Bookimed also responsive and excellent - the combination service was outstanding
The support provided by B-Care was outstanding and the additional cosmetic removal work was delivered with enthusiasm and frankly very cost effectively - the original estimate was very attractive - the final bill brilliant and a fraction of the cost in the UK. The post care notes were comprehensive and clear. Bookimed also responsive and excellent - the combination service was outstanding

I'm pleased I went there
Well it's been about a month and I'm still recovering but I'm pleased I went there.
The people were nice
What I didn't like wasn't to do with the place or people. I went through quite a painful procedure getting rid of rather a lot of moles and I almost wished I hadn't when I was in pain. It's all changed now that I'm healing.

FAQ about Mole Removal in Thailand

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

What techniques are used for mole removal in Thailand?

Dermatologists in Thailand remove moles using laser therapy for cosmetic cases or surgical excision for atypical lesions. Specialist centres like Bumrungrad International Hospital and Asia Cosmetic Hospital follow JCI-accredited protocols for sterile environments and precise results.

  • Laser mole removal: Best for small, benign facial lesions using carbon dioxide (CO2) beams.
  • Surgical excision: Required for deeper, suspicious moles that need pathological testing for cancer.
  • Mohs surgery: Precise surgical technique used for skin cancer cases at specialised oncology units.
  • Cryotherapy: Freezes the lesion with liquid nitrogen normally for non-cancerous skin growths.
  • Fractional laser: Follow-up treatment that supports skin regeneration to minimise potential scarring.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Clinics like B.Care Medical Center often bundle small mole removals with other cosmetic procedures. Bookimed data shows high-volume centres perform 20,000+ procedures annually. This indicates specialists have handled virtually every skin type.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Bangkok report smooth experiences with professional medical teams and clear instructions. Many found the cosmetic work high-quality and the overall cost significantly lower than in Australia.

What is the recovery timeline and post-operative care for mole removal in Thailand?

Mole removal in Thailand is an outpatient procedure that typically takes 15–20 minutes. Surface healing starts within 1–3 days as scabs form. Stitches are removed after 7–14 days. Full skin clearing occurs by day 21. Specialists like Dr Pallavi Mishra provide detailed post-care notes for international patients.

  • Technique impact: Laser removal heals faster than surgical excision which requires 1–2 weeks for sutures.
  • Initial phase: Keep wounds clean and dry for 3 days to allow protective scabs.
  • Physical restriction: Avoid swimming and heavy sweating until the wound closes fully after 14 days.
  • Pigmentation control: Apply broad-spectrum sunscreen daily to prevent the scar from darkening permanently.
  • Clinic standards: Wansiri Hospital uses air filtration in theatres to reduce infection risks.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Clinics like B.Care Medical Center often provide written care plans for Australians flying home early. This help local GPs safely manage suture removal. This coordination is vital because while surface healing is quick, scar maturation continues for months.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Thailand appreciate the affordable treatment and professional thoroughness. They found post-care instructions easy to follow back home. The smooth coordination and warm environment made the recovery experience stress-free.

How should an Australian patient prepare for a mole removal appointment in Thailand?

Australian patients preparing for mole removal in Thailand should stop blood-thinning supplements two weeks before their appointment. They should also avoid alcohol for 48 hours. Successful preparation involves bringing high-resolution photos of the mole and documenting recent changes. Patients must also confirm if the clinic will perform laser removal or surgical excision.

  • Medication review: Stop taking Aspirin, Ibuprofen, and herbal supplements 14 days before surgical excision.
  • Histology planning: Confirm the clinic will send tissue for biopsy and arrange international results reporting.
  • Sun safety: Avoid sunburn on the treatment area. Damaged skin prevents safe clinical procedures.
  • Practical logistics: Wear loose clothing. Plan for 3–5 days without swimming or heavy activity.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While mole removal in Thailand ranges from $30 to $400, Australian patients often overlook pathology. Centres like Bumrungrad International Hospital or JCI-accredited Asia Cosmetic Hospital integrate dermatology with on-site labs. This provides rapid biopsy results that the A$950 Australian average rarely includes.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Bangkok appreciate clinics that provide comprehensive post-care notes and clear instructions. Experience shows that everything goes smoothly when communication is professional and medical teams are thorough upon arrival.

How long does a mole removal procedure in Thailand take?

Mole removal in Thailand typically takes 30 to 60 minutes for the treatment. Total appointment time usually lasts under two hours. This includes the consultation, local anaesthesia, and time to dress the wound.

  • Procedure duration: Treatment ranges from 5 minutes for shaves to 25 minutes for excisions.
  • Numbing preparation: Numbing cream usually takes 15–30 minutes to become fully effective.
  • Technique impact: Laser removals at clinics like Asia Cosmetic Hospital are faster than surgical excisions.
  • Post-op observation: Most centres ask patients to stay for 60 minutes to monitor healing.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Laser removal is faster but typically applies only to benign, surface-level lesions. For atypical moles, clinics like Navamin9 Hospital perform surgical excisions. These require 5–7 days before stitches are removed. Check if the clinic offers telehealth follow-up for Australians returning home shortly after treatment.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Thailand find the actual removal surprisingly brief. They appreciate clear post-care notes and instructions provided before leaving the clinic.
