I give Saero Plastic Surgery a 5 because they exceeded my expectations
Dr. Pak is very knowledgeable and professional. It has been over a week sonce my surgery and see.s that everything is healing well. He prescribed a pack of antibiotics and pain killers for me to take for 5 days. The medication worked great because I was at a very minimal pain. His staff walked me through everything I needed from the US to Korea. I felt confident that I was in good hands and I was. The interpreter did a great good Interpreting everything I needed to ask the doctor and addressed all my concerns. I give Saero Plastic Surgery a 5 because they exceeded my expectations. Definitely recommend to everyone.

FAQ about Ear lift surgery in Republic of Korea

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

What are the risks and is ear lift surgery in Korea safe?

Ear lift surgery in Korea is safe. Success rates reach 99% in specialised clinics. Strict KOIHA accreditation and surgeons with international training drive high safety levels. Common risks like swelling or asymmetry can happen. However, severe complications are rare due to precision techniques.

  • Certified facilities: KOIHA accreditation means clinics like Dr. Tak Plastic Surgery meet international safety standards.
  • Expert surgeons: Specialists like Dr. Yong Woo Kim have performed 1,000+ procedures with surgical precision.
  • Revision planning: Approximately 10% of patients require minor touch-ups to achieve perfect ear symmetry.
  • Monitoring: Modern theatres use real-time systems to track patient vitals during the procedure.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Korea ranks third globally for medical tourism volume. This means surgeons handle more cases than most Western peers. Dr. Yong Woo Kim practises at Returning Plastic Surgery. He achieved the top resident board exam score in the country. This high-volume environment makes doctors experts in cartilage sculpting and complex facial anatomy.

Patient Consensus: Patients value the precision of Korean surgeons but suggest confirming who performs the surgery. Comprehensive pre-surgery exams are standard. Having an interpreter helps clarify wound care steps during recovery.

How long do the results of ear lift surgery in Korea last?

Ear lift surgery results in South Korea are generally permanent. Surgeons restructure the ear cartilage and use long-lasting internal sutures to maintain the new position indefinitely. Final settled results typically appear within 3 to 6 months after the initial swelling and tissue changes subside.

  • Permanent reshaping: Surgical techniques physically alter the cartilage to prevent ears from protruding again.
  • Structural stability: Permanent internal sutures hold the new ear fold securely in place for life.
  • Settling period: Results often look over-corrected initially before settling naturally over 3 to 6 months.
  • Scar maturation: Incision lines behind the ears gradually fade over 6 to 12 months.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Basic otoplasty is permanent. However, some Korean clinics offer thread-based ear lifts that may lose tension over time. Patients should confirm their surgeon uses cartilage-reshaping techniques rather than temporary threads for lifelong results. For example, Dr Yong Woo Kim has performed 1,000+ procedures.

Patient Consensus: Initial results are visible immediately. However, the final South Korean look only emerges after the ears settle for several months. Patients found scars were sensitive at first but faded well. Many suggest staying in Seoul for early follow-ups while the cartilage is still healing.

What is the difference between an ear lift and otoplasty in Korea?

Otoplasty in Korea is a structural surgery that pins or reshapes ear cartilage to correct protruding ears. An ear lift typically refers to earlobe reduction or aesthetic contouring. It tightens sagging skin and repairs enlarged lobes. Both procedures are performed in specialised Seoul clinics like Dr. Tak Plastic Surgery.

  • Surgical scope: Otoplasty addresses the entire ear structure. Ear lifts focus specifically on the earlobe.
  • Main goals: Otoplasty corrects prominent ears. Ear lifts treat drooping lobes caused by ageing or heavy jewellery.
  • Procedural technique: Board-certified surgeons like Dr Seung-hyung Noh use cartilage scoring or sparing for otoplasty.
  • Recovery needs: Patients wear a protective headband after otoplasty. Earlobe surgery requires minimal downtime and simple sutures.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While otoplasty costs from $2,600 to $5,500, ear lifts can reach Price on request . This price difference often reflects the complexity of the 16-storey Seoul Miz Hospital and similar centres. They offer regenerative techniques alongside standard surgery.

Patient Consensus: Otoplasty is a permanent structural change in Republic of Korea. It requires several weeks of careful sleeping and headband use to protect the delicate results.

How long does recovery after ear lift surgery in Korea take?

Recovery after ear lift surgery in Korea takes about 14 days for initial healing. Most patients return to work or school within 2 weeks once bandages are removed. Swelling and bruising subside by 1 month. However, final ear positioning and cartilage stabilisation require 3 to 6 months.

  • Hospital stay: Most patients are mobile within 48 hours but remain in Korea for 14 days.
  • Suture removal: Specialists typically remove stitches around day 8 to 12 after the procedure.
  • Protective headband: Patients wear a soft headband 24/7 for 2 weeks to protect the cartilage.
  • Activity limits: Heavy exercise and contact sports are generally avoided for 4 to 6 weeks.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Clinics in Seoul often include a 14-day aftercare plan that goes beyond basic check-ups. This two-week schedule includes specialised treatments like hyperbaric oxygen therapy to resolve swelling faster. Staying for the full second week provides the best aesthetic result. During this time, the ears begin their initial settling.

Patient Consensus: Recovery in Korea is more about pressure and sleep positioning than severe pain. Ears often look very pinned back initially. However, they soften into a natural shape by 3 months. Plan for 2 weeks of downtime. This time helps manage head pressure and swelling before returning to social activities.

Can I have ear lift surgery while on holiday in Korea?

Patients can have ear lift surgery while on holiday in the Republic of Korea. However, it requires specific scheduling. Surgeons typically perform otoplasty or earlobe repair under local anaesthesia in Seoul clinics. Recovery needs at least 7 days in-country for stitch removal and follow-up monitoring.

  • Surgical duration: Otoplasty usually takes 2–3 hours. Smaller earlobe repairs take less time.
  • Clinical accreditation: Many facilities like Dr. Tak Plastic Surgery hold KOIHA (Korean Institute for Healthcare Accreditation).
  • Support services: Seoul Miz Hospital operates an International Patient Centre for English-speaking coordination.
  • Mandatory rest: Patients must avoid sleeping on their ears and wear a protective headband.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While many think of Seoul for facial work, ear procedures are specialised. They are not advertised by every clinic. Clinics like Dr. Tak Plastic Surgery often have higher international patient volumes. This makes them better equipped to handle Australian travel schedules. Surgery costs range from Price on request to Price on request , offering significant value compared to the _price_compare_AU_average_ Australian average.

Patient Consensus: Patients in the Republic of Korea recommend using a doughnut pillow. This helps them sleep comfortably during the initial swelling phase. Patients should plan for 3 follow-up appointments. They should also use KakaoTalk for fast clinic communication before flying.

Are there specialised doctors for ear lift surgery in Korea?

South Korea hosts plastic surgeons specialising in otoplasty, earlobe lifts, and reconstructive ear surgery. Renowned specialists in Seoul, particularly within the Gangnam district, perform over 1,000 procedures each. These surgeons hold board certifications. They have won major awards from the Korean Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons.

  • Expert practitioners: Dr. Yong Woo Kim at Returning Plastic Surgery has performed 1,000+ operations.
  • Clinical standards: Dr. Tak Plastic Surgery holds KOIHA accreditation. This means strict safety for Australians.
  • Specialised techniques: Local surgeons offer ear pinning, saggy earlobe reduction, and complex microtia reconstruction.
  • Academic excellence: Top specialists like Dr. Seung-hyung Noh trained at Columbia University in New York.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While many Seoul clinics list ear surgery, few focus on it exclusively. Data shows top-rated specialists like Dr. Yong Woo Kim achieve superior results. This is because they combine ear reshaping with facial rejuvenation. Choosing a KOIHA-accredited facility means the clinic meets government-monitored safety standards.

Patient Consensus: Patients in the Republic of Korea suggest choosing larger Seoul hospitals for niche ear conditions. They recommend confirming the lead surgeon performs the entire procedure. Most people find that board-certified specialists provide the most natural symmetry.
