Set aside more money for the treatment than is stated. Taxes were added on top at the clinic, and the dental cleaning also costs extra. I ended up with additional costs of around $100.
It was very easy to book the appointment, and on the day of the treatment everything went really quickly. Within an hour, my teeth were beautifully whitened.
One negative aspect was the lack of transparency regarding the costs. The description of the treatment suggested that, for $370, you would receive three sessions of bleaching plus a professional teeth clean. However, when I got there, I had to pay extra for the teeth cleaning, and on top of that, a hefty amount of tax was suddenly added to the total price, which meant the whole thing ended up costing nearly $100 more. Fortunately, I don’t trust anything, so I’d already factored in additional costs when planning my budget. Even so, it would be nice to be able to estimate the costs in advance.

FAQ about Smile makeover in Republic of Korea

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

Will my smile makeover results in South Korea look natural?

Smile makeover results in South Korea focus on facial harmony rather than artificial whitening. Surgeons use ultra-thin porcelain veneers and digital smile design to match restorations to the patient’s skin tone and features. Specialised Seoul clinics often preserve more natural enamel by limiting tooth shaving to 0.3–0.6 mm.

  • Microscopic precision: Specialists at DARUN Dental Clinic use surgical microscopes for highly accurate tooth preparation.
  • Minimal preparation: Clinics like S-plant Dental Hospital limit enamel shaving to 0.3–0.9 mm for restorations.
  • Digital planning: Teams use 3D software to align new teeth with the patient’s natural lip line.
  • Prosthodontic expertise: US board-certified specialists often oversee complex cases to achieve functional, natural-looking bites.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While many Australian clinics charge $18,500, Seoul providers offer high-end E.max ceramic veneers. Prices range from $7,200 to $14,500. S-plant Dental Hospital even provides on-site labs for same-day adjustments. This allows patients to verify the shade and shape in person before final bonding.

Patient Consensus: For a seamless look in the Republic of Korea, patients should share photos of their desired subtlety. Patients recommend video consultations to confirm the clinic’s aesthetic avoids an overly dramatic finish.

What treatments are typically included in a smile makeover in South Korea?

Smile makeovers in South Korea typically include ultra-thin ceramic veneers, laser teeth whitening, and gum contouring to achieve a uniform K-pop aesthetic. Seoul clinics often combine facial aesthetics like dermal fillers and thread lifts into dental packages. This enhances the overall smile line and reduces nasolabial folds.

  • Porcelain veneers: Minimally invasive ceramic laminates measure 0.1–0.3mm to preserve natural tooth enamel.
  • Gum contouring: Laser gingivectomy reshapes uneven gum lines to correct gummy smiles.
  • Facial aesthetics: Dermal fillers and thread lifts target deep creases around the mouth.
  • Rapid technology: On-site labs at clinics like S-plant Dental Hospital enable same-day dental adjustments.

Bookimed Expert Insight: South Korean providers often define a smile makeover more broadly than Australian clinics by combining dentistry with dermatology. Packages frequently bundle Hollywood toning lasers or fat dissolving injections to refine the skin and jawline surrounding the teeth. Patients should confirm if their chosen clinic specialises in dental surgery or facial aesthetics, as these often require separate specialist departments.

Patient Consensus: Patients find that Korean clinics provide highly tailored results using 3D imaging for precise planning. Many are surprised by the inclusion of facial treatments like fillers alongside traditional veneers to complete the aesthetic look.

Can I get a smile makeover in just one day in Seoul, South Korea?

Seoul clinics offer same-day smile makeovers using CAD/CAM technology and on-site dental laboratories. These specialised centres, including KOIHA-accredited facilities, complete entire procedures like veneers or crowns in a single session. The session lasts 8 to 9 hours and caters specifically to international dental tourists.

  • On-site milling: Dental labs use CAD/CAM to design and create veneers immediately.
  • Fast-track techniques: Specialist clinics perform full restorations, including DARUN and Emax options.
  • Time commitment: Expect a full 8–9-hour day for consultation, design, and fitting.
  • Adjustment period: Most patients require roughly 1 day to adjust to new prosthetics.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Seoul's dental infrastructure favours volume and speed, but the highest-quality outcomes come from clinics where doctors, like those at S-plant Dental Hospital, handle consultations personally rather than via managers. Choosing clinics with on-site milling isn't just about speed. It allows for immediate, precise adjustments that usually take weeks at standard labs.

Patient Consensus: Same-day veneers in South Korea are efficient for travellers who bring their own recent dental scans to avoid extra fees. Most patients find that boutique clinics offer better doctor access. However, an extra 24 hours in Seoul helps with final comfort checks.

How long does the entire smile makeover process in South Korea take?

A smile makeover in South Korea typically takes 7 to 14 days for veneers and crowns. Complex cases involving dental implants require a 4–8 week stay, or two separate trips. The process starts with 3D digital scanning and ends with permanent bonding.

  • Veneer timeline: Most patients finish porcelain or no-prep veneers within 7–10 days in Seoul.
  • Same-day adjustments: Clinics like DARUN Dental use proprietary techniques to reduce visits and provide immediate adjustments.
  • Implant integration: Full fixation for implants usually takes 1–2 months before permanent restorations are fitted.
  • Surgical recovery: Stitches are typically removed 7–10 days after procedures like sinus lifting or bone grafting.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While many Australian patients expect a long stay, South Korea leads in 3D modelling technology. S-plant Dental Hospital maintains a 99.6% success rate using Anatomage Guide 3D software. This precision allows doctors to place implants with minimal tissue disruption. It often shortens the initial recovery phase.

Patient Consensus: Patients should plan for 2–3 weeks in South Korea. This timeframe applies if their makeover includes jaw contouring or complex surgeries. Most dental-only patients find 5–10 days sufficient for a natural-looking result and professional stitch removal.

What materials are most commonly used for smile makeovers in South Korean clinics?

South Korean clinics primarily use E.max ceramic for veneers and zirconia for crowns in smile makeovers. These materials are favoured for their extreme durability and natural translucency. Leading Seoul facilities integrate these with titanium implants from Swiss Straumann or local Osstem. This replaces missing teeth while maintaining a seamless aesthetic.

  • E.max ceramic: Provides high-strength porcelain for veneers requiring minimal shaving of 0.3–0.6 mm.
  • Zirconia crowns: Used for full restorations, requiring slightly more tooth reduction of 0.6–0.9 mm.
  • Titanium implants: Clinics use premium brands like Straumann, Astra, and Osstem for permanent tooth replacement.
  • Neuramis fillers: Often paired with dental work to treat nasolabial folds and enhance smile lines.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Many top Seoul clinics, such as S-plant Dental Hospital, operate on-site labs using E.max ceramic. This setup allows technicians to perform same-day adjustments to the shape and shade. Specialists can match your new veneers to your natural teeth in a single session.

Patient Consensus: Patients in the Republic of Korea often combine dental veneers with facial fillers. This gives them a complete aesthetic result. Explicitly requesting zirconia or E.max ensures you get the durable, stain-resistant materials. These are preferred for long-term wear.

What is Digital Smile Design and is it included in smile makeovers in South Korea?

Digital Smile Design uses computer software like Exocad to preview your new smile before treatment. Dentists combine 3D scans and facial analysis to create precise dental plans. In South Korea, this technology is a standard inclusion for comprehensive smile makeover packages. These are available at major Seoul clinics.

  • Digital simulation: Software simulates post-treatment results by matching unique facial proportions.
  • CAD/CAM milling: On-site labs use digital designs to create veneers in one day.
  • Precision tools: Practitioners use Exocad and 3D imaging to create maps accurate within 100 microns.
  • Procedural range: Plans cover porcelain veneers, Emax crowns, and full-arch Hollywood Smile restorations.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While most Seoul clinics use digital CAD/CAM milling, some specialists still use hand-finishing for ultra-thin options. S-plant Dental Hospital, for instance, offers hand-finished restorations as thin as 0.3 mm. This manual touch often preserves more tooth structure than purely machine-milled alternatives.

Patient Consensus: Digital mock-ups in South Korea let patients test the fit and appearance before finalisation. Clinics integrate speech patterns into these previews so the new smile looks natural while talking.

What should I ask my dentist in South Korea before a smile makeover?

Before a smile makeover in South Korea, confirm the clinician’s credentials, veneer preparation methods, and follow-up protocols for international patients. Ask for detailed breakdowns of E.max or porcelain material durability. Also verify if the specialist holds certifications from the Ministry of Health and Welfare.

  • Tooth preparation: Ask if they use minimal-prep techniques involving only 0.3–0.6 mm of enamel reduction.
  • Clinician verification: Confirm the specialist performing the makeover matches the credentials and photos provided.
  • Material quality: Check that the clinic uses original Swiss Straumann systems or E.max ceramic for restorations.
  • Follow-up care: Request a formal aftercare plan to show your Australian GP or local dentist.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While 1-day makeovers are popular in Seoul, clinics like S-plant Dental Hospital use on-site labs and 3D modelling to maintain a 99.6% success rate. Choosing a clinic with U.S. board-certified specialists, such as those at DARUN Dental, means your treatment meets international functional and aesthetic standards.

Patient Consensus: Ask for real patient photos without heavy editing or makeup. Request a video consultation before flying to Seoul to make sure the doctor explains all risks clearly. Confirm the final price includes all x-rays and deswelling therapies to avoid unexpected costs.
