"At the end, I wish to thank the Bookimed team for all the effort and the help I had for making the consultation happened successfully
The hospital is very modern in building and very organised since arrival you will have someone from the administration to assist in registration and then will take you to the clinic where your appointment is scheduled. Waiting time is reasonable, it is always expected to wait sometimes after your scheduled time to see the Doctor. In my case, I think I should have taken an appointment from first day to directly see the surgeon and not the endocrinologist. Do two days had been spent with the endocrinologist to repeat exactly the same procedure that I had completed in Bahrain, ie repeating the ultrasound which became in result exactly as a replica of the report done in Bahrain. One test was done new which was the anti thyroid plus vitamin D which I thought unnecessary. I do not know! . Any way after meeting again the endocrinologist with results of ultrasound and lab test results, she decided to refer me to the ENT surgeon who saw the ultrasound taken at Bumrungrad Hospital Nd my local hospital plus the biopsy reports and recommended operation to remove the the right thyroid node and if found being cancerous then again tho remove the left side node, A period of two weeks was advised for operation and follow up. I asked for an estimate then I was given a rough estimate for an operation which is probably three times the total cost of the operation in Bahrain, and their estimate did not cover pre operation procedure, not the admission cost , not the follow up visits changes neither the medicine. In conclusion, in my particular case I found my self to probably to be spending 8 times the cost if am going to do the same treatment I bahrain. At the end , I wish to thank the Bookimed treat for all the effort and the help I had for making the consultation happened successfully. From the bottom of my heart big THANKS to all and I wish you a good luck. Yours , Hameed Zuhair

I would like to thank him for his effort and sensitivity
The doctor proposed a different medication for my diabetes 2. He proposed blood test and package what I found was not useful since I had a blood test on which he base is prescription of last year. Also the medication that he suggested I can find it much cheaper outside of the hospital.

The hospital environment is very nice, and the staff very friendly
The hospital environment is very nice, and the staff very friendly. The doctor on the other hand was rather aggressive and needs to learn some better manners. She really made me feel uncomfortable and wasn't that helpful, I am sure she is very knowledgeable but I dont think I will return.

FAQ about Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) in Thailand

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

Is bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) in Thailand safe?

Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) in Thailand is safe when administered by board-certified specialists. Patients should choose facilities with accreditation from the Joint Commission International (JCI). Safety is maintained through physician-led protocols. These involve comprehensive pathology, personalised dosing, and US FDA-approved technologies to manage menopause and hormonal imbalances.

  • Specialist-led care: Treatment is supervised by endocrinologists or gynaecologists with Thai board certifications.
  • Rigorous screening: Pathologists perform extensive blood tests to establish baseline levels before prescribing.
  • International standards: Facilities like Prime Fertility Clinic hold JCI and ISO certifications for safety.
  • Diverse delivery: Options include medically monitored creams, injections, and testosterone replacement therapy (TRT).

Bookimed Expert Insight: High-quality BHRT in Thailand is found in specialised hospitals rather than general wellness centres. Data shows these centres serve thousands of international patients annually. For safety, choose clinics led by physicians with American Board certifications. Those with university teaching backgrounds also prioritise evidence-based endocrine management.

Patient Consensus: Patients suggest BHRT safety depends on the specific clinic rather than the destination. They recommend verifying the qualifications of each doctor. Patients should also secure a written follow-up plan for blood tests. This helps with safe dose adjustments after returning to Australia.

Do I need a prescription to access bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) in Thailand?

Accessing bioidentical hormone replacement therapy in Thailand requires a medical consultation and prescription. You can find these at specialist wellness clinics or hospitals. Some basic hormones are available over-the-counter at retail pharmacies. However, testosterone and customised bioidentical formulations always require oversight from a licensed Thai specialist.

  • Clinical assessment: Specialists like Dr Anyarat Vichayawannakul at Intrarat Hospital require initial blood tests.
  • Controlled substances: Testosterone is a strictly controlled substance requiring a valid Thai prescription.
  • Customised dosing: Clinics manufacture personalised blends based on specific progesterone and oestrogen needs.
  • Specialist oversight: Endocrinologists and urologists manage therapy for long-term hormonal balance.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Thailand has many clinics specialising in endocrinology. JCI-accredited facilities like Prime Fertility Clinic serve 4,000+ patients annually. Australian patients often find that medical-grade BHRT in Bangkok provides more customisation than retail pharmacies. Leading doctors typically integrate blood work into the treatment price. This ensures the dosage matches the patient's biological profile precisely.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Thailand report that booking a clinic consultation is essential. Bringing Australian medical records speeds up the process. It also helps create a smooth transition to local care.

What are the common bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) treatments available in Thailand?

Thailand offers diverse bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) treatments through specialist anti-ageing and endocrinology centres. Common options include subcutaneous pellet implants, transdermal gels, and testosterone replacement therapy (TRT). These plant-derived hormones match human chemistry. Board-certified specialists often manage these in JCI-accredited Bangkok facilities.

  • Subcutaneous pellets: Small implants placed under the skin for slow, consistent hormone release over months.
  • Transdermal delivery: Daily topical gels, creams, or patches that absorb directly into the bloodstream.
  • Injectable therapy: Periodic injections for long-term hormone delivery, particularly for testosterone replacement programs.
  • Oral options: Micronised progesterone or estradiol capsules often used in combined hormone balancing protocols.
  • Specialist monitoring: Treatment includes diagnostic blood panels and follow-up managed by endocrinology or urology specialists.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Many Australian patients seek BHRT for menopause. However, Thailand’s private sector has a heavy focus on testosterone replacement. Clinics like Dr. Suebpong Angchoun’s Eternity Clinic in Phuket specialise in TRT and men’s longevity. Confirming your specific hormone goals during initial consultation ensures you're matched with the right specialist.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Thailand often choose pellet implants for their long-acting convenience and steady release. Many appreciate the customised hormone mixes provided after detailed blood tests at private clinics.

What is the difference between conventional HRT and bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) in Thailand clinics?

Thailand clinics distinguish BHRT from conventional HRT by hormone molecular structure and source material. Conventional HRT uses synthetic or animal-derived hormones in fixed doses. BHRT uses plant-derived hormones chemically identical to human molecules. These are tailored to individuals through blood or saliva diagnostic testing.

  • Hormone source: BHRT uses soy or yam derivatives identical to oestradiol, progesterone, and testosterone.
  • Dosing model: Specialists at clinics like Prime Fertility Clinic provide tailored doses based on testing.
  • Care setting: BHRT is often found in anti-ageing centres for vitality and long-term wellness.
  • Australian relevance: BHRT costs $1,200 to $2,000, compared to the $900 Australian average.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While many Australian patients seek BHRT for menopause, Thailand clinics often integrate it into broader regenerative protocols. Centres like The Demarest Clinic or LRC Fertility Clinic link hormonal balance with screenings or cellular therapies. This holistic approach is why many Bangkok facilities serve over 4,000 patients annually.

Patient Consensus: Patients suggest asking for exact generic drug names and doses in writing before booking. They recommend confirming if the clinic uses standardised products or compounded preparations to share with doctors in Australia.

What symptoms do people typically seek bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) for in Thailand?

Patients in Thailand typically seek bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) to manage menopause, perimenopause, and andropause. They look to alleviate hot flushes, night sweats, sleep disturbances, and mood instability. Specialists also treat low libido, fatigue, and cognitive issues like brain fog through tailored plans in Bangkok and Phuket.

  • Menopause relief: Eases hot flushes, night sweats, and vaginal dryness for perimenopausal women.
  • Vitality boost: Addresses chronic fatigue, low energy, and decreased motivation during hormonal shifts.
  • Mental clarity: Reduces brain fog, anxiety, and memory loss linked to ageing.
  • Male sexual health: Manages andropause symptoms including low libido and poor muscle recovery.
  • Metabolic support: Targets weight changes, hair thinning, and hormonal acne through endocrine balancing.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Thai wellness centres often combine BHRT with specialised diagnostics not always accessible in Australia. For instance, Intrarat Hospital uses specialists in both endocrinology and reproductive medicine to balance hormones. This dual approach helps quality-of-life symptoms like sleep and mood drive treatment decisions alongside lab results.

Patient Consensus: Many travellers choose Thailand because clinicians prioritise quality-of-life symptoms over just blood test numbers. They focus on issues like low energy and mood. People feel heard when discussing decreased sex drive and the feeling of not being themselves.

What are the recommended clinics and hospitals for bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) in Bangkok?

Recommended Bangkok facilities for bioidentical hormone replacement therapy include Prime Fertility Clinic, Intrarat Hospital, and Doctor Aomthong Clinic. These centres specialise in personalised hormone balancing using endocrinology-directed protocols. Most clinics hold international accreditations like JCI or ISO for high safety standards.

  • Prime Fertility Clinic: JCI-accredited facility providing personalised BHRT and hormone profiles for over 4,000 patients annually.
  • Intrarat Hospital: Features specialists like Dr Anyarat Vichayawannakul who focus on endocrinology and metabolism disorders.
  • Doctor Aomthong Clinic: Led by American Board-certified physicians specialising in aesthetic gynaecology and women’s hormonal health.
  • Menness Wellness Clinic: Offers targeted male sexual health care and testosterone replacement therapy under board-certified urologists.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Many patients search for general wellness clinics. However, results are often better from fertility-focused centres like LRC Fertility or Prime Fertility. These clinics maintain high laboratory standards and precise hormone monitoring. This clinical oversight helps avoid hormone level fluctuations common with less regulated providers.

Patient Consensus: Patients often recommend clinics that partner with licensed compounding pharmacies. This helps confirm high hormone quality. Many highlight the importance of confirming telehealth follow-up options for continued monitoring once back in Australia.
