100% recommended
Every aspect was pre-arranged, airport pick-up/drop-off, private cars to appointments. The Dr and his assistant showed a high level of expertise. No staffing issues in the operating theatre or for the follow up care. I was sceptical having arranged this all via whatsapp, but it worked perfectly. 100% recommended.
About Bookimed service
Facilitated the introduction to an excellent surgeon/clinic. Always proactive and responsive. Excellent service. Only thing would be to make people feel at ease that it is all done via whatsapp!

I felt the Dr Cem Altindag and his assistant listened to me well
I did my online consultation over Whatsapp. I discussed how I wanted a similar nose to my original nose, just straighter and for my breathing issues to be solved. I felt the Dr Cem Altindag and his assistant listened to me well.
About Bookimed service
I would recommend Bookimed to people as it is a good and safe way for international patients to connect with surgeons abroad. The whole journey from start to finish ran smoothly. Bookimed consultants have good customer service and response time to client enquiries.

Expert Overview about Deviated septum Treatment in Turkey

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

How do I choose the best clinic or surgeon for deviated septum treatment in Turkey?

To choose the best Turkish clinic for deviated septum treatment, prioritise surgeons with board certifications and 5,000+ procedure milestones. Look for multidisciplinary centres in Istanbul or Ankara holding JCI accreditation. Expert ENT specialists focus on functional breathing improvements using endoscopic techniques and computer-assisted navigation.

  • Surgeon expertise: Dr Cem Altindag at The Nose Clinic has performed 5,000+ successful nasal procedures.
  • Clinical credentials: Prioritise JCI-accredited facilities like Memorial Antalya Hospital or Medipol Mega University Hospital.
  • Functional focus: Specialist surgeons like Prof. Dr Tayfun Apuhan address both airflow and turbinate issues.
  • Patient volume: Successful centres like Hisar Hospital Intercontinental serve over 250,000 international patients annually.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Many search for cosmetic results. However, the best Turkish outcomes come from clinics with ENT-specific departments rather than purely aesthetic centres. Our data shows specialists like Prof. Dr Yavuz Selim Yildirim hold European Board Fellowships (FEBORL-HNS). This qualification guarantees a focus on complex airway function. High-volume hospitals also provide on-site CT imaging for paranasal sinuses. This is essential for precise septal diagnosis before surgery.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Turkey highlight the convenience of pre-arranged private cars. They also find WhatsApp consultations effective for discussing breathing goals. They emphasise choosing surgeons who listen to functional concerns and provide clear recovery instructions for when they return home.

What is the recovery timeline following deviated septum surgery in Turkey?

Most patients recover from deviated septum surgery in Turkey within 7 to 10 days before flying home. Initial swelling peaks within 3 days. Internal splints are typically removed by day 7. While breathing improves almost immediately, final tissue settling takes 1 to 3 months.

  • Clinic stay: Patients usually spend 1 night in hospital for monitoring and initial recovery.
  • Splint removal: Specialists like Dr Cem Altindag typically remove nasal splints within 5–7 days.
  • Activity levels: Most individuals return to desk work and light activities after 10 days.
  • Exercise resumption: Patients should avoid strenuous sports or heavy lifting for at least 4 weeks.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Turkish centres like Hisar Hospital Intercontinental often use Associate Professors and Professors who have treated over 4,000 cases. This high volume means surgeons are efficient at managing internal tissue trauma. Research shows this experience often leads to less post-operative bruising than the global average.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Turkey report that the first 2–7 days are the most uncomfortable due to congestion and drainage. Many note that breathing becomes much easier when the doctor removes the internal splints around the one-week mark.

What is the difference between a septoplasty and a rhinoplasty procedure in Turkey?

Septoplasty corrects a deviated septum to improve breathing. Rhinoplasty reshapes the external nose for cosmetic reasons. Turkish specialists often combine them into a septorhinoplasty. This single surgery addresses functional blockages and aesthetic concerns under one anaesthetic. Most patients choose this combined approach for efficiency.

  • Primary goal: Septoplasty fixes internal airflow. Rhinoplasty changes external appearance and shape.
  • Structural focus: Septoplasty targets internal cartilage. Rhinoplasty reshapes bones, tip, and skin.
  • Combined approach: Septorhinoplasty treats breathing and aesthetics in one theatre session.
  • Clinic options: JCI-accredited centres like Memorial Şişli Hospital specialise in both procedures.
  • Expert care: Surgeons like Dr Cem Altindag have performed over 5,000 nasal procedures.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Many believe major hospitals are generalists. However, centres like Hisar Hospital Intercontinental house specialised departments. Their ENT team, including Prof. Dr Yavuz Selim Yildirim, holds international fellowships. These specialists use 3 Tesla MRI and digital CT for precise airway mapping. This infrastructure supports complex cases where breathing and aesthetics both need correction.

Patient Consensus: Patients note that Turkish clinics arrange everything from airport pick-ups to follow-up care. Many recommend discussing both breathing and look during initial consultations. Those who booked with Dr Cem Altindag at The Nose Clinic appreciated his work. He preserved their original nose shape while fixing internal issues. In Turkey, coordination via apps like WhatsApp is efficient for international patients.

How long do I need to stay in Turkey for deviated septum treatment?

Patients typically need 7 to 10 days in Turkey for deviated septum treatment. This window allows for pre-op tests, the procedure, and mandatory splint removal. Leading centres like The Nose Clinic require this stay for patient safety and proper healing.

  • Hospital stay: Most patients spend 1 night or have same-day discharge.
  • Splint removal: Specialists usually remove nasal packing or splints between days 5 and 7.
  • Flying home: Surgeons generally clear patients for air travel around 10 days after surgery.
  • Follow-up care: A final check-up occurs on day 7 to 9 to verify airway clearance.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Basic septoplasty is common. However, choosing a multidisciplinary centre like Hisar Hospital Intercontinental provides access to specialists. For example, Prof. Dr. Tayfun Apuhan has performed 4,000+ operations. Top Turkish ENT surgeons often hold European Board (FEBORL-HNS) credentials. This is a quality benchmark for Australian patients accustomed to rigorous specialist standards.

Patient Consensus: Patients note it is essential to stay until the splints are out. They recommend avoiding travel stress during the first 48 hours. Most feel more comfortable flying once the surgeon checks their swelling at the final appointment.

What is included in a typical medical tourism package for deviated septum treatment in Turkey?

Typical Turkish deviated septum packages bundle the surgery, hospital stay, and all local logistics. Most include pre-operative blood tests, general anaesthesia, and surgeon fees. Patients also receive private airport transfers and 3–5 nights in a 4-star hotel near the clinic.

  • Procedure coverage: Includes septoplasty or septorhinoplasty performed by board-certified ENT specialists.
  • Hospitalisation: Packages typically cover 1 overnight stay in a multidisciplinary hospital.
  • Local logistics: Private car transfers between the airport, hotel, and clinic are standard.
  • Patient support: An English-speaking coordinator or interpreter assists during all medical appointments.
  • Post-operative care: Initial follow-up exams and basic medications are generally included.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While many clinics offer general ENT care, some centres specialise in nasal surgery. The Nose Clinic treats 500 patients annually focusing solely on this area. Surgeons like Dr Cem Altindag have performed over 5,000 procedures. Choosing these niche clinics can lead to more predictable functional and aesthetic results.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Turkey value seamless logistics like private cars and coordinated appointments. They emphasise confirming if nasal splint removal fits within the hotel stay duration.
