I couldn’t be happier with my decision to come here, and my flight back to Hawaii was smooth and stress-free
I had an amazing experience with Dr. Park and the entire team! From start to finish, everyone—especially Joanne—was incredibly accommodating and attentive, which made me feel safe and well cared for. Dr. Park did an incredible job on my breast augmentation. Remarkably, after just one day of recovery, I was able to walk around Seoul, use public transport, and see all the sights I wanted to visit. Although it was slightly uncomfortable at times, I never experienced significant pain beyond the first few hours after waking from anesthesia. I truly believe this speaks to Dr. Park’s precision—and maybe a little to my own fast healing! The clinic goes above and beyond for their patients. I received IV therapy, red light therapy, and hyperbaric oxygen therapy, all of which made me feel well supported throughout recovery. Dr. Park and the team checked in consistently, which is such a green flag—so different from many experiences in the U.S., where doctors often focus solely on the surgery itself. I couldn’t be happier with my decision to come here, and my flight back to Hawaii was smooth and stress-free. I highly recommend Dr. Park for anyone seeking attentive, professional care and excellent results.

That gave me a lot of confidence
I really appreciated the time my doctor took during the consultation for my forehead and frown lines. He was so thorough, explaining exactly where and why he would inject, and was very honest about what realistic results would look like after showing me photos of previous patients. That gave me a lot of confidence. Now in my early recovery, I'm feeling better than expected. It was a good process. The final price was exactly what I was quoted, with no additional expenses. My only note is that there was little contact from the clinic after my appointment, but overall the service was solid.
I’ve love how medical coordinator took care of everything !

If a friend asked me where to go for deep plane facelift 'd tell them about this clinic without hesitation. The process from start to finish was handled with such professionalism. I am still in the early stages of healing, so I am following all the aftercare instructions carefully. The surgeon was thorough, and the entire staff made me feel comfortable and well-cared-for throughout my visit. The facility was also very clean and modern. I am thankful for the support I received from the whole team.

FAQ about Lipolysis in Republic of Korea

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

What are the risks of lipolysis in Korea?

Lipolysis in Korea is generally safe when done by board-certified specialists with standardised techniques. Primary risks include temporary swelling, bruising, and localised nodules. Though rare, more serious complications can occur, such as infection, skin necrosis, or nerve irritation. This happens if injection protocols or sterilisation standards are not strictly followed.

  • Short-term effects: Patients commonly experience significant swelling for 7 days, with bruising lasting longer.
  • Tissue changes: Firm nodules or fibrosis may form, often requiring massage to resolve.
  • Ingredient transparency: Some clinics use custom concoctions; patients should confirm if steroids are included.
  • Systemic reactions: Specific ingredients like Aminophylline may cause itching, redness, or allergic sensitivity.
  • Infection risk: Rare cases of skin necrosis or lasting scars can follow improper sterilisation.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While lipolysis starts from $300, some patients mistakenly stack multiple non-surgical treatments to save time. Bookimed data shows that clinics like BIOFACE have 25,000 annual visitors and zero medical incidents. They focus on single-area precision. This helps avoid systemic strain and achieve symmetrical results.

Patient Consensus: Patients should expect heavy swelling on the first day. This can make the face or treated area look distorted. Korean clinics often use unique custom blends. Patients should always ask for a clear list of ingredients. This helps avoid unexpected hormonal side effects.

What are the most popular fat-dissolving (lipolysis) procedures in Korea?

Popular fat-dissolving procedures in Korea include V-OLET and LALI cut injections for facial contouring. Energy-based devices like InMode Body, ULFIT, and ONDA are also used. These non-surgical treatments target localised fat in the jawline and body. They offer minimal downtime in KOIHA-accredited Seoul clinics.

  • V-OLET injections: Deformity-approved deoxycholic acid treatment specifically for reducing stubborn submental fat (double chin).
  • Energy-based contouring: ULFIT and Scizer devices use ultrasound energy for affordable, non-invasive body fat reduction.
  • LALI cut injections: Targeted lipolysis technique used for precise body sculpting and refining natural body lines.
  • ONDA microwave therapy: Premium Italian technology treating fat, cellulite, and skin sagging in one session.
  • InMode Body: Radiofrequency system that destroys fat cells while tightening skin on larger areas.

Bookimed Expert Insight: A single session starts at A$400. However, Bookimed data shows that Korean clinics typically structure these as multi-session protocols. For visible results, specialists like Dr Jiyoun Kang at Lalian Cheongdam Clinic recommend 3–5 sessions. High-volume centres like BIOFACE Clinic serve 25,000+ patients annually. They often bundle these into cost-effective packages. The packages include 3D skin analysis to track fat reduction progress.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Korea find that matching the treatment to the specific area is vital. Injections work best for the V-line jawline. Machines like InMode or Scizer are more effective for body contouring. Patients can expect some bruising after body treatments. Most people resume normal activities immediately.

How do Korean fat-dissolving injections work?

Korean fat-dissolving injections use active ingredients like deoxycholic acid or phosphatidylcholine to break down fat cell membranes. The body then naturally eliminates these destroyed cells through the lymphatic system. These injections commonly target double chins and jawlines in Seoul clinics to achieve a refined V-line contour.

  • Custom formulations: Clinics often mix bespoke non-steroidal blends to reduce swelling and speed up results.
  • Approved options: Standardised treatments like V-OLET provide a consistent alternative to custom clinic-made injection mixes.
  • Treatment protocol: Optimal results typically require 3–5 sessions spaced 1–3 weeks apart for gradual contouring.
  • Recovery phase: Swelling and bruising often peak on day 2 and can last up to 4 weeks.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Many Australian patients expect a single visit. However, Bookimed data shows these procedures are most effective as a multi-session protocol. Clinics like BIOFACE, which serves 25,000 visitors annually, often recommend 3–5 sessions. Patients visiting Korea for a short holiday should consider this timeframe before booking.

Patient Consensus: Expect significant facial swelling by the second day and modest, natural-looking results that develop over a month. Korean clinics often use different active ingredients than those found in Australia, so always ask for the specific formulation.

What is the typical recovery time for lipolysis in Korea?

Recovery depends entirely on the chosen method. For fat-dissolving injections, swelling typically peaks within 3 days and clears within a week. Surgical liposuction requires 7–14 days in Seoul for follow-up care. Most patients return to light activities almost immediately after non-surgical treatments.

  • Non-surgical swelling: Noticeable inflammation lasts 1–3 days. Most patients resume daily holiday activities immediately.
  • Surgical downtime: Initial recovery takes 5–7 days. Desk work is usually manageable by day 7.
  • Clinical follow-ups: Surgeons like Dr Jiyoun Kang usually schedule vital check-ups for days 7–10.
  • Final results: Maximum effects appear at 3 months. Surgical results take 3–6 months to stabilise.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Many patients underestimate the stay required for surgical methods. While injection-based lipolysis costs from $300, surgical liposuction averages $1,300 to $7,000. This price gap reflects the intensive aftercare and required 14-day stay for those undergoing surgical contouring.

Patient Consensus: Injections cause temporary jaw squareness from inflammation. Swelling and bruising often mask results for several weeks. Walking around Seoul is comfortable within days. Most report zero pain after the first week.

What are the best areas to treat with lipolysis in Korea?

Lipolysis in Korea is most effective for refining facial contours and addressing small, stubborn fat pockets. The double chin and jawline remain the top treatment areas for achieving the V-line shape. The lower cheeks, abdomen, upper arms, and thighs are also frequently targeted for precise body sculpting.

  • Facial contouring: Reduces double chins and jowls to define the jawline and V-line.
  • Upper body: Targets flabby skin on the upper arms and stubborn bra line bulges.
  • Abdominal refining: Smooths persistent fat on the abdomen and love handles without invasive surgery.
  • Lower body: Refines the inner thighs and the area above the knees for leaner legs.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Lipolysis in Korea starts at about $300 per area. However, its true value lies in the specialised formulas used. Clinics like BIOFACE Clinic serve 25,000+ patients annually. They use proprietary injections that prioritise skin tightening alongside fat dissolution for better definition. Specialists like Dr Jiyoun Kang at Lalian Cheongdam Clinic use 3D MetaView skin analysis to map fat distribution before injecting. This makes results look natural relative to the patient's bone structure.

Patient Consensus: Patients focus almost entirely on the chin and jawline. They consider these the best treatment areas in Korea. They often say facial contouring gives the most visible and satisfying results compared to larger body zones.
