How Much Does Breast reduction Cost in Thailand in AUD?

In Thailand, breast reduction typically costs from AUD $2,110 / ฿A71,745 to AUD $6,893 / ฿A234,368. The final price depends on the surgical technique used, such as the Lollipop or Inverted T-scar method, and the clinic's location in Bangkok or Pattaya. Patients save around 76% by travelling to Thailand from Australia, where this procedure costs AUD $18,991 / ฿A645,707 on average. Packages usually include specialist consultations, 24-hour nursing care, hospital stays, and local transfers.

  • Inverted T technique: generally costs more than simpler methods due to surgical complexity.
  • Lollipop technique: often sits at a mid-range price point for moderate tissue removal.
  • Donut technique: typically the most affordable option, suitable for minor reductions or lifts.
  • Clinic accreditation: hospitals with JCI accreditation often charge a 15–20% premium for safety.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Choosing a comprehensive package in Bangkok provides excellent value for Australian patients. For example, Wansiri Hospital offers full-board packages for approximately A$8,500. These include three meals daily prepared by nutritionists and 24-hour nursing. Specialist surgeons like Dr. Chokchai Amornsawadwattana at Yanhee International Hospital even have specific training from the Royal Melbourne Hospital, bridging the gap between Thai and Australian medical standards.

Data verified by Bookimed as of August 2026, based on patient requests and official quotes from 394 clinics worldwide. Median costs are based on real invoices (2025–2026) and updated monthly. Actual prices may vary.

I am ecstatic with the results
Dr. Pyungtanasup was professional and did an incredible job. I am ecstatic with the results. The nurses were kind, helpful and gentle. The room was clean and comfortable. I was assisted whenever I needed and it made the first 24 hours much easier. I received antibiotics, painkillers, and anti-inflammatory medication which helped a lot when healing. Highly recommend Wansiri Hospital and the fantastic staff.
The nurses and the doctor were excellent. Very helpful and kind. The hospital has top-tier rooms and facilities.
The admin staff was a little slow. Keeping patients up-to-date with appointments and recovery progress is important. I also didn't enjoy the waiting time.
About Bookimed service

My surgeon handled that really well — he was upfront about how long healing would take and took time to explain and mark where the scars would sit before we even started
Recovery and scarring were my main concerns going in, and my surgeon handled that really well — he was upfront about how long healing would take and took time to explain and mark where the scars would sit before we even started. The whole body lift happened in one surgery, so it's still too soon to know how the final results will look. The clinic experience itself was a bit mixed — support after the surgery wasn't great, and I barely heard from anyone after I was discharged. On the bright side, there were no hidden or extra costs. My advice to anyone considering this: ask the practical questions upfront — whether the clinic provides meals or you'll need to order food yourself, and whether your surgery and recovery stay happen at the same facility or you'll be moved between a clinic and a hospital.
The doctors work was excellent
The clinic wasn't great for overnight stays and although some of the nursing staff were good at their tasks, it could take a long time for a need to be seen to though. I think the team there need to communicate better within themselves as to a client's needs that may need to be met by a specific team member, ie: if you inform reception that you require assistance that can only be given by a nursing attendant, you could wait for hours for that to be communicated and carried out.

FAQ about Breast reduction in Thailand

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

Is it safe for an Australian to undergo breast reduction surgery in Thailand?

Breast reduction surgery in Thailand is safe for Australians at accredited facilities. JCI-accredited Asia Cosmetic Hospital is one such facility. Surgeons like Dr Chokchai Amornsawadwattana trained at the Royal Melbourne Hospital. They follow international safety protocols to minimise risks like wound infections and deep vein thrombosis.

  • Hospital standards: Leading facilities like Yanhee International Hospital hold JCI accreditation and ISO certifications.
  • Surgeons: Doctors like Dr Tanongsak Panyawirunroj have performed 15,000+ plastic surgery procedures.
  • Safety protocols: Lelux Hospital uses HEPA air filtration in theatres to maintain sterile environments.
  • Post-op support: Packages often include 24-hour nurse services and 1-day hospital stays for monitoring.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Thai clinics frequently offer techniques like the Inverted T or Lollipop approach. These are available at significantly lower rates. While costs range from $1,500 to $4,900, the value lies in recovery support. High-tier packages at Wansiri Hospital even include nutritionist-led meal plans to support healing.

Patient Consensus: Australians find the nursing care exceptional and the recovery rooms very comfortable. It is vital to arrange a local follow-up plan for wound checks before flying home.

What is the recommended duration of stay in Thailand for a breast reduction procedure?

Patients should plan to stay in Thailand for 10 to 14 days for a breast reduction. This period covers consultations, surgery, and 1 to 2 nights of hospital monitoring. It also includes wound checks before the long flight back to Australia.

  • Clinical preparation: Initial days involve consultations and blood tests at facilities like Bumrungrad International Hospital.
  • Hospital monitoring: Packages at Wansiri Hospital include 1 night of inpatient care with 24-hour nursing.
  • Wound assessments: Surgeons typically perform checks and dressing changes on days 7 and 10.
  • Travel clearance: A 14-day stay reduces deep vein thrombosis risks during long-haul flights home.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Many clinics offer a 1-night hospital stay. However, choosing a full-board package can significantly improve recovery. Wansiri Hospital provides meals designed by nutritionists and 24-hour nursing. This support is vital when mobility is limited during the first 48 hours.

Patient Consensus: Planning at least 2 weeks in Thailand ensures enough time for initial healing. It also provides a safe buffer for required follow-up visits. Australians find the extra time essential for managing comfort before the long journey home.

What does the long-term recovery timeline involve for a breast reduction in Thailand?

The long-term recovery for breast reduction in Thailand spans 6 to 12 months. This allows internal tissues and nerves to mature. Physical healing occurs within weeks, but incisions require a full year to fade. Patients must stay in-country for 10 to 14 days before flying home.

  • Immediate healing: Hospital stays typically last 1 day at facilities like Wansiri Hospital or Bumrungrad International Hospital.
  • Initial recovery: Patients must wear a specialised medical compression bra continuously for the first 6 weeks.
  • Activity limits: Heavy lifting and high-impact exercise are restricted until the 8 to 12-week mark.
  • Final results: Breasts settle into their permanent shape and scars flatten significantly by 12 months.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Australian patients often choose surgeons with specific international training for a smoother transition home. Dr Chokchai Amornsawadwattana at Yanhee International Hospital, for example, completed breast reconstruction training at the Royal Melbourne Hospital. Selecting a surgeon familiar with Australian healthcare standards can simplify follow-up care with your GP.

Patient Consensus: Recovery in Thailand feels manageable because nurses are gentle and hospitals provide supportive post-op medications. Most patients find the first fortnight challenging due to tightness. However, they feel very pleased once the swelling settles after a few months.

Will a breast reduction performed in Thailand leave permanent scars?

Breast reduction in Thailand leaves permanent scars. All surgical procedures requiring incisions result in lifelong scar tissue. These marks typically fade from red or pink to fine, faint lines over 12 to 18 months. Thai surgeons place incisions so bras or swimwear easily conceal them.

  • Incision techniques: Clinics like Wansiri Hospital offer anchor, lollipop, and periareolar (donut) patterns.
  • Scar placement: Periareolar techniques leave minimal marks restricted strictly to the nipple border.
  • Healing support: Australian patients often receive post-op medications and wound dressing kits.
  • Surgeon expertise: Specialists like Dr Chokchai Amornsawadwattana have trained at the Royal Melbourne Hospital.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While basic clinics offer one standard approach, premium Bangkok hospitals provide technique-specific packages. Dr Jiraroch Meevassana at Wansiri Hospital offers distinct packages for lollipop and donut techniques. Choosing a surgeon who specialises in the donut method can significantly reduce the visible scar footprint.

Patient Consensus: Scars are permanent but usually fade into faint lines after a year. Patients highlight that following strict sun protection and using silicone products helps results. Many in Thailand feel the surgical outcome outweighs any visible marking.
