I would like to thank BIDC and also Bookimed for their professionalism
Hello everyone, like many other people before an operation, I wasn't feeling very well. The staff at the clinic immediately reassured and accompanied me. Believe me or not, I didn't feel a thing. The dental surgeon fitted the 2 implants in 40 minutes, and I had no infections whatsoever. My Bookimed advisor (Péguy) was with me from the start and is still with me today. I would like to thank BIDC and also Bookimed for their professionalism. Sylvain B.

What would I say to a friend who’s hesitating? Just go for it
What would I say to a friend who’s hesitating? Just go for it. My biggest fear was not understanding the treatment plan or feeling rushed, but that wasn’t the case at all. The dentist was very patient and took the time to explain each step to me in detail. It was reassuring. The overall organisation ran smoothly and the whole clinic team were professional and happy to answer my questions. Coordination via Bookimed simplified the whole process, which helped reduce the stress of having a medical appointment abroad. I left with clear information and a good overall impression.

The wisdom teeth extraction was done so fast with utmost care
It is a clean hospital and the wisdom teeth extraction was done so fast with utmost care. The dentist and dental personnel can speak fluent English which is important for most people like I. For wisdom teeth extraction the cost was 20000 baht for 4 teeth( including medication and nurse charge), but it all depends if the teeth has impacted. I would highly recommend the clinic.

FAQ about Full dentures installation in Thailand

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

Are full dentures provided in Thailand of the same clinical quality as those in Australia?

Full dentures in Thailand match Australian quality by using identical materials from global brands like Ivoclar Vivadent and Straumann. Leading Bangkok centres hold JCI accreditation. They employ prosthodontists with international training from the US, UK, and Australia for precise fitting standards.

  • Premium materials: Clinics use internationally recognised brands like Ivoclar Vivadent and Straumann for durability.
  • Specialist expertise: Prosthodontists often hold certifications from the American Board of Prosthodontics (ABPros).
  • Quality standards: Dedicated facilities like Bangkok International Dental Center maintain JCI and ISO certifications.
  • Modern technology: Centres use in-house 3D milling labs for more accurate bite registrations and fittings.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Thailand is a leader in dental care, serving 11,000+ patients through Bookimed alone. While standard dentures cost from $400 to $600, the highest quality is often found in dedicated dental hospitals. For example, BIDH in Bangkok uses hospital-level sterilisation protocols rarely seen in Australian private clinics.

Patient Consensus: Patients find that clinic choice determines quality more than the country itself. Successful outcomes in Thailand depend on the dentist's experience with full dentures. Patients should also schedule enough time for multiple fitting trials.

How should an Australian patient evaluate and choose a dental clinic for full dentures in Thailand?

Australian patients should check for Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation and ISO standards. Successful selection involves confirming prosthodontic specialists use recognised materials like Straumann or Ivoclar Vivadent. They should also prioritise multi-step fitting processes including impressions, bite registration, and try-in stages.

  • International accreditation: Seek JCI-accredited facilities or those with ISO 9001 quality management certifications.
  • Specialist qualifications: Confirm dentists hold credentials from the American Board of Prosthodontics or Thai Dental Association.
  • Material transparency: Confirm the use of genuine Swiss materials such as Straumann to match Australian standards.
  • Clinical setting: Choose hospital-based centres like Bangkok International Dental Hospital for strict sterilisation protocols.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data shows 154 Thai clinics serve over 11,550 patients annually. However, established centres like Kitcha Dental Clinic offer 45+ years of stability. Australian patients should prioritise clinics with on-site labs and 30+ specialised doctors. This helps to secure same-trip adjustments for a perfect denture fit.

Patient Consensus: Patients suggest asking about the dentist-to-technician workflow to check the level of supervision. Successful outcomes in Thailand often depend on a realistic adjustment period. Patients should also request a written plan for post-treatment support.

How many visits are typically required at a Thai clinic to complete the process for full dentures?

Completing full dentures in Thailand typically requires 3 to 5 clinic visits over 5 to 10 days. This timeframe allows for initial impressions, bite alignment trials, and final fittings. Traditional dentures cost from $400 to $600. This saves Australians up to 91% compared to local prices.

  • First appointment: Specialists perform an oral examination and take primary mouth impressions.
  • Trial sessions: Subsequent visits involve wax trials and bite alignment for a comfortable fit.
  • Final delivery: Doctors at centres like Bangkok International Dental Center provide the final fitting.
  • Buffer time: Patients should allow 7 to 10 days for final adjustments.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Traditional dentures take several visits. However, clinics like Silom Dental Building offer immediate-loading "one day" implants. These use the Brånemark System to provide fixed teeth faster for suitable candidates. This reduces the total time spent in the dental chair during a holiday.

Patient Consensus: Plan for at least 3 visits for impressions, trials, and final tweaks. Having extra days in Thailand before flying home helps fix any small pressure spots.

What is the difference between immediate and conventional dentures when undergoing treatment in Thailand?

Immediate dentures are fitted straight after tooth extraction. This ensures patients leave the clinic with a complete smile. Conventional dentures require 6–12 weeks of healing before placement. Most Thai clinics, such as Bangkok International Dental Center, use JCI-accredited protocols to deliver precision-fit restorations.

  • Immediate dentures: Acts as a healing bandage to protect gum tissue after extractions.
  • Conventional dentures: Offer superior stability as the bone has finished shrinking before fitting.
  • Treatment timing: Immediate options suit short trips. Conventional ones require two visits months apart.
  • Adjustment needs: Immediate sets often need professional relining within 3–6 months for comfort.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Thai dental centres like Silom Dental Building often recommend immediate-loading implant systems, such as NobelDirect. These offer a more durable alternative to traditional dentures. These systems cost from $400 to $600. This saves Australians over 91% compared to local prices for all-on-4 restorations.

Patient Consensus: Visitors to Thailand appreciate leaving the surgery with teeth on the same day. While immediate dentures allow for a quick holiday return, waiting for healed gums provides a more secure fit.

What types of materials are commonly used for full dentures at dental clinics in Thailand?

Thai dental clinics use acrylic resin, thermoplastic nylon, and cobalt-chromium metal frameworks for full dentures. Premium restorations often include all-ceramic materials like Cercon, Lava, or porcelain. Clinics in Bangkok and Chiang Mai also specialise in implant-supported dentures using Straumann or Ivoclar Vivadent components.

  • Acrylic resin: Common lightweight material used for conventional plates and immediate temporary dentures.
  • Cobalt-chromium: Strong metal frameworks that provide a thinner, more durable fit for upper arches.
  • Thermoplastic nylon: Flexible resin used for lightweight dentures that offer increased patient comfort.
  • All-ceramic solutions: Materials like Cercon and Lava provide superior aesthetics for restorations.
  • Implant-supported sets: Fixed options using titanium or zirconia posts for stability and bone health.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Major Bangkok centres like Bangkok International Dental Center serve 15,000+ patients annually. They partner directly with global manufacturers like Ivoclar Vivadent and Straumann. These partnerships mean patients receive genuine Swiss and European materials. This provides a significant advantage over smaller clinics using generic alternatives.

Patient Consensus: Patients visiting Thailand frequently mention the high quality of porcelain finishes. They also note the natural look of the gum-coloured resins. Many appreciate consultations where specialists explain the durability differences between acrylic and metal-reinforced options.

Is it possible for an Australian to receive a full set of dentures during a single trip to Thailand?

Australians can receive a full set of dentures in a single 10–14 day trip to Thailand. Clinics in Bangkok and Phuket specialise in fast-turnaround prosthetics. They often use in-house labs to complete fittings and adjustments. Immediate-loading systems and all-ceramic solutions allow for faster workflows for international patients.

  • Cost savings: Procedures cost from $400 to $600, saving up to 91% over Australia.
  • Clinical standards: Major centres like Bangkok International Dental Center hold JCI and ISO 9001:2008 certifications.
  • Specialist expertise: Dr Pawak Tungthangthum at Kitcha Dental Clinic trained in specialised implantology in the USA.
  • Quality materials: Providers use recognised brands including Straumann, Ivoclar Vivadent, and NobelDirect for durable results.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Thailand shines in high-volume centres like Bangkok International Dental Center. This clinic performs 15,000+ procedures annually. These centres often feature on-site labs and American Board-certified specialists. This setup allows for rapid "try-ins" and same-day adjustments that smaller clinics cannot match.

Patient Consensus: Choosing immediate dentures after extractions is the most realistic way to finish in one holiday. Build extra days into your stay for bite corrections and relines. This helps make sure the fit remains comfortable after flying back home.
