How Much Does Enucleation with implant insertion Cost in Turkey in AUD?

Enucleation with implant insertion in Turkey typically costs from AUD $3,487 to AUD $6,276. Total pricing depends on the surgical technique, the choice of eye implant material, and the specialist's expertise level. In Australia, patients often pay around AUD $11,436, meaning they can save approximately 57% by travelling for treatment. Standard Turkish surgical bundles usually include the implant, local anaesthesia, preoperative tests, and postoperative follow-up examinations.

  • Surgeon experience: Costs often increase for professors who have performed over 20,000 surgeries.
  • Type of implant: Prices vary based on whether spherical or advanced porous implants are selected.
  • City location: JCI-accredited clinics in Istanbul may cost 15–20% more than facilities in Izmir.
  • Clinic specialisation: Facilities dedicated solely to ophthalmology often provide highly competitive inclusive surgical packages.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Choosing a specialist like Dr. Ahmet Satici, who has performed over 20,000 surgeries, provides exceptional value. High-tier packages, costing approximately A$8,400, often include extensive diagnostics like autorefractometry and multiple follow-up visits. Clinics such as VM Medical Park Florya or Dunyagoz Eye Hospital are popular with Australians due to JCI accreditation and their status as robotic surgery centres of excellence.

It was a very good experience for us and we are grateful for the treatment provided
It was a very good experience for us, and I will use this service in the future if necessary. All the answers to my questions were given. Everything is very organized. They have their own counter at the airport, where they arranged a transfer for us and brought us comfortably to the hotel. We were accompanied everywhere. The price of the service was as agreed in advance. There were no additional payments. I only spent money on my husband's eye drops at the pharmacy, but they're sold at affordable prices. The hospital is very modern, it's a large complex, there's a university nearby. The hospital has a special department for dealing with foreign clients. We didn't run, we weren't looking for anything, Mustafa was with us all the time and made arrangements for everything himself. There were a few days between the diagnosis and surgery, and we managed to book several tours of Istanbul. It helped us relieve the tension of worrying about the surgery. My husband has an agimatism, he got the best lenses in the world that exist right now. These lenses were made specifically for the parameters of his eye. It's been less than a week since the surgery, but my husband says he can see some things even better than he had with glasses before. The rehabilitation is not over yet, he has to drip eye drops on schedule for a month, take care of eyes, and don't lift heavy things and rub eyes. The doctors have done their job, now a lot depends on how clearly my husband adheres to the doctor's recommendations. It was a very good experience for us and we are grateful for the treatment provided.

My biggest shock was that the initial agreement was completely different from the reality. After I arrived, I was forced to accept new prices and couldn’t go to another clinic. I had Botox injections for my forehead and frown lines, and of course it’s still too early to judge the results. That said, the clinic itself was good and the doctor took the time to carefully mark the injection points, which I really appreciated. However, my experience with the staff was extremely poor. One must also take into account the additional costs of accommodation, flights and transport. For this reason, based on this experience, I would not recommend that any patient travel to Turkey for treatment.

What I particularly valued was the continuity of care from the surgeon
If you're researching laser eye surgery, the small details of the process are what matter. I opted for the TransPRK procedure. The clinic's protocol involved operating on each of my eyes on separate days, which I viewed as a careful and methodical approach to the surgery. What I particularly valued was the continuity of care from the surgeon. They personally handled every single one of my checkups, from the first consultation to all the follow-up appointments, ensuring I was seeing the same expert throughout. That was important. As I'm still in the early recovery phase, having a clear aftercare guide has been essential, and the one provided was very comprehensive. From a practical standpoint, every aspect of the service, including the surgeon, the support staff, and the clinic environment, was well-executed and professional.

The recovery so far is better than expected
If you're considering this procedure, my main advice is to bring a physical card for payment. I used Apple Pay, which had a low transaction limit and forced me to make about 20 separate payments to cover the cost. Medically, everything was straightforward. I had lens replacement in both eyes on the same day, and the recovery so far is better than expected. my doctor, who took the time to explain which technique suited my eyes and was very honest about the realistic vision outcome I could anticipate. I must also say a huge thank you to the night nurse ( mirve ) I think was her name she was outstanding and took good care of me . It was reassuring that there were no additional expenses. The one thing to note is that there was little contact from the clinic after I left, but the core service was solid.
I can’t speak highly enough of the treatment from all staff especially mirve who looked after me through the night she came every hour to do my drops until I asked her to come at 6.00 in morning she gave me an extension number incase I needed anything before six , which I did at 5.00am she immediately came to my room and sorted my issue the operation went perfect and after only two days I can see better than I have in the last 18 years 👌👍👌 thank you everyone

I am very impressed with the quality and standard of the whole process
Communication was great. I was picked up from the hotel, transfered to the hospital, and accompanied by Adam (translator) through the journey. He knew exactly the intake process and what they would want. He was well organized and very friendly. The consultant spoke English and was very calm, and professional. I had femto iLasik which was without complication. Pre-op my prescription was -7. Day 0 post op, I could still see but with blurry vision. Day 1 post op, my vision is now 20/20. But eyes feel gritty but hopefully will ease in a few days. I am very impressed with the quality and standard of the whole process. I would highly recommend Turkey for medical tourism. It's affordable and a beautiful clean city to visit as well. Stupendous experience.

I can wholeheartedly recommend the Memorial Şişli Clinic
I can wholeheartedly recommend the Memorial Şişli Clinic. I underwent a deep anterior lamellar keratoplasty (DALK) on my left eye, and I now feel better than I had expected. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the coordinating doctor, Sergey, and Dr Abdallah ÖZCAYA for their expertise and responsible approach. I particularly remember how Dr ÖZCAYA personally checked on me after the operation — this gave me confidence and peace of mind. The clinic was always available, and there were no additional costs. A special thank you to the interpreter, Daniela, for her excellent translation and constant help with communication.

I recommend bookimed
My husband and I traveled from New Zealand to both get eye lens replacement surgery. From the start we have had print and effient communication. With every question answered. We were picked up from the airport, taken to hotel, then the same day at our request taken to the hospital for our appointment. Two days later we were in having eye surgery again with pick ups and drop offs. We were met at the hospital entrance, by bookimed.com translators and hospital translators they were amazing every day, in every way. The doctors were provisional and onto it, explaining every detail, and answering all our questions. Our procedure went very well and we are very happy with the outcome and how amazing we can see, no longer with glasses or contacts. I recommend bookimed.com to everyone. Vikki

Being able to see the world clearly really does change the quality of life
I’d like to leave a positive review of the Dünyagöz clinic and Bookimed, the company that helped me find this clinic. First and foremost, I’d like to highlight the high standard of service at the Dünyagöz clinic. Upon arrival, I was promptly met and immediately provided with an interpreter. So there is absolutely no need to worry about the language barrier — both Russian and English are available here. The interpreter accompanies you at every stage: from the initial consultation right through to the operation itself. This is very important, as eye care requires a precise understanding of all your concerns and the doctor’s recommendations. I was also pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness and comfort of the wards. All the staff are very friendly, helpful and always ready to assist with any queries. Another definite plus was the full board: breakfast, lunch and dinner are included, so you don’t have to worry about practical matters and can focus entirely on your treatment and recovery. I would like to express my special thanks to Bookimed. Throughout the entire process, you are supported by a personal coordinator who helps organise your trip, answers questions and provides all the necessary details. My coordinator was Anastasia, and I am sincerely grateful to her for her support. She was available practically 24/7 and even helped with matters not directly related to the clinic. It was on her recommendation that I chose Dünyagöz. What’s more, Anastasia herself had previously had her vision corrected at the same clinic, so she was able to share her personal experience. Now we are both delighted with the result and can confidently recommend this clinic to others. If you’ve been thinking about vision correction for a while, there’s no need to be afraid or put off the decision. After the operation, you realise you should have done it much sooner. Being able to see the world clearly really does change the quality of life. I wish everyone good luck, good health and nothing but positive experiences with their new, clear vision!

What really stood out was how my doctor took the time to show me what to expect with each lens type after testing my eyes thoroughly, which helped me confidently choose the multifocal option
What really stood out was how my doctor took the time to show me what to expect with each lens type after testing my eyes thoroughly, which helped me confidently choose the multifocal option. He performed the surgery personally on both of my eyes the same day. My recovery is going about as expected, and the clinic provided a clear aftercare guide. Just be prepared for the other costs. Of course, I had to pay for my flight, a two-week hotel stay, and also a required $150 medical insurance policy on top of the clinic's price.

My distance vision is now crystal clear at 20/20, which is a massive change from my previous prescription in the -3 to -6 diopter range
My biggest worry before getting LASIK was the risk of side effects like long-term dry eyes or glare. I can honestly say my recovery has been very straightforward so far. I’ve had no dryness at all, and even better, I haven’t noticed any halos or glare in low light, which was a huge relief for me. My distance vision is now crystal clear at 20/20, which is a massive change from my previous prescription in the -3 to -6 diopter range. Overall, the whole process was solid. Of course, everyone’s experience will vary, and when I was researching beforehand, I saw many people discussing side effects that I personally did not experience at all. I had the LASIK treatment rather than SMILE, so this review is based on my own LASIK experience. Make sure to do all your research beforehand. If your main concern is whether the clinic is good to get the procedure done, then in simple terms, yes, it is. Like any place, there are things outside of the actual surgery that could be improved, but I would recommend looking through reviews carefully and moving forward with what you personally feel comfortable and confident with.
The staff were good, the room provided was also great, and the surgery went very fast and smoothly with no issues at all. Everyone was kind and helpful throughout the experience. The staff who brought the food and checked in were especially nice. There was one individual in particular I’m not sure of his name, but he spoke English and was incredibly sweet, always checking in and asking if everything was okay. He definitely made the whole experience much better and more comfortable.
One area for improvement would be communication, as English seems to be limited mainly to the coordinator and doctor . If you need to ask other staff or reception for help or information, it can sometimes be a little difficult to navigate. I would recommend having a translation app available and making sure you have your in-hospital coordinator’s contact number handy, as following things up through reception or other staff is not easy . There was also a slight issue with payment, so I would recommend having a backup payment method or checking beforehand what to do if the card machine does not work, since payments are handled directly there. This is especially important if you are travelling from abroad, as I travelled from the UK.

It’s so world changing to be able to see clearly again!
Overall, the experience was very much worth. It’s so world changing to be able to see clearly again! The cost was so much better than in the US, and I was also able to get the lens I wanted that is not available in the US yet. Other than a false assumption about where my hotel was located, and the drivers having difficulty finding me, the only perimeter went pretty smoothly. I’m happy with the outcome. I would only suggest that there be at least one nurse or medical staff besides the doctor who speaks English. Many more paranoid, or less traveled Americans would have a hard time going through that honestly. I feel the service is very worth iit overall, those are just some recommendations to make the service excellent and a no-brainer for Americans who need medical procedures.

The doctor who performed my surgery, Alperen Koç, was outstanding
My Experience with Bookimed and VM Medical Park Hospital in Istanbul I recently had surgery in Turkey, and I must say, my coordinator Olya was an incredible professional. She was with me every step of the way, always available 24/7, a true angel! Thanks to her, I chose this hospital and Turkey instead of the Czech Republic. Olya’s support was crucial in my decision, and I’m forever grateful to her. Special thanks to our guide Said, who was always available, no matter the time of day or night. He helped resolve every issue between me and the clinic, providing a smooth experience throughout the process. The doctor who performed my surgery, Alperen Koç, was outstanding. From the initial consultation to the operation itself, everything went smoothly, quickly, and painlessly. He’s truly a high-level professional who’s there to treat patients rather than make money off them. I deeply appreciate all of his care and expertise. A week has passed since the surgery, and I feel good, though my vision hasn’t fully returned yet. However, this is normal, and I’m confident that it will improve over time. I can confidently recommend Bookimed and VM Medical Park Hospital in Istanbul. Cons: The main downside of my experience was with the hospital’s billing department. They requested payment in cash, but we were not informed about this before traveling to Turkey. If you want to pay by card, they charge a 20% commission, which is an unreasonably high fee. I’d also like to mention someone named Timur (I don’t remember his last name). In front of patients, he was speaking in Russian with a female colleague, assuming we didn’t understand the language. They said something like, “People are so stupid; it’s hard to work with such dumb people.” This kind of behavior is completely unacceptable in the presence of patients. Such conversations seriously undermine the clinic’s reputation and are inappropriate in a professional healthcare setting. Therefore, I strongly advise anyone planning a visit to clarify all financial and organizational details
About Bookimed service

The process of selecting the clinic and arranging everything was smooth and well-organized, thanks to her. I highly recommend their services for anyone seeking medical care abroad.

Overall I have to give the bookimed team a top rating
The staff at Bookimed from the initial off-set answered all my questions, queries promptly. I was nervous with feelings swaying about my treatment. Upon arrival in Turkey from the airport transfer onwards, I have got to say all doubts were a contrast as to what I witnessed and to the treatment I received. On the first day the hotel staff were welcoming by the way I stayed local to VMH University Hospital Istanbul Besyol, at a budget I chose the World Point Hotel 700 meters away (Ramada Hotel was even closer.) I'm not arguing with what I paid, hygiene, cleanliness, manners, availability of staff, room, I got and witnessed. The transfer to the Hospital l walked with my translator, who put all my nerves and questions I had to bed, I must say I felt alot better. On arrival I was astounded, the smell of freshness, clean, I had to ask the translator how many floors 9 was the reply, Big, busy different ethnicities different cultures, vast array of people from all parts of the world, I felt comfortable. The level of equipment, the Doctors, staff members would not go amiss in any Country. The treatment I received the interaction which you have with the Doctor was of great effect to me as the knowledge about my treatment gained was instrumental in what was to happen. Overall I have to give the bookimed team a top rating. I would recommend anyone who is thinking of surgery abroad of any kind to get in touch with them, I can assure you, you will not be disappointed. Thank you.

FAQ about Enucleation with implant insertion in Turkey

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

Why do patients choose Turkey for enucleation with implant insertion?

Patients choose Turkey for enucleation with implant insertion. They are drawn by highly experienced oculoplastic surgeons, JCI-accredited eye hospitals, and rapid surgical scheduling. Specialists often hold international fellowships from Johns Hopkins or the European Board of Ophthalmology. They manage complex ocular tumours and trauma cases efficiently.

  • Surgical expertise: Surgeons like Dr Ahmet Satici have performed 20,000+ successful operations.
  • Technology: Clinics utilise OCT and corneal topography for precise orbital surgical planning.
  • Accredited facilities: Leading centres like Dunyagoz Eye Hospital maintain JCI and ISO certifications.
  • Efficiency: Private hospitals in Istanbul often schedule surgery within days, avoiding Australian waitlists.
  • Bundle inclusions: Many packages include language assistance, preoperative tests, and text-based follow-up care.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Basic surgery costs start from $2,500. However, high-volume clinics like Private Bagcilar Safak Hospital provide comprehensive A$8,300 packages. These include autorefractometry and video consultations. This is vital for Australian patients needing remote follow-up after returning home.

Patient Consensus: Patients value how clinics in Turkey handle all logistics including translators and transport. The professional, transparent approach of surgeons makes the process less stressful than expected.

What is usually not included in the cost of enucleation with implant insertion in Turkey?

Enucleation with implant insertion in Turkey usually excludes the custom ocular prosthesis, international flights, and specialised medications for long-term recovery. While surgical quotes cover the internal orbital implant and hospital stay, the hand-painted external shell and extended hotel accommodation are typically additional costs.

  • Ocular prosthesis: External prosthetic shells are rarely included in surgical packages.
  • Travel expenses: International flights and visa fees remain the patient's responsibility.
  • Lodging and transfers: Packages at clinics like Private Bagcilar Safak Hospital exclude accommodation.
  • Medications: Ongoing antibiotic drops and painkillers often require separate out-of-pocket payment.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Turkish eye clinics often separate the internal implant surgery from the external prosthetic fitting. The socket needs weeks to heal. Patients often find it cheaper to have the prosthesis made by an ocularist back in Australia rather than staying in Istanbul for a month.

Patient Consensus: Always request an itemised breakdown to see if airport transfers, hotel nights, and follow-up scans are bundled. Most patients in Turkey had to arrange their own flights. They also found that accommodation was not always part of the headline price.

What is generally included in a medical tourism package for enucleation with implant insertion in Turkey?

Enucleation packages in Turkey generally bundle surgical fees, ophthalmic implants, and clinical care within JCI-accredited facilities. These packages often include pre-operative tests, surgeon fees, local anaesthesia, and follow-up examinations. Some providers also include language assistance and initial video consultations to coordinate care before travel.

  • Clinical components: Covers surgeon fees, operating theatre costs, and essential pre-operative diagnostics like autorefractometry.
  • Implant insertion: Includes the standard orbital implant and local anaesthesia required for the procedure.
  • Support services: Provides multilingual interpreters and dedicated patient coordinators to assist during hospital appointments.
  • Post-operative care: Includes follow-up visits and examinations to monitor healing before the return flight.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While many procedures in Istanbul offer full logistics, enucleation packages often focus heavily on clinical inclusions. For instance, Dr. Ahmet Satici’s package at Private Bagcilar Safak Hospital prioritises surgical expertise. It emphasises his 20,000+ cases over hotel bundles. Patients should verify if accommodation is excluded to avoid unexpected out-of-pocket costs.

Patient Consensus: Clinics in Turkey handle most logistics, including airport pickups and paperwork. So you can focus on recovery. Confirm if the implant and all follow-up visits are in the flat price before booking.

How long do I need to stay in Turkey for enucleation with implant insertion and recovery?

Patients typically stay in Turkey for 10 to 14 days. This covers enucleation with implant insertion and complete initial recovery. The stay includes pre-operative testing, the surgery, and follow-up checks. These confirm the orbital socket is stable before flying back to Australia.

  • Clinical timeline: Surgeons require 10–14 days for monitoring early healing and potential haemorrhage.
  • Hospital stay: Most patients remain in the theatre-linked ward for 1–2 nights post-surgery.
  • Pressure dressing: A tight pad remains over the socket for approximately 7 days.
  • Flying clearance: Specialists provide travel clearance once swelling subsides and infection risks decrease.
  • Prosthetic delay: Socket healing takes 6–8 weeks before a custom artificial eye is fitted.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Turkish ophthalmology centres like Dunyagoz serve over 50,000 patients annually. This creates a high-volume setting for complex oculoplastics. Many clinics offer local anaesthesia packages. However, Australian patients often find general anaesthesia more comfortable for this specific two-hour procedure. Confirming anaesthesia types during the initial video consultation helps avoid unexpected theatre costs later.

Patient Consensus: Expect minimal pain after the first week, though headaches are common for five days. Patients should avoid lifting anything heavy for eight weeks. They should also remember that the permanent prosthetic fitting happens after two months. This requires a return trip or local coordination.

What is enucleation with orbital implant insertion performed in Turkey?

Enucleation with orbital implant insertion in Turkey removes the entire eyeball and places a spherical implant in the eye socket. This restores lost volume. Specialist surgeons in Istanbul and Izmir attach extraocular muscles to the implant. This allows natural movement for a future prosthetic eye.

  • Surgical approach: Surgeons remove the globe while preserving eyelids and socket tissues under local anaesthesia.
  • Implant insertion: A spherical implant replaces the eyeball volume to prevent a sunken socket appearance.
  • Muscle attachment: Stitching muscles to the implant allows it to mimic natural movement during recovery.
  • Temporary conformer: A plastic shell maintains the socket shape for 6–8 weeks during healing.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Turkish specialists like Dr Ahmet Satici have performed 20,000+ surgeries. This offers a significant experience advantage for complex oncological cases.
