How Much Does Removal of meningioma Cost in Republic of Korea in AUD?

Removal of meningioma in South Korea typically costs between AUD $26,496 and AUD $48,696. The total price depends on the hospital tier, tumour location, and whether neurosurgeons use robotic-assisted systems. In Australia, this procedure averages AUD $55,857, meaning patients can save approximately 33% by travelling. Standard Korean medical packages usually cover the surgical team, anaesthesia, and a hospital stay of up to 14 days.

  • Hospital tier: top-tier university centres in Seoul generally charge 15–20% more than regional facilities.
  • Surgical removal: traditional craniotomy costs vary based on tumour size and proximity to vital structures.
  • Radiosurgery: non-invasive Gamma Knife or CyberKnife treatments typically cost 20–30% less than invasive surgery.
  • Diagnostic imaging: MRI with contrast and PET/CT scans add specific costs before the surgical intervention.
  • Technology premium: using AI-integrated or robotic systems often increases the procedure budget by 20–30%.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Choosing a digital-first hospital provides a significant safety advantage for Australian patients. Seoul National University Bundang Hospital uses the BESTcare system to reduce medical errors during complex neurosurgery. Large facilities like Severance Hospital and SNUH manage over 1.5 million annual patients. This massive procedure volume contributes to high success rates for deep-seated tumours. Selecting JCI-accredited centres ensures international quality standards are met throughout the stay.

"I am very happy for getting to know BOOKIMED, professionals really work there, and most importantly, they are not indifferent people
I have breast cancer and I went through chemotherapy in Moscow. Six sessions have passed. It was very difficult to tolerate these procedures. A doctor in Kazakhstan said that this is enough, it is necessary to switch to tableted chemistry. And Moscow offered to continue doing chemotherapy. Opinions are divided. It was necessary to find a third party. I accidentally found your site on the Internet. Ekaterina Koliko wrote very quickly. The benevolence of Katyusha was immediately arranged towards her. She asked me what I would like to go to. I said that I want to go to the Severance clinic in Korea. Katyusha approved my choice. I sent all the necessary documents and Katyusha quickly redirected everything to the clinic. They began to wait for the invitation. For some reason (and for what I already knew in the clinic), there was no invitation. I am very grateful to Katyusha that she was in touch all the time, supported me, gave me hope. We arrived in Seoul in the morning, we were met by a transfer, brought to the hotel. After lunch, they were already in the clinic, I began to take tests. Constantly with me was one of the translators. Girls translators are great fellows, these are Lida, Olesya, Sofia, Tatyana, Alena. Any question could be addressed, they always prompted. They are professionals. Always with a smile, polite, with enormous patience, and most importantly, they understand that they work with a special audience, with people who did not come to rest. Someone to find out the diagnosis, and someone to do the operation. Thank you so much to the girls. The clinic was impressive. Doctors are professionals. The equipment is super. I got the opinion of a third party, it coincided with the opinion of a doctor from Kazakhstan. I was prescribed a prescription, I bought medicines at the pharmacy and started drinking on arrival home. I also want to write about Darina, who was engaged in transfer (the transfer to the clinic was very convenient and met and carried out), the selection of the hotel was also always in touch, and if I had any questions, she quickly answered them. I want to say that I am very happy for getting to know BOOKIMED, professionals really work there, and most importantly, they are not indifferent people. I am grateful to the Almighty and all who were near me. And the words of the doctor gave me inspiration and inspired great hope, for the sake of these words it was worth a long way to go. Once again, many thanks to all.

My recommendations to friends, acquaintances only this Clinic! The prices are reasonable
Good day! I would like to share my impressions of being in the clinic. Thanks to the coordinators, the staff of the international clinic center, all wishes were taken into account. Special thanks to the attending physician, the procedure was perfect, the staff is very attentive, courteous. They are located in a 5-bed room, but at the same time there is no discomfort, food can be chosen taking into account personal taste preferences (Korean, European cuisine) and at the same time satisfying and varied. I can say one thing, there is no limit to my gratitude, my recommendations to friends, acquaintances only this Clinic! The prices are reasonable.

"The results were unbelievably positive!"
The staff is nice, but everything is on stream, as it does not take my problem seriously, as much as I would like! After my husband insistently said that it would be necessary to do so, so this, then after that we were heard.

FAQ about Removal of meningioma in Republic of Korea

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

How successful is meningioma removal surgery in the Republic of Korea?

Meningioma removal surgery in South Korea is highly successful, with leading hospitals reporting a 95% success rate. Specialists achieve complete resection in over 81% of Grade I cases. Centres like Seoul National University Hospital perform 3,800+ neurosurgical interventions annually. Survival rates reach 96.2%.

  • Technological precision: Surgeons use Gamma Knife and Novalis systems to protect healthy brain tissue.
  • Clinical excellence: Seoul National University Hospital maintains a 90% success rate for radiosurgery patients.
  • Global accreditation: Major centres hold JCI or GHA certifications, meeting strict international safety standards.
  • High volume: Severance Hospital performs 40,000+ operations yearly, ensuring surgeons have vast procedural experience.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data shows South Korean centres often outperform Western benchmarks for complex cases. For instance, Seoul National University Hospital reports brain tumour survival rates that exceed US averages. This is driven by high-volume centres performing thousands of neurosurgical procedures annually. This provides a level of specialised skill that is rare globally.

Patient Consensus: Patients find that Korean hospitals offer highly individualised success assessments based on tumour location. They highlight the value of 24/7 interpreter services. They also highlight the seamless transition to specialised rehabilitation and MRI follow-up care in Seoul.

What is the typical recovery process following meningioma surgery in the Republic of Korea?

Recovery follows a 14-day high-intensity clinical protocol in the Republic of Korea. It begins with 48 hours in the ICU for neurological monitoring. Patients then move to a general ward. They receive 7 to 10 days of supervised rehabilitation there. A final flight clearance check-up follows.

  • Intensive care: Specialist teams monitor neurological stability and manage brain swelling for 2 days.
  • Ward stay: Patients receive around-the-clock observation for 7 to 10 days in the hospital.
  • Rehabilitation: Daily physical and occupational therapy sessions typically begin while still in the ward.
  • Flight clearance: Specialists perform brain imaging 14 days post-surgery to check for stable intracranial pressure.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Hospital stays in Seoul are significantly longer than in Australia. They often last 10 full days. Digital hospitals, such as Seoul National University Bundang Hospital, use BESTcare safety systems. These systems track recovery. This extended inpatient period allows for 10 hours of professional rehabilitation before discharge.

Patient Consensus: South Korean hospitals provide 24/7 care and coordinate detailed imaging before departure. Professional interpreters help bridge the gap. They assist during daily rounds and therapy sessions in Seoul hospitals.

Which clinics in the Republic of Korea specialise in neurosurgery for meningiomas?

Seoul National University Hospital (SNUH), Severance Hospital, and Seoul National University Bundang Hospital (SNUBH) lead in meningioma neurosurgery. These JCI-accredited centres use Gamma Knife radiosurgery and specialised imaging for precise tumour removal. Specialists at SNUH alone perform over 3,800 neurosurgical procedures annually with 90% success rates.

  • Seoul National University Hospital: Performs 3,800 annual neurosurgical interventions with 24/7 interpreter services.
  • Severance Hospital: Accredited by JCI and KOIHA, partnering with MD Anderson for oncology.
  • SNU Bundang Hospital: Completed 1,000+ Gamma Knife procedures for head and neck tumours.
  • Ewha Womans University: Holds JCI and KOIHA accreditations focusing on patient safety standards.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Patient volume is the most reliable quality signal in Seoul. SNUH and Severance combined handle over 5.5 million outpatients annually. This massive scale allows neurosurgeons to specialise in niche tumour locations, such as the skull base. This specialisation is vital for safe meningioma excision.

Patient Consensus: Focus on major university hospitals that handle complex cases routinely. Get a clear surgical report from an Australian specialist before seeking an assessment in Korea.
