How Much Does Jaw shaping Cost in Thailand in AUD?

Jaw shaping in Thailand typically costs between AUD $284 / ฿A9,649 and AUD $4,683 / ฿A159,206, with prices varying significantly based on whether a patient chooses non-surgical contouring or invasive bone reduction. In Australia, similar jaw procedures cost around AUD $18,446 / ฿A627,176 on average, allowing patients to save approximately 87%. Surgical packages in Bangkok and Phuket often include anaesthetic fees, hospital stays, and pre-operative testing.

  • V-line or jaw shaving: Typically adds 30–50% to the cost of standard chin enhancement.
  • Custom jaw implants: Costs vary based on materials like medical-grade silicone or Medpor.
  • Surgical location: Premium JCI-accredited hospitals in Bangkok generally charge 15–20% more than regional clinics.
  • Non-surgical slimming: Injectable treatments for masseter reduction provide the most affordable entry point.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Australian patients often find exceptional value in Bangkok clinics that specialise in facial feminisation. Wansiri Hospital, for example, uses 3D imaging to customise implants for precise aesthetic outcomes. For those seeking safe surgical environments, Asia Cosmetic Hospital maintains a 0% complication rate. This focus on safety and technology often justifies the travel costs for complex bone work.

Data verified by Bookimed as of June 2026, based on patient requests and official quotes from 87 clinics worldwide. Median costs are based on real invoices (2025–2026) and updated monthly. Actual prices may vary.

The team followed through on every detail discussed
Sitting in the consultation room while the surgeon explained the precise use of 50-100 million umbilical cord stem cells gave me a clear sense of the technical path ahead. Fifteen days after the treatment, I am already noticing some improvement in my overall physical state. The application was smooth, and I experienced no injection site reactions or inflammatory flare-ups afterward. Recovery is just beginning. Every interaction with the clinic staff was handled with professional efficiency, ensuring that the logistical side of the medical travel was as controlled as the procedure itself. It is important to stay patient during this early window while the body starts to respond to the cells. The team followed through on every detail discussed.

Not sure... give me extra stem cells. Maybe have more food?

It was a terrible experience which I never want to go through again. Upon arrival at the hospital, the consultant , Jeab who led me there was not present to receive me. Instead I was attended by the medical sstaff who flatly shot down the agreed quotations offered by Jeab and even said they do not need the VDO anymore so they could not offer me what Jeab did and I was told I had to pay 3 times the proce of what I was offered before. Consequent to the price dispute, there were lots of bleak moments between the consultant and the medical staff internally then I was made to wait for over two hours then they suddenly reversed to ask for VDO compromised on an agreed price. I repeated said no to revealing my face for the VDO and the secretary Kimmy assured me my face will not be shown on camera. Prior to seeing the doctor, I was told to made payment first. For every doctor consultation, I had to go to the cashier to complete the payment and I was seeing two different doctors meant I had to repeat same process twice touring the entire medical centre so many times. What was most stupid was that I was never informed that I had to pay out of pocket for the Covid-9 test which I deem really unfair when there was konsixh prior information and they just dumped all the hidden cost on me. I only did the arm Vader+body tite along with pick laser for vaginal and I was made to go from building to building spending 7 hours there the entire day is really uncalled for!!!

I went to this clinic to get medical care. The very high price could be justified by this type of treatment. The medical team were present, but no parameters were taken either before or after the treatment. I don't think that customer satisfaction is the objective, the aim is above all to make people spend money unnecessarily. I would not recommend this clinic

I'm pleased I went there
Well it's been about a month and I'm still recovering but I'm pleased I went there.
The people were nice
What I didn't like wasn't to do with the place or people. I went through quite a painful procedure getting rid of rather a lot of moles and I almost wished I hadn't when I was in pain. It's all changed now that I'm healing.

FAQ about Jaw shaping in Thailand

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

Is it safe to undergo jaw surgery in Thailand?

Jaw surgery in Thailand is safe when performed by board-certified specialists. These surgeons work in hospitals that follow standards set by the JCI (Joint Commission International).

Leading Bangkok facilities use air filtration and automated touchless systems to prevent infection. They employ surgeons with international fellowships and experience in thousands of cases.

  • Hospital-based surgery: Large hospitals like Wansiri provide Clean Room standard theatres and onsite ICU.
  • Certified specialists: Qualified surgeons hold Diplomas from the Thai Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
  • Specialised technology: Facilities use HEPA filters and positive pressure systems to maintain sterile environments.
  • International standards: Accredited hospitals like Bangpakok 9 International follow JCI global safety practices.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Thailand’s safety is driven by hospital-based care rather than small cosmetic clinics. Leading centres like ID Clinic and Wansiri serve thousands of international patients annually. This includes many from Australia. This high volume allows surgeons to specialise deeply. This often leads to better outcomes than general cosmetic units.

Patient Consensus: Patients recommend choosing hospital-based maxillofacial surgeons over cosmetic clinics. This is for major jaw work in Thailand. They suggest verifying English-speaking coordination before arrival. This helps manage discharge instructions and long-term follow-up plans effectively.

What are the health risks associated with jaw surgery in Thailand?

Jaw surgery in Thailand involves standard risks like infection, temporary facial numbness, and swelling. Leading Bangkok hospitals manage these through JCI accreditation and strict infection control. Surgeons use bone contouring and osteotomy techniques to reshape the jaw. Major centres serve over 20,000 international patients annually.

  • Nerve injury: Potential numbness in lips or chin occurs during bone repositioning.
  • Bite alignment: Improper healing may require revision surgery to correct tooth positioning.
  • Safety standards: Clinics like Wansiri Hospital use Clean Room standards to prevent infection.
  • Specialised training: Surgeons like Dr. Chen Chaichanchip often hold international fellowships in bone contouring.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Many Australian patients focus on surgical bone reduction. However, Thai clinics frequently use fat transfer or Botox for lower-risk contouring. JCI-accredited facilities like Bangpakok 9 International Hospital offer high safety standards for complex cases. These centres often manage 4,000+ international cases yearly with structured follow-up protocols.

Patient Consensus: Confirm who manages complications once home in Australia. Avoid short holidays after major jaw procedures. Flying early can worsen swelling and discomfort. Fixing results is harder if the original surgeon is overseas. Plan an extended recovery window with a local specialist available for emergencies.

How do I choose the best surgeon for jaw contouring in Thailand?

Choosing the best surgeon for jaw contouring in Thailand requires verifying board certification. Confirm they are members of the Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons of Thailand.

Australian patients should prioritise JCI-accredited facilities in Bangkok. Look for surgeons with documented bone contouring fellowships from South Korea or Italy.

  • Specialist certification: Check that surgeons hold a Thai Board of Plastic Surgery diploma.
  • Institutional accreditation: Select hospitals with Joint Commission International (JCI) seals. Bangpakok 9 International Hospital is one such facility.
  • Specific training: Look for fellowships in Seoul, such as those held by Dr Chen Chaichanchip.
  • Facility safety: Confirm the theatre has HEPA filters and positive pressure systems.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Many surgeons perform jawline fillers, but bone contouring is a different specialty. Bookimed data shows top clinics like Wansiri Hospital use clean-room standard theatres. These automated, touchless environments are rare in smaller clinics. They are critical for safely performing invasive bone work.

What pre-operative preparation is required for jaw contouring in Thailand?

Pre-operative preparation for jaw contouring in Thailand focuses on health screenings and lifestyle changes. Medical evaluations typically include blood tests, chest X-rays, and EKGs. Patients must stop blood-thinning medications, smoking, and alcohol at least 2 weeks before arrival. This usually applies to travel to Bangkok or Phuket.

  • Clinical screenings: Undergo mandatory blood tests, chest X-rays, and EKG assessments before surgery.
  • Medication pause: Stop taking aspirin, ibuprofen, and herbal supplements 2 weeks before the procedure.
  • Lifestyle changes: Stop smoking and alcohol 14+ days early to support tissue healing.
  • Fasting protocol: Refrain from all food and water from midnight before theatre.
  • Recovery planning: Arrange to stay in Thailand for 10–14 days for post-operative checks.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While basic clinics offer standard prep, JCI-accredited facilities provide structured pathways. For example, Phuket Plastic Surgery Institute includes pre-travel telehealth. This allows your local GP to coordinate essential screenings in Australia before you fly. This saves 2 days of clinical wait time once in Thailand.

Will I have visible scars after jaw shaping surgery in Thailand?

Patients generally do not have visible scars after jaw shaping surgery in Thailand. Surgeons typically use intraoral techniques, making incisions inside the mouth along the gum line. This approach hides all surgical marks while providing direct access for bone contouring or jaw reduction.

  • Internal incisions: Surgeons operate through the mouth to avoid any external facial or neck scarring.
  • Dissolvable sutures: Incisions are closed with self-dissolving stitches. This eliminates the need for painful suture removal.
  • Precision guides: Specialists like Dr Chen Chaichanchip use 3D custom guides for precise, less invasive bone reshaping.
  • Technical standards: High-volume centres like Wansiri Hospital use air filtration in theatres to support clean healing.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While most jaw procedures are scar-free, Australian patients should check if liposuction or thread lifting is bundled. Dr Akkavich Harnnavachok at Siam Clinic Phuket performs these complementary techniques. These may involve tiny, 2mm puncture marks usually hidden under the chin or behind the ears.

Patient Consensus: Travellers to Thailand report that temporary swelling and numbness are more noticeable than any healing marks. Most confirm that once internal incisions heal, there is no evidence of surgery on the face.

What is the expected recovery time for jaw reshaping in Thailand?

Recovery from jaw reshaping in Thailand typically requires 2 to 3 weeks for initial healing. Most patients then return to work. While severe swelling and bruising peak within 5 days, full bone remodelling takes 6 to 12 months.

  • Clinic stay: Surgeons often require 2 to 3 weeks in Thailand for follow-up checks.
  • Dietary transition: Patients must follow a strict liquid diet for the first 14 days.
  • Activity limits: Avoid heavy lifting and intense physical exercise for at least 6 weeks.
  • Swelling timeline: Roughly 90% of facial swelling generally subsides by the 3-month mark.
  • Social recovery: Most patients feel comfortable appearing in public after 4 to 8 weeks.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Surgical bone work takes months to settle. However, non-surgical jaw contouring with fillers or toxins involves zero downtime. Leading clinics like ID Clinic Bangkok or Wansiri Hospital serve 2,000+ patients annually. They often combine these methods for faster results. This volume helps surgeons manage complex swelling patterns in Australian travellers.

Patient Consensus: The initial fortnight in Thailand is the most demanding due to limited jaw movement. Patients find the physical disruption and soft food diet more challenging than the pain.

How does Thailand compare to other destinations like Korea for jaw surgery?

Thailand offers jaw shaping from $200 to $3,300. This saves Australians up to 89% compared to local costs. South Korea specialises in dramatic V-line bone structural changes. However, Thai clinics like Wansiri Hospital provide softer, natural-looking contouring.

  • Technique specialisation: Thailand focuses on non-surgical fillers, thread lifts, and fat transfers for lower-impact reshaping.
  • Surgical expertise: Surgeons like Dr Chen Chaichanchip often complete bone contouring fellowships in Korea.
  • Patient volume: Large Bangkok facilities like B.Care Medical Center treat over 22,000 patients annually.
  • Hospital standards: JCI-accredited centres like Bangpakok 9 International Hospital match strict Australian clinical safety.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Korea is the hub for complex bone surgery. However, Thailand is a smart choice for soft-tissue jawline contouring. Thai doctors often train in Seoul but perform these procedures in Bangkok. This usually costs roughly A$10,000 less than Korean clinics.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Thailand enjoy the value of all-inclusive hospital stays. They also appreciate combining recovery with a holiday. Many find that hospitality and coordinator support make managing post-surgical swelling much less stressful.
