How Much Does Prosthesis of a tooth Cost in Republic of Korea in AUD?

A single tooth prosthesis in the Republic of Korea typically costs from AUD $1,294 to AUD $2,733. The final price depends on the choice of crown material, whether a titanium implant is required, and the technology used. Australians can save approximately 64% compared to local private fees, which average around AUD $5,609. Standard dental packages usually include the consultation, digital imaging, and the prosthetic device.

  • Dental implants: often cost between 20–30% more for premium Swiss brands like Straumann.
  • Zirconia crowns: typically range from 15–20% higher than traditional porcelain-fused-to-metal due to durability.
  • CAD/CAM technology: same-day crown manufacturing usually adds a 20–30% premium to the base price.
  • Seoul clinic locations: clinics in districts like Gangnam may charge 15–20% more than regional centres.

Bookimed Expert Insight: The Republic of Korea offers exceptional value through digital integration. Clinics like S-plant Dental Hospital use 3D-modelling for surgeries, helping to avoid costly adjustments. You can find specialists like Dr. Kang Inwon, who has performed 80,000+ procedures, providing a level of expertise rarely seen at these price points. Choosing a digital-first hospital often reduces the total number of visits needed.

Set aside more money for the treatment than is stated. Taxes were added on top at the clinic, and the dental cleaning also costs extra. I ended up with additional costs of around $100.
It was very easy to book the appointment, and on the day of the treatment everything went really quickly. Within an hour, my teeth were beautifully whitened.
One negative aspect was the lack of transparency regarding the costs. The description of the treatment suggested that, for $370, you would receive three sessions of bleaching plus a professional teeth clean. However, when I got there, I had to pay extra for the teeth cleaning, and on top of that, a hefty amount of tax was suddenly added to the total price, which meant the whole thing ended up costing nearly $100 more. Fortunately, I don’t trust anything, so I’d already factored in additional costs when planning my budget. Even so, it would be nice to be able to estimate the costs in advance.

FAQ about Prosthesis of a tooth in Republic of Korea

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

What is the success rate of dental implants in Korea?

Dental implants in the Republic of Korea have a very high success rate between 95% and 99.7%. Results depend on 3D digital navigation and the skill of specialists. Clinics like S-plant Dental Hospital report a 99.6% success rate using proprietary 3D modelling and Anatomage Guide software.

  • Clinical precision: Over 97% of clinics use 3D CT imaging for computer-guided implant placement.
  • Specialist experience: Surgeons like Dr Kang Inwon have performed over 80,000 successful dental operations.
  • Quality materials: Clinics use FDA-approved systems including Straumann, Astra, and the Korean brand Osstem.
  • High volume: S-plant Dental Hospital has placed over 23,000 implants with reported 98.8% long-term stability.

Bookimed Expert Insight: General dentists can perform implants. However, the highest success rates are achieved by specialists with Ministry of Health and Welfare certifications. Doctors like Dr Lim Gi-hyeon at 365 Seoul OneTop Dental Clinic are board-certified in oral surgery. This is vital for complex sinus lifts or zygomatic implants.

Patient Consensus: Patients describe results as looking completely real with no functional issues even 4 years later. Success requires a 6-month commitment. Rushing from extraction to crown placement can lead to loose screws.

What are the best dental implant brands used in Korea?

South Korea is a global hub for dental technology, led by Osstem (branded internationally as Hiossen), Dentium, and MegaGen. These domestic brands offer success rates and bone integration comparable to premium European systems like Straumann and Nobel Biocare. However, they cost significantly less.

  • Osstem Implant: South Korea's largest manufacturer, known for high success rates and wide availability.
  • Dentium: Favoured for natural aesthetics, advanced surface technology, and excellent long-term stability.
  • MegaGen: Acclaimed for AnyRidge systems, which allow for faster healing and immediate-load cases.
  • Premium alternatives: Top Seoul clinics also offer Straumann and Astra for superior healing speed.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While Osstem is the standard value choice, Korean specialists like Dr. Lim Gi-hyeon often use MegaGen for complex full-arch reconstructions. Leading clinics like S-plant Dental Hospital maintain a 99.6% success rate. They achieve this by combining top-tier brands with proprietary 3D modelling technology.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Korea recommend Osstem for the best value. Those prioritising faster recovery often request premium Straumann implants. Expert clinics in Gangnam are frequently praised for having English-speaking dentists and managing the entire six-month process efficiently.

What types of prosthetics are available in Korean clinics?

Korean clinics provide a broad range of dental prosthetics, specialising in implant systems like All-on-4, All-on-6, and full-arch All-on-X reconstructions. Leading facilities in Seoul use 3D modelling and digital tracking. They create custom crowns, veneers, and fixed dentures for functional and aesthetic restoration.

  • Implant systems: Clinics offer Osstem, MegaGen, and Astra systems for single or multiple tooth loss.
  • Full-mouth restorations: Solutions include FP1 and FP2 fixed dentures for complete smile rehabilitation.
  • Aesthetic prosthetics: On-site labs produce Emax ceramic crowns and veneers for precise, natural-looking fits.
  • Techniques: Specialists perform zygomatic implants and sinus floor augmentation for patients with bone loss.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While many centres use global brands, Korean-made Osstem implants are the local standard. S-plant Dental Hospital alone has placed 23,000+ units. Clinics with on-site labs, like those in Gangnam, often ensure a 99.6% success rate. This is achieved through proprietary 3D modelling.

Patient Consensus: Patients in the Republic of Korea find custom Osstem implants paired with ceramic crowns highly effective. They suggest checking if quotes include extras like bone grafts, temporary crowns, and medication. This avoids unexpected costs.

What advanced technology is used in Korean dental clinics?

Korean dental clinics lead globally by integrating 3D-guided navigation, on-site digital labs, and AI-powered diagnostics. These facilities use proprietary 3D modelling and Anatomage Guide software. This helps them achieve a 99.6% implant success rate. Digital workflows deliver precision and significantly faster treatment times for international patients.

  • 3D-guided surgery: Uses Anatomage software to map bone structure before placing implants.
  • On-site CAD/CAM labs: Produces E.max ceramic crowns and veneers during a single visit.
  • Minimal-prep veneers: Requires only 0.3–0.6 mm tooth reduction, preserving natural enamel structure.
  • Premium implant systems: Standard use of Osstem and MegaGen provides global maintenance compatibility.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Many countries use standard X-rays. Top Seoul clinics, like 365 Seoul OneTop Dental Clinic, take a different approach. They integrate 3D mandible CT diagnostics into the first appointment. This digital foundation allows surgeons to perform complex All-on-4 or Zygomatic procedures with millimetre accuracy. It often reduces total visits by half compared to Australian dental practices.

Patient Consensus: Patients describe the tech as years ahead of home. They note that hi-tech X-rays and digital scans are standard arrival procedures in Korea. The efficiency of these digital systems makes appointments fast. They also provide an immaculate, modern clinical environment.

How many trips to Korea are required for a tooth prosthetic?

Most patients require 2 separate trips to the Republic of Korea for a tooth prosthetic. The first trip involves placing the implant fixture, followed by a 3–6 month healing period at home. A second trip is then necessary to attach the final permanent crown.

  • First trip duration: Plan for 7–10 days for initial consultation, extraction, and implant placement.
  • Healing period: Osseointegration requires 3–6 months for the implant to fuse with the jawbone.
  • Second trip duration: Patients return for 1 week to fit the abutment and final crown.
  • Bone grafting: If bone volume is low, an extra trip for grafting is often needed.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Many sources suggest a 100% success rate is possible. However, S-plant Dental Hospital maintains a realistic 99.6% success rate using proprietary 3D modelling. This precision often allows for same-day crown fabrication at their on-site lab. This can streamline the second trip significantly.

Patient Consensus: Australians often choose Republic of Korea despite the 5–6 month healing period. This is because total costs remain lower than local treatment. Remote X-ray consultations are highly recommended. They can confirm if bone grafting will add a third trip to the timeline.

Is English spoken in Korean dental clinics?

Most dental clinics in South Korea, particularly in Seoul districts like Gangnam and Itaewon, provide English-speaking services. Leading specialists often hold degrees from US or Australian universities. Facilities like Seoul National University Bundang Hospital maintain Global Healthcare Accreditation (GHA). This accreditation is specifically for serving international patients.

  • International credentials: Many dentists graduated from Seoul National University or trained at Harvard Medical School.
  • Specialised clinics: Facilities like The Oaks in Gangnam provide all dental services entirely in English.
  • Staff proficiency: Head doctors such as Dr Sungho Kim at Gangnam Gentle Dental are fluent.
  • Australian connection: Some clinics, like Dogu Dental, feature dentists who previously practised in Australia.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Clinics with American university names like Upenn or Michigan almost always have US-trained dentists. Many Seoul clinics have one English-speaking staffer. However, these specifically branded clinics guarantee fluent clinical communication. This is vital for complex prosthesis work where precise adjustments are necessary.

Patient Consensus: Patients find that major Seoul clinics cater perfectly to English speakers without needing external translators. Some dentists even have experience working in Australia. This makes the transition much easier for those visiting from abroad.
