Gynecomastia revision surgery in Thailand typically costs from AUD $3,627 / ฿A123,302 to AUD $8,704 / ฿A295,925. The final price depends on whether the patient requires additional liposuction, skin tightening, or corrective glandular excision. In Australia, similar revision procedures cost around AUD $15,231 / ฿A517,869 on average. Patients can achieve savings of around 59% by travelling to hubs like Bangkok. • Glandular excision: requires a precise surgical approach to remove remaining breast tissue while ensuring natural contours.

  • JCI accreditation: facilities meeting these international safety standards generally charge 20–30% more than non-accredited clinics.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Australian patients often find better value at high-volume centres in Bangkok. Wansiri Hospital maintains a 99% success rate for body contouring using digitized operations. The surgeon and the whole medical team have been absolutely brilliant
I was really worried about the recovery period, and the truth is it hasn’t been as easy as I expected. My stomach is still swollen, and the compression garments are still tight, but the hardest part so far has been dealing with the annoying numb patches. That said, the surgeon and the whole medical team have been absolutely brilliant. The doctor explained to me that he used ultrasound technology (VASER) and removed between 3 and 4 litres of fat, and I felt I was in safe hands with them. Unfortunately, the clinic’s facilities weren’t up to the same standard as the quality of medical care, which is why I’ve given it a lower rating. Overall, I’m optimistic about the final result.

My biggest surprise is the lack of results. Although I am only just beginning my recovery, my skin is already much looser than I expected after such a procedure. The hardest part so far has been the visibility of the bruises, which were very extensive. I have to admit: the staff were decent. However, communication with the surgeon was virtually non-existent, to the extent that I’m not even sure which technique was used. The clinic’s overall organisation was also poor. I would absolutely not recommend this clinic.

The operation went well, quickly and painlessly
The operation went well, quickly and painlessly. They provided all the necessary medication to be taken afterwards. The staff were always in touch. After the operation we had several additional check-ups to make sure that everything was OK. They constantly organised the transfer from the hotel to the clinic and back.

FAQ about Gynecomastia revision surgery in Thailand

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

How do I choose the best specialist surgeon for revision gynecomastia surgery in Thailand?

Choosing a surgeon for revision gynecomastia surgery in Thailand requires verifying their board certification. Check for certification from the Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons of Thailand. You should also check for international ISAPS membership. Request before-and-after portfolios of revision cases. This ensures the specialist can manage complex scar tissue and contour irregularities.

  • Board certification: Confirm the surgeon is certified by the Thai Board of Plastic Surgery.
  • Revision expertise: Prioritise surgeons with high-volume experience, like Dr Phatcharasak Kraisornphongsakul at ID Clinic.
  • Hospital standards: Select JCI-accredited facilities like Asia Cosmetic Hospital for international safety protocols.
  • Theatre technology: Look for HEPA air filtration systems at hospitals like Wansiri or Lelux Hospital.
  • Experience volume: Dr Phatcharasak Kraisornphongsakul has performed over 20,000+ procedures across plastic surgery specialities.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Thai clinics often specialise by patient volume. B.Care Medical Center serves 22,000+ patients annually. This high volume leads to refined protocols for managing complications. Australian patients should look for clinics like Rattinan Medical Center. It holds AACI Quality Standards for surgical excellence.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Thailand value surgeons who explain how they fix unevenness or excess skin. Many appreciate the detailed consultations and support at major Bangkok centres.

What is the recommended timing for revision gynecomastia surgery in Thailand?

Revision gynecomastia surgery in Thailand is generally recommended at least 6 to 12 months after the initial procedure. Surgeons require this waiting period so internal swelling can resolve and scar tissue can mature. This provides a clearer surgical plane and more predictable results.

  • Healing window: Waiting 10–12 months allows post-surgical oedema to clear and chest contours to stabilise.
  • Scar maturation: Specialists often advise waiting until scars are flat and white before performing revisions.
  • Tuning period: Many minor irregularities or lumps improve naturally during the first 6–8 months of healing.
  • Clinical benchmarks: Revision costs from $2,500 to $6,000, saving up to 57% over Australian averages.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Thai clinics like Rattinan Medical Centre and ID Clinic Bangkok handle thousands of cases annually. Surgeons like Dr Phatcharasak Kraisornphongsakul have performed over 20,000+ procedures. Due to this high volume, they often prefer waiting 12 months for revisions. This avoids operating on inflamed tissue and lowers the risk of secondary asymmetry.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Thailand found that rushing revisions before 6 months often led to persistent lumpiness. They suggest waiting until tissues soften naturally to achieve the best symmetry and final results.

Why is revision surgery required and is it available for gynecomastia patients in Thailand?

Thailand offers specialised gynaecomastia revision surgery to correct unsatisfactory results from initial procedures. Specialists address persistent glandular tissue, chest asymmetry, or contour irregularities like cratering. This secondary surgery is available at accredited Bangkok facilities. It costs between $2,500 and $6,000, which is significantly less than Australian averages.

  • Glandular tissue removal: Surgeons excise missed breast tissue causing persistent nipple puffiness.
  • Contour correction: Specialists fix dents or craters caused by excessive fat removal.
  • Asymmetry adjustment: Doctors balance uneven chest sides to create a masculine appearance.
  • Refinement techniques: Clinics use liposuction or tissue resection to smooth internal scarring.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Thailand has a high volume of male breast procedures. B.Care Medical Center alone serves 22,000+ patients annually. This massive throughput means surgeons frequently handle complex revisions. Many Bangkok clinics now use Clean Room standard theatres to reduce infection risks during these delicate secondary surgeries.

Patient Consensus: Revision surgery in Thailand effectively addresses leftover volume and contour dents. Patients find these secondary procedures technically complex but essential for fixing edge deformities. Clear follow-up plans for compression and wound care are vital before returning home.

What medical techniques are used during revision gynecomastia surgery in Thailand?

Revision gynecomastia surgery in Thailand uses VASER ultrasound liposuction and glandular excision to correct previous surgical outcomes. Surgeons use these methods alongside fat grafting and scar revision. Facilities such as Asia Cosmetic Hospital and Rattinan Clinic specialise in these complex cases to restore a natural chest contour.

  • VASER liposuction: Breaks down fibrous scar tissue and residual fat for precise chest sculpting.
  • Glandular excision: Removes remaining hard tissue through small, hidden incisions around the nipple.
  • Lipofilling: Uses fat grafting to fill depressions or uneven areas from previous surgery.
  • Scar revision: Removes old tissue and uses refined suturing to improve existing incision lines.
  • Tissue redraping: Tightens loose skin for a firm, flat appearance after tissue removal.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Many clinics offer standard gynecomastia surgery. However, revision cases in Bangkok often involve VASER technology. This is crucial because revision surgery deals with tough scar tissue. Standard liposuction cannot easily penetrate this tissue. Specialists like Dr Phatcharasak Kraisornphongsakul have performed over 20,000+ procedures. They provide the expertise needed for complex secondary corrections.

Patient Consensus: Patients travelling to Thailand value the thoroughness of the pre-surgical assessments. They report feeling more confident in the refined results. They also appreciate the focus on reducing visible scarring.

How does the recovery process for revision gynecomastia surgery in Thailand differ from a primary procedure?

Revision gynecomastia surgery in Thailand takes longer to heal than primary procedures. This is because surgeons must navigate existing scar tissue. Recovery typically requires 12–18 months for full tissue maturation. Patients often stay in Bangkok for 7–10 days. This allows doctors to monitor for seroma or contour irregularities before the flight home.

  • Scar tissue management: Existing internal scarring makes tissue less pliable. It also increases initial swelling levels.
  • Hospital stay: Patients typically remain in theatre for 4–6 hours followed by 1–2 nights hospitalisation.
  • Strenuous activity: Heavy lifting and vigorous exercise must be avoided for at least 6–8 weeks.
  • Compression requirements: Garments are essential for managing unpredictable swelling. These typically require longer, more diligent use.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data from clinics like Rattinan Medical Center shows that revision cases often involve fat grafting. This fixes crater deformities but adds a second recovery site at the liposuction harvest area. Patients should budget for at least 10 days in Thailand. This helps secure stable healing before the long-haul flight back to Australia.

Patient Consensus: Recovery in Thailand feels slower and less predictable. This is due to persistent firmness and lumps. Many patients feel emotional stress while waiting months for the chest contour to finally settle.

How long should I plan to stay in Thailand for revision gynecomastia surgery?

Plan for a 10 to 14 day stay in Thailand for revision gynaecomastia surgery. This time is needed to manage scar tissue from previous procedures. Most patients spend 1 to 2 nights at centres like Wansiri Hospital or Asia Cosmetic Hospital for monitoring.

  • Hospital stay: Expect 1 to 2 nights for initial observation and pain management.
  • Drain removal: Surgeons typically remove surgical drains between day 5 and day 8.
  • Suture removal: Specialists conduct final check-ups and remove stitches 7 to 10 days after surgery.
  • Safe flying: Wait at least 11 days before flying back to Australia to prevent complications.
  • Activity levels: Return to light work after 7 days but avoid lifting for 4 weeks.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While standard gynaecomastia surgery in Thailand is high-volume, revision cases are more complex. Surgeons like Dr Phatcharasak Kraisornphongsakul at ID Clinic Bangkok have performed 20,000+ procedures. This experience is vital for navigating existing scar tissue and achieving symmetrical results.
