From the beginning I was sure to make clear to the doctor my priorities & goals. He said it was well within what he was capable of doing. Post surgery, my nose was larger than agreed, and my hips smaller than desired. When I voiced dissatisfaction, the doctor said my expectations were unrealistic. I find this to be a poor response as my expectations were informed by the doctor himself. I've advised to doctor that if he thinks his capabilities are lesser, than he needs to be honest and clear with his clients from the beginning, not post-surgery. He did not seem to receive this advice and only wanted to shoo me away: I suppose it will be for future clients to judge if he applies this advice. The clinic did a revision for my hips, getting them closer to the goal, but still less than initially desired. The clinic also offered a revision in the future for my nose, but it is hard to justify the further expense of flight & hotel to get the result I already have paid so much for. Positive notes: the doctor does have a regard for what procedures are safe/risky which I appreciate. Additionally the staff are excellent and very kind. English isn't their best suit, but we got by alright with Google translate for the more intricate conversations. Even if sub-par, each of the procedures were an improvement which I should be grateful for. While I am saddened by the limitations, there is great potential for this clinic: I wish them the best in making the required changes to become a 5 star service.
Staff were nice
I found the results disappointing/underwhelming In my opinion - the doctor over promised and under delivered. I made very clear what my priorities/goals were and he said it was well within what he could do. This primarily pertains to my nose and my hip dips. My hip dips initially were not sufficiently filled & asymmetrical. He had to do a revision for my hip dips, which I'm glad filled the dips, but overall the volume is less than I hoped. The work he did on my nose was a tremendously small change. Sure swelling may still reduce, but I cannot imagine it will reduce to the extent we had agreed on pre-surgery. Just like with my hip dips, he said my expectations were unrealistic, and yet my expectations were informed by what he said he was capable of doing. Several times I tried to tell him if he thinks the expectations were unrealistic, he needs/needed to communicate to me/future clients better. He didn't seem to care about this feedback and instead appeared to just want me out of his office/the conversation to end. The breast implants are fine, but as I said to the doctor: I don't want large breasts unless my hips are sufficiently large in combination. The staff are very nice. There is of course a language barrier, which I guess is to be expected going to another country for this work. - we used Google translate which I think bridged the gap sufficiently. The communication issues largely I don't think are the result of language, but rather of the doctor not caring. I voiced skepticism/disappointment with my nose early on in the process. Finally on April 10th, I said strongly that I wanted a revision. At that point the doctor said he doesn't want to do a revision due to it being too close to the time of the flight (so for safety reasons which is fair enough). But he seems to think the job he did is in line with what I paid him to do: it is not. ID clinic says they'll do a revision in 5-6 months (included in the cost), but I would of course have to pay for another flight and hotel, which is understandable from a practical policy point of view, but is still difficult for me to justify the additional expense to get the result I originally already paid for.

I’m feeling better than expected this early on
My main worries before the procedure were the recovery process and the final look of the scars. My surgeon was very direct about both, clearly explaining the realistic results, the swelling timeline, and exactly where the incisions for my full neck lift would be placed behind the ears. This honesty was appreciated. The procedure was done under general anesthesia, and I’m feeling better than expected this early on. The clinic’s support has been solid; they gave me a clear aftercare guide and have been easy to reach with questions. It was also a relief that there were no additional expenses on top of the quoted price.

The clinic staff were competent, and the surgeon was clear in our consultations
Waking up, I felt groggy but managed. The clinic staff were competent, and the surgeon was clear in our consultations. The incision was placed under the breast, which is what I wanted. I am still in the early recovery phase, and it has its challenges. My pain has lessened to a mild discomfort, but sleeping through the night is difficult, and my nipples are uncomfortably hypersensitive. Overall, the medical care was solid, though the recovery process itself is demanding. It’s a serious undertaking.

Despite the discomfort, the clinic, the staff, and my surgeon were all fantastic and provided great care
Monsplaty, Tummy Tuck and 360 Liposuction. My biggest concern going into this was what the recovery would actually feel like. It's not easy. The most challenging part has definitely been the constant tight feeling, which is something to be prepared for. My surgeon used a combination of liposuction and excision. Right now there is still some swelling, so it’s too early to know how my clothes will fit differently in the end. Despite the discomfort, the clinic, the staff, and my surgeon were all fantastic and provided great care. It was a professional and supportive environment, and I'm glad I made the choice to go there.
Very clean, very inviting. After care was good too. Everything was quick and easy. Communication via whatsapp made things easier as well. I travelled solo and the staff helped that little extra.
After surgery garments are not forgiving for us longer torso people. They were a bit short which added a lil discomfort when it rolled at the back. Other than that everything was really good.

Even at just 15 days post-op, the initial aspect is already better than expected
Seeing the surgical site for the first time was the moment everything finally felt real. Even at just 15 days post-op, the initial aspect is already better than expected. We used the penile inversion technique, and while the results look promising, the recovery requires a lot of patience and steady commitment to the healing process. My biggest challenge at this stage is definitely the physical discomfort of being seated for a long time. It is a process. The clinic staff has been very attentive during my stay, and I am expecting to have the catheter removed very soon. To anyone else preparing for this surgery, it’s not easy but it is a good experience overall.

Just trust them
What really stood out was sitting with my doctor before the procedure to draw the beard shape together. That personal approach made a huge difference. Honestly, so far I'm feeling better than expected. The procedure was done using the FUE technique. The clinic’s support afterward has been great; they provided a clear aftercare guide and have stayed in touch with me. It was also a relief that there were no additional expenses on top of what I had paid. My advice for a future patient? Just trust them. They know what they are doing!
Excellent staff. Really took care of me. Wjile the full effects of my procedure will take several months to show. I'm very pleased so far of the outcome. They are very accommodating and generous with their time
Some language issues but some of the staff speak English well enough that it really isn't a problem

What truly stood out was my surgeon, who was honest about realistic results from the start and personally handled both the consultation and the surgery
I was thinking that going into a revision was getting unrealistic promises. What truly stood out was my surgeon, who was honest about realistic results from the start and personally handled both the consultation and the surgery. It gave me confidence. My alarplasty was done to correct an asymmetric nose, and while I'm still in the early stages of healing, it’s really too early to tell what the final outcome will be. The staff were supportive, providing a clear aftercare guide for my recovery at home. I also appreciated that there were no additional expenses on top of what I had already paid the clinic.

the care provided by the surgeon and the staff was impeccable
My one-off operation went very well and the care provided by the surgeon and the staff was impeccable, apart from a few minor language issues. However, you should be prepared for a few additional costs that were not included in the original price: we had to pay for the transfers between the hotel and the clinic ourselves, and the wound care supplies were insufficient, which amounted to a mid-double-digit sum in total. My most important tip for future patients would be to make absolutely sure you clarify any dietary requirements (vegetarian/halal/...) with the clinic before you arrive.
The coordination team is very dedicated and always available. The staff are consistently very friendly and go out of their way to help. A very comprehensive package with extensive, thorough preliminary examinations and no hidden costs. A superbly equipped single room, including a sofa bed for an accompanying person.
Contrary to what was advertised, there was no interpreter. The nursing staff, in particular, did not always have a good enough command of English to explain everything clearly and in detail. The consultation with the surgeon was less detailed than expected. It wasn’t always entirely clear which services were included in the package and which weren’t (particularly transfers) – but there were no major hidden costs. Hospital food/light meals after operations are always a challenge, and perhaps even more so in a different cultural context – I wasn’t asked about any specific dietary preferences, so anyone who absolutely needs vegetarian, vegan, kosher or halal food should definitely clarify this in advance; in my opinion, the hospital bed was very hard, which is significantly more uncomfortable when you can’t move around much

I'm confident in my choice and would recommend this clinic
My biggest worry was how the results would actually look and feel afterward. Now that I'm in the early stages of recovery from the fat transfer graft, I can say the outcome is positive. The girth is already noticeably thicker. Everything is still slightly numb, as expected, but the visual change is definitely there. The surgeon and the entire staff were professional and clear with all information, which helped manage my concerns from the beginning. It's a relief. Based on the care I received and the initial results, I'm confident in my choice and would recommend this clinic.

The most reassuring part of the whole process was sitting with the surgeon before we started
The most reassuring part of the whole process was sitting with the surgeon before we started. He took the time to draw the hairline with me and clearly explained the entire FUE extraction and implantation process, which helped manage my expectations for the 2,000-3,000 graft procedure. Now in the early stages of healing, I'm feeling about as expected. The clinic has stayed in touch, which is good. Overall, it was a solid experience with the surgeon and staff, and I appreciated that there were no additional expenses on top of what I was quoted.

The entire staff and my surgeon were great and supportive through it all
My biggest fear was the recovery, and it’s certainly a process that requires patience. The entire staff and my surgeon were great and supportive through it all. Right now, my chin is still very swollen, so I can't properly see the projection from the large, solid silicone implant yet. The numbness has been the hardest part. My lower lip feels slightly numb, which has made eating the biggest challenge so far. It’s a strange sensation. Despite the temporary side effects of healing, the care I received was solid and I would recommend this clinic.
Really loved the stuff they were very cute and helpful

My breathing is now even better than before
My biggest concern was that the result might look unnatural or that my breathing might be affected. Neither of these things happened. In fact, my breathing is now even better than before. During the open rhinoplasty, a small bump was removed and the bridge of my nose is now, even so soon after the procedure, already straighter, just as I wanted. In addition, the tip of my nose already looks much more defined. The staff and the surgeon were consistently supportive and answered all my questions patiently, which gave me a great deal of reassurance. I felt I was in good hands.

The surgeon and the whole medical team have been absolutely brilliant
I was really worried about the recovery period, and the truth is it hasn’t been as easy as I expected. My stomach is still swollen, and the compression garments are still tight, but the hardest part so far has been dealing with the annoying numb patches. That said, the surgeon and the whole medical team have been absolutely brilliant. The doctor explained to me that he used ultrasound technology (VASER) and removed between 3 and 4 litres of fat, and I felt I was in safe hands with them. Unfortunately, the clinic’s facilities weren’t up to the same standard as the quality of medical care, which is why I’ve given it a lower rating. Overall, I’m optimistic about the final result.

My surgeon was excellent, a definite 5/5
If you're considering a tummy tuck, know that the recovery is a real process. My surgeon was excellent, a definite 5/5. He performed a full tuck and repositioned my belly button, and everything already feels very tight, which is good. My biggest challenge right now is the compression garment; it's just a constant presence. While the surgeon was fantastic, there were some minor organizational points with the clinic and staff that could have been smoother. It's still too early to see the final flat result with all the healing left to do, but I feel confident in my choice. I would give this clinic a 9/10 recommendation to a friend.
The doctor he is excellent .soft spoken ,attentive and a great surgeon.
Rooms could be bigger so that attendant could stay at night. They have a reclining sofa not suitable for night sleeping. Front desk managers could be more attentive to every detail.

FAQ about Hip Augmentation in Thailand

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

What are the risks of flying after hip augmentation surgery in Thailand?

Flying shortly after hip augmentation surgery in Thailand carries risks like deep vein thrombosis (DVT). Long-haul flights to Australia increase these dangers due to immobility and cabin pressure. Surgeons typically require a 2 to 3-week recovery period before clearing patients for international travel.

  • Clot formation: DVT risk rises when sitting still for the 9-hour flight to Australia.
  • Limb swelling: Cabin pressure changes often increase tissue swelling and tension on hip incisions.
  • Graft protection: Prolonged sitting puts excessive pressure on new hip implants or fat transfers.
  • Wound infection: Exposure to airports and recycled cabin air increases risks for healing wounds.
  • Mobility issues: Handling heavy luggage and navigating terminals can strain the surgical site.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Thai clinics with 4,000+ annual patients, like ID Clinic Bangkok, often use 24-hour monitoring. Their VIP recovery suites are designed to detect early circulation issues before travel.

Patient Consensus: Travellers highlight that airport transfers and luggage are difficult solo. Most recommend building extra recovery time in Bangkok. Patients regularly use translation apps for post-op talks and wear medical-grade compression stockings during the flight.

What should I do if I experience complications after returning to Australia from hip augmentation in Thailand?

Seek immediate medical attention from an Australian GP or emergency department for fever, excessive swelling, or abnormal pain. Thai hospitals like Wansiri Hospital use HEPA air filtration to minimise infection risks. Local assessment remains essential for any postoperative complications.

  • Emergency care: Visit an emergency department for acute issues like severe infections or bleeding.
  • Clinical contact: Notify your Thai surgeon and the facility accredited by the Royal College of Surgeons Thailand.
  • Medical history: Inform Australian doctors about the specific implants or techniques used in Thailand.
  • Corrective surgery: Public hospitals treat emergencies, but private specialists handle elective revisions or corrections.
  • Record keeping: Keep all surgical reports and implant serial numbers for your Australian medical team.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Thai surgeons often have vast experience. Dr Panop Metinum at Lelux Plastic Surgery Hospital has 40 years in practice. Complications are rare, but choosing clinics with Clean Room standards helps reduce initial infection risks.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Thailand often find staff very kind and professional. Communicating is easier using translation apps for technical details. Following the surgeon's safety guidance is vital for recovery.

How should I prepare for hip augmentation surgery in Thailand?

Preparing for hip augmentation in Thailand requires organising medical screenings, lifestyle changes, and post-surgery logistics. Patients must arrange blood tests and ECGs. They must also stop blood-thinning supplements at least 1 week before theatre. Choosing accredited facilities like Wansiri Hospital provides access to high-standard sterile theatres.

  • Medical screenings: Complete blood tests and heart checks before arriving in Bangkok.
  • Medication pause: Cease aspirin, vitamin E, and fish oil 7 days before surgery.
  • Lifestyle adjustment: Stop smoking 4 weeks before theatre to help tissue healing.
  • Recovery clothing: Pack loose garments to avoid irritating surgical sites and incisions.
  • Support planning: Arrange a companion for help with showering and mobility during recovery.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Thai clinics like Lelux Plastic Surgery Hospital often use HEPA-filtered clean rooms. These rooms often exceed standard surgical requirements. Specialists such as Dr Panop Metinum bring 40+ years of experience to these procedures. Patients should verify if their surgeon holds CMCPER (Thai Board of Plastic Surgery) certification for safety.

Patient Consensus: Many travellers found using translation apps helped clarify details with kind clinic staff in Thailand. Others suggested booking extra recovery days beyond the clinic minimum. This helps to manage post-operative swelling and limited mobility effectively.

How long should I plan to stay in Thailand for hip augmentation recovery?

Most patients should stay in Thailand for 10 to 14 days after hip augmentation. This timeframe allows for wound monitoring and early mobility checks. It also includes the initial post-operative review before the long flight back to Australia.

  • Clinical review: Plan 14 days to attend the first follow-up for wound and drain checks.
  • Mobility window: Expect the first 7 days to be the most challenging for pain and movement.
  • Flying safety: Staying 10+ days minimises risks like swelling or stiffness during long flights home.
  • Specialised care: Clinics like Lelux Plastic Surgery Hospital provide VIP recovery suites for 24-hour monitoring.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Many clinics suggest 10 days. However, choosing a senior surgeon like Dr Panop Metinum can lead to smoother recoveries. He has 40+ years of experience at Lelux Hospital. His expertise often means fewer post-op adjustments, making the 14-day window more comfortable for travel.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Thailand recommend staying two weeks to manage early swelling and mobility. They advise arranging transfers that minimise sitting pressure. You should also check that the clinic provides clear rules on walking and showering.

What techniques are used for hip augmentation in Thailand?

Surgeons in Thailand perform hip augmentation using fat grafting or silicone implants. Specialists like Dr Kittisak Vichachai at Lelux Hospital often combine these with liposuction. This creates a natural hourglass contour while maintaining strict safety standards.

  • Fat grafting: Surgeons harvest fat from the abdomen or thighs to contour hips naturally.
  • Silicone implants: Providers use specialised implants for permanent volume when donor fat is low.
  • Combination contouring: Liposuction often accompanies grafting to improve the waist-to-hip ratio and overall curves.
  • Specialist credentials: Major Bangkok clinics employ surgeons certified by the Royal College of Surgeons Thailand.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Leading Thai surgeons often have high procedure volumes. Dr Phatcharasak Kraisornphongsakul has performed 20,000+ surgeries. This frequency creates expertise in managing fat survival for more predictable grafting results.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Thailand appreciate how surgeons prioritise safety while achieving natural-looking improvements. Staff are often described as exceptionally kind. They use translation tools for clear communication during recovery.

Will my hip augmentation results performed in Thailand look natural?

Hip augmentation in Thailand delivers natural results when performed by board-certified specialists who prioritise body proportions. Surgeons use fat grafting or implants to enhance curves. Success depends on selecting experts like Dr Panop Metinum, who has 40+ years of experience in hip and body contouring.

  • Fat grafting: Surgeons use the patient's own fat to sculpt soft, natural-feeling hip curves.
  • Implant placement: Specialists precisely place implants to add volume while maintaining a balanced, realistic shape.
  • Board certification: Top surgeons hold credentials from the Royal College of Surgeons of Thailand.
  • Facilities: Clinics like Wansiri Hospital use Clean Room standard theatres for safety.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Thai clinics often excel by combining procedures. Dr Phatcharasak Kraisornphongsakul at ID Clinic Bangkok has performed 20,000+ procedures. He frequently pairs hip work with liposuction. This dual approach ensures the transition between the waist and hips looks seamless and natural.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Thailand appreciate surgeons who value safety and realistic improvements. Many found that while English fluency varied, using translation tools made the surgical journey comfortable. Kind and attentive staff also helped during the process.

Which clinics are recommended for hip augmentation in Thailand?

Recommended clinics for hip augmentation in Thailand include Wansiri Hospital, ID Clinic Bangkok, and Lelux Plastic Surgery Hospital. These Bangkok centres specialise in surgical and non-surgical contouring. They employ surgeons from the Royal College of Surgeons of Thailand. These specialists perform fat transfers and implant procedures.

  • Wansiri Hospital: Features clean-room operating theatres with air filtration to reduce infection risk.
  • ID Clinic Bangkok: Led by surgeons who have performed 20,000+ procedures for international patients.
  • Lelux Hospital: Provides private VIP recovery suites with 24-hour monitoring for surgical hip patients.
  • Expert specialists: Director Dr Kittisak Vichachai at Lelux has 35+ years of surgical experience.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Many centres offer fillers. However, higher patient satisfaction usually follows surgical options at dedicated hospitals. Dr Panop Metinum at Lelux Hospital brings 40 years of experience to these complex cases. Choosing a hospital over a small clinic provides better post-operative monitoring.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Thailand value kind staff. They appreciate when surgeons prioritise safety by setting realistic goals. Clearer English communication often happens at larger hospitals. Staff there frequently use translation tools to assist with intricate medical details.
