How Much Does Laser scar removal Cost in Thailand in AUD?

Laser scar removal in Thailand typically ranges from AUD $575 / ฿A19,561 to AUD $1,007 / ฿A34,231. Final costs depend on the technology used, the scar size, and the number of sessions required. In Australia, the same treatment costs approximately AUD $4,171 / ฿A141,815, meaning patients save around 79% by travelling. Basic packages often include a specialist consultation and the procedure itself.

  • Pico laser scar removal: AUD $575 / ฿A19,561 to AUD $1,007 / ฿A34,231 for advanced skin rejuvenation.
  • Scar revision: AUD $2,589 / ฿A88,023 to AUD $4,027 / ฿A136,925 for surgical correction of deeper tissue.
  • Fractional CO2 laser: typically adds a 20–30% premium for deep resurfacing treatments.
  • Multiple session packages: often provide 15–20% savings compared to paying for individual sessions.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Australian patients often find better value in Bangkok by choosing specialised skin clinics. For example, ASIA CLINIC offers Pico laser packages for approximately A$200 with anti-aging specialists. Larger centres like Bumrungrad International Hospital or Yanhee International Hospital provide JCI-accredited safety for complex cases. These facilities use FDA-certified technologies, providing high-standard care at a fraction of Australian private clinic prices.

Data verified by Bookimed as of July 2026, based on patient requests and official quotes from 153 clinics worldwide. Median costs are based on real invoices (2025–2026) and updated monthly. Actual prices may vary.

The team followed through on every detail discussed
Sitting in the consultation room while the surgeon explained the precise use of 50-100 million umbilical cord stem cells gave me a clear sense of the technical path ahead. Fifteen days after the treatment, I am already noticing some improvement in my overall physical state. The application was smooth, and I experienced no injection site reactions or inflammatory flare-ups afterward. Recovery is just beginning. Every interaction with the clinic staff was handled with professional efficiency, ensuring that the logistical side of the medical travel was as controlled as the procedure itself. It is important to stay patient during this early window while the body starts to respond to the cells. The team followed through on every detail discussed.

If you're travelling to Bangkok and need fast and quality care, I would highly recommend using Bookimed to set up an appointment and going to B
Everything went so smoothly and I was well taken care of upon arrival. B. Care Medical Center is very clean and beautiful. The medical team were very professional and thorough and warm and welcoming. Prices were very reasonable and they went above and beyond to give me more treatment than I had asked for. Bookimed was also very easy to use, response time was quick and easy and all my questions were answered promptly. If you're travelling to Bangkok and need fast and quality care, I would highly recommend using Bookimed to set up an appointment and going to B. Care Medical Center for your medical needs.

It was a terrible experience which I never want to go through again. Upon arrival at the hospital, the consultant , Jeab who led me there was not present to receive me. Instead I was attended by the medical sstaff who flatly shot down the agreed quotations offered by Jeab and even said they do not need the VDO anymore so they could not offer me what Jeab did and I was told I had to pay 3 times the proce of what I was offered before. Consequent to the price dispute, there were lots of bleak moments between the consultant and the medical staff internally then I was made to wait for over two hours then they suddenly reversed to ask for VDO compromised on an agreed price. I repeated said no to revealing my face for the VDO and the secretary Kimmy assured me my face will not be shown on camera. Prior to seeing the doctor, I was told to made payment first. For every doctor consultation, I had to go to the cashier to complete the payment and I was seeing two different doctors meant I had to repeat same process twice touring the entire medical centre so many times. What was most stupid was that I was never informed that I had to pay out of pocket for the Covid-9 test which I deem really unfair when there was konsixh prior information and they just dumped all the hidden cost on me. I only did the arm Vader+body tite along with pick laser for vaginal and I was made to go from building to building spending 7 hours there the entire day is really uncalled for!!!

I went to this clinic to get medical care. The very high price could be justified by this type of treatment. The medical team were present, but no parameters were taken either before or after the treatment. I don't think that customer satisfaction is the objective, the aim is above all to make people spend money unnecessarily. I would not recommend this clinic

I'm pleased I went there
Well it's been about a month and I'm still recovering but I'm pleased I went there.
The people were nice
What I didn't like wasn't to do with the place or people. I went through quite a painful procedure getting rid of rather a lot of moles and I almost wished I hadn't when I was in pain. It's all changed now that I'm healing.

FAQ about Laser scar removal in Thailand

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

What are the common side effects and expected recovery downtime for laser scar removal in Thailand?

Laser scar removal in Thailand typically requires 1 to 14 days of downtime. Non-ablative picosecond lasers offer the fastest recovery within 48 hours. Ablative fractional lasers require up to 2 weeks for skin peeling. Side effects include temporary redness, swelling, and sunburn-like sensations.

  • Non-ablative downtime: Most patients return to social activities within 1 to 3 days.
  • Ablative downtime: Skin remains raw or peeling for 7 to 14 days.
  • Initial side effects: Redness and swelling usually peak within the first 24 hours.
  • Sun protection: High UV intensity in Thailand requires medical-grade SPF 50+ daily.
  • Activity restrictions: Avoid sweat-inducing activities for 7 days to prevent skin infections.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data from top Bangkok clinics show a preference for picosecond technology over CO2. This shift allows international patients to fly home much sooner. Most specialists now recommend scheduling the procedure for your final holiday days. This avoids the risk of hyperpigmentation from intense tropical sun exposure.

Patient Consensus: Many found the heat and humidity intensified the initial sunburn feeling. Patients suggest staying in air-conditioned spaces for the first 3 days. Most were impressed by the quick healing times in Thai clinics.

When is it safe to fly out of Thailand after laser scar removal treatment?

Flying out of Thailand after laser scar removal is generally safe 24 hours to 14 days post-treatment. The exact timeline depends on the laser depth and skin healing. Most patients flying to Australia after non-ablative Pico lasers can depart within 1 to 2 days.

  • Non-ablative lasers: Procedures like Pico laser allow for travel within 24 to 48 hours.
  • Medium-depth lasers: Wait 3 to 7 days for microscopic skin channels to close completely.
  • Deep resurfacing: Stay 7 to 14 days for ablative CO2 lasers to prevent infection.
  • Clinical clearance: Book a review appointment in Bangkok before heading to the airport.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Thai clinics like ASIA CLINIC and Wansiri Hospital serve 2,000+ patients annually. They often use Pico technology that causes no tissue damage. This tech is popular with Australians because it avoids the week-long recovery of traditional ablative lasers. Requesting a pre-flight teleconsultation through Bookimed helps confirm your skin barrier has reformed.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Thailand recommend staying until all redness and crusting subside. Bringing prescribed ointments in carry-on luggage helps manage the dry 10% humidity inside airplane cabins.

What types of laser technology are available for scar removal in Thai clinics?

Thai clinics provide laser technologies including Pico, Fractional CO2, and Erbium:YAG for diverse scar types. Major Bangkok facilities like Yanhee International Hospital and Asia Cosmetic Hospital use these systems. They treat deep acne pits, surgical scars, and pigmentation with high precision.

  • Pico laser: Targeted energy pulses shatter pigment and smooth acne scars with minimal tissue damage.
  • Fractional CO2: The gold standard for deep, atrophic scars, requiring 7–14 days for skin recovery.
  • Erbium (Er:YAG): Precise resurfacing for darker skin tones with lower risks of permanent pigment changes.
  • Dual Yellow laser: Specialised technology targeting red marks and persistent erythema left behind by acne.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Many clinics offer a generic laser scar removal package from $400. However, true value often lies in combination therapy. High-volume centres like Asia Cosmetic Hospital often combine multiple technologies or subcision in one session. This treats complex, tethered scars more effectively than lasers alone.

Patient Consensus: Patients travel to Thailand for specific devices like Pico and Er:YAG to manage pigmentation and texture. Most advise confirming if a laser targets depth or colour. Multiple sessions are usually necessary for the best results.

How many laser sessions will I need to see results for scar removal in Thailand?

Most patients need 3 to 6 laser sessions for significant results in Thailand. Improvements in skin texture often appear after the second session. Skin continues to remodel for several months after the final treatment for best results.

  • Treatment intervals: Specialists space sessions 4 to 6 weeks apart for safe skin healing.
  • Newer scars: Recent marks typically need only 2 to 3 sessions for noticeable improvement.
  • Textured scars: Deep acne or surgical scars often need 3 to 5 fractional laser sessions.
  • Raised scars: Hypertrophic or keloid scars usually involve 4 to 6 sessions and combination therapies.
  • Pico technology: Non-ablative Pico lasers provide results with minimal tissue damage and shorter recovery times.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Thai clinics like ASIA CLINIC and Asia Cosmetic Hospital use Pico Laser technology. It is often branded as No Tissue Damage Technology. This is valuable for Australian patients with darker skin tones or tight holiday schedules. It works without the lengthy peeling or scabbing seen with traditional CO2 lasers.

Patient Consensus: Patients should expect a course of treatments rather than a one-off fix. Meaningful changes in Thailand typically build up after the third visit. Many patients found that combining lasers with other therapies worked best for stubborn, raised scars.

How should I protect my skin while holidaying in Thailand post-laser scar removal?

Protecting skin in Thailand after laser scar removal requires avoiding direct sun and managing heat. This helps prevent hyperpigmentation. The high tropical UV index can darken compromised tissue within minutes. Patients must use physical barriers like UPF 50+ clothing and mineral-based SPF 50+ sunscreen during daylight.

  • Sunscreen strategy: Apply zinc-based broad-spectrum SPF 50+ every 2 hours while outdoors.
  • Physical barriers: Wear wide-brimmed hats and lightweight long sleeves to block UV rays.
  • Heat management: Use air-conditioning and cooling fans to prevent inflammation from sweating.
  • Activity limits: Avoid swimming in pools or oceans until the skin barrier closes.
  • Skincare routine: Use only gentle, fragrance-free cleansers and avoid active acids or scrubs.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Laser scar removal in Bangkok often uses Pico technology. This targets pigment without heating surrounding skin to reduce recovery time. Specialists like Dr Sirintip Jira-adisai at ASIA CLINIC use this method. However, patients often underestimate tropical UV levels. These can still trigger pigment issues even with less invasive lasers.

Patient Consensus: Treated skin is high-risk in Thailand. Patients recommend planning indoor activities and using shade during peak UV hours. Success comes from combining physical protection with frequent sunscreen reapplication to prevent permanent darkening.

Is laser scar removal painful for patients travelling to Thailand?

Laser scar removal in Thailand is generally comfortable. Clinics use topical numbing cream or local anaesthesia to manage sensation. Patients typically describe the feeling as a snapping rubber band or mild stinging. Pico laser technology further reduces tissue damage and heat-related discomfort during the session.

  • Pain management: Clinics apply numbing creams 30–60 minutes before non-ablative Pico laser treatments.
  • Deep scars: Surgeons use local anaesthetic injections for intensive CO2 resurfacing to prevent pain.
  • Cooling systems: Specialised air blowers continuously soothe the skin surface to reduce heat and stinging.
  • Post-op sensation: Treated areas usually feel like moderate sunburn for 24 to 72 hours afterwards.
  • Travel timing: Avoid air travel for 1–2 weeks to prevent cabin pressure from increasing swelling.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Many centres focus on aesthetic results. However, high-volume hubs like Bumrungrad International Hospital and Yanhee International Hospital treat over 1,000,000 and 450,000 patients annually. These large facilities often provide robust pain management protocols and international-standard emergency support. For Australians, choosing clinics like Asia Clinic that offer telehealth follow-ups helps manage post-treatment stinging after returning home.

Patient Consensus: Most patients find the procedure manageable. They describe it as a hot snapping sensation rather than severe pain. They recommend staying indoors in Thailand to avoid intense sun exposure. This prevents stinging and inflammation on freshly treated skin.
