How Much Does Cheekbone reduction Cost in Thailand in AUD?

Cheekbone reduction in Thailand typically costs between AUD $2,580 / ฿A87,735 and AUD $6,021 / ฿A204,715. The final price depends on the surgical method used, the complexity of the bone contouring, and the clinic location. Patients save around 79% compared to the average cost in Australia, which is approximately AUD $20,787 / ฿A706,755. Packages often include surgeon fees, general anaesthetic, and hospital stays in Bangkok or Phuket.

  • Bone shaving or grinding: A less invasive technique and generally the most affordable option.
  • L-osteotomy: A more complex surgical repositioning of the zygomatic bone for significant reduction.
  • Titanium plate fixation: Typically adds 20–30% to the cost for secure bone reconstruction.
  • Combined contouring: Adding jaw or chin surgery can increase the total by 50–70%.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Choosing a clinic with international JCI accreditation provides Australian patients with verified safety standards. Asia Cosmetic Hospital offers packages for about A$6,600 that include modern bone contouring with a 0% complication rate. Similarly, Wansiri Hospital features specialists like Dr. Sarut Chaisrisawadisuk, who completed a fellowship at the Australian Craniofacial Unit in Adelaide.

Data verified by Bookimed as of July 2026, based on patient requests and official quotes from 61 clinics worldwide. Median costs are based on real invoices (2025–2026) and updated monthly. Actual prices may vary.

I’m feeling better than expected this early on
My main worries before the procedure were the recovery process and the final look of the scars. My surgeon was very direct about both, clearly explaining the realistic results, the swelling timeline, and exactly where the incisions for my full neck lift would be placed behind the ears. This honesty was appreciated. The procedure was done under general anesthesia, and I’m feeling better than expected this early on. The clinic’s support has been solid; they gave me a clear aftercare guide and have been easy to reach with questions. It was also a relief that there were no additional expenses on top of the quoted price.

The clinic staff were competent, and the surgeon was clear in our consultations
Waking up, I felt groggy but managed. The clinic staff were competent, and the surgeon was clear in our consultations. The incision was placed under the breast, which is what I wanted. I am still in the early recovery phase, and it has its challenges. My pain has lessened to a mild discomfort, but sleeping through the night is difficult, and my nipples are uncomfortably hypersensitive. Overall, the medical care was solid, though the recovery process itself is demanding. It’s a serious undertaking.

Despite the discomfort, the clinic, the staff, and my surgeon were all fantastic and provided great care
Monsplaty, Tummy Tuck and 360 Liposuction. My biggest concern going into this was what the recovery would actually feel like. It's not easy. The most challenging part has definitely been the constant tight feeling, which is something to be prepared for. My surgeon used a combination of liposuction and excision. Right now there is still some swelling, so it’s too early to know how my clothes will fit differently in the end. Despite the discomfort, the clinic, the staff, and my surgeon were all fantastic and provided great care. It was a professional and supportive environment, and I'm glad I made the choice to go there.
Very clean, very inviting. After care was good too. Everything was quick and easy. Communication via whatsapp made things easier as well. I travelled solo and the staff helped that little extra.
After surgery garments are not forgiving for us longer torso people. They were a bit short which added a lil discomfort when it rolled at the back. Other than that everything was really good.

Even at just 15 days post-op, the initial aspect is already better than expected
Seeing the surgical site for the first time was the moment everything finally felt real. Even at just 15 days post-op, the initial aspect is already better than expected. We used the penile inversion technique, and while the results look promising, the recovery requires a lot of patience and steady commitment to the healing process. My biggest challenge at this stage is definitely the physical discomfort of being seated for a long time. It is a process. The clinic staff has been very attentive during my stay, and I am expecting to have the catheter removed very soon. To anyone else preparing for this surgery, it’s not easy but it is a good experience overall.

The staff deserves a special mention for being so supportive
One of my biggest worries was the potential for hidden costs, but I was relieved to find there were no additional expenses on top of what the clinic quoted. The staff deserves a special mention for being so supportive. They've stayed in touch and have been very easy to reach, which is reassuring during recovery from my traditional liposuction on two areas. What stood out about my surgeon was how carefully he marked the areas before we went into the operating room. My recovery is going about as expected so far. The whole process was handled professionally.

Just trust them
What really stood out was sitting with my doctor before the procedure to draw the beard shape together. That personal approach made a huge difference. Honestly, so far I'm feeling better than expected. The procedure was done using the FUE technique. The clinic’s support afterward has been great; they provided a clear aftercare guide and have stayed in touch with me. It was also a relief that there were no additional expenses on top of what I had paid. My advice for a future patient? Just trust them. They know what they are doing!
Excellent staff. Really took care of me. Wjile the full effects of my procedure will take several months to show. I'm very pleased so far of the outcome. They are very accommodating and generous with their time
Some language issues but some of the staff speak English well enough that it really isn't a problem

What truly stood out was my surgeon, who was honest about realistic results from the start and personally handled both the consultation and the surgery
I was thinking that going into a revision was getting unrealistic promises. What truly stood out was my surgeon, who was honest about realistic results from the start and personally handled both the consultation and the surgery. It gave me confidence. My alarplasty was done to correct an asymmetric nose, and while I'm still in the early stages of healing, it’s really too early to tell what the final outcome will be. The staff were supportive, providing a clear aftercare guide for my recovery at home. I also appreciated that there were no additional expenses on top of what I had already paid the clinic.
Caring nurses & Dr. was nice

the care provided by the surgeon and the staff was impeccable
My one-off operation went very well and the care provided by the surgeon and the staff was impeccable, apart from a few minor language issues. However, you should be prepared for a few additional costs that were not included in the original price: we had to pay for the transfers between the hotel and the clinic ourselves, and the wound care supplies were insufficient, which amounted to a mid-double-digit sum in total. My most important tip for future patients would be to make absolutely sure you clarify any dietary requirements (vegetarian/halal/...) with the clinic before you arrive.
The coordination team is very dedicated and always available. The staff are consistently very friendly and go out of their way to help. A very comprehensive package with extensive, thorough preliminary examinations and no hidden costs. A superbly equipped single room, including a sofa bed for an accompanying person.
Contrary to what was advertised, there was no interpreter. The nursing staff, in particular, did not always have a good enough command of English to explain everything clearly and in detail. The consultation with the surgeon was less detailed than expected. It wasn’t always entirely clear which services were included in the package and which weren’t (particularly transfers) – but there were no major hidden costs. Hospital food/light meals after operations are always a challenge, and perhaps even more so in a different cultural context – I wasn’t asked about any specific dietary preferences, so anyone who absolutely needs vegetarian, vegan, kosher or halal food should definitely clarify this in advance; in my opinion, the hospital bed was very hard, which is significantly more uncomfortable when you can’t move around much

I'm confident in my choice and would recommend this clinic
My biggest worry was how the results would actually look and feel afterward. Now that I'm in the early stages of recovery from the fat transfer graft, I can say the outcome is positive. The girth is already noticeably thicker. Everything is still slightly numb, as expected, but the visual change is definitely there. The surgeon and the entire staff were professional and clear with all information, which helped manage my concerns from the beginning. It's a relief. Based on the care I received and the initial results, I'm confident in my choice and would recommend this clinic.

The most reassuring part of the whole process was sitting with the surgeon before we started
The most reassuring part of the whole process was sitting with the surgeon before we started. He took the time to draw the hairline with me and clearly explained the entire FUE extraction and implantation process, which helped manage my expectations for the 2,000-3,000 graft procedure. Now in the early stages of healing, I'm feeling about as expected. The clinic has stayed in touch, which is good. Overall, it was a solid experience with the surgeon and staff, and I appreciated that there were no additional expenses on top of what I was quoted.

The entire staff and my surgeon were great and supportive through it all
My biggest fear was the recovery, and it’s certainly a process that requires patience. The entire staff and my surgeon were great and supportive through it all. Right now, my chin is still very swollen, so I can't properly see the projection from the large, solid silicone implant yet. The numbness has been the hardest part. My lower lip feels slightly numb, which has made eating the biggest challenge so far. It’s a strange sensation. Despite the temporary side effects of healing, the care I received was solid and I would recommend this clinic.
Really loved the stuff they were very cute and helpful

My breathing is now even better than before
My biggest concern was that the result might look unnatural or that my breathing might be affected. Neither of these things happened. In fact, my breathing is now even better than before. During the open rhinoplasty, a small bump was removed and the bridge of my nose is now, even so soon after the procedure, already straighter, just as I wanted. In addition, the tip of my nose already looks much more defined. The staff and the surgeon were consistently supportive and answered all my questions patiently, which gave me a great deal of reassurance. I felt I was in good hands.

The surgeon and the whole medical team have been absolutely brilliant
I was really worried about the recovery period, and the truth is it hasn’t been as easy as I expected. My stomach is still swollen, and the compression garments are still tight, but the hardest part so far has been dealing with the annoying numb patches. That said, the surgeon and the whole medical team have been absolutely brilliant. The doctor explained to me that he used ultrasound technology (VASER) and removed between 3 and 4 litres of fat, and I felt I was in safe hands with them. Unfortunately, the clinic’s facilities weren’t up to the same standard as the quality of medical care, which is why I’ve given it a lower rating. Overall, I’m optimistic about the final result.
The medical and nursing staff are truly exceptional

My surgeon was excellent, a definite 5/5
If you're considering a tummy tuck, know that the recovery is a real process. My surgeon was excellent, a definite 5/5. He performed a full tuck and repositioned my belly button, and everything already feels very tight, which is good. My biggest challenge right now is the compression garment; it's just a constant presence. While the surgeon was fantastic, there were some minor organizational points with the clinic and staff that could have been smoother. It's still too early to see the final flat result with all the healing left to do, but I feel confident in my choice. I would give this clinic a 9/10 recommendation to a friend.
The doctor he is excellent .soft spoken ,attentive and a great surgeon.
Rooms could be bigger so that attendant could stay at night. They have a reclining sofa not suitable for night sleeping. Front desk managers could be more attentive to every detail.

FAQ about Cheekbone reduction in Thailand

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

What is the recovery process like for cheekbone reduction surgery in Thailand?

Recovery for cheekbone reduction surgery in Thailand generally requires a 10 to 14-day stay. Patients typically spend 1 day in hospital for monitoring. Initial swelling and bruising occur during the first 2 weeks. Final facial contours mature over 6 to 12 months as the bone heals.

  • Hospitalisation: Most clinics include a 1-day hospital stay for immediate post-operative observation.
  • Initial window: The first 7–14 days involve significant swelling managed with provided painkillers.
  • Specialised aftercare: Centres like Dr. Chen Surgery Hospital offer light therapy to speed up healing.
  • Dietary restrictions: A liquid or soft diet is essential for the first few days.
  • Activity limits: Heavy exercise must be avoided for at least 3–4 weeks post-surgery.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Thai surgeons often have niche expertise that directly benefits Australians. Dr. Sarut Chaisrisawadisuk at Wansiri Hospital completed his craniomaxillofacial fellowship at the Royal Adelaide Hospital. This Australian training provides familiar surgical standards for patients travelling from Brisbane or Sydney.

Patient Consensus: Patients find the recovery manageable through structured care pathways. These pathways include pre-travel consultations and professional transfers. Many appreciate having English-speaking staff and free interpreters in Bangkok to help follow post-operative routines.

Are there specific post-operative care instructions for cheekbone reduction patients in Thailand?

Post-operative care for cheekbone reduction in Thailand focuses on bone stability and swelling management. Patients wear a compression garment continuously for 3 days and use cold compresses. Protocols at JCI-accredited centres like Yanhee International Hospital or Asia Cosmetic Hospital require strict oral hygiene.

  • Compression garments: Wear the facial garment 24/7 for 3 days to control initial swelling.
  • Sleep positioning: Keep the head elevated on 2–3 pillows to help fluid drain naturally.
  • Dietary limits: Eat soft foods like congee or smoothies for 14 days after surgery.
  • Oral hygiene: Use saline or prescribed mouthwash as incisions are often hidden inside the mouth.
  • Activity restrictions: Avoid strenuous exercise or heavy lifting for 4 weeks to protect facial bones.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Basic recovery lasts 2 weeks, but specialised aftercare makes a difference in Bangkok. Dr Chen Surgery Hospital International Center offers hyperbaric oxygen therapy and light therapy. These treatments specifically target deep tissue bruising to speed up the return to normal activity.

Patient Consensus: Plan to stay in Thailand long enough for all scheduled wound checks. Patients found that avoiding side-sleeping and side-pressure on the face was vital for comfortable healing.

Will I be under anaesthesia during a cheekbone reduction procedure in Thailand?

Cheekbone reduction in Thailand is performed under general anaesthesia in a theatre. This keeps patients completely asleep and pain-free during the bone surgery. The procedure typically requires a 1-day hospital stay for monitoring by an anaesthetist and nursing team.

  • Anaesthesia type: General anaesthesia provides comfort during bone contouring and complex facial reshaping.
  • Monitoring team: Facilities like Asia Cosmetic Hospital involve both anaesthetists and cardiologists during surgery.
  • Hospital stay: Most surgical packages include a 1-day hospital stay for immediate observation after surgery.
  • Facility standards: JCI-accredited centres such as Yanhee International Hospital use dedicated anaesthesia teams.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Thai clinics often have surgeons with international backgrounds. For example, Dr. Sarut Chaisrisawadisuk at Wansiri Hospital completed a fellowship in Adelaide, Australia. This provides Australian patients with a surgeon familiar with Western clinical communication and safety standards.

Patient Consensus: Patients note that waking up with swelling and bandaging is standard after this surgery. They suggest confirming that an anaesthetist, rather than a sedation nurse, handles the medication in Thailand.

How long do I need to stay in Thailand for cheekbone reduction recovery?

Patients should plan to stay in Thailand for 10 to 14 days following cheekbone reduction surgery. Clinics like Asia Cosmetic Hospital require only a 1-day hospital stay. However, surgeons generally recommend 7 to 10 days in-country for essential post-operative checks. This period helps manage initial swelling before flying home to Australia.

  • Clinical inpatient stay: Most JCI-accredited facilities require 1 night in hospital for monitoring after general anaesthesia.
  • Initial recovery window: Days 1 to 7 involve significant swelling and liquid diets while the bone heals.
  • Flight clearance timing: Most surgeons advise waiting 7 to 10 days before boarding long-haul flights.
  • Local follow-up care: Standard protocols at centres like Yanhee International include stitch removal at day 7.
  • Swelling reduction therapies: Specialised clinics offer hyperbaric oxygen or light therapy to speed up visible healing.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Basic packages often show a 1-day hospital stay. However, the real differentiator for Australians is the follow-up infrastructure. Surgeons like Dr. Sarut Chaisrisawadisuk at Wansiri Hospital trained at the Royal Adelaide Hospital. This experience helps them understand the physical demands of the 9-hour flight home. They will clear patients only when bone stability is confirmed.

Patient Consensus: Plan for 2 weeks in Thailand to allow swelling to settle. Moving normally takes longer than pain control. Stay close to the clinic and arrange soft food and upright pillows for resting. Proximity to the hospital reduces stress if extra wound care is needed.

What is the recommended age range for cheekbone reduction surgery in Thailand?

The recommended age range for cheekbone reduction in Thailand is 20 to 45 years. Surgeons require patients to be at least 20 to check that facial bones have fully matured. Those over 45 can still undergo the procedure. However, surgeons must assess skin elasticity to prevent sagging after bone volume is reduced.

  • Bone maturity: Skeletal growth must be complete for stable, long-term surgical results.
  • Upper age limit: Surgeons evaluate bone density in patients over 50 before approving surgery.
  • Skin elasticity: Patients over 35 may need additional lifting techniques to support facial tissue.
  • Clinical safety: All-inclusive packages often include cardiologists and anaesthetists for older patient safety.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Thai specialists like Dr Sarut Chaisrisawadisuk at Wansiri Hospital bring unique perspectives to bone contouring. Dr Sarut completed a fellowship at the Australian Craniofacial Unit in Adelaide. This training is particularly valuable for Australian patients seeking surgeons who understand Western facial anatomy.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Thailand emphasise waiting until facial growth is finished rather than focusing on a number. They recommend asking surgeons how they assess bone maturity and stability before booking.

Can I combine cheekbone reduction with other procedures while in Thailand?

Patients can combine cheekbone reduction with other facial surgeries in Thailand. This can help achieve a complete facial profile change. It is common to pair this with jaw reduction, chin sculpting, or rhinoplasty. This approach consolidates anaesthesia and recovery time. Hospitals like Yanhee International and Wansiri provide facial bone contouring plans.

  • V-shape contouring: Combine cheekbone reduction with jaw or chin surgery for a slim profile.
  • Facial rejuvenation: Surgeons often perform facelifts or eyelid surgery alongside bone contouring.
  • Digital preparation: Clinics like Dr. Chen Surgery Hospital use 3D scanning for combined pre-op planning.
  • Safety protocols: Procedures occur in JCI-accredited theatres under cardiologists and anaesthetists for safety.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Bookimed data shows several Thai surgeons have completed fellowships in Australian hospitals. One example is Dr. Sarut Chaisrisawadisuk at Wansiri Hospital. Choosing these specialists ensures treatment plans align with Australian surgical standards. You could potentially save over 81% compared to local costs.

Patient Consensus: Combining procedures in Thailand helps consolidate recovery. However, patients recommend staying longer before flying home. Arrange a hotel assistant for the first week to help with medications and soft food. This is important as jaw movement is limited.
