How Much Does Back Liposuction Cost in Thailand in AUD?

Back liposuction in Thailand typically costs from AUD $1,015 / ฿A34,525 to AUD $5,077 / ฿A172,623. The final price depends on the volume of fat removed, the specific back zones treated, and the surgical technology used. In Australia, this procedure costs AUD $9,719 / ฿A330,450 on average. Patients can save around 69% by choosing private clinics in Bangkok or Phuket. Packages usually include the surgical fee, anaesthetic, and post-operative medications.

  • Vaser technology: Typically carries a 20–30% premium over traditional methods for smoother skin results.
  • 360 liposuction: Often costs significantly more as it contours the entire midsection and back.
  • Single area: Targeted treatment for the upper or lower back is the most affordable option.
  • BMI considerations: Some clinics apply tiered pricing for patients with a BMI over 25.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While Bangkok is the primary hub, Thai clinics offer exceptional value through high success rates. For example, Wansiri Hospital maintains a 99% success rate for body contouring procedures. Australian patients frequently visit ID Clinic Bangkok due to its high volume and experience with international body types. Choosing a JCI-accredited facility like Asia Cosmetic Hospital ensures safety standards that match or exceed those in Australia.

Data verified by Bookimed as of July 2026, based on patient requests and official quotes from 188 clinics worldwide. Median costs are based on real invoices (2025–2026) and updated monthly. Actual prices may vary.

The surgery is performed at the clinic not at a hospital which concerned me (were they prepared if something went wrong), the rooms opened up to the front desk where people would come for appointments and the toilet was across reception. I felt I didn't have much privacy and was very exposed. Nurses would not always come especially at night when I needed assistance to the toilet. I would be waiting at my hotel for a car and they would have forgotten to send one so the organisation level was not very good. It wasn't a very friendly/caring environment i felt. The communication was very poor too, there was one lady there that spoke English and she never smiled it just didnt feel good. I spoke to the doctor very briefly on surgery day and then he never spoke to me again. I wouldnt go back, ive had surgery in Thailand before and had a far better experience.
The nurses who cleaned my bandages and helped with my compression garments were lovely.
Room quality, upfront about procedures being done in a small operating room at a small clinic not hospital (was about 10 steps from reception), assistance and attentiveness (I didnt get fed after surgery i had to ask for food and they gave me boiled rice, then they also forgot about my breakfast), needs massive improvement in communication and organisation. More support and care. Doctor follow up post surgery should be done.
About Bookimed service
My experience with Bookimed prior to surgery was okay but I was really disappointed with the clinic having had it recommended by Bookimed. There should have been alot I should have been told about prior regarding the clinic and I voiced what was happening but I dont think much will be done about it but I just hope noone else has a similar experience as mine.

The staff were fantastic and supportive through every step
I am noticing some subtle changes to my contour, which is encouraging. The staff were fantastic and supportive through every step. The surgeon was professional, though I had minor reservations. My main issue was with the clinic on the surgery side itself; the facilities felt a bit outdated and could use an upgrade. For that reason, my recommendation score is a 7. The people are wonderful, but the physical clinic has room for improvement.

But overall I'm really happy with my experience with the ID Clinic team ☺️
Ice was one of the nurses who collected me from the airport. She was so kind for waiting nearly two hours for me due to a delay I had. She helped me so much after my surgery too. Another nurse Marge was wonderful. She helped with translation and my aftercare, she was so gentle when helping take out my stitches. I thank all of the nursing staff, they were all wonderful in their own way and treated me very well. I wish I could have spoken with the doctor more, he always seemed in a rush, I know he is a very busy man but if he could slow down just a bit it would help the patient care factor improve. But overall I'm really happy with my experience with the ID Clinic team ☺️ I only took two pictures of the inside of my overnight room, the clinic was very clean and comfortable and beautiful 🙏
The staff and nurses were exceptional!
Not enough conversation with the doctor, he seemed in a hurry

Very thorough and attentive medical staff
Very thorough and attentive medical staff. Vip like attention to detail and care. I was apprehensive if this was the right clinic for lipo as most of their services centred around aesthetics fillers and botox and those stuff. Had lipo on my abs and flanks, and I can already see the results after 10 days. Dr Aim really knows what she’s doing. Their BISP clinic is really comfy, they should prob move major procedures there in the future as it’s bigger than the Big C one. Thank you Siam Clinic.
VIP level attention to care and concerns
Maybe just a little cramped clinic at Big C. But just a minor gripe.

Overall, I happy with my liposuction and tummy tuck procedure
My surgeon was excellent however, when I asked about the risks, he didn’t reply. The medical staff/nurses were excellent, however, there was only 1 nurse who spoke English well but she was unavailable for 2 of my medical appointments (not her fault, she was in the OR). As a result, I had to rely on the translator for information. She often didn’t ask other nurses for information, so I felt I wasn’t getting specific medical information related to my recovery but rather general information. In my opinion, this shouldn’t happen and is a shortcoming of the clinic which can easily be rectified through feedback. My other observation is the cost of the procedure changed three times. Bookimed stated “The average cost of Liposuction in Thailand ranges from $2,177 to $6,444.” No currency was listed, I found out from Adam on WhatsApp the currency was THB. That would indicate that bookimed low-balled the cost considerably. Your personal medical coordinator is Dr. Marsela Canameti. The treatment price ranges from $2,000 to $3,500 USD, depending on the specifics of your case. Program description: The patient is good candidate to the Vaser liposuction and tummy tuck surgery . This procedure cost 4500 USD. The day of my surgery, when I was asked to pay, I was told that if I used a credit card, I would have to pay a 3% surcharge. That should have been mentioned on the day of my consultation. The day before, when I paid the $500 USD deposit with my credit card, they didn’t mention a surcharge. I made the maximum payment on my debit card, then they charged my credit card twice and said they didn’t charge me the extra 3%. Overall, I happy with my liposuction and tummy tuck procedure, continue to recover and need to wait 1-2 or months to be fully recovered and see the final result. I would recommend the ID clinic.
The care and empathy demonstrated by the nurses after my procedure

About Bookimed service
Bookimed was often behind/not keeping up with the progress of my case. In the bookimed chat they told me I had to pay $200 for my appointment. I asked why or how to pay but didn’t get an answer. Seems your medical coordinator is currently not in the workplace. Your message is delivered, and they will respond to you as soon as they are back! Your patience is appreciated, In WhatsApp, I was asked if I needed the clinic address. My consultation appointment was at 11am, so by the time I was asked this was 3 hours too late, I already had my consultation and was already at a hospital getting my medical tests. Thank you ID Clinic, I highly recommend
I am happy with the expertise provided by the doctor. He understood and have my needs by explaining his technique in tummy tuck and liposuction and compared other techniques he has used before. Shout out to Ice and Marj who went above and beyond to put me at ease with my procedures. The hotel inclusive of the package was a great touch in being closer to the doctor for pain relief and further enquiries. The doctor structured procedures in different days to ensure that the body can heal between procedures. I will be happy with the result once scarring and swelling have subsided. Thank you ID Clinic, I highly recommend.
That doctor has been in practice for long and knew the best technique to use.
The lack in providing a clear structure of what to expect post healing of which a checklist can be provided to the patient abd provide assurance and further understanding.
About Bookimed service
Bookimed response time was efficient and they communicated to the clinics which they had referred me to about my concerns and pricing. They provided me with 5% off and $100US from procedures from referals that I gave. A middle person is required to advocate for me during tough healing situations.

The overall experience was one of the most pleasant I've ever had
The team is very caring, and loving. They took care of me as they would of a family member, not just a patient at the clinic. The overall experience was one of the most pleasant I've ever had.

FAQ about Back Liposuction in Thailand

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

Is getting back liposuction in Thailand safe?

Back liposuction in Thailand is safe when performed in centres accredited by JCI (Joint Commission International). This includes hospitals recognised by the Royal College of Surgeons of Thailand. Facilities like Yanhee International Hospital and Asia Cosmetic Hospital maintain sterile environments. They use board-certified specialists to minimise risks like asymmetry or contour irregularities.

  • Accredited facilities: Major hospitals hold JCI and ISO certifications for high sterility and safety standards.
  • Expert specialists: Surgeons like Dr Pichet Rodchareon have performed 3,000+ procedures and hold international memberships.
  • Modern techniques: Clinics use Vaser ultrasound-assisted technology to liquefy fat, reducing trauma and speeding up healing.
  • Anaesthesia safety: Procedures involve general anaesthesia monitored by dedicated anaesthetists and cardiologists.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Many clinics offer back liposuction, but safety levels vary by facility type. Large hospitals like Yanhee handle 450,000+ patients annually with 24-hour monitoring. Choosing these multi-specialty centres over small boutiques provides immediate access to emergency teams if needed.

Patient Consensus: Patients find the experience safer with English-speaking staff and comprehensive follow-up plans. Success involves staying in Thailand for scheduled check-ups and following strict compression garment instructions.

What is the recovery timeline for back liposuction in Thailand?

Back liposuction recovery in Thailand requires staying 9 to 14 days for safety before flying. Initial hospitalisation lasts 1 day. Most patients return to light activity after 7–10 days. Final tissue settling occurs over 3 to 6 months.

  • Clinic stay: Patients spend 1 night at accredited hospitals like Asia Cosmetic Hospital for monitoring.
  • Initial rest: Sleeping on the stomach is necessary for 3 days to protect incisions.
  • Flight clearance: Surgeons issue a fit-to-fly certificate between day 7 and day 10.
  • Compression wear: Medical garments must be worn 24/7 for the first 4 to 6 weeks.

Bookimed Expert Insight: High-volume surgeons in Bangkok have managed over 15,000+ operations each. Dr Tanongsak Panyawirunroj at Asia Cosmetic Hospital alone has performed 15,000+ procedures. This experience is critical for back liposuction. The skin must adhere perfectly to the muscles to avoid fluid buildup.

Patient Consensus: The first few days in Thailand bring soreness and fatigue. Moving feels awkward but light walking helps. Swelling and stiffness are common during the long flight home to Australia. Most patients find the final results appear gradually as puffiness fades over several months.

How long should I plan to stay in Thailand for back liposuction?

Patients should plan to stay in Thailand for 7 to 14 days after back liposuction. This timeframe allows for a 1-day hospital stay and recovery in a hotel. It also covers follow-up appointments at clinics like Asia Cosmetic Hospital or Wansiri Hospital.

  • Clinical stay: Most packages include 1 day in hospital for monitoring after general anaesthesia.
  • Follow-up window: Surgeons typically require 7 to 10 days for wound checks and stitch removal.
  • Fly-home readiness: At least 9 days is recommended to ensure stability before long-haul flights.
  • Procedure volume: Larger volume liposuction or combined surgeries often require a full 14-day stay.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Many clinics offer a 1-day hospital stay. However, the best outcomes often involve facilities with specialised support. At Asia Cosmetic Hospital, surgeons work with anaesthetists and cardiologists. This extra safety is valuable for Australians undergoing full-body contouring.

Patient Consensus: Travellers find that 2 weeks provides a comfortable buffer for recovery and swelling management. Most recommend booking central Bangkok accommodation with easy lift access. Patients should have at least one in-person specialist review before departure.

Is back liposuction performed in Thailand a weight loss method?

Back liposuction in Thailand is a contouring procedure rather than a weight loss method. It permanently removes stubborn fat from the back to improve body shape and definition. Candidates usually maintain a stable weight but seek to eliminate bulges resistant to diet and exercise.

  • Body sculpting: Targeted removal of local fat deposits creates a smoother, more defined silhouette.
  • Technique variety: Clinics use Vaser ultrasound, laser-assisted contouring, or the specialised Liposuccion Maestro technique.
  • Specific limitations: Surgeons focus on reshaping tissue rather than achieving significant reductions in kilograms.
  • Anaesthesia used: Most back liposuction procedures in Thai hospitals require general anaesthesia for patient comfort.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While costs from $700 are attractive, the real value in Thailand is the experience volume. Surgeons like Dr Tanongsak Panyawirunroj have performed 15,000+ procedures. This high volume often leads to better skin contraction outcomes. Good skin contraction is vital for back contouring.

Patient Consensus: Patients find that Thailand offers a high standard of care with visible contour improvements. They suggest confirming all transfer arrangements. They also recommend checking that nurses provide overnight assistance during hospital stays.

Which liposuction techniques are commonly used for back procedures in Thai clinics?

Thai clinics commonly use Vaser ultrasound-assisted liposuction and laser-assisted sculpture for fibrous back fat. Surgeons often combine these with microcannulas for precise contouring of bra lines and love handles. Specialists like Dr Rushapol Sdawat at Intrarat Hospital specialise in these device-assisted approaches.

  • Vaser liposuction: Uses ultrasound to break down fat cells while sparing surrounding tissue.
  • Microcannula liposculpt: Uses ultra-thin tubes for smoother results and smaller, discreet entry points.
  • Laser body sculpture: Uses laser energy to liquefy fat. This also helps with skin tightening.
  • Liposuccion Maestro: A premium contouring technique offered by specialists at Asia Cosmetic Hospital.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Thai surgeons often provide 6-month follow-up plans for back procedures. This is longer than the typical 1-month check-up. This focus helps manage the back's unique healing profile and long-term skin retraction.

Patient Consensus: Patients often discuss Vaser as a preferred option for back and flank contouring. Many recommend confirming if the goal is fat removal or high-definition etching. Combining back work with bra-roll and waist contouring is common in Bangkok clinics.

What specific areas of the back can be treated by liposuction in Thailand?

Thai surgeons specialise in contouring the upper back bra bulge, middle back deposits, and lower back love handles. Many clinics, such as Asia Cosmetic Hospital, also offer 360-degree waistline sculpting. This removes stubborn fat from the back and flanks for a balanced result.

  • Upper back: Targets the bra line and rolls around the shoulder blades.
  • Mid-back area: Treats fatty deposits between the shoulder blades and the waist.
  • Lower back: Focuses on the flanks or love handles to define the waist.
  • Full contouring: Combines multiple back zones with the abdomen for a 360-degree result.
  • Refined techniques: Specialists often use Vaser or microcannula liposuction for smoother skin results.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Australian patients may expect a single back price. However, Thai clinics usually price by area or volume. Asia Cosmetic Hospital offers a Maestro Technique package for A$2,700. This is significantly lower than the $6,700 Australian average, often saving patients up to 69%.

Patient Consensus: Patients note that results for bra bulges and shoulder-blade fat depend on skin elasticity. They suggest sending photos in fitted tops. This helps doctors in Thailand plan exact incision sites.

Can I combine back liposuction with other procedures in Thailand?

Back liposuction is often combined with other contouring procedures in Thailand. This creates a balanced silhouette and reduces travel expenses. Surgeons often pair it with tummy tucks, breast augmentation, or fat transfers. Bangkok clinics maintain high safety standards for these multi-area transformations.

  • Common combinations: Surgeons often perform back liposuction alongside tummy tucks, breast work, or lipofilling.
  • Clinical safety: Accredited facilities like Asia Cosmetic Hospital feature specialist anaesthetists and cardiologists for combined cases.
  • Specialised techniques: Specialists like Dr Rushapol Sdawat use Vaser technology to sculpt multiple zones in one session.
  • Care standards: Modern theatres at clinics like Lelux Hospital use HEPA air filtration to prevent infections.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While single-area lipo starts from $700, combined packages offer higher value. They share one theatre fee and one anaesthetic cost. Dr Tanongsak Panyawirunroj at Asia Cosmetic Hospital has performed 15,000+ surgeries. His team manages extended surgery times for multiple procedures with 0% post-surgery complication rates.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Thailand find that combining treatments streamlines their journey. It requires only one recovery window and one course of anaesthesia. They suggest packing loose clothing. You should also confirm if compression garments for all areas are included in the price.
