Patients save approximately 75% compared to Australia, where the average price reaches AUD $8,054. Standard Turkish clinic packages often include skin analysis, local anaesthetic, and follow-up care in hubs like Istanbul and Antalya.

  • Dermabrasion for acne scars: AUD $1,151 to AUD $2,157 for resurfacing deep skin pitting.
  • Microdermabrasion: AUD $288 to AUD $575 for a lighter, non-invasive exfoliation approach.

Prof. Dr. Furkan Karabekmez, who has extensive experience with Australian clients, performs procedures in hospitals meeting international standards. This ensures you receive specialist care while still maintaining the significant savings found in the Turkish market.

My surgeon was great; he was honest about what results were realistic for my body and clearly explained all the risks, which gave me confidence
If you're thinking about this, my main piece of advice is to be mentally ready for the procedure, as it can be overwhelming. I’m in early recovery from my breast reduction and lift, and I am feeling better than expected. My surgeon was great; he was honest about what results were realistic for my body and clearly explained all the risks, which gave me confidence. The clinic team was easy to reach and stayed in touch. Do be aware of some additional expenses – I had a prescription that cost extra at the pharmacy. A few practical tips: bring a spare compression garment, cotton t-shirts to wear underneath it, and your own snacks. Also, having my mum with me has been pivotal to my recovery, so I'd suggest bringing a companion if you can.
The co-ordinator at Bookimed, Winnington was brilliant. No matter how many questions I had he was able to answer them promptly and with one small hiccup from the hospital Winnington went out of his way to try and package a new procedure for me. My co-ordinator Eyyub at Optimed hospital was outstanding. The hospital was great, the staff on my floor were fantastic. We used goggle translate when the co-ordinator wasn’t with us if we came up against a language barrier but that was not very often. I was cared for before and after my surgery by the nursing staff who could not do enough for myself and my mum. I 10000000% recommend Bookimed & Optimed hospital
Post op instructions could be better. I have suggested to them to put together a general guide of what to do and not to do and for however long. What’s normal and if something doesn’t feel right who to contact etc. I think this will greatly help international patients and help the hospital co-ordinators from being hounded with a load of questions from several patients all at once. Peace of mind for the patient and a little more support for the co-ordinator. The food is catered for Turkish patients and can be hard for international patients to eat. Again, I have suggested to them to try having a small box of fibrous cereal available at breakfast time and instead of a full meal at lunch time something simple like sandwiches or rolls/bagels/baked goods. Dinner was usually ok and we were able to eat most of that but our daytime diet is a little less than they were providing and there was a lot of food waste which they could minimise & use the money elsewhere if there was a cater to international patients diets.

The single positive aspect of this entire process was the staff. They were wonderful. Unfortunately, my experience with the surgeon and the clinic itself was profoundly disappointing, and I'm very concerned with how my otoplasty recovery is going so far. The gap between the supportive staff and the actual medical treatment I received is hard to understand. The facility did not meet my expectations for a medical setting in any capacity. Based on this, I would absolutely not recommend this clinic to anyone considering a similar procedure.
Do not go with bookimed.com. I didn’t liked from the moment when I arrived to airport anyone wasn’t there to pick me up, you know when you arrive any place you have no internet and you can’t make any phone calls or text so night mares already start.

The surgeon and the clinic itself were excellent
The possibility of breathing issues was my primary concern going into this. And honestly, that has been the biggest challenge in recovery so far, with one nostril constantly feeling stuffed. My surgeon performed a closed rhinoplasty. Everything is still very swollen along the bridge, but I can already see that my nose tip appears more refined, which is a great sign. The surgeon and the clinic itself were excellent. The general staff were great, though post-op instructions could have been a bit more explicit. I'm satisfied with the medical care I received so far
Dr. Erol is an amazing doctor, his work was amazing he truly listened to my request and expectations and he was really patient and reassuring. The medical assistance team as well, they really took good care of me, they were present when i needed them.
post-op instructions could’ve been explained better

I felt in such safe hands throughout and would recommend my surgeon Dr Yunus Emre Seker and his team to anyone
I loved the coordinator / interpreter. Totally made me feel at ease and comfortable in what I would only describe as an anxious situation especially with the language barrier and the unknown of where you are going. The surgeon himself was wonderful and even had a coffee with me before hand which made me feel completely at ease. I felt in such safe hands throughout and would recommend my surgeon Dr Yunus Emre Seker and his team to anyone. Thank-you so much :)

The lift in my jowls is already a dramatic improvement
My biggest worry was how the final result would look, and whether it would be worth the recovery. Even though I’m still quite puffy around my jawline, the lift in my jowls is already a dramatic improvement. That part is a huge relief. The staff and clinic environment were excellent from start to finish. Turning my head feels slightly tight but okay. The surgeon did good work, though I rated them a 4/5 as I felt some communication could have been a bit more compassionate after surgery. The most challenging part has absolutely been sleeping elevated. That's no fun. I would still recommend this clinic.
The Bookined coordinator and the Quartz Clinic staff were fantastic: supportive, helpful, compassionate. All updates were communicated to me promptly. The hotel booked for me is really excellent, with smooth transfers and kind drivers. Spot on!
I didn't give the doctor 5 stars because she made me cry the day after surgery. She could adopt a different approach towards me after surgery, with more understanding and compassion, especially since I was there on my own and at the end of the day, she's received all the information required, it doesn't matter from whom. The stress has a significant impact on me. Aside from that, she was great.

The moment I saw the result, even with the initial swelling, I could tell the shape was exactly what I wanted
The moment I saw the result, even with the initial swelling, I could tell the shape was exactly what I wanted. It’s a great feeling. My goal was a more defined tip, and that's precisely what the surgeon delivered using an open approach. The whole process was smooth, and the staff were genuinely caring. The most difficult part of recovery so far is just having to sleep upright, which is temporary. A huge bonus is that I am breathing perfectly through my nose already. I am so grateful for the surgeon's skill and the clear communication from the team.

the care provided by the surgeon and all the staff was impeccable
If you’re thinking about arm liposuction, I’d advise you to prepare for the recovery. My surgeon used the VASER ultrasound technique and, although it’s still early days, my compression sleeves are already too loose. My mobility is limited; my biggest difficulty right now is reaching for things above my head. It’s also important to be patient with the results, because when I look in the mirror today, I can see that one arm looks different from the other, and I’m confident that will even out over time. Despite these minor aspects of the process, the care provided by the surgeon and all the staff was impeccable. I would recommend the clinic.

The surgeon and staff were brilliant and supportive throughout
My biggest worry was ending up with an unnatural shape, but the surgeon’s approach and clear communication completely put me at ease. Right now, things still look a little patchy as about half the transplanted hairs have fallen out, which I was told to expect during this early stage of healing. It’s a process. The biggest challenge has honestly been a personal one: just remembering to avoid touching them! The surgeon and staff were brilliant and supportive throughout. While the clinic facilities were fine, the personal care from the team made all the difference. I'm very satisfied with my choice.

The surgeon did an excellent job – the incisions were made using the traditional method and are now hidden in the natural folds of the skin
I was worried that the scars from the upper and lower eyelid surgery would be noticeable. Fortunately, the surgeon did an excellent job – the incisions were made using the traditional method and are now hidden in the natural folds of the skin. I have no complaints about him whatsoever. However, the overall impression was greatly marred by the clinic itself, where the conditions were unsatisfactory. Recovery is still ongoing. My eyes are still swollen, and I’ve noticed that when I smile, one side looks slightly different. I hope this will pass. The main advice I would give to anyone considering this procedure is to prepare thoroughly for the period before and after the operation.

We will be going back for other treatment and truly can’t recommend them enough
Sitting in the clinic in Antalya, the surgeon explained how the laser-assisted technique for my upper eyelids would function during the procedure. The whole service was smooth and we had a fantastic time throughout our stay. The aftercare was good. I was thrilled with how my eyes looked at 12 days, although at day 15 my biggest challenge is that they are still puffy. My eyes look natural and smooth when I smile. It is a process. We will be going back for other treatment and truly can’t recommend them enough. If you are considering eyelid surgery, ensure you have a few weeks to let the initial swelling settle.

I now feel better than I expected
What I remember most about the whole process was the doctor’s approach. Before the operation, he personally marked the incision lines on my upper eyelids and honestly explained what I could realistically expect from the result. The procedure was carried out under general anaesthetic, and I now feel better than I expected. It was a great help that the doctor personally checked on me after the operation, and the clinic provided clear aftercare instructions. There were no additional costs. The only advice I would give to future patients is to make sure you confirm the exact date and time of the operation in advance.

I breath perfectly now after surgery and my nose is a lot straighter
I felt very secure and taken care of through the entire experience. All of my inquiries were answered very promptly by both the bookiemed coordinator, the assistant, and my doctor (Dr. C Altindąg), is very experienced and talked me through what to expect and analyzed my nose very thoroughly. I breath perfectly now after surgery and my nose is a lot straighter (I had a severe deviated septum and other complications from a past surgery that he identified and corrected including a mirgrated graft and a droopy tip). I'm still quite swollen but look forward to seeing final results in a few months.

But the calmness and poise of the doctor and his team completely dispelled my doubts
I liked everything overall. Initially, I was very afraid, starting with the flight to another country, the transfer to the hotel and the operation itself. But the calmness and poise of the doctor and his team completely dispelled my doubts. 5 hours after the operation I returned to the hotel. Which is also very good because the hospital ward is the worst for me. Exactly after a week I took off the splint, my nose was still swollen. The nose is proportional to my face. When the swelling goes down it will be smaller

My surgeon was excellent
My biggest concern before the trip was unexpected additional costs, and unfortunately that concern proved to be justified. My additional costs for two lymphatic drainage sessions, an anti-thrombosis injection for the return flight and meals at the hotel amounted to €450. My advice to future patients is therefore: you should definitely clarify any additional costs that may arise. Apart from that, my surgeon was excellent. He marked the areas very carefully before the operation, which put me at ease. Over 4 litres of fat were removed during the Vaser liposuction, and my recovery has so far gone as expected. The clinic provided me with good support afterwards, was always available and gave me clear aftercare guidelines. If your language skills are not sufficient, you should definitely ask for an interpreter.
So, in the end, the whole package was just right. The coordinator was always on hand for me, organised everything she could and also cleared up any uncertainties. She was absolutely brilliant. The doctor was very friendly, but always rather curt. Because of the language barrier, it wasn’t that easy to sort out many things straight away. That usually only happened afterwards in the coordinator’s WhatsApp group. The transfer and the hotel we’d chosen were also great, and above all, everyone was friendly. The clinic was OK. The rooms didn’t feel as sterile as they do in Germany, but the medical care was very good. Even with the language barrier, the nursing staff always made an effort to chat with you. It was a good thing I had Google Translate.
I was promised a detailed preliminary consultation, but this did not take place. An interpreter on site would have been very helpful. I would recommend a longer stay of at least 10 days. My journey home was anything but pleasant. The wound drains were removed on the day of departure, even though there was still too much wound fluid being produced. On arriving in Germany, I went straight to A&E to rule out any more serious complications.

What gave me the most confidence was my surgeon sitting down with me to draw the incision lines right before the procedure
What gave me the most confidence was my surgeon sitting down with me to draw the incision lines right before the procedure. She was very honest about what results would be realistic for my age and even checked on me personally after I woke up from the general anesthesia. The procedure covered my full face and neck, and while it's still too early to tell what the final outcome will be, the support has been good. The staff are always easy to reach. I also appreciated that there were no additional expenses. My main advice would be to arrive a day before your operation for the consultation with your doctor, and make sure to tell them what you eat.
Everything went excellently with the coordinator. The staff were helpful and knowledgeable. Dr Paysal, who was my surgeon, was kind and knowledgeable.
The staff's English could have been better. The food served was the same for lunch and dinner for two days — chicken and rice. I told them I was vegetarian, but was still served chicken and rice for lunch and dinner.

FAQ about Dermabrasion in Turkey

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

Is getting dermabrasion in Turkey safe for Australian patients?

Getting dermabrasion in Turkey is safe for Australian patients when performed by board-certified specialists in JCI-accredited clinics. Clinics in Istanbul and Ankara offer both surgical and non-surgical dermabrasion with experienced surgeons familiar with international standards and patient follow-up.

  • JCI accreditation: Facilities like Lokman Hekim Istanbul Hospital have JCI quality and safety certification.
  • Experienced surgeons: Professor Furkan Erol Karabekmez works in Ankara, treating Australian patients with personalised care.
  • Surgical and non-surgical options: Clinics offer microdermabrasion, diamond dermabrasion, hydrafacial, and traditional dermabrasion.
  • Follow-up care: Turkish specialists provide post-op plans and some offer online consultations for Australians.
  • Pain management: Clinics typically use prescription-strength numbing agents or sedation to reduce procedure pain.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Turkish clinics accredited by JCI and ISO handle thousands of international patients yearly. Specialists like Professor Karabekmez combine international training and direct experience with Australians, improving safety and results. Online pre-travel consultations help plan personalised treatment and confirm suitability.

Patient Consensus: Australians report positive outcomes from dermabrasion in Turkey with skilled surgeons. Many highlight thorough skin assessments and effective pain control as key to a comfortable procedure.

What is the recovery process like after dermabrasion in Turkey?

The recovery after dermabrasion in Turkey involves 3–5 days of visible redness and sensitivity like mild sunburn. Micro-swelling lasts up to two weeks. Residual redness can remain for weeks or months. Strict sun protection and intensive moisturising support healing and reduce risks.

  • Visible redness and sensitivity: lasts 3–5 days post-procedure.
  • Micro-swelling: commonly lasts several days to two weeks.
  • Itchiness: common, so avoid scratching to protect healing skin.
  • Sun protection: high SPF and hats recommended for 2–4 weeks.
  • Moisturising: frequent use of creams and cold compresses aids recovery.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Clinics in Istanbul like Quartz Hospital and Memorial Şişli Hospital hold JCI accreditation, ensuring effective post-care. Experienced surgeons recommend clear aftercare instructions for international patients, helping minimise swelling and skin issues. Expect 1–2 weeks in Turkey to complete initial healing and follow-ups.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Turkey say skin feels sunburnt and swollen during the first few days but moisturising and avoiding sun helped fast recovery. Many highlight the importance of clear aftercare guidelines from doctors to manage itching and redness.

Which skin conditions can dermabrasion in Turkey effectively treat?

Dermabrasion in Turkey effectively treats deep acne scars, surgical scars, fine lines, sun damage, age spots, and uneven skin texture. It can also address rhinophyma and precancerous skin patches. Clinics offer surgical and non-surgical dermabrasion types for lasting skin improvements.

  • Acne scars: reduces deep, pitted scars with surgical dermabrasion.
  • Surgical scars: smooths and flattens old injury or surgery marks.
  • Sun damage: improves leathery skin texture caused by UV exposure.
  • Age spots: lessens visible brown hyperpigmentation areas.
  • Other issues: treats wrinkles, rhinophyma, tattoo fading, and precancerous patches.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Turkish clinics like Quartz Hospital offer mechanical and diamond dermabrasion with surgeons certified by ISAPS, providing expert care. Many combine dermabrasion with chemical peels or subcision for better results on acne scars. Turkish JCI-accredited hospitals provide safe skin treatments with modern standards, appealing to Australian patients.

Patient Consensus: Australian patients note dermabrasion often forms part of combined facial treatments in Turkey. Many prefer CO2 laser or chemical peels for scars and pigmentation. Patients advise verifying the procedure’s role—main treatment or minor step—before booking.

Why is Turkey a popular destination for dermabrasion among Australians?

Turkey is popular for dermabrasion among Australians due to affordable prices, expert plastic surgeons, and JCI-accredited clinics in Istanbul. The country offers multiple dermabrasion techniques, all with high-quality care and efficient services tailored for international patients.

  • Cost savings: Dermabrasion costs range from $900 to $2,000 AUD.
  • Clinics: Memorial Şişli Hospital and Lokman Hekim Istanbul Hospital hold Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation.
  • Surgeon expertise: Prof. Dr Furkan Karabekmez has experience with Australian patients and online follow-up support.
  • Techniques: Options include mechanical, diamond, micro, hydro, and hydrafacial dermabrasion for different skin needs.
  • Patient volume: Turkey serves over 15,000 dermabrasion requests globally, with many clinics experienced in skin treatments.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Many Turkish clinics combine affordability with JCI accreditation, attracting Australians seeking safe, expert dermabrasion. Surgeons like Prof. Dr Furkan Karabekmez offer thorough online consultations and postoperative care, making Turkey particularly suited for Australians wanting continuity of care abroad.

Patient Consensus: Australians say dermabrasion in Turkey is cost-effective but stress checking the exact procedure and surgeon credentials. Many recommend confirming post-treatment care and consulting local GPs first, ensuring the treatment matches their skin condition before travelling.

What is the difference between dermabrasion and microdermabrasion in Turkey?

Dermabrasion in Turkey is a deep surgical procedure requiring anaesthesia and significant recovery. Microdermabrasion is a non-invasive exfoliation affecting only the skin surface, with no downtime, ideal for mild skin improvements. Dermabrasion treats deep scars and wrinkles, while microdermabrasion refreshes superficial skin.

  • Depth difference: Dermabrasion removes multiple skin layers; microdermabrasion treats the outer layer only.
  • Anaesthesia: Dermabrasion requires local or general anaesthetic; microdermabrasion requires none.
  • Recovery: Dermabrasion needs 1–2 weeks of downtime; microdermabrasion allows immediate return to activities.
  • Setting: Dermabrasion is performed in clinics or hospitals; microdermabrasion is common in beauty salons or clinics.
  • Results: Dermabrasion provides permanent, dramatic improvement; microdermabrasion gives temporary, subtle skin renewal.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Most Turkish dermabrasion patients visit Istanbul clinics accredited by Joint Commission International (JCI), ensuring strict safety standards. While classic manual dermabrasion is rare, many clinics prefer CO2 laser or phenol chemical peels for deep resurfacing, offering similar results with controlled recovery. Microdermabrasion sessions are shorter and widely available in salons, making it a popular choice for quick skin freshening.

Patient Consensus: Patients highlight that dermabrasion in Turkey treats deep scars effectively but needs several weeks to heal. Microdermabrasion is praised for being quick and painless with no downtime. Australian patients appreciate clear explanations distinguishing these two very different procedures before booking treatment.
