The surgeon and the whole medical team have been absolutely brilliant
I was really worried about the recovery period, and the truth is it hasn’t been as easy as I expected. My stomach is still swollen, and the compression garments are still tight, but the hardest part so far has been dealing with the annoying numb patches. That said, the surgeon and the whole medical team have been absolutely brilliant. The doctor explained to me that he used ultrasound technology (VASER) and removed between 3 and 4 litres of fat, and I felt I was in safe hands with them. Unfortunately, the clinic’s facilities weren’t up to the same standard as the quality of medical care, which is why I’ve given it a lower rating. Overall, I’m optimistic about the final result.

The operation went well, quickly and painlessly
The operation went well, quickly and painlessly. They provided all the necessary medication to be taken afterwards. The staff were always in touch. After the operation we had several additional check-ups to make sure that everything was OK. They constantly organised the transfer from the hotel to the clinic and back.

My biggest surprise is the lack of results. Although I am only just beginning my recovery, my skin is already much looser than I expected after such a procedure. The hardest part so far has been the visibility of the bruises, which were very extensive. I have to admit: the staff were decent. However, communication with the surgeon was virtually non-existent, to the extent that I’m not even sure which technique was used. The clinic’s overall organisation was also poor. I would absolutely not recommend this clinic.
I was received in a large room, decorated like a palace! I was greeted and asked for payment very quickly! Then came immediate examinations and the operation was scheduled for the next day
Everything was fine until I entered the operating room (a different building, much less impressive!). The anesthesia was administered on the operating table. The operating table, covered in green plastic with numerous black stains (blood), made me want to run away. Then I let myself go, almost resigned. Waking up was difficult, and I spent a day and two nights in my room, heavily medicated with painkillers, with nurses who were at least quite friendly. All the bruises took more than a month to disappear. I watched my face sag day by day. Nothing had changed! The treated areas are still numb, eight months after the operation. The scars are clearly visible, and the skin is completely loose. In short, a rip-off operation. And the final gift, because it has to be said, hepatitis C! This hospital isn't a hospital! It's a scam clinic! I am, of course, available to anyone who wants to know more about my surgery, a lower face and neck lift. The clinic promised me a touch-up on my neck after I go for a follow-up appointment and show them the significant skin laxity, but I'm too afraid of ending up with a completely unsightly face if I entrust them with my face again. This is a true story, and I have all the necessary documentation to prove it.

Our Gynecomastia surgery Techniques: What Suits You Best?

When considering Gynecomastia surgery, it’s important to understand the different techniques and which is best suited for you. Here’s a concise comparison of popular options:

Airsculpt Gynecomastia Surgery

A minimally invasive procedure using laser-assisted liposuction to remove excess breast tissue in men.

Pros: Provides precise fat removal with minimal scarring. Recovery is faster, with many patients returning to work within 48-72 hours. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia, reducing risks associated with general anesthesia.
Cons: Limited to removing up to 5 liters of fat per session. May not address glandular tissue effectively, requiring additional procedures for comprehensive results.
Effectiveness: Removes up to 5 liters of fat in a single session.
Duration: 1-3 hours
Recovery: 2-3 days
Best for: Men with excess fat in the chest area and seeking a less invasive option.

Liposuction for gynecomastia

Male breast surgery removes excess fat in the chest area through liposuction.

Pros: Minimally invasive. Faster recovery compared to gynecomastia revision surgery. 80% satisfaction rate among patients.
Cons: Cannot address glandular tissue, unlike gynecomastia revision surgery. Limited to fat removal only.
Effectiveness: Removes up to 2 liters of fat per session.
Duration: 1-2 hours
Recovery: 1-2 weeks
Best for: Reducing fat in male chest due to obesity or hormonal imbalance.
Prices: Cost of Liposuction for gynecomastia in Thailand from AUD $3,256

Gynecomastia Revision Surgery

Refines previous male breast reduction surgeries to improve aesthetic outcomes or address complications.

Pros: Tailored to correct specific issues from past surgeries. Often involves minimal scarring with skilled plastic surgeon. Can address asymmetry effectively.
Cons: May require more than one session for optimal results. Risk of scar tissue complications at 10-15%.
Effectiveness: Success rate of 85-90% in achieving desired chest contour.
Duration: 1-3 hours
Recovery: 2-4 weeks
Best for: Correcting asymmetry, removing excess tissue, improving appearance post initial surgery.
Prices: Cost of Gynecomastia revision surgery in Thailand from AUD $3,689

Pectoral implant placement

Involves inserting a solid silicone implant under the chest muscle to enhance the contour and size of the pectoral area.

Pros: Provides a natural-looking increase in chest size with minimal scarring. Offers a 95% satisfaction rate among patients.
Cons: May involve a longer recovery period compared to fat transfer, with potential for implant shifting.
Effectiveness: Achieves a consistent and symmetrical pectoral enhancement in 90% of cases.
Duration: 2-3 hours
Recovery: 4-6 weeks
Best for: Individuals seeking enhanced chest definition and volume, especially for those with underdeveloped pectoral muscles.

FAQ about Gynecomastia surgery in Thailand

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

How should I prepare for a gynecomastia surgery procedure in Thailand?

Preparing for gynecomastia surgery in Thailand involves virtual consultations, medication updates, and local planning. Patients should stop blood-thinning supplements two weeks before. They must also arrange a five to seven-day stay in Bangkok or Phuket for post-operative monitoring.

  • Technique selection: Choose between VASER ultrasound-assisted liposuction or AirSculpt for less invasive fat removal.
  • Medication protocol: Cease aspirin, fish oil, and Vitamin E 14 days before surgery.
  • Initial consultation: Complete video or text consultations with specialists like Dr Anuchit Kitsombat for assessment.
  • Local logistics: Arrange airport transfers, which are often included in packages from clinics like ID Clinic.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Many clinics offer outpatient surgery with no hospital nights. However, patients should prioritise facilities like Asia Cosmetic Hospital. Their packages include six months of follow-up care. This is vital for Australians who need remote monitoring after returning home.

Patient Consensus: Men visiting Thailand found that VASER technology made fat removal efficient. They felt supported by staff who managed all local transport. Bringing loose button-up shirts and planning for initial numbness or swelling made the first week more comfortable.

What techniques are used for gynecomastia surgery in Thailand?

Surgeons in Thailand use combined techniques to treat gynaecomastia. They blend VASER ultrasound-assisted liposuction with surgical gland excision. These methods address both fatty tissue and firm glandular discs. Clinics like ID Clinic Bangkok and Asia Cosmetic Hospital specialise in these procedures for international patients.

  • VASER liposuction: Uses ultrasound energy to break down fat while sparing connective tissue.
  • Gland excision: Removes firm breast tissue through small incisions around the nipple edge.
  • Combined approach: Pairs liposuction for contouring with excision to prevent a protruding appearance.
  • Skin excision: Required for severe cases to remove sagging skin and reposition the nipple.
  • AirSculpt technology: Offers a minimally invasive alternative for fat removal without traditional needles.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Thailand’s high-volume centres offer surgical expertise at a fraction of the cost. Dr Phatcharasak Kraisornphongsakul at ID Clinic Bangkok has performed 20,000+ procedures. This depth of experience helps avoid the scooped-out look seen with less experienced surgeons.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Thailand found the surgical teams excellent and felt safe throughout the process. They appreciated the clear explanations of ultrasound technology and the consistent follow-up care provided after surgery.

What type of anaesthesia is used for gynecomastia surgery in Thailand?

Gynecomastia surgery in Thailand is performed under general anaesthesia or local anaesthesia with sedation. Specialist hospitals in Bangkok use general anaesthesia for most VASER liposuction and tissue excision procedures. This maintains patient comfort and safety during the operation.

  • Procedure complexity: General anaesthesia is standard for severe Grade 3 or 4 cases requiring tissue excision.
  • Patient comfort: Sedation with local anaesthetic is used for minor, minimally invasive Grade 1 corrections.
  • Medical monitoring: Anaesthetists and cardiologists supervise procedures at facilities like Asia Cosmetic Hospital.
  • Accredited settings: Operations occur in sterile theatres at clinics certified by the Royal College of Surgeons.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data shows a preference for general anaesthesia at high-volume centres like ID Clinic Bangkok. This clinic treats 4,000 patients annually. Choosing a facility with JCI or ISO accreditation provides reassurance that qualified anaesthetists manage every case.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Thailand describe the process as quick and painless. Many report they were asleep for standard VASER procedures. They felt supported by staff who stayed in contact and organised post-operative medications and hotel transfers.

Who is a suitable candidate for gynecomastia surgery in Thailand?

A suitable candidate for gynaecomastia surgery in Thailand is a healthy male with stable, persistent breast tissue growth. These candidates have typically seen no results from lifestyle changes. Ideal patients should be over 18 and maintain a stable weight. They should hold realistic expectations for chest contouring using VASER liposuction or gland excision techniques.

  • Physical health: Candidates must be generally healthy without conditions that impede healing or anaesthesia safety.
  • Tissue stability: Breast development must be fully finished and not fluctuating due to active puberty.
  • Lifestyle results: Surgery is for glandular or fatty tissue remaining after focused diet and exercise.
  • Smoking status: Non-smokers are preferred. They experience smoother recovery and significantly fewer wound-healing issues.
  • Specific goals: Suitable men seek to improve body confidence and resolve embarrassment in fitted clothing.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Thailand's surgeons often have immense experience. Dr Phatcharasak Kraisornphongsakul at ID Clinic Bangkok has performed 20,000+ procedures. This high volume is a strong quality signal. Clinics like Asia Cosmetic Hospital combine this expertise with JCI accreditation to meet international safety standards.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Thailand report feeling in safe hands when surgeons explain the VASER ultrasound process clearly. They appreciate the continuous support from staff. This includes multiple follow-up check-ups and organised transfers to keep everything on track.

How long is the recovery period following gynecomastia surgery in Thailand?

Most patients in Thailand return to light office work within a few days of gynaecomastia surgery. International patients should plan a stay of 11 to 14 days. This allows for follow-up appointments, stitch removal, and safe air travel back to Australia.

  • Immediate activity: Patients can typically return to light daily tasks within 1 to 2 weeks.
  • Exercise restrictions: Avoid strenuous chest training and heavy lifting for 4 to 6 weeks.
  • Compression support: A compression vest is required for 2 to 6 weeks to manage swelling.
  • Final results: Full healing and the final chest contour are typically visible after 3 to 6 months.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Many clinics suggest a quick return to work. However, the hardest recovery phase lasts 3 to 7 days. Specialists at ID Clinic Bangkok and Asia Cosmetic Hospital often use VASER ultrasound. Smaller incisions from this technique help manage swelling, yet patients should expect initial chest tightness.

Patient Consensus: Recovery involves early numbness and swelling. Staff in Thailand provide all necessary medications and frequent check-ups. Patients feel reassured by the constant contact and organised transfers between the hotel and the clinic.

Will there be visible scars after gynecomastia surgery in Thailand?

Gynecomastia surgery in Thailand typically results in subtle, well-concealed scars. Surgeons place incisions along the lower edge of the areola or within the natural chest crease. Techniques like VASER liposuction minimise incision size. These marks often fade significantly within 12 months.

  • Incision placement: Surgeons hide marks along the curved edge of the areola (periareolar).
  • Liposuction techniques: VASER ultrasound technology uses small punctures rather than large surgical incisions.
  • Gland excision: If tissue removal is required, specialists place incisions in natural skin folds.
  • Healing timeframe: Scars typically flatten and match skin tone within 12 to 18 months.
  • Aftercare standards: Silicone gels and compression garments help reduce scar thickness and visibility.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Thailand’s high-volume centres like ID Clinic Bangkok often use ultrasound-assisted VASER. This technique allows Dr Phatcharasak Kraisornphongsakul to achieve chest contouring through minimal access points. Having performed 20,000+ procedures, he uses methods that heal faster than traditional excision.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Thailand found the recovery manageable. They noted that small incisions from ultrasound-assisted fat removal felt secure and well-monitored. They appreciated the frequent post-operative check-ups and medical guidance that helped them heal correctly.

How long does gynecomastia surgery in Thailand usually take?

Gynecomastia surgery in Thailand typically takes 1 to 2 hours. Theatre time varies based on whether the surgeon uses liposuction, gland excision, or both. Patients usually have the procedure under general anaesthesia. They are monitored in recovery for several hours before returning to their hotel.

  • Surgical duration: Most procedures finish within 90 to 120 minutes for standard cases.
  • Technique impact: Combining VASER liposuction with surgical gland removal may extend theatre time.
  • Hospital stay: Most Bangkok clinics perform this as a same-day procedure with 0 nights stay.
  • Travel timeframe: Patients should remain in Thailand for 7 days for follow-up appointments.

Bookimed Expert Insight: The surgery is quick. A$3,200–A$3,300 packages often include 6 months of remote follow-up. This is vital for Australians. Specialists like Dr Phatcharasak Kraisornphongsakul use video consultations to monitor healing once patients return home.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Thailand found the surgery quick and painless. It often included medication and multiple post-op check-ups. They appreciated the organised transfers between hotels and clinics while managing swelling and compression garments.
