covers simple removal or a more complex total capsulectomy.

Will my breasts sag after breast implant removal in Thailand?

Breasts often sag or look deflated after implant removal. This happens because the implants stretched the skin and tissue. Thai surgeons frequently combine removal with a breast lift (mastopexy) to restore shape. Results depend on skin elasticity, original breast volume, and how long the implants were in place.

  • Procedure pairing: Surgeons often recommend combining explantation with a breast lift for firmer results.
  • Settling period: Breasts typically take 3 to 6 months to reach their final post-surgical position.
  • Post-op support: Wearing a supportive garment for 6 weeks helps maintain shape during recovery.
  • Surgical expertise: Specialists like Dr Chokchai Amornsawadwattana at Yanhee Hospital have international training in breast reconstruction.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Thai clinics often provide comprehensive aftercare packages with 6-month follow-up support. This helps Australian patients managing their recovery from home. Choosing a JCI-accredited facility like Asia Cosmetic Hospital means surgeons follow the same safety standards as major hospitals in Melbourne or Sydney.

Patient Consensus: Post-removal appearance depends on original tissue and implant size rather than the surgery location. Patients in Thailand appreciated professional nurses. They also felt safe with highly trained anaesthetists during their stay.

How long do I need to stay in Thailand after breast implant removal?

Patients should stay in Thailand for 7 to 10 days after breast implant removal. This timeframe covers the surgery, an overnight hospital stay, and essential follow-up appointments. Surgeons usually perform the procedure under general anaesthesia. They require a final check-up before clearing patients for international flights.

  • Clinical monitoring: Most centres require 1 night in hospital to monitor initial recovery.
  • Drains and stitches: Surgeons usually remove surgical drains and non-dissolvable stitches by day 7.
  • Flight safety: Patients must rest for at least 5 days to prevent complications.
  • Follow-up care: Many Bangkok hospitals offer 6-month telehealth support for Australian patients returning home.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Thai hospitals like Yanhee and Wansiri provide safety with anaesthetist-led surgical teams. Dr Chokchai Amornsawadwattana at Yanhee Hospital trained in breast reconstruction at the Royal Melbourne Hospital. This Australian training background makes Thai specialists attuned to the care standards of Australian patients.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Thailand describe feeling safe and well-cared for by professional nurses. They often find the overnight rooms comfortable and the medical teams efficient during recovery.

What type of anaesthesia is used for breast implant removal in Thailand?

Breast implant removal in Thailand is typically performed under general anaesthesia. This ensures the patient remains unconscious and pain-free during the 1–3 hour surgery. Specialists at JCI-accredited facilities provide dedicated anaesthetists to monitor patient safety. These include hospitals such as Asia Cosmetic Hospital and Yanhee International Hospital.

  • Anaesthesia type: General anaesthesia is the standard for surgical explantation in Thai hospitals.
  • Clinical supervision: Qualified anaesthetists and cardiologists supervise the procedure at leading Bangkok centres.
  • Facility standards: Major clinics like Wansiri Hospital use Clean Room standard theatres with HEPA filtration.
  • Post-op monitoring: Patients stay in recovery suites for 24-hour monitoring following the anaesthetic.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Thai clinics like Asia Cosmetic Hospital often bundle general anaesthesia and VIP recovery rooms. This price structure differs from other countries where anaesthetist fees are often separate. Patients should confirm these inclusions upfront to maximise the A$72% savings compared to Australian costs.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Thailand report feeling secure due to professional anaesthetists and caring nursing teams. Most surgeries are hospital-based. These facilities provide comfortable overnight rooms for recovery after general anaesthesia.

How long is the recovery time for breast implant removal in Thailand?

Breast implant removal recovery in Thailand typically takes 2 weeks for initial healing. Patients can usually resume light activities within 7 to 14 days. Full recovery usually takes 6 weeks. Specialists at JCI-accredited facilities often recommend 5 days of absolute rest following the procedure.

  • Hospital stay: Patients often remain overnight in private VIP rooms for 24-hour monitoring.
  • Physical activity: Avoid strenuous exercise and heavy lifting for at least 6 weeks.
  • Compression garments: Wear medical support bras for 6 weeks to help tissue settle.
  • Travel window: Professionals suggest waiting 10–14 days before taking a long-haul flight.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Thai clinics like Asia Cosmetic Hospital often bundle 6-month follow-up care into explantation packages. This support is vital because breast shape takes 3 to 6 months to settle fully. Choosing a surgeon like Dr. Chokchai Amornsawadwattana, who trained at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, helps meet Australian clinical standards.

Patient Consensus: Expect chest tightness and fatigue during the first few days in Thailand. Patients found that professional nurses and anaesthetists made them feel safe during the overnight hospital stay.

How long does the breast implant removal procedure take in Thailand?

Breast implant removal in Thailand typically takes 1 to 3 hours under general anaesthesia. The duration depends on the complexity of the removal. If surgeons perform a breast lift or capsulectomy, the operation can reach 5 hours.

  • Procedure length: Theatre time usually spans 1 to 3 hours for straightforward removals.
  • Combined surgeries: Adding a breast lift or scar tissue removal can increase time to 5 hours.
  • Hospital stay: Most patients require 1 night in hospital for post-operative monitoring.
  • In-country stay: Surgeons recommend staying in Thailand for 7 to 8 nights for follow-up care.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While surgery is quick, the total clinic visit often lasts an entire day. This covers pre-op checks and anaesthesia recovery. Some clinics, like Asia Cosmetic Hospital, provide 6-month follow-up care. This support is vital for monitoring healing after you return to Australia.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Thailand found the surgical teams efficient and professional. Many appreciated having a comfortable overnight room and felt safe with the attentive nursing care.

Where are the incisions made during breast implant removal in Thailand?

Surgeons in Thailand typically place incisions along existing scars to avoid new scarring. The most common sites are the inframammary fold and the periareolar border. Precise placement depends on whether a capsulectomy is required.

  • Inframammary fold: Surgeons use the natural crease under the breast to hide scars.
  • Periareolar incision: Placement follows the dark skin border around the nipple for minimal visibility.
  • Existing scars: Doctors usually reopen previous sites to prevent creating new marks.
  • Capsulectomy requirements: Removing the scar tissue capsule may require slightly larger incisions.
  • Simultaneous lift: Vertical or lollipop incisions are added if performing a breast lift concurrently.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Thai clinics like Asia Cosmetic Hospital often bundle 6-month follow-up care into packages. This is vital because incision healing and tissue settling take several months. Long-term telehealth access allows Australian patients to monitor scar maturation from home.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Thailand appreciate that surgeons prioritise using old scars. They report feeling safe with professional anaesthetists and caring nurses during the procedure. Comfortable rooms and efficient staff make the recovery experience smooth and stress-free.
