How Much Does Vitreolisis Cost in Turkey in AUD?

Vitreolisis in Turkey typically costs from AUD $719 to AUD $1,870. The final price often depends on the number of sessions required and the specific laser technology used. Patients in Australia save approximately 44% compared to local private costs, which average AUD $2,301. Standard Turkish packages generally include the specialist consultation, diagnostic imaging, and follow-up examinations, though transport and hotel stays usually require separate budgeting.

  • Laser session: AUD $719 to AUD $1,870 per eye per treatment.
  • Combined protocols: adding retinal therapies or injections may increase individual session costs by 20–30%.
  • Regional variations: packages in Istanbul often run 15–20% higher than in cities like Izmit.
  • Surgical vitrectomy: provides a permanent alternative for complex cases, typically starting around 50% more.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Choosing a specialised eye centre like Dunyagoz Eye Hospital or Cagin Eye Hospital adds significant value. Dunyagoz treats over 60,000 patients annually and provides 24-hour care. This volume allows for lower costs while maintaining high quality standards. For complex cases, choosing surgeons like Dr. Muhammet Derda Ozer, who has performed 25,000+ surgeries, provides access to fellowship-trained expertise at a fraction of Australian private rates.

It was a very good experience for us and we are grateful for the treatment provided
It was a very good experience for us, and I will use this service in the future if necessary. All the answers to my questions were given. Everything is very organized. They have their own counter at the airport, where they arranged a transfer for us and brought us comfortably to the hotel. We were accompanied everywhere. The price of the service was as agreed in advance. There were no additional payments. I only spent money on my husband's eye drops at the pharmacy, but they're sold at affordable prices. The hospital is very modern, it's a large complex, there's a university nearby. The hospital has a special department for dealing with foreign clients. We didn't run, we weren't looking for anything, Mustafa was with us all the time and made arrangements for everything himself. There were a few days between the diagnosis and surgery, and we managed to book several tours of Istanbul. It helped us relieve the tension of worrying about the surgery. My husband has an agimatism, he got the best lenses in the world that exist right now. These lenses were made specifically for the parameters of his eye. It's been less than a week since the surgery, but my husband says he can see some things even better than he had with glasses before. The rehabilitation is not over yet, he has to drip eye drops on schedule for a month, take care of eyes, and don't lift heavy things and rub eyes. The doctors have done their job, now a lot depends on how clearly my husband adheres to the doctor's recommendations. It was a very good experience for us and we are grateful for the treatment provided.

The recovery so far is better than expected
If you're considering this procedure, my main advice is to bring a physical card for payment. I used Apple Pay, which had a low transaction limit and forced me to make about 20 separate payments to cover the cost. Medically, everything was straightforward. I had lens replacement in both eyes on the same day, and the recovery so far is better than expected. my doctor, who took the time to explain which technique suited my eyes and was very honest about the realistic vision outcome I could anticipate. I must also say a huge thank you to the night nurse ( mirve ) I think was her name she was outstanding and took good care of me . It was reassuring that there were no additional expenses. The one thing to note is that there was little contact from the clinic after I left, but the core service was solid.
I can’t speak highly enough of the treatment from all staff especially mirve who looked after me through the night she came every hour to do my drops until I asked her to come at 6.00 in morning she gave me an extension number incase I needed anything before six , which I did at 5.00am she immediately came to my room and sorted my issue the operation went perfect and after only two days I can see better than I have in the last 18 years 👌👍👌 thank you everyone

Being able to see the world clearly really does change the quality of life
I’d like to leave a positive review of the Dünyagöz clinic and Bookimed, the company that helped me find this clinic. First and foremost, I’d like to highlight the high standard of service at the Dünyagöz clinic. Upon arrival, I was promptly met and immediately provided with an interpreter. So there is absolutely no need to worry about the language barrier — both Russian and English are available here. The interpreter accompanies you at every stage: from the initial consultation right through to the operation itself. This is very important, as eye care requires a precise understanding of all your concerns and the doctor’s recommendations. I was also pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness and comfort of the wards. All the staff are very friendly, helpful and always ready to assist with any queries. Another definite plus was the full board: breakfast, lunch and dinner are included, so you don’t have to worry about practical matters and can focus entirely on your treatment and recovery. I would like to express my special thanks to Bookimed. Throughout the entire process, you are supported by a personal coordinator who helps organise your trip, answers questions and provides all the necessary details. My coordinator was Anastasia, and I am sincerely grateful to her for her support. She was available practically 24/7 and even helped with matters not directly related to the clinic. It was on her recommendation that I chose Dünyagöz. What’s more, Anastasia herself had previously had her vision corrected at the same clinic, so she was able to share her personal experience. Now we are both delighted with the result and can confidently recommend this clinic to others. If you’ve been thinking about vision correction for a while, there’s no need to be afraid or put off the decision. After the operation, you realise you should have done it much sooner. Being able to see the world clearly really does change the quality of life. I wish everyone good luck, good health and nothing but positive experiences with their new, clear vision!

I am very impressed with the quality and standard of the whole process
Communication was great. I was picked up from the hotel, transfered to the hospital, and accompanied by Adam (translator) through the journey. He knew exactly the intake process and what they would want. He was well organized and very friendly. The consultant spoke English and was very calm, and professional. I had femto iLasik which was without complication. Pre-op my prescription was -7. Day 0 post op, I could still see but with blurry vision. Day 1 post op, my vision is now 20/20. But eyes feel gritty but hopefully will ease in a few days. I am very impressed with the quality and standard of the whole process. I would highly recommend Turkey for medical tourism. It's affordable and a beautiful clean city to visit as well. Stupendous experience.

My distance vision is now crystal clear at 20/20, which is a massive change from my previous prescription in the -3 to -6 diopter range
My biggest worry before getting LASIK was the risk of side effects like long-term dry eyes or glare. I can honestly say my recovery has been very straightforward so far. I’ve had no dryness at all, and even better, I haven’t noticed any halos or glare in low light, which was a huge relief for me. My distance vision is now crystal clear at 20/20, which is a massive change from my previous prescription in the -3 to -6 diopter range. Overall, the whole process was solid. Of course, everyone’s experience will vary, and when I was researching beforehand, I saw many people discussing side effects that I personally did not experience at all. I had the LASIK treatment rather than SMILE, so this review is based on my own LASIK experience. Make sure to do all your research beforehand. If your main concern is whether the clinic is good to get the procedure done, then in simple terms, yes, it is. Like any place, there are things outside of the actual surgery that could be improved, but I would recommend looking through reviews carefully and moving forward with what you personally feel comfortable and confident with.
The staff were good, the room provided was also great, and the surgery went very fast and smoothly with no issues at all. Everyone was kind and helpful throughout the experience. The staff who brought the food and checked in were especially nice. There was one individual in particular I’m not sure of his name, but he spoke English and was incredibly sweet, always checking in and asking if everything was okay. He definitely made the whole experience much better and more comfortable.
One area for improvement would be communication, as English seems to be limited mainly to the coordinator and doctor . If you need to ask other staff or reception for help or information, it can sometimes be a little difficult to navigate. I would recommend having a translation app available and making sure you have your in-hospital coordinator’s contact number handy, as following things up through reception or other staff is not easy . There was also a slight issue with payment, so I would recommend having a backup payment method or checking beforehand what to do if the card machine does not work, since payments are handled directly there. This is especially important if you are travelling from abroad, as I travelled from the UK.

What really stood out was how my doctor took the time to show me what to expect with each lens type after testing my eyes thoroughly, which helped me confidently choose the multifocal option
What really stood out was how my doctor took the time to show me what to expect with each lens type after testing my eyes thoroughly, which helped me confidently choose the multifocal option. He performed the surgery personally on both of my eyes the same day. My recovery is going about as expected, and the clinic provided a clear aftercare guide. Just be prepared for the other costs. Of course, I had to pay for my flight, a two-week hotel stay, and also a required $150 medical insurance policy on top of the clinic's price.

I recommend bookimed
My husband and I traveled from New Zealand to both get eye lens replacement surgery. From the start we have had print and effient communication. With every question answered. We were picked up from the airport, taken to hotel, then the same day at our request taken to the hospital for our appointment. Two days later we were in having eye surgery again with pick ups and drop offs. We were met at the hospital entrance, by bookimed.com translators and hospital translators they were amazing every day, in every way. The doctors were provisional and onto it, explaining every detail, and answering all our questions. Our procedure went very well and we are very happy with the outcome and how amazing we can see, no longer with glasses or contacts. I recommend bookimed.com to everyone. Vikki

The surgeon and the medical team were brilliant and explained everything to me, which put me at ease
My biggest concern was the procedure itself and the potential side effects. Fortunately, the surgeon and the medical team were brilliant and explained everything to me, which put me at ease. It has now been 15 days since my umbilical cord stem cell treatment. To be honest, I haven’t noticed any changes yet, which is to be expected at this early stage. There is still some pain when I touch the injection site. I’ve been sticking to the post-treatment restrictions most of the time, and the clinic itself was good but not entirely modern, which is why I’ve given it four stars. Overall, it was a good experience and now I just need to be patient.

Here, however, they diagnosed my type of uveitis on the very same day, which was a huge relief
What worried me most was the uncertainty and the long search for the causes of my condition. Here, however, they diagnosed my type of uveitis on the very same day, which was a huge relief. The doctor immediately explained the possible triggers, which helped me understand the situation. It’s only been 15 days, and I’m still in the early stages of recovery. The pain in my eyes has eased slightly, as has my sensitivity to light. My visual acuity remains unchanged for now, but I realise that this will take time. The whole clinic team worked very smoothly and professionally, which gave me a sense of calm.

It’s so world changing to be able to see clearly again!
Overall, the experience was very much worth. It’s so world changing to be able to see clearly again! The cost was so much better than in the US, and I was also able to get the lens I wanted that is not available in the US yet. Other than a false assumption about where my hotel was located, and the drivers having difficulty finding me, the only perimeter went pretty smoothly. I’m happy with the outcome. I would only suggest that there be at least one nurse or medical staff besides the doctor who speaks English. Many more paranoid, or less traveled Americans would have a hard time going through that honestly. I feel the service is very worth iit overall, those are just some recommendations to make the service excellent and a no-brainer for Americans who need medical procedures.

I highly recommend this clinic
My entire trip to Istanbul was well organised from the very start: the transfer from the airport to the clinic, the interpreter, and the competence of the staff and the doctor. I really appreciated that the doctor calmly and without any fuss explained what was going to be done and which procedure would be best for me. The interpreter was also very good; overall, the examination and operation went quickly (and painlessly). I highly recommend this clinic. For the money, you get good service and, above all, a high-quality operation. Thank you 🤩
The clinic is excellent – I highly recommend it. The staff take great care of their patients. The doctor is highly competent and provided a great deal of information about the treatment and rehabilitation. After a painless operation, my vision had already improved by the evening. A week has now passed and I am very satisfied; I’ve had no problems at all during this time, my vision is good and I’m happy. Thank you for everything))

FAQ about Vitreolisis in Turkey

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

What is the vitreolysis procedure for eye floaters in Turkey?

Vitreolysis in Turkey uses YAG laser to break up large eye floaters, like Weiss rings, by converting them into gas bubbles that the eye absorbs. It is a quick, non-surgical procedure mainly effective for large floaters caused by posterior vitreous detachment, but less so for smaller floaters or strands.

  • Technique: YAG laser vitreolysis targets collagen fibres to reduce floaters.
  • Effectiveness: Best for large floaters; less effect on smaller dots, strands, or clouds.
  • Risks: Repeated sessions may cause new floaters or worsen vision.
  • Alternative: Floater-only vitrectomy surgery offers 90%+ success for severe cases.
  • Clinics: JCI-accredited centres in Istanbul, such as DERDA SAGLIK HIZMETLERI, offer treatment.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Most Australian patients opt for vitrectomy surgery in Turkey over vitreolysis, as experienced retinal surgeons performing 25,000+ surgeries have better success. Vitreolysis packages are cheaper but suit only specific floater types, so thorough evaluation with a retina specialist is crucial.

Patient Consensus: Australians report vitreolysis works mainly for large floaters but often not for smaller ones. Repeated treatments can bring inconsistent results, so many travel to Turkey for vitrectomy surgery instead for lasting relief.

What are the potential benefits of having laser vitreolysis in Turkey?

Laser vitreolysis in Turkey offers affordable, non-surgical treatment for eye floaters using YAG laser technology. Experienced retina specialists deliver precise care in JCI-accredited clinics, enabling fast recovery and reduced vision shadows without invasive surgery.

  • Cost advantage: Procedures from $500 to $1,300 AUD.
  • Expertise: Surgeons like Associate Professor Muhammet Derda Ozer have performed 25,000+ eye surgeries.
  • Technology: Advanced YAG laser suitable for specific vitreous floaters.
  • Hospital stay: Usually outpatient; vitrectomy alternative requires a 1-day stay.
  • Clinic quality: JCI accreditation and government authorisations ensure international standards.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Turkey leads globally with 393 clinics offering vitreolysis and serves over 5,000 patients yearly. Clinics like DERDA SAGLIK HIZMETLERI combine extensive surgeon experience and eco-friendly certifications, delivering affordable, high-standard eye care tailored for international patients.

Patient Consensus: Many find laser vitreolysis helps with specific floaters after full vitreous detachment. Patients highlight seeing quick results but note not all floater types respond. Turkish retina specialists recommend thorough diagnosis before treatment to maximise benefit.

Why choose Turkey for vitreolysis treatment of eye floaters?

Turkey is a leading destination for vitreolysis and vitrectomy eye floater treatment with expert ophthalmologists and JCI-accredited clinics in Istanbul. Experienced retina surgeons like Dr Muhammet Derda Ozer have performed 25,000+ procedures, offering high success rates and advanced laser treatments.

  • Top clinics: Associate Professor M. Derda Ozer DERDA SAGLIK HIZMETLERI holds JCI and Temos accreditations.
  • Expert surgeons: Retina specialists trained in US and Europe perform vitreolysis and vitrectomy.
  • Success rates: Vitrectomy exceeds 90% patient satisfaction in floater removal procedures.
  • Technology: Clinics use OCT, femtosecond lasers, and wavefront technology for precise treatment.
  • Patient volume: Istanbul hospitals cater to 20,000+ eye patients yearly, ensuring extensive experience.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While laser vitreolysis suits Weiss ring floaters only, Turkey stands out for vitrectomy—preferred by Australians for its availability and skilled surgeons like Dr Muhammet Derda Ozer who has performed 25,000+ surgeries. Top Istanbul clinics combine JCI accreditation with modern tech, giving patients safe, effective care.

Patient Consensus: Australians favour Turkey for floater surgery due to doctors’ readiness and experience. Many say laser vitreolysis may worsen floaters, while vitrectomy delivers real relief and fast recovery. Istanbul clinics offer strong support with VIP transfers and hotel stays.

How long does the vitreolysis procedure take in Turkey?

The vitreolysis procedure in Turkey typically lasts 15 to 30 minutes. Including preparation and eye dilation, appointments take about 1 hour. It is a quick, non-surgical laser treatment performed in outpatient clinics like Dunyagoz Eye Hospital Istanbul and Derda Saglik Hizmetleri.

  • Procedure length: Laser session usually takes 15–30 minutes.
  • Total appointment: Around 1 hour including preparation and dilation.
  • Setting: Outpatient, no hospital stay required for vitreolysis.
  • Experienced surgeons: Dr Muhammet Derda Ozer has 25,000+ eye surgeries.
  • Clinics: Istanbul hosts many accredited centres such as JCI-accredited Derda Saglik Hizmetleri.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Many Istanbul clinics offer vitreolysis in focused sessions under an hour. Clinics like Derda Saglik Hizmetleri combine top surgeon experience with JCI accreditation, providing trusted fast service. Australian patients often benefit from telehealth follow-ups for smooth recovery without extended visits.

Patient Consensus: Patients note the quick procedure in Turkey suits tight schedules. Many appreciate clear communication and ease of travel. Australian patients especially value clinics offering interpreters and remote follow-up options after vitreolysis.

What is the typical treatment process for vitreolysis in Turkey?

Vitreolysis in Turkey uses YAG laser to safely vapourise eye floaters in an outpatient setting. Treatment involves initial assessment, laser sessions lasting up to an hour, and follow-up checks. Istanbul clinics like Associate Professor M. Derda Ozer DERDA SAGLIK HIZMETLERI offer JCI-accredited care with advanced eye imaging.

  • Initial consultation: Comprehensive eye exam and floater evaluation by ophthalmologists.
  • Preoperative tests: Eye ultrasound and pressure measurement before laser therapy.
  • Laser session: Pupil dilation, local anaesthetic drops, 15–60-minute YAG laser procedure.
  • Follow-up: Eye pressure check and vision assessment post-treatment, often remote options.
  • Recovery: Eye drops prescribed, avoid strenuous activity, normal routines resume within two weeks.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Most clinics in Turkey, including the 4-doctor team at DERDA SAGLIK HIZMETLERI, perform thousands of laser vitreolysis sessions annually, maintaining safety standards backed by JCI accreditation and eco-friendly LEED certification. Many surgeons recommend monitoring floaters 6-12 months before surgery, which aligns well with Australian patients’ expectations. Remote follow-up options are increasingly available, providing ongoing care convenience from Australia.

Patient Consensus: Patients highlight clear communication about when laser or surgery suits different floaters. They appreciate Istanbul’s skilled surgeons and streamlined 4-day treatment plans with thorough follow-ups. Remote check-ups after discharge ease recovery management for those returning to Australia.

Is vitreolysis a painful procedure for eye floaters in Turkey?

Vitreolysis in Turkey is a mostly painless procedure for eye floaters, using topical anaesthetic drops to numb the eye. Patients may feel mild discomfort during treatment, but it is non-invasive and generally well tolerated. Specialists perform YAG laser vitreolysis effectively with minimal pain.

  • Anaesthesia: topical anaesthetic eye drops prevent pain during vitreolysis.
  • Procedure type: non-invasive YAG laser treatment for eye floaters.
  • Mild discomfort: possible during laser application, but not painful.
  • No hospital stay: vitreolysis is an outpatient procedure.
  • Specialist care: experienced vitreoretinal surgeons perform treatment in JCI-accredited clinics.

Bookimed Expert Insight: In Turkey, top vitreoretinal surgeons like Associate Professor Muhammet Derda Ozer have performed 25,000+ eye surgeries, ensuring excellent expertise. Clinics such as DERDA SAGLIK HIZMETLERI hold multiple certifications, including Joint Commission International (JCI), showing high patient safety and care quality. The use of topical anaesthetics is standard, making the procedure comfortable for patients.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Turkey report vitreolysis as mostly painless with just minor discomfort during the laser treatment. Most found the numbing drops effective, and treatment felt quick and manageable.
