I’d give the hospital 5 points
I’ll deduct one point because of the transfer. I was supposed to be at the hospital at 6.00. We’d agreed that they’d pick me up at 5.40. I waited until 5.55, but they didn’t come to pick me up, even though I’d texted and phoned them. They turned up just as I’d already walked there myself. Overall, though, I coped very well with the anaesthetic and haven’t felt any pain at all. I’d give the hospital 5 points.

I feel renewed
Successfully myomectomy Surgery My uterus, my decision: First of all, I am genuinely grateful to Prof Cem Iyibozkurt of Florence Nightingale Istanbul for saving my uterus, which doctors in the UK have declared damaged and useless and saying that the only option for me was a hysterectomy, and I was totally against it. I recently had a successful myomectomy at the end of March 2025, which removed 81 fibroids, and the largest fibroid was a size 21x20 cm. I was diagnosed with multiple fibroids in August 2023, which were in different locations. I had a protruded stomach, and I looked like 6 months pregnant. The fibroids also pressed on my pelvic nerves, causing my left leg to swell and causing excruciating pain. They were also pressing on my internal organs, causing my kidneys to swell, and I became incontinent because they were pressing on my bladder, and I could not empty the bladder. My menstrual blood was so heavy I had to request my employer to work remotely during my menstrual month as I needed to change pads regularly or change clothes in case they had overflowed. I researched and came across Prof Cem Iyibozkurt with the help of Bookemed medical coordinator Olha and medical coordinator Alisher, who arranged my first video consultation with Prof Cem Iyibozkurt. After a video consultation, I agreed on the date for my surgery, and then Olha and Alisher arranged all my appointments, hospital transportation, and airport pick-up. I am genuinely grateful that my surgery went successfully. I spent 3 days in the hospital. On the discharge day, I felt good and confident enough to walk and had less pain around the stomach area. Today is week 4, past surgery; my scar is healing beautifully and is invisible. You won't even know that I just had a myomectomy surgery. All the discomfort I used to have is gone. No more incontinence pads and my left leg no longer causes pain or gets swollen. I feel renewed. I would recommend Prof Cem Iyibozkurt and Florence Nightingale Istanbul Hospital to any woman looking for the best doctor and hospital for myomectomy surgery.
I liked all the arrangements from the first time I contacted the medical coordinators to the last day I returned to my home country. They were kind, good listeners and responded to my specific demands.
I have no complaints

I liked the availability and competence of the teams. My operation went very well. What I didn't like was the fact that some of the post-operative tests were not included in the initial bill, the post-operative follow-up was not respected, and such an important appointment was missed... All in all, I'd highly recommend the service, as the expertise is...

"I think I made the right choice by choosing this clinic
The first time they flew to the clinic for a checkup back in March. And already at the end of May they flew in for an operation. Literally half a day to prepare for the operation, hospitalization early in the morning, European-level ward (5 star hotel). They brought a bathrobe and slippers. I just managed to put on the issued stockings, and I was already invited to the operation. The operation took 4 hours, brought immediately to the ward. Well, as usual, a departure from anesthesia, but by the evening she was already moving around. She stayed in the hospital for 2 days after the operation. This is constant monitoring by medical, middle and junior staff. There are many translators, which is very convenient. They fed not only me, but also my husband, who was nearby. Water, tea and coffee were constantly replenished. Discharged 2 days after the operation. So far so good, I'm following the doctor's recommendations. I think I made the right choice by choosing this clinic. I recommend to everyone.

FAQ about Surgical excision of fibroadenoma in Turkey

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

Which cities in Turkey are the best for surgical excision of a fibroadenoma?

Istanbul is the top city for fibroadenoma excision in Turkey, with the highest concentration of JCI-accredited hospitals and multidisciplinary breast clinics. Ankara provides high-tier clinical infrastructure for complex cases. Antalya and Izmir combine advanced private surgical care with resort-style recovery environments.

  • Medical hub: Istanbul has the largest network of internationally accredited hospitals for surgery.
  • Clinical excellence: Ankara offers university-backed private facilities that specialise in oncological and general surgery.
  • Resort recovery: Antalya and Izmir provide high-standard surgical care in relaxed Mediterranean settings.
  • Accredited facilities: Leading centres like Anadolu Medical Center hold JCI and ISO certifications.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While Istanbul is the popular choice, Ankara is often preferred for oncological care. Patients seeking surgical excision should prioritise hospitals like Hisar Intercontinental or Anadolu Medical Center. These centres handle pathology on-site, which is vital for confirming clear margins and providing peace of mind after the procedure.

Patient Consensus: Patients recommend choosing major hospitals in Istanbul or Ankara for reliable pre-operative imaging and complication management. Access to on-site pathology and experienced breast surgeons in Turkey supports a smooth recovery and clear follow-up instructions for the return home.

Is a pathological examination included after fibroadenoma removal in Turkey?

Pathological examination is standard medical protocol in Turkey following surgical excision of a fibroadenoma. Surgeons routinely send all extracted breast tissue to a laboratory for histopathological analysis. This confirms the mass is benign and rules out rare conditions such as phyllodes tumours.

  • Standard protocol: Turkish surgeons send all removed tissue for analysis to confirm benign status.
  • Package inclusions: Many Istanbul clinics bundle preoperative tests and surgical fees into one price.
  • Verification: Patients should confirm if lab fees are bundled or billed as extras.
  • Reporting: Australian patients need a written pathology report in English for their local GP.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While basic packages starting at A$2,200 focus on the surgery, premium options at Memorial hospitals often include preoperative screenings. Experienced surgeons like Dr Nuri Alper Sahbaz at Hisar Hospital maintain high standards in JCI-accredited facilities. Patients should clarify if pathology is a separate line item before booking.

Patient Consensus: Surgeons often explain that sending tissue to the lab is mandatory protocol even for non-suspicious lumps. Having a clear report for the GP back in Australia provides immense peace of mind.

What is the recovery process after fibroadenoma excision in Turkey?

Recovery from fibroadenoma excision in Turkey is rapid. Most patients return to light activity within 2 days. The procedure is typically a day surgery under local or general anaesthesia. International patients usually spend 3 to 7 days in-country for follow-up and results.

  • Hospital stay: Patients typically spend 1 day or less in the facility for monitoring.
  • Initial recovery: Mild soreness, bruising, and swelling are managed with oral pain relievers.
  • Activity limits: Avoid heavy lifting and vigorous upper-body exercise for 1 to 2 weeks.
  • Post-op support: Wearing a supportive sports bra helps minimise movement and reduces site swelling.
  • Wound check: A follow-up appointment occurs after 5 to 7 days to review pathology results.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Many clinics offer base surgery for $1,200. Premium packages at JCI-accredited centres like Memorial Şişli include all-inclusive tumour removal. They cover removal regardless of how many incisions are needed. This is ideal for patients with multiple fibroadenomas seeking a fixed-price solution.

Patient Consensus: The first 48 hours are the hardest due to swelling, but pain is mostly mild. Ice packs and snug sports bras help manage bruising and yellowing in Turkey.

What techniques are used to remove fibroadenomas in Turkish clinics?

Turkish clinics use various techniques to remove fibroadenomas. These include open surgical excision for large masses and minimally invasive vacuum-assisted removal (VABB). Specialists at JCI-accredited facilities offer local or general anaesthesia options. These include Anadolu Medical Center and Memorial Şişli Hospital. They often perform these as day procedures.

  • Open surgical excision: Primary method for large or rapidly growing masses over 4 cm.
  • Vacuum-assisted removal: Minimally invasive VABB uses ultrasound guidance to fragment and suction tissue.
  • Hidden-scar approach: Surgeons place incisions along the areola edge to reduce visible scarring.
  • Mass fragmentation: Specific tools break apart large lumps to allow removal through smaller punctures.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Basic removal starts from $1,200. However, most Australian patients choose Memorial Şişli or Anadolu Medical Center for their JCI accreditation. These centres often include 1-day hospital stays in their A$7,100 packages. This provides monitoring that simple clinic-based procedures may lack.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Turkey report that open surgical excision provides the most definitive extraction. Many find VABB nearly painless under local anaesthesia. They also appreciate how surgeons hide incisions along the areola edge.

What is included in a typical medical package for fibroadenoma excision in Turkey?

Typical fibroadenoma excision packages in Turkey include the surgical procedure and anaesthesia. They also cover a 1-day hospital stay. Comprehensive bundles often add preoperative consultations, diagnostic blood tests, and pathology analysis. Patients usually receive VIP airport transfers. They also get recovery hotel accommodation for 2–8 nights as a standard inclusion.

  • Surgical fees: Covers the operating theatre, surgical team, and anaesthetist fees.
  • Diagnostic tests: Includes preoperative blood work and a consultation with the specialist.
  • Clinical stay: Typically involves a 1-day inpatient stay for monitoring and nursing.
  • Pathology analysis: Laboratory testing to confirm the benign nature of the removed tissue.
  • Logistics: VIP transfers between the airport, hotel, and hospital are commonly bundled.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Basic packages start from $1,200. Higher-tier options include total excision regardless of the number of tumours. One example is Memorial Şişli Hospital. This is a significant advantage for patients with multiple fibroadenomas. It avoids per-tumour surcharges common in other countries.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Turkey find the upfront all-inclusive pricing much simpler. The separate billing used in Australia, by contrast, is more complicated. Many packages include lymphatic massage, recovery garments, and meals. This makes the post-surgery week very comfortable.

Why do patients choose Turkey for fibroadenoma excision?

Patients choose Turkey for fibroadenoma excision. They gain access to specialised breast surgeons and JCI-accredited facilities. These facilities do not have the long waiting lists common in Australia. The procedure typically costs from $1,200 to $2,000. This provides significant savings compared to the $3,900 Australian average.

  • Specialist expertise: Surgeons like Dr. Nuri Alper Sahbaz at Hisar Hospital hold European Board certifications.
  • Rapid access: Private clinics schedule consultations and surgical removals almost immediately to avoid delays.
  • Accredited safety: Major centres like Memorial Şişli Hospital maintain rigorous JCI-accredited safety standards.
  • Comprehensive care: Most packages include preoperative tests, specialist consultations, and 1 day of hospitalisation.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Basic surgery starts at $1,200. However, multi-specialty centres like Anadolu Medical Center provide a unique safety net. This comes through their affiliation with Johns Hopkins Hospital. This allows patients to receive US-standard oncological protocols at Turkish price points. This is particularly valuable for complex or multiple benign tumours.

Patient Consensus: Removing a lump provides immense emotional relief. So patients choose Turkey to avoid slow local healthcare systems. The bundled care includes transfers and nursing support. This makes the entire surgical journey feel smooth and well-organised.
