How Much Does Laparoscopic nephrectomy Cost in Turkey in AUD?

Laparoscopic nephrectomy in Turkey typically costs from AUD $18,492 to AUD $20,225. It was the right choice
What worried me most was the uncertainty and what the treatment plan would be. But my fears were put to rest after the very first consultation. The doctor was very attentive and explained everything in detail and calmly, which immediately put me at ease. I really appreciate that approach. All the staff at the clinic were responsive and supportive at every stage. The clinic itself made a good impression; everything is well organised. I am currently in the recovery phase and feel much calmer, having a clear understanding of the next steps. It was the right choice.

The surgeon was excellent
What surprised me most about my basalioma treatment wasn't the procedure itself, but the detailed skin examination I received. The surgeon was excellent. He made sure all removal options were discussed clearly, which was reassuring since I already had my diagnosis before arriving. Right now, the treated area is healing very well. While the medical care was superb and the clinic facilities are great, the administrative staff seemed a bit disorganized, which was the only downside. Despite that, based on the surgeon’s work, it’s a place I would suggest to others.
My Bookimed coordinator was highly skilled, had the passion and patience for her work and that translated to the numerous array of options provided to me to choose from based on my budget during the entire process. She interacted with me 24/7 just for us to have solution within my schedule. All information (proforma, visa assistance, travel guidance and estimated personal expenses) for the entire treatment were on point and I encourage all manner of persons seeking medical treatment abroad to choose Bookimed as their medical tourism partner.
1. Interpreter only come when the patient calls for his services and that is only during the day. If the interpreter can also support beyond the interactions with the specialist. 2. Airport and Internal movement are left to the patient to handle which can sometimes be a major challenge for some category of patients and given the language barrier. 3. Hospital discharges are very strict even if you the patient feels he/she need additional day(s) to be fit for a return to the hotel to continue the recovery.

The doctor and all the staff have been very attentive and professional, which gives me confidence that I made the right choice of clinic and treatment process
My main concern before starting treatment was how my body would react to the drug. I’m undergoing a course of Keytruda immunotherapy for kidney cancer, receiving an infusion every three weeks. Yes, I have experienced some side effects. These are mainly digestive issues, and I feel a little more tired. Of course, I am still concerned that these might get worse over time. But I must say that the doctor and all the staff have been very attentive and professional, which gives me confidence that I made the right choice of clinic and treatment process.

When friends ask if I would suggest this clinic to them, my answer is a 10
My biggest worry was finding a surgeon and team I could completely trust for this personal procedure. That concern disappeared quickly. From the first consultation, the surgeon was professional and the staff were consistently kind, which made the whole process feel secure and well-managed. I'm still in the early stages of healing, but the level of care has been excellent. Everything was clear. When friends ask if I would suggest this clinic to them, my answer is a 10. The support has been fantastic.
Coordinator stayed in touch .The clinic exceeded expectations.I wanted to thank Dr. Baris Nuhoglu and his assistant, who took impeccable care of me. They listened to me and resolved a problem that was very serious and causing me discomfort. On May 19th, they gave me a new birth with professionalism, seriousness, and empathy.I have e big gratitude and deep respect to Dr. Baris and his team, and I wish to return in a few months for a check-up and, who knows, maybe for another new treatment.😁😉👍

The surgeon and all the staff at the clinic were highly professional and competent throughout my experience
My biggest concern before the operation was the recovery period, but now, 15 days after the prosthetic testicle implant surgery, I can say that things are going as expected. I received a small prosthesis measuring 3.5 cm; although I’m not sure of the brand, I’m satisfied with it. The surgeon and all the staff at the clinic were highly professional and competent throughout my experience. Everything went well. The recovery period is going well and without any problems so far.
The service was excellent, and the check-in and check-out were a real treat
No, I'm happy with the service and the performance

Thank Allah that we met him and he did a good surgery
Many thanks to Dr Bora Basharan and Alisher Durdiev! Diagnosis: carcinoma on the tongue. Alisher was very helpful with the choice and full support during the treatment. He gave us confidence in choosing Dr Bora Basharan by telling us about his professionalism and humanity. The most important thing for Alisher was the patient's health and to organise the diagnosis/surgery so that the patient gets the best results. We are very happy about this. We could not decide on the treatment (we were waiting for answers from South Korea) and Alisher did not give up to provide us with doctor's answers, answer our many questions and help with organisation. His ability to speak excellent Russian helped a lot in communication. The first meeting organised by Alisher went well. The doctor explained everything about the surgery and gave us peace of mind due to his experience as a highly specialised ENT surgeon in oncology. The operation went well and the follow up health checks. The recovery is good. We read many positive reviews online about Dr Bor Basharan which gave us more confidence. The reviews are true. After the surgery we were given a room with excellent food and the recovery was good. Thank Allah that we met Alisher and Dr Bora Basharan, for his golden hands, good surgery and organisation. Thank you very much again! Good health to all!

Honestly, I'm in awe from this experience
The hospital was fantastic, room was private, with all required amenities, cafe - lovely, everything was beautiful and clean. Staff were just so accommodating, my Doctor was knowledgeable, explained the procedure in detail. Honestly, I'm in awe from this experience. And even though I was coming in with a slight fear and a tiny panic attack, there was really no need to worry, everything is on a highest level! Thanks to all!
Translators were top notch! Everything was amazing, I can't select just one thing.
Had issue with payment, it kept getting rejected and due to this I wasn't admitted right away. But once payment went through, all services followed smoothly.

I felt like we had VIP treatment
My care was very good from start to finish. As soon as I arrived at the hospital, I was greeted by my interpreter and team. They were very friendly, put me at ease and explained what would happen and when. I had checks done and blood taken etc and met the consultant. He was absolutely lovely and again explained the whole procedure. I also met with the Anaesthetist. My procedure was completed and the care was fantastic from all the staff involved. The room and hospital were great. I felt like we had VIP treatment. The Hotel was also nice and everything runs like clockwork. Thanks to all the team but, especially to Ishmeal, Senna and Doctor Ozturk.

But I really liked the Bukimed service - they helped, supported, organised everything in the best possible way
There are certain issues with the hospital, in particular, the staff who are in no hurry and we had to spend the whole day in the hospital instead of a few hours - we waited, waited, and waited again..... But I really liked the Bukimed service - they helped, supported, organised everything in the best possible way. Thank you.
Overall, the hospital is good
Perhaps it's due to a different mentality, but we didn't really like waiting endlessly - no procedure or appointment started on time, no one is in a hurry and no one appreciates other people's time.

Dear readers, if anyone wants to be treated abroad, come specifically to Florence Nightingale and find Prof Ahmet-Tunç Ozdemir and you will not go wrong with your choice
I, Temirbek Ormotoev came from Kyrgyzstan, I chose Florence Nightingale Hospital which was helped by bookimed company and the staff of this company liked me, especially I am happy to deal with Professor Ahmet-Tunch Ozdemir. Today is the 3rd day after the operation performed by Prof Ahmet-Tunç Ozdemir. The operation was done wonderfully, I am satisfied and also the hospital conditions and medical staff were top notch, everyone is polite to the patients, especially the head nurse and nurse Linhai were very good at patient care. Why did I choose Florence Nightingale specifically? Because this hospital is one of the advanced hospitals in Turkey and there is a DaVinci robotised system. I have a neoplasm in my kidney over 30 mm. Prof Ahmet-Tunç Ozdemir performed the operation within 1.5 hours and he has golden hands. Dear readers, if anyone wants to be treated abroad, come specifically to Florence Nightingale and find Prof Ahmet-Tunç Ozdemir and you will not go wrong with your choice. I was discharged on the second day after surgery, I feel great and recovery is underway. In terms of the cost of paying for the surgery, compared to other clinics in Turkey, it is realistic and inexpensive. Mr Ahmet-Tunc Ozdemir, my family and I wish you good health, longevity, good luck in everything and that you stay for a long time saving patients from various diseases, Allah help you. I am also grateful to the medical coordinators of bookimed platform, Liana, who from the very beginning until today accompanies and helps with treatment abroad and assistants named Alisher, translator Aigerim, who know their business professionally. Thank you all who helped me with this situation, Allah bless us all.
Liked Prof Ahmet-Tunç Özdemir, service, medical staff, clinic, overall everything is good.

FAQ about Laparoscopic nephrectomy in Turkey

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

Is laparoscopic nephrectomy in Turkey safer than open surgery?

Laparoscopic nephrectomy in Turkey is safer than open surgery due to smaller incisions, less blood loss, and faster recovery. Leading clinics like Hisar Hospital Intercontinental and Anadolu Medical Center offer minimally invasive and robotic-assisted options with 1-2 day hospital stays and JCI accreditation, ensuring high-quality care.

  • Reduced complications: Laparoscopic approach lowers risks compared to open surgery.
  • Hospital stay: Discharge often occurs within 1-2 days post laparoscopic nephrectomy.
  • Smaller incisions: 0.5–1 cm cuts reduce pain and scarring significantly.
  • Experienced surgeons: Experts like Dr Basri Cakiroglu and Dr Vafi Atalay perform hundreds of these surgeries.
  • JCI-accredited clinics: Hisar Hospital and Anadolu Medical Center ensure international safety standards.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Many top Turkish clinics combine laparoscopic and robotic techniques, offering tailored surgery options. Packages at Hisar Hospital include 4-night stays and companion accommodation, which are good for those wanting extra recovery time. Clinics with JCI accreditation tend to have better patient support and faster discharge pathways.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Turkey praise quicker recovery and less pain with laparoscopic nephrectomy. Most are discharged within 48 hours and find the hospital stay comfortable and well organised. Many note smaller scars and easier return to daily activities after surgery.

What are the potential complications of laparoscopic nephrectomy surgery in Turkey?

Laparoscopic nephrectomy in Turkey is generally safe but carries risks like bleeding, organ injury, infection, and blood clots. Surgeons may rarely need to convert to open surgery. Most leading Turkish hospitals hold Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation, ensuring high safety standards in nephrectomy procedures.

  • Bleeding risk: Possible vascular injury during kidney removal surgery.
  • Organ injury: Laparoscope may damage bowel, liver, or spleen accidentally.
  • Infection risk: Site infections or urinary tract infections may develop.
  • Blood clots: Potential for deep vein thrombosis or pulmonary embolism.
  • Conversion to open surgery: Rare but occurs in about 1% of cases.
  • Hospital care: Packages usually include 4 nights at JCI-accredited Turkish hospitals.
  • Advanced options: Robotic-assisted nephrectomy available with Da Vinci system surgeons.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Most top Turkish centres for nephrectomy, like Hisar Hospital Intercontinental and Anadolu Medical Center, have JCI accreditation and serve thousands annually, keeping complication rates low. Robotic surgery specialists like Dr Ilker Tinay offer minimally invasive options that reduce surgery risks and speed recovery compared to open procedures.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Turkey report effective pain management and smooth recoveries after laparoscopic nephrectomy. Many appreciate VIP transfers and 4-night hospital stays included in packages. Some note protocols exclude NSAIDs, so alternative pain relief is arranged.

What are the indications for undergoing a laparoscopic nephrectomy in Turkey?

Laparoscopic nephrectomy in Turkey is indicated for kidney cancer, non-functioning or damaged kidneys, and benign tumours or cysts. It also treats reflux nephropathy, ureteropelvic junction obstruction, recurrent kidney infections, and is used for kidney removal in living donors. Robotic assistance is common.

  • Kidney cancer: Removal of localised malignant tumours to treat cancer.
  • Non-functioning kidney: Chronic infection, trauma, or severe damage requiring removal.
  • Benign tumours/cysts: Symptomatic cases like large cysts or polycystic kidney disease.
  • Reflux nephropathy: Severe reflux causing infections or kidney damage.
  • Living donor nephrectomy: Minimally invasive kidney removal for donation.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Turkish hospitals like Hisar Hospital and Anadolu Medical Center use both conventional laparoscopic and Da Vinci robotic systems. Clinics include JCI-accredited centres with surgeons experienced in oncology and urology. Most offer 4-day hospital stays and fast recovery, ideal for Australians seeking advanced care.

Patient Consensus: Kidney cancer, pain from damaged kidneys, or trauma prompt surgery in Turkey. Recovery is fast, with walking and showering possible within 24 hours. Patients find pain eased by nerve blocks and simple medicines. Care includes diet adjustments and avoiding heavy lifting post-surgery.

Can laparoscopic nephrectomy in Turkey be performed to remove a donor kidney?

Laparoscopic nephrectomy in Turkey can be performed to remove a donor kidney. This minimally invasive surgery uses small cuts to reduce pain and speed recovery, with open surgery reserved for specific cases. Leading hospitals like Hisar Hospital Intercontinental and Anadolu Medical Center provide this using advanced techniques and general anaesthesia.

  • Techniques: Includes laparoscopic and robotic-assisted nephrectomy.
  • Hospital stay: Typically 3–4 days; some packages offer 4 nights.
  • Hospital quality: JCI-accredited centres such as Memorial Şişli Hospital ensure safety.
  • Surgeon expertise: Doctors use da Vinci robotic systems to reduce recovery time.
  • Donor safety: Open nephrectomy is available if anatomy or kidney size requires it.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Most Turkish clinics offering donor nephrectomy also perform robotic-assisted surgery, which helps reduce donor recovery time and hospital stay. Packages at hospitals like Hisar Hospital Intercontinental include extended hospital stays and companion accommodation, adding comfort for donors from Australia.

Patient Consensus: Patients note recovery can take several months but initial mobility returns quickly. Australian patients are advised to confirm surgeon experience and legal compliance with home transplant rules before surgery in Turkey.

What is the recovery time after a laparoscopic nephrectomy in Turkey?

Recovery after a laparoscopic nephrectomy in Turkey usually takes 4 to 6 weeks for light activities and 2 to 3 months for full healing. Hospital stays are typically 1 to 4 days. Minimally invasive techniques, including robotic surgery, speed up recovery and reduce pain.

  • Hospital stay: Usually 1 to 4 days depending on the hospital package.
  • Light activities: Often resumed within 4 to 6 weeks post-surgery.
  • Full recovery: Internal healing typically completes in 2 to 3 months.
  • Early walking: Patients often start short walks within one week after surgery.
  • Activity limits: Avoid heavy lifting over 4.5 kg for 4 to 6 weeks.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Turkey’s top nephrectomy centres like Hisar Hospital and Anadolu Medical Center offer hospital stays of 3–4 nights. Patients often recover faster when surgeons combine laparoscopy with robotic assistance, as seen with Dr Ilker Tinay at Anadolu Medical Center.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Turkey describe quick hospital discharge, usually in a few days. Many felt able to walk and resume gentle activities within 4 to 6 weeks. Most noticed discomfort eased quickly and full recovery took about 2 to 3 months, matching surgeon advice.
