The surgeon and the entire team at the clinic were great, which put me at ease
My biggest worry was centered on one of the 2-3 fibroids I had. The surgeon and the entire team at the clinic were great, which put me at ease. The procedure itself was smooth. I am now in the early recovery phase and I feel good, though I do tire easily, as is expected. It’s still too early to know what the final results will be, but I am optimistic. I can’t really comment on the price clarity as I wasn't sure about the details. From a medical and care standpoint, everything was handled very professionally by the staff.
The doctor was patient and heard all my needs. He couldnot have done more. Bookmed helped me get the best options. The process was so smooth
Maybe, letting customer know there will be additional cost other than the ones quotated. We paid for so many tests not covered.

Everything was flawless
If you’re considering stem cell rejuvenation, you should be aware that the hardest part comes after the procedure. For me, the biggest challenge was definitely waiting for the results. The procedure itself, which involved using stem cells from my blood plasma, was straightforward. Physically, I actually feel much the same as before, which is probably normal in the early stages of recovery. The surgeon and the entire staff were consistently professional and supportive, so I give full marks for the care and the clinic. Everything was flawless. You just have to be aware that patience is required. I would recommend the clinic.
The treatment went smoothly. The town is lovely for sightseeing afterwards, too.
The clinic’s coordinator isn’t always available, which was sometimes frustrating. It makes you feel insecure. I was scared at first (new city, I didn’t know anyone and I didn’t speak the language either). The Bookimed staff member was always available and replied straight away. She was reliable, which made my stay much easier in the end. Not all the hotels are good. I recommend the Hyatt hotel (it’s expensive, though) and 216 Castel (cheap and in a lovely area). Be careful with taxi drivers in the city. You end up paying more than the journey actually cost.

hopefully we will succeed very much believe in Dr Semre 🙏
To be honest, we found the clinic by searching for the top 10 hospitals in Turkey and chose Memorial, the call centre was very adequate, we were met at the airport by a special clinic transfer car, which was very convenient for us! Then we had a consultation with doctor Semre Kahraman, she explained us the next steps of our operation (IVF) in a very clear language. We are planning to have the operation at the end of November hopefully we will succeed very much believe in Dr Semre 🙏, I forgot to mention the consultation was free which surprised me very pleasantly 😳 as last year I was in Medipole there I paid 220$ for the consultation.
I liked Dr Semre the best.

She was on call 24/7, always answered in detail, politely and with great patience
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to my coordinating doctor Yaroslava from the platform. She was on call 24/7, always answered in detail, politely and with great patience. Yaroslava even enquired about my impressions after my consultation with the doctor, which was very pleasant. Her responsiveness and support helped me to make an important decision. As for the treatment and the doctor, it is too early to give a final assessment, as we are just starting to work. But I can already say that I chose Memorial Ataşehir Clinic and I was satisfied with the staff, the doctor, the interpreter and the clinic itself. I will definitely write a full review of the results later.
A reverent approach of the doctor, no rush, polite, smiling. And my doctor coordinator Yaroslava.

May the peace and mercy of God be with you. As a great program, the people who use it are great. The answer is excellent, but the last time was through MC Hospital Türkiye. The translator is a man named Issa. It is very weak in translation and does not translate. Why is this from the words of the doctor? Because the doctor spoke for a long time, and the translation was short, so there was a lot of things. It does not translate for me, and it did not benefit me at all, and the examination didn't help, doctor

Yes, I liked it overall. But I didn’t like how translators work - there are not enough Russian-speaking translators, you have to wait for them all the time, once I waited 1.5 hours, once without an interpreter I mixed up the medication, I didn’t take the medicine correctly, because I didn’t understand correctly, even if the translator comes to you, will be in a hurry, because they have a lot of work. The clinic in the Bahcelievler district is large, modern, all tests, medicines can be bought on the spot, the staff is polite. I can’t say the result of infertility treatment yet, since I have only gone halfway through IVF, but I hope for a successful result.

Was offered an appointment and was told it would be online and an interpreter would be provided but there was no interpreter. I was told to pay a deposit but then after the appointment which was suppose to last an hour but lasted 20 minutes (and was started late) was concluded the hospital refused to refund me the deposit when I decided not to proceed! Luckily my credit card was able to get the money back for me.
Nothing
Lack of professionalism, lack of empathy and understanding. Changing the times of my appointment and not having an interpreter available despite promising to have an interpreter.

"The doctor was very good, answered all the questions, explained everything
The doctor was very good, answered all the questions, explained everything. The only thing I didn’t like was the wait. At the reception no one spoke English or Russian, I had to wait for an interpreter from another part of the clinic. We were hungry and nervous while waiting, but overall the reception and consultation went well.

FAQ about Reproductology in Turkey

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

Are there any risks to IVF treatment in Turkey?

IVF in Turkey is safe when performed at JCI-accredited hospitals like Memorial Şişli Hospital. Standard medical risks include multiple pregnancies or ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome. Legal regulations restrict treatment to married couples. Turkish law prohibits donor programs and strictly forbids gender selection for non-medical reasons.

  • Legal restrictions: Treatment is only available for married couples using their own genetic material.
  • Specific age limits: Most clinics treat women up to 45–46 years due to own-egg requirements.
  • Successful outcomes: Memorial Ataşehir Hospital reports a 65% success rate across 15,000+ IVF procedures.
  • Accredited facilities: Centres like Anadolu Medical Center maintain JCI and ISO quality standards.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While base costs are low, patients should account for potential cycle shifts. A delayed retrieval or ovulation can extend a stay by several days. Choosing clinics near major hubs helps manage these logistical shifts more effectively. For example, Memorial Bahçelievler Hospital is near Istanbul Airport.

Patient Consensus: Patients note Turkey is excellent for diagnostics like PGD. However, they warn that logistical planning for medication and travel requires patience. Major clinics offer professional staff and free airport transfers. These help reduce the stress of being away from home.

Is IVF legally permitted for all couples in Turkey?

Turkish law restricts IVF access to legally married heterosexual couples using their own eggs and sperm. Single women, unmarried partners, and LGBTQ+ couples cannot legally access these treatments. Surrogacy and all forms of egg, sperm, or embryo donation remain strictly prohibited under national legislation.

  • Marriage requirement: Only legally married heterosexual couples are eligible for IVF in Turkey.
  • Gamete rules: Clinics must only use the couples' own eggs and sperm by law.
  • Donation ban: Egg, sperm, and embryo donations are illegal throughout all Turkish provinces.
  • Gender selection: Determining a baby's sex is only permitted for preventing serious hereditary diseases.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Turkey has strict marriage laws. Still, clinics like Memorial Antalya and Memorial Ataşehir report high success rates for complex cases within these rules. Ataşehir achieves a 65% success rate across 15,000+ procedures. Patients often choose Turkey for genetic screening like PGT. This can be bundled into treatment plans at major centres.

Patient Consensus: Patients are often pleasantly surprised by the clear communication from specialists and the seamless airport transfers. Many note that the legal paperwork for marriage is strict. However, the medical care and professional staff in Istanbul and Antalya feel like family.

What should I ask a fertility clinic in Turkey?

Patients should ask about live birth statistics for their specific age group and diagnosis. They should confirm if the clinic holds JCI or ESHRE accreditation. Turkish fertility centres follow rigorous international standards. Memorial Sisli Hospital and Anadolu Medical Center are two such centres. They should verify if the IVF protocol is doctor-led rather than coordinator-managed.

  • Total costs: Patients should request a breakdown including ICSI and stimulation medication.
  • Success rates: They should ask for live birth data, especially for patients over 40.
  • Embryo storage: They should clarify rules for export and annual maintenance fees.
  • Language support: They should confirm an English-speaking coordinator is available for theatre.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Clinics with high patient volumes from 90+ countries often have specialised labs for complex cases. Memorial Atasehir is one such clinic. Our data shows these centres report a 65% success rate. Choosing a clinic with on-site genetic testing labs can also save time during the PGD process. This can cut 2–3 days.

Patient Consensus: Patients find Turkish doctors more direct than Australian GPs. They highlight that this straightforward approach leads to better outcomes. Many were pleasantly surprised by free initial consultations. They also appreciated the convenience of VIP airport transfers included in the service.

What tests are needed before travelling to Turkey for IVF?

Turkish fertility clinics require detailed results for both partners before travel. Essential tests include hormone panels for FSH, AMH, LH, and E2. A pelvic ultrasound and semen analysis are mandatory. Both partners must also complete infectious disease screening for HIV, Hepatitis B, and Syphilis before arrival.

  • Hormonal profile: Blood tests for FSH, AMH, and LH assess ovarian reserve.
  • Semen analysis: Evaluates sperm count, motility, and morphology for the male partner.
  • Ultrasound imaging: A pelvic ultrasound tracks antral follicles and identifies uterine issues.
  • Previous records: Reports from prior cycles help specialists tailor stimulation protocols.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Clinics with high success rates often request specific cycle-day tests. For example, Memorial Ataşehir Hospital has a 65% IVF success rate. Sending an ultrasound report from Day 23 of the patient's cycle helps doctors. It confirms the patient is ready for medications. This preparation can shorten a patient's stay in Turkey to just 7–10 days.

Patient Consensus: Patients note that arriving with current AMH and hormone results prevents delays. This is especially important for the first appointment. Many patients appreciate specialists like Dr Semra Kahraman. They explain upcoming steps in clear language once initial records are reviewed.

What happens to leftover embryos after IVF in Turkey?

Leftover viable embryos are typically cryopreserved for future use by the biological parents. Turkish regulations strictly prohibit embryo donation to other couples or medical research. Storage usually lasts five years. Couples must provide a marriage certificate to maintain their frozen embryos within the country.

  • Cryopreservation process: Viable embryos undergo freezing using liquid nitrogen at -196 degrees centigrade for future transfers.
  • Storage limits: Legal storage lasts for 5 years with options to renew through annual fees.
  • Disposal rules: Clinics discard embryos only upon written consent or if storage payments remain unpaid.
  • Legal restrictions: Turkish law permits embryo use only for the original couple within a legal marriage.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While many countries allow embryo donation, Turkey maintains a closed system. Couples should note that annual maintenance costs are required to keep embryos viable. These costs might range from $300 to $500. Memorial Şişli Hospital has performed over 15,000 IVF procedures. Clinics like it operate under strict JCI-accredited protocols, so no embryos are repurposed without legal documentation.

Patient Consensus: Patients note that Turkey requires a marriage certificate for all IVF steps. They also emphasise that donation to other families is unavailable. Families often share that the process is straightforward. Yet it requires long-term patience during the waiting period between cycles.

How long do I need to stay in Turkey for IVF?

A standard IVF cycle in Turkey typically requires a stay of 15 to 20 days. This duration covers ovarian stimulation, egg retrieval, and embryo transfer. International patients usually arrive on the second day of their period to begin hormone injections and frequent monitoring scans.

  • Stimulation phase: Requires 10–12 days of daily hormone injections and regular ultrasounds.
  • Egg retrieval: Performed under light sedation roughly 36 hours after the final trigger injection.
  • Embryo development: Fertilised embryos grow in the laboratory for 3–5 days before transfer.
  • Transfer window: The embryo transfer occurs shortly after development, completing the clinical cycle.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data from Memorial Healthcare Group shows a 65% success rate. The group performs over 15,000 IVF procedures. To maximise these results, patients should choose accommodation within five minutes of the clinic. Staying near Memorial Bahçelievler is a good example. This avoids Istanbul traffic during the time-sensitive stimulation phase. During this phase, scans occur every 48 hours.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Turkey find the process highly organised, with comfortable airport transfers. However, they recommend requesting English-speaking interpreters early. This prevents medication timing errors. Many suggest allowing a full 20 days. This gives a relaxed recovery before the flight back to Australia.

Why is Turkey a popular destination for IVF?

Turkey is a leading IVF destination, combining JCI-accredited clinics with genetic screening. Patients benefit from 65% success rates at major centres and immediate treatment starts. Specialist care includes ICSI, PGT, and ovarian rejuvenation. This often costs significantly less than private Australian fertility cycles.

  • Success rates: Memorial Ataşehir Hospital reports a 65% success rate across 15,000+ IVF procedures.
  • Expert credentials: Professors like Dr Nilgun Turhan have authored 230+ works on reproductive care.
  • Technology: Centres use PICSI for sperm selection and PGT for genetic aneuploidy testing.
  • Accredited facilities: Istanbul clinics like Memorial Şişli were the first in Turkey to earn JCI accreditation.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Most Australian patients focus on Istanbul for convenience. However, Antalya offers a distinct advantage for extended stays. Bookimed data shows some clinics there provide dedicated guest houses. This is ideal. Successful egg retrieval and transfer cycles require about 20 days in the country.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Turkey feel like family. This is due to attentive translators and coordinators who provide 24/7 support. They appreciate the direct, professional approach of doctors. They also find the seamless airport transfers and modern, hygienic clinic environments deeply reassuring.
