- In general, I really liked the clinic
In general, I really liked the clinic, the coordination is good. Conveniently, what you met at the airport. However, what the doctor advised after the consultation does not help. I am planning a second consultation.

Expert Overview about Hemorrhoids Treatment in Turkey

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

Is laser treatment for haemorrhoids safe and effective in Turkey?

Laser treatment for haemorrhoids in Turkey is a safe and proven alternative to traditional surgery. Specialist surgeons use laser energy to shrink swollen tissue without invasive cutting. This approach minimises pain. It allows most patients to return to activities within a few days.

  • Expert specialists: Assoc. Prof. Dr Abdulcabbar Kartal at Anadolu Medical Center holds European Coloproctology certification.
  • High volume: Leading surgeons like Dr Yasir Gozu perform over 1,700 haemorrhoid cases annually.
  • Accredited facilities: Major centres like Memorial Şişli Hospital hold JCI accreditation for safety standards.
  • Specialised techniques: Clinics offer laser therapy, Longo stapling, and Transanal Haemorrhoidal Dearterialization (THD).

Bookimed Expert Insight: While laser therapy is popular, Turkish centres often combine it with other outpatient methods. For example, Avrupa Cerrahi Proctology Center offers a 5-minute rubber band ligation alongside laser options. This flexibility allows specialists to treat multiple haemorrhoid grades effectively in one visit.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Turkey report quick recovery and mention the procedure is often painless. Several noted the convenience of walk-in treatments. They also praised staff who use translation tools to explain medical details.

What is the likelihood of haemorrhoids returning after treatment in Turkey?

Turkish clinics report a high 90% initial success rate for haemorrhoid procedures. Recurrence typically ranges from 15% to 25% within two years. Long-term success reaches 95% with traditional surgical dearterialisation. Specialist experience and lifestyle management significantly influence these durable outcomes for patients.

  • Procedure impact: Surgical removal offers 95% long-term success compared to 50% for ligation.
  • Specialist volume: Doctors such as Dr Yasir Gozu perform over 1,700 annual proctology cases.
  • Modern technology: Centres use THD and laser therapy to reduce tissue trauma and recurrence.
  • Accreditation standards: Major facilities like Anadolu Medical Center maintain JCI accreditation for surgical safety.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data shows specialised proctology centres, like Avrupa Cerrahi, focus on high-volume laser and ligation. These outpatient methods are less invasive but may require repeat sessions. For complex cases, choosing a multidisciplinary hospital like Memorial Sisli provides access to robotic surgical systems.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Turkey describe feeling relief after years of suffering. They often mention that professional care and comfortable, hotel-like rooms make recovery easier to manage.

What is the typical recovery timeline after haemorrhoid treatment in Turkey?

Recovery after haemorrhoid treatment in Turkey varies by procedure. Laser therapy and rubber band ligation allow patients to resume light activities within 1–3 days. Surgical methods like HAL-RAR or open excision typically require 2–4 weeks for a full recovery.

  • Laser recovery: Patients often return to work within 48 hours after laser therapy.
  • Surgical healing: Traditional surgery may require 3–4 weeks for the surgical site to heal fully.
  • Activity restrictions: Surgeons recommend avoiding heavy lifting or strenuous exercise for at least 2 weeks.
  • Bowel management: High-fibre diets and softeners are essential during the first 7 days after surgery.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Proctologists like Dr Yasir Gozu at Avrupa Cerrahi Proctology Center perform over 1,700 cases annually. This high volume allows clinics to offer five-minute walk-in procedures. Patients should still plan for 1–2 nights in a hotel before flying home to Australia.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Turkey highlight that combining procedures, like vaginoplasty with haemorrhoid removal, is possible. They often note the comfort of clinics. Most stress the importance of using stool softeners to manage the first bowel movement.

What are the recommended surgical methods for haemorrhoid treatment in Turkey?

Surgical methods for haemorrhoid treatment in Turkey include laser therapy, rubber band ligation, and Doppler-guided artery ligation (THD). Specialists also perform stapled haemorrhoidopexy and conventional haemorrhoidectomy for severe cases. JCI-accredited hospitals in Istanbul and Antalya provide these procedures using minimally invasive techniques.

  • Laser therapy: Minimally invasive approach using a 1470nm diode laser to shrink tissue.
  • Rubber band ligation: Non-surgical 5-minute treatment available at proctology centres like Avrupa Cerrahi.
  • THD ligation: Doppler-guided method used by specialists like Dr Vahit Mutlu at Memorial.
  • Excisional surgery: The gold standard for complex cases for definitive removal.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Turkish proctology centres offer high levels of specialisation. For instance, Dr Yasir Gozu performs over 1,700 cases each year. This high volume allows clinics to offer walk-in, walk-out treatments. Rubber band ligation costs approximately A$5,000. These specialised centres often deliver more focused care than general surgical departments.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Turkey report that recovery is faster with laser methods. However, choosing the right procedure for the specific haemorrhoid grade is vital. Patients often highlight that hotel-like hospital rooms and helpful translators make the surgery less stressful.

How long should I plan to stay in Turkey for haemorrhoid treatment?

Most patients spend 2 to 7 days in Turkey for haemorrhoid treatment. Minimally invasive methods like laser therapy often allow same-day discharge. Complex surgeries like Transanal Haemorrhoidal Dearterialization (THD) take 4 to 5 days for safe travel. This time helps manage recovery before your return flight.

  • Laser therapy stay: Recovery typically takes 1 to 2 days before flying home.
  • Rubber band ligation: This 5-minute walk-in treatment usually requires only 2 days in Turkey.
  • THD procedure stay: Plan for 4 to 7 days to monitor initial bowel management.
  • Traditional surgery stay: Conventional haemorrhoidectomy often requires 7 to 14 days for healing.

Bookimed Expert Insight: High-volume proctologists in Istanbul, like Dr Yasir Gozu, perform over 1,700 cases annually. He uses rapid laser techniques. Specialised centres often provide same-day discharge for these procedures. Australian patients should book a 3-day buffer to manage post-operative swelling before the long-haul flight.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Turkey report feeling comfortable enough to travel shortly after combined procedures. They note that staying overnight in the clinic helps manage initial discomfort effectively.

Which types of facilities provide haemorrhoid treatment in Turkey?

Australian patients find haemorrhoid treatment in Turkey across multi-specialty hospitals, proctology-focused centres, and university medical hubs. These facilities use JCI-accredited theatres and laser technology. High-volume hospitals in Istanbul and Antalya combine specialist colorectal surgery with private recovery suites.

  • JCI-accredited hospitals: Facilities like Hisar Hospital Intercontinental provide surgical care within large multi-specialty environments.
  • Specialist proctology centres: Avrupa Cerrahi Proctology Center focuses exclusively on anorectal conditions and laser treatments.
  • University hospital hubs: Medipol University Hospital offers academic-backed surgical expertise and medical technology.
  • Multi-disciplinary clinics: Memorial Göztepe Hospital provides access to robotic systems for complex colorectal procedures.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Proctology-focused centres in Istanbul, such as Avrupa Cerrahi, report high volume. Their surgeons perform 1,700+ annual cases. Larger hospitals like Anadolu Medical Center offer extensive multi-specialty support. These specialised clinics also offer streamlined 'walk-in, walk-out' rubber band ligation for approximately A$5,000.

Patient Consensus: Patients note that Turkish private clinics feel like five-star hotels. They also provide attentive nursing care. Those treated in Istanbul and Antalya emphasize that staff manage language barriers. They do this by using translation tools and dedicated interpreters.
