"The prescription was prescribed to me for a pretty simple medicine
Before visiting the hospital, we were treated in our hospital for inflammation of the prostate in turn for three not bad ones according to the recommendations of specialists. Everyone made different diagnoses and each assigned their own treatment. The result is zero, Minus considerable money spent and health. During these 1.5 months of treatment, the disease progressed much further. Of course, the examination, the qualifications of doctors in the hospital are no comparison with ours. The prescription was prescribed to me for a pretty simple medicine. God grant that helps ...

We flew in for a consultation with a urologist, Mr. Murat Savage, we really liked the attitude towards patients! The doctor prescribed the necessary tests and treatment! We were very satisfied from the beginning, from the period of negotiations with the clinic, to the appointment of treatment! Thank you very much for your help !

We have lots of good people around
Everything was okay, in general hospital was good, the doctor is professional, we have lots of good people around but there is a big problem that the guy who speaks English and could help us to translate everything was the only one, that is why it was hard for him to give us as much time as we need, so I think you have to have more English translators in such huge hospital.

Expert Overview about Prostatitis Treatment in Turkey

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

Is chronic prostatitis fully curable through treatment in Turkey?

Chronic prostatitis treatment in Turkey focuses on symptom management and targeted therapy rather than a guaranteed cure. Clinics use the Istanbul Protocol. This combines prostate massage, heat, and vibration to clear infected fluid. Specialised urologists report significant relief for bacterial cases. However, long-term management is often necessary.

  • Intensive protocols: The Istanbul Protocol uses heat and vibration over 5–8 days.
  • Diagnostic accuracy: Turkish centres use transrectal ultrasound and PSA tests to stage conditions.
  • Symptom focus: Treatment aims to reduce pain and improve urinary flow for patients.
  • Expert care: Specialists like Dr Murat Binbay have performed 600+ robotic urological surgeries.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Turkish urology centres often outperform general hospitals by using thorough diagnostics. This helps separate bacterial infections from chronic pain. Clinics like Men's Health Clinics provide 10-day recovery packages. These allow for the extended prostate massage sessions required to clear stubborn infections.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Turkey find the diagnostics far more thorough than previous attempts elsewhere. They note that success often means fewer flares and managed pain. Confirming a bacterial cause first is essential for satisfaction with the results.

What documentation should I prepare before travelling to Turkey for prostatitis treatment?

Patients should prepare a medical file with diagnostic scans, pathology reports, and a medication history. A valid passport and medical visa are required for entry. A letter from a local GP simplifies the admission process at Turkish hospitals.

  • Medical imaging: Bring recent ultrasounds, MRIs, or CT scans on a digital drive.
  • Pathology records: Include urine cultures, semen tests, and prostate-specific antigen (PSA) results.
  • Medication list: Document all prior antibiotics, dosages, durations, and any known drug allergies.
  • Travel documents: Ensure your passport has 6 months validity and carry travel insurance details.
  • Symptom diary: Note onset dates, pain triggers, and urinary changes to help urologists.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Clinics like Anadolu Medical Center or Group Florence Nightingale provide JCI-accredited safety standards. Packages here often bundle language assistance and local transfers. Patients report that a dedicated translator significantly improves clinical consultations during complex prostatitis work-ups.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Turkey emphasise bringing printed English copies of every past test result. A single folder with all infection details prevents repeating expensive diagnostics. This also helps doctors quickly identify which antibiotics have already failed.

Are urologists in Turkey proficient in English when treating international patients?

Leading urologists in Turkey speak English well. Many hold international certifications like the European Board of Urology (FEBU). Specialists such as Dr Tansu Turgut and Dr Ihsan Karaman are fluent. Private hospitals also include dedicated interpreters in their care packages for clear communication.

  • International training: Specialists like Dr Ahmet Cag Cal trained at the Mayo Clinic and UCLA.
  • Board certifications: Many urologists hold European Board of Urology (FEBU) credentials for global standards.
  • Language assistance: Anadolu Medical Center and others include professional interpreters in treatment packages.
  • Australia-specific care: Men's Health Clinics explicitly list Australia as a primary country they serve.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While top surgeons are fluent, our data shows clinics build in extra support. Men's Health Clinics and Anadolu Medical Center provide 24-hour nursing and coordinators. This keeps technical medical details clear during the 4-day hospital stays typical for robotic procedures.

Patient Consensus: Patients at Memorial Antalya Hospital and Anadolu Medical Center find doctors professional. Even so, they note that a dedicated translator helps during long appointments. They recommend bringing written notes of symptoms to help staff coordinate care across different departments.
