What would I say to a friend who’s hesitating? Just go for it
What would I say to a friend who’s hesitating? Just go for it. My biggest fear was not understanding the treatment plan or feeling rushed, but that wasn’t the case at all. The dentist was very patient and took the time to explain each step to me in detail. It was reassuring. The overall organisation ran smoothly and the whole clinic team were professional and happy to answer my questions. Coordination via Bookimed simplified the whole process, which helped reduce the stress of having a medical appointment abroad. I left with clear information and a good overall impression.

I would like to thank BIDC and also Bookimed for their professionalism
Hello everyone, like many other people before an operation, I wasn't feeling very well. The staff at the clinic immediately reassured and accompanied me. Believe me or not, I didn't feel a thing. The dental surgeon fitted the 2 implants in 40 minutes, and I had no infections whatsoever. My Bookimed advisor (Péguy) was with me from the start and is still with me today. I would like to thank BIDC and also Bookimed for their professionalism. Sylvain B.

The wisdom teeth extraction was done so fast with utmost care
It is a clean hospital and the wisdom teeth extraction was done so fast with utmost care. The dentist and dental personnel can speak fluent English which is important for most people like I. For wisdom teeth extraction the cost was 20000 baht for 4 teeth( including medication and nurse charge), but it all depends if the teeth has impacted. I would highly recommend the clinic.

FAQ about Same day crown in Thailand

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

Will a same-day dental crown procedure in Thailand be painful?

Same-day crowns in Thailand involve minimal discomfort. Dentists use local anaesthesia to numb the area during tooth preparation. CEREC CAD/CAM technology allows for precise digital scanning and in-house milling. This avoids the need for uncomfortable temporary crowns or messy traditional impressions.

  • Pain management: Dentists apply local anaesthesia. They can immediately adjust the dosage if sensitivity occurs.
  • Fit and precision: On-site CAD/CAM labs at clinics like BIDH help crowns fit accurately the first time.
  • Physical comfort: Patients may experience minor pressure or jaw fatigue during the single, longer dental visit.
  • Reduced trauma: Digital intra-oral scanning replaces traditional trays. This prevents the gag reflex or gum irritation.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Single-visit crowns are fast. However, success at Bangkok clinics like Kitcha Dental often depends on imaging. Packages including panoramic X-rays or CT scans let specialists find nerve inflammation before starting. Treating these issues early prevents post-procedure pain that a crown alone cannot fix.

Patient Consensus: Expect vibration and drilling noises rather than sharp pain during the appointment. It is common to feel temporary sensitivity to cold or air for several days. Patients advise checking that the dentist adjusts the bite perfectly before you leave the clinic.

How long do same-day crowns placed in Thailand typically last?

Same-day crowns in Thailand typically last 10 to 15 years. Some durable materials can last up to 30 years. Quality clinics use high-precision CAD/CAM scanners and chairside milling for a tight fit. Success relies on materials like E.max ceramic or Zirconia and diligent oral hygiene.

  • Technological precision: Chairside CEREC systems used in clinics like A.B. Dental Studio Phuket provide a precise fit.
  • Premium materials: Specialists use durable lithium disilicate or Straumann-sourced materials for long-term structural integrity.
  • Success rate: Modern digital scanning results in over 90% of crowns functioning perfectly beyond 5 years.
  • Experience levels: Leading Bangkok clinics like Kitcha Dental Clinic serve 10,000+ patients annually with decades of history.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Thailand's longevity secret lies in dedicated in-house labs. While some clinics use chairside milling for speed, centres like Bangkok Smile Dental Clinic or BIDH maintain full-scale on-site laboratories. This allows a specialist technician to hand-finish the CAD/CAM crown. This process provides better bite alignment than a purely automated system.

Patient Consensus: Same-day crowns in Thailand offer incredible convenience. Patients should confirm bite fit and cementation before leaving. Many visitors find the durability matches Australian standards when using high-grade materials like Zirconia.

What materials are used for one-day crowns in Thailand?

Thai dental clinics use high-quality ceramics for one-day crowns, primarily zirconia and lithium disilicate. These materials are milled using in-clinic CAD/CAM systems like CEREC for a precise fit and natural appearance. Specialists typically recommend zirconia for back teeth and lithium disilicate for front teeth.

  • Zirconia (zirconium dioxide): Provides high strength for molars. It resists heavy biting forces and chipping.
  • Lithium disilicate: Used for front teeth. This ceramic mimics the translucency of natural enamel.
  • CEREC ceramic blocks: Precision-milled in the clinic theatre. These allow for immediate placement during appointments.
  • Straumann® materials: Leading clinics like SmileBox use these Swiss-made components for high-quality restorations.
  • IPS Empress: A specialised ceramic system. It is used for detailed and aesthetic smile enhancements.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Many clinics offer zirconia. Patients should verify if they use "translucent" zirconia for front teeth. Data from Bangkok Dental International Hospital shows that on-site CAD/CAM labs often stock different grades. Choosing a premium block like Cercon can help the crown look less opaque.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Thailand appreciate getting digital scans instead of messy moulds. Most recommend asking exactly which brand of ceramic block is used for durability and aesthetic matching.

How does the same-day crown process work at a dental clinic in Thailand?

Same-day crowns in Thailand use CEREC CAD/CAM technology to design, mill, and fit permanent ceramic crowns in 1–3 hours. Specialists at clinics like AB Dental Studio Phuket use 3D intraoral scanners to create digital impressions. This removes the need for uncomfortable traditional moulds and temporary crowns.

  • Digital scanning: Intraoral scanners capture precise 3D mouth maps for a comfortable fit.
  • CAD/CAM design: Software designs the custom crown while the patient waits in the theatre.
  • Precision milling: On-site machines carve the permanent crown from ceramic blocks.
  • Immediate cementation: The dentist polishes and permanently bonds the crown in one visit.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Many Thai clinics offer 24-hour turnarounds. However, true single-visit restorations require specific CEREC or Dentsply Sirona systems. Clinics like SmileBox Dental Clinic - Thonglor serve over 1,600+ patients annually. These high-volume centres often have the laboratory infrastructure needed for these rapid workflows.

Patient Consensus: Travellers frequently mention the convenience of avoiding temporary crowns and messy impressions. Most suggest allowing a few extra hours for bite adjustments before flying home. This helps the fit feel natural.

Are same-day crowns in Thailand better than traditional crowns?

Same-day crowns in Thailand offer convenience for travellers. They complete restorations in 1 to 2 hours using CAD/CAM technology. Traditional crowns provide better aesthetic depth for front teeth through hand-layering. However, digital CEREC systems at clinics like A.B. Dental Studio Phuket deliver precise results for molars.

  • Treatment speed: CAD/CAM workflows like CEREC finish crowns in one appointment instead of two weeks.
  • Digital precision: Intra-oral scanners replace messy physical impressions with accurate 3D imaging.
  • Material quality: Clinics use original Straumann and IPS Empress ceramic blocks for high durability.
  • Aesthetic choice: Traditional lab-made crowns are better for front teeth requiring natural shade matching.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Thailand’s dental market is mature. Clinics like Bangkok Smile Dental serve 20,000 patients annually. Same-day crowns cost from $800. They often save Australians more by eliminating the need for return flights or extended hotel stays.

Patient Consensus: Travellers in Thailand value the efficiency of completing dental work in one trip. Most find that digital scans and in-house milling provide a comfortable fit. This significantly reduces their total holiday time spent in the dentist's chair.
