How Much Does Da Vinci Robotic System Cost in Republic of Korea in AUD?

In the Republic of Korea, the Da Vinci Robotic System typically costs from AUD $17,254 to AUD $28,037. Final pricing depends on the surgical complexity, the hospital's digital infrastructure, and the specific tier of the medical centre. Australians save approximately 30% compared to local private costs, where the average price is AUD $32,350. Packages generally cover the surgery, hospital stays, and pre-operative tests.

  • Hospital tier: Presidential-standard or university hospitals in Seoul typically charge 10–20% more than regional centres.
  • Technology premium: Robotic assistance usually adds 20–30% to the cost of standard laparoscopic surgical methods.
  • Surgical complexity: Procedures like prostatectomy or nephrectomy naturally command higher fees than simpler fibroid removals.
  • Location: Healthcare costs in Seoul and Incheon reflect the high concentration of advanced robotic expertise.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Choosing Seoul for robotic surgery provides access to clinics like Severance Hospital, a pioneer in Asian robotics. Their high volume of cases often translates to better value, as seen with specialists like Dr. Kim Young Tae. While university hospitals charge a premium, the BESTcare digital system at SNUBH significantly reduces error risks, offering peace of mind that justifies the slightly higher investment.

"I am very happy for getting to know BOOKIMED, professionals really work there, and most importantly, they are not indifferent people
I have breast cancer and I went through chemotherapy in Moscow. Six sessions have passed. It was very difficult to tolerate these procedures. A doctor in Kazakhstan said that this is enough, it is necessary to switch to tableted chemistry. And Moscow offered to continue doing chemotherapy. Opinions are divided. It was necessary to find a third party. I accidentally found your site on the Internet. Ekaterina Koliko wrote very quickly. The benevolence of Katyusha was immediately arranged towards her. She asked me what I would like to go to. I said that I want to go to the Severance clinic in Korea. Katyusha approved my choice. I sent all the necessary documents and Katyusha quickly redirected everything to the clinic. They began to wait for the invitation. For some reason (and for what I already knew in the clinic), there was no invitation. I am very grateful to Katyusha that she was in touch all the time, supported me, gave me hope. We arrived in Seoul in the morning, we were met by a transfer, brought to the hotel. After lunch, they were already in the clinic, I began to take tests. Constantly with me was one of the translators. Girls translators are great fellows, these are Lida, Olesya, Sofia, Tatyana, Alena. Any question could be addressed, they always prompted. They are professionals. Always with a smile, polite, with enormous patience, and most importantly, they understand that they work with a special audience, with people who did not come to rest. Someone to find out the diagnosis, and someone to do the operation. Thank you so much to the girls. The clinic was impressive. Doctors are professionals. The equipment is super. I got the opinion of a third party, it coincided with the opinion of a doctor from Kazakhstan. I was prescribed a prescription, I bought medicines at the pharmacy and started drinking on arrival home. I also want to write about Darina, who was engaged in transfer (the transfer to the clinic was very convenient and met and carried out), the selection of the hotel was also always in touch, and if I had any questions, she quickly answered them. I want to say that I am very happy for getting to know BOOKIMED, professionals really work there, and most importantly, they are not indifferent people. I am grateful to the Almighty and all who were near me. And the words of the doctor gave me inspiration and inspired great hope, for the sake of these words it was worth a long way to go. Once again, many thanks to all.

My recommendations to friends, acquaintances only this Clinic! The prices are reasonable
Good day! I would like to share my impressions of being in the clinic. Thanks to the coordinators, the staff of the international clinic center, all wishes were taken into account. Special thanks to the attending physician, the procedure was perfect, the staff is very attentive, courteous. They are located in a 5-bed room, but at the same time there is no discomfort, food can be chosen taking into account personal taste preferences (Korean, European cuisine) and at the same time satisfying and varied. I can say one thing, there is no limit to my gratitude, my recommendations to friends, acquaintances only this Clinic! The prices are reasonable.

"The results were unbelievably positive!"
The staff is nice, but everything is on stream, as it does not take my problem seriously, as much as I would like! After my husband insistently said that it would be necessary to do so, so this, then after that we were heard.

FAQ about Da Vinci Robotic System in Republic of Korea

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

What are the benefits of Da Vinci robotic surgery in South Korea?

South Korea's Da Vinci robotic surgery offers exceptional precision. It provides minimally invasive outcomes for oncology, urology, and gynaecology. Costs start from _op_124_price_. Patients benefit from 3D high-definition visualisation. Robotic arms eliminate hand tremors, leading to faster recovery and smaller scars.

  • Technological leadership: Seoul centres like Samsung Medical Centre frequently use the latest da Vinci 5 models.
  • Reduced trauma: Robotic instruments allow tiny incisions, which often let patients shower the next day.
  • Proven oncology outcomes: Leading hospitals maintain high survival rates, such as 91.9% for breast cancer surgery.
  • Specialised expertise: Surgeons like Dr Kim Young Tae at Severance Hospital specialise in robotic-assisted gynaecological oncology.

Bookimed Expert Insight: South Korea possesses an unusually high density of robotic systems across Seoul. Severance Hospital pioneered the technology in 2005. However, smaller specialist clinics now hold Bookimed Patient Choice Awards for robotic prostate and fibroid treatments. This competition keeps costs from $12,000 to $19,500. These costs are significantly lower than the $22,500 average in Australia.

Patient Consensus: Patients in South Korea appreciate being able to walk within hours. They also like the nearly invisible scarring from tiny incisions. They note that robotic systems allow more accurate cuts. These systems also significantly lower the risk of nerve damage or infection.

What types of surgeries does the Da Vinci robotic system in South Korea perform?

South Korean medical centres use the da Vinci robotic system for complex, minimally invasive surgeries. These cover urology, oncology, and gynaecology. Major Seoul-based clinics such as Severance Hospital and Samsung Medical Center specialise in robotic prostatectomies, scarless thyroidectomies, and colorectal procedures. These have high success rates.

  • Oncological surgery: Specialists perform robotic-assisted removal of prostate, kidney, and bladder tumours.
  • Gynaecological care: Surgeons like Dr Kim Young Tae use robotic systems for hysterectomies.
  • Single-port surgery: da Vinci SP systems allow complex procedures through one belly button incision.
  • Head and neck: TORS techniques remove throat tumours without visible external incisions on the neck.
  • Thoracic procedures: Robotic assistance enables lung resections and cardiac repairs with 1–3 day hospital stays.

Bookimed Expert Insight: South Korea has pioneered single-port robotic surgery. Clinics like Yonseisarangmoa use the da Vinci system for uterine fibroid treatment. This technique hides scars within the umbilicus. These procedures cost from $12,000 to $19,500. However, they still represent approximately 61% savings compared to Australian averages.

Patient Consensus: Patients value how robotic surgery in South Korea allows next-day discharge and nearly invisible scarring. They often recommend using silicone scar strips early to help incisions fade completely.

Which medical departments in South Korea use the Da Vinci robotic system the most?

General surgery and urology departments use the Da Vinci robotic system most extensively in South Korea. Specialist centres like Samsung Medical Centre and Severance Hospital lead in volume, particularly for gastrointestinal cancers and radical prostatectomies. Gynaecology shows the fastest growth through single-port technologies.

  • General surgery: Accounts for 54.9% of usage, focusing on gastrointestinal and abdominal cancers.
  • Urology: Represents 33% of procedures, primarily for precise radical prostatectomies and kidney surgeries.
  • Gynaecology: Leading high-volume department for hysterectomies, often using the Da Vinci SP system.
  • Single-port access: Surgeons perform hysterectomies through a 2 cm belly-button incision for minimal scarring.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While general surgery has the highest total volume, South Korea has become a global leader in single-port (SP) gynaecology. At specialised centres like Yonseisarangmoa, 30% of non-cancerous hysterectomies now use this tech. This is a much higher adoption rate than in Australia.

Patient Consensus: Patients in South Korea report faster recovery and minimal pain with the single-port belly-button technique. They appreciate the 2 cm scar that becomes virtually invisible after several weeks.

Where are the best places in South Korea for Da Vinci robotic surgery?

Seoul houses the best facilities for Da Vinci robotic surgery. Severance Hospital pioneered the technology in Korea and maintains one of Asia’s largest robotic teams. Samsung Medical Center and Asan Medical Center are global leaders in oncology and urology. They perform over 45,000 surgeries annually across multidisciplinary departments.

  • Severance Hospital: Features specialised robotic centres for oncologists like Dr Kim Young Tae.
  • Samsung Medical Center: Provides presidential-standard care with high-volume robotic cancer and urology departments.
  • Asan Medical Center: Operates the largest multidisciplinary facility and leads in robotic organ transplants.
  • SNU Hospital: Achieves 91.9% breast cancer survival rates using digital surgical systems.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While university hospitals dominate complex cases, boutique facilities like Yonseisarangmoa specialise in women’s health. They hold multiple patient choice awards specifically for robotic prostate and gynaecology procedures. This is a smart alternative for patients wanting specialised care. It is outside the large-scale hospital environment.

Patient Consensus: Focus on the surgeon’s experience with the robot rather than just the clinic name. Patients in Korea report nearly undetectable scarring. They appreciate the precision for complex cancer surgeries.
