How Much Does Lingual braces Cost in Thailand in AUD?

Lingual braces in Thailand typically cost from AUD $6,385 / ฿A217,100 to AUD $9,933 / ฿A337,710. Prices fluctuate based on case complexity, and the specific brand of lingual system used. Australians can expect to save around 44% compared to local prices, which average AUD $14,615 / ฿A496,917. Costs usually cover the initial consultation, X-rays, custom bracket fabrication, and routine adjustments in Bangkok or Phuket centres.

  • System brand: Premium systems like Incognito often carry a 20–30% surcharge over standard lingual options.
  • Treatment scope: Treating a single arch generally costs approximately 50% of a full set.
  • Case complexity: Severe misalignment increases laboratory time and total adjustment visits required.
  • Location: Clinics in Bangkok hubs often charge slightly more than smaller regional facilities.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Choosing a facility with an on-site CAD/CAM lab can significantly improve the fit of custom brackets. Bangkok International Dental Center (BIDC) uses this technology to ensure precise bracket placement. This precision often reduces the overall treatment time compared to clinics using manual methods. Seeking JCI-accredited clinics provides Australians with peace of mind regarding sterilisation and quality standards.

What would I say to a friend who’s hesitating? Just go for it
What would I say to a friend who’s hesitating? Just go for it. My biggest fear was not understanding the treatment plan or feeling rushed, but that wasn’t the case at all. The dentist was very patient and took the time to explain each step to me in detail. It was reassuring. The overall organisation ran smoothly and the whole clinic team were professional and happy to answer my questions. Coordination via Bookimed simplified the whole process, which helped reduce the stress of having a medical appointment abroad. I left with clear information and a good overall impression.

I would like to thank BIDC and also Bookimed for their professionalism
Hello everyone, like many other people before an operation, I wasn't feeling very well. The staff at the clinic immediately reassured and accompanied me. Believe me or not, I didn't feel a thing. The dental surgeon fitted the 2 implants in 40 minutes, and I had no infections whatsoever. My Bookimed advisor (Péguy) was with me from the start and is still with me today. I would like to thank BIDC and also Bookimed for their professionalism. Sylvain B.

The wisdom teeth extraction was done so fast with utmost care
It is a clean hospital and the wisdom teeth extraction was done so fast with utmost care. The dentist and dental personnel can speak fluent English which is important for most people like I. For wisdom teeth extraction the cost was 20000 baht for 4 teeth( including medication and nurse charge), but it all depends if the teeth has impacted. I would highly recommend the clinic.

FAQ about Lingual braces in Thailand

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

Are lingual braces in Thailand effective for complex orthodontic cases?

Lingual braces in Thailand are effective for complex orthodontic cases. They offer a 95% success rate for severe crowding and malocclusions. Placed behind the teeth, these fixed appliances provide precise control. This allows for difficult tooth rotations that clear aligners often cannot achieve.

  • Specialised expertise: Leading Bangkok clinics like Bangkok International Dental Center feature orthodontists specialising in lingual techniques.
  • Complex movement: These braces manage severe bite issues and crowding while remaining 100% invisible.
  • Custom appliances: Experts design bespoke brackets for every tooth for accuracy in complex cases.
  • Integrated technology: Centres like Silom Dental Building use digital labs to plan intricate tooth movements.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Lingual braces cost from $4,500 to $7,000. Patients save about 42% compared to Australian averages. Large Bangkok clinics often house over 40 dentists. This allows for immediate cross-specialist consultation if complex orthodontics require periodontal or implant support.

Patient Consensus: Patients found the invisible nature of the braces ideal for professional settings. Success relied on clinical experience. Many requested before-and-after photos of similar complex cases before starting.

Are there many orthodontists qualified to perform lingual braces in Thailand?

Thailand has a small group of highly specialised orthodontists qualified to perform lingual braces. Most experts work in Bangkok at JCI-accredited centres like BIDC. These specialists need extra training to manage custom-made brackets positioned behind the teeth.

  • Elite centres: BIDC and Silom Dental Building host 40+ dentists with orthodontic specialists.
  • Specialised technology: Clinics use specific systems like STb light lingual braces for comfort.
  • Professional labs: Top Bangkok facilities maintain on-site digital laboratories for custom bracket fabrication.
  • JCI accreditation: Major centres follow international safety and quality standards for complex dental work.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While lingual braces cost from $4,500 to $7,000 in Thailand, savings of 42% are possible compared to Australia. Data shows that the best outcomes occur at clinics with in-house labs. These clinics can adjust custom brackets faster than those using overseas laboratories.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Thailand recommend confirming an orthodontist's case volume before starting. They advise checking if the clinic uses a recognised system. This helps ensure continuity of care when returning to Australia.

What is the likelihood of experiencing discomfort or speech issues with lingual braces in Thailand?

Lingual braces in Thailand likely cause temporary speech issues and tongue discomfort for the first 1 to 4 weeks. Most patients adapt fully within 3 months. Leading Bangkok clinics like BIDC use JCI-accredited protocols to manage these physical transitions.

  • Speech adaptation: A temporary lisp or whistling sound affects most patients for 1–3 months.
  • Tongue soreness: Contact between the tongue and brackets causes tenderness for 2–4 weeks.
  • Dietary changes: Sharp wires often require a soft-food diet during the initial adjustment period.
  • Expert care: Bangkok clinics like Silom Dental house 45+ dentists to manage complex adjustments.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While lingual braces cost from $4,500 to $7,000, many choose BIDC in Bangkok. Their in-house digital labs allow for precise bracket customisation. This precision often shortens the adaptation period compared to standard prefabricated lingual systems.

What exactly are lingual braces offered at Thai dental clinics?

Lingual braces in Thailand are a discreet orthodontic solution. Custom-made metal brackets and wires are bonded to the back of the teeth. This makes the treatment invisible during daily interactions. Specialist clinics in Bangkok use these systems to treat complex misalignments that clear aligners cannot always fix.

  • Full invisibility: Brackets sit on the tongue-side of teeth for a hidden aesthetic appearance.
  • Custom fabrication: Leading centres use digital scans to create tailored brackets for better precision and comfort.
  • Expert application: Specialist orthodontists at JCI-accredited clinics like BIDC perform these complex bracket placements.
  • Clinical technology: Clinics often use on-site digital labs so brackets fit the unique tooth contours.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Many patients focus on the low profile of the STb system. However, the real advantage in Thailand is the specialist concentration. Major Bangkok hubs house over 40+ dentists. This provides orthodontists who specialise solely in lingual techniques for scheduled appointments.

Patient Consensus: Patients choosing lingual braces in Thailand value the hidden brackets. They recommend allowing two weeks for speech to normalise. Most people find the initial tongue soreness manageable as they adjust to the inner-surface fit.

How long does the application process for lingual braces at a clinic in Thailand take?

The application for lingual braces in Thailand generally takes 2 to 4 weeks from consultation to final bonding. The fitting appointment lasts 1 to 3 hours. However, labs need several weeks to make your custom brackets and wires.

  • Clinical consultation: Specialists perform X-rays and digital scans to map your teeth on day 1.
  • Laboratory fabrication: Custom brackets are created over 2–4 weeks for a precise, hidden fit.
  • Bonding appointment: The final fitting takes 1–3 hours once your custom appliances arrive from the lab.
  • Adjustment visits: Patients typically return every 4–8 weeks for wire tensioning and progress checks.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Clinics like Bangkok International Dental Center (BIDC) use on-site digital labs to streamline the process. Choosing a JCI-accredited facility with in-house technology often reduces the lead time for custom brackets.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Thailand recommend sending dental scans before travelling to speed up the process. Confirming whether the clinic uses custom or stock brackets helps manage expectations for your holiday timeframe.

Do I need to organise an appointment in advance for lingual braces in Thailand?

Patients must organise an appointment in advance for lingual braces in Thailand. This procedure requires specialised orthodontists. It also needs custom laboratory work to create the hidden appliances. Booking ahead secures a specialist at JCI-accredited clinics like Bangkok International Dental Center (BIDC).

  • Specialist availability: Only select orthodontists hold the qualifications required for lingual appliance placement.
  • Custom fabrication: On-site digital laboratories must manufacture the bespoke brackets before fitting can occur.
  • Clinical assessment: Initial consultations determine suitability before starting the fabrication and bonding process.
  • Timeframe management: Booking ahead allows enough time for records, scans, and fitting during the holiday.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Clinics with on-site digital labs, such as Bangkok International Dental Center (BIDC), often streamline fabrication. Choosing these facilities can reduce the wait time between your initial scan and final fitting. This is vital for international patients on a limited timeline.

Patient Consensus: Booking the initial consultation before travelling is essential to confirm suitability and specialist availability. Patients recommend allowing extra time for custom scans and adjustments to make sure the fit is perfect.
