"I am very happy for getting to know BOOKIMED, professionals really work there, and most importantly, they are not indifferent people
I have breast cancer and I went through chemotherapy in Moscow. Six sessions have passed. It was very difficult to tolerate these procedures. A doctor in Kazakhstan said that this is enough, it is necessary to switch to tableted chemistry. And Moscow offered to continue doing chemotherapy. Opinions are divided. It was necessary to find a third party. I accidentally found your site on the Internet. Ekaterina Koliko wrote very quickly. The benevolence of Katyusha was immediately arranged towards her. She asked me what I would like to go to. I said that I want to go to the Severance clinic in Korea. Katyusha approved my choice. I sent all the necessary documents and Katyusha quickly redirected everything to the clinic. They began to wait for the invitation. For some reason (and for what I already knew in the clinic), there was no invitation. I am very grateful to Katyusha that she was in touch all the time, supported me, gave me hope. We arrived in Seoul in the morning, we were met by a transfer, brought to the hotel. After lunch, they were already in the clinic, I began to take tests. Constantly with me was one of the translators. Girls translators are great fellows, these are Lida, Olesya, Sofia, Tatyana, Alena. Any question could be addressed, they always prompted. They are professionals. Always with a smile, polite, with enormous patience, and most importantly, they understand that they work with a special audience, with people who did not come to rest. Someone to find out the diagnosis, and someone to do the operation. Thank you so much to the girls. The clinic was impressive. Doctors are professionals. The equipment is super. I got the opinion of a third party, it coincided with the opinion of a doctor from Kazakhstan. I was prescribed a prescription, I bought medicines at the pharmacy and started drinking on arrival home. I also want to write about Darina, who was engaged in transfer (the transfer to the clinic was very convenient and met and carried out), the selection of the hotel was also always in touch, and if I had any questions, she quickly answered them. I want to say that I am very happy for getting to know BOOKIMED, professionals really work there, and most importantly, they are not indifferent people. I am grateful to the Almighty and all who were near me. And the words of the doctor gave me inspiration and inspired great hope, for the sake of these words it was worth a long way to go. Once again, many thanks to all.

My recommendations to friends, acquaintances only this Clinic! The prices are reasonable
Good day! I would like to share my impressions of being in the clinic. Thanks to the coordinators, the staff of the international clinic center, all wishes were taken into account. Special thanks to the attending physician, the procedure was perfect, the staff is very attentive, courteous. They are located in a 5-bed room, but at the same time there is no discomfort, food can be chosen taking into account personal taste preferences (Korean, European cuisine) and at the same time satisfying and varied. I can say one thing, there is no limit to my gratitude, my recommendations to friends, acquaintances only this Clinic! The prices are reasonable.

"The results were unbelievably positive!"
The staff is nice, but everything is on stream, as it does not take my problem seriously, as much as I would like! After my husband insistently said that it would be necessary to do so, so this, then after that we were heard.

FAQ about Chemotherapy for testicular cancer in Republic of Korea

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

What is the success rate of testicular cancer treatment in South Korea?

South Korea reports a 95% relative 5-year survival rate for testicular cancer. This ranks among the highest globally. This success stems from cisplatin-based chemotherapy protocols and surgical techniques at JCI-accredited Seoul centres. These include Severance Hospital and Seoul National University Hospital.

  • Early-stage outcomes: Stage 1–2 cases typically achieve a 96% 5-year survival rate.
  • Relapse management: Early detection of relapse maintains a cure rate of nearly 99%.
  • Specialised centres: Severance Hospital partners with MD Anderson to provide high-level oncology care.
  • Treatment protocols: Oncologists use gold-standard BEP regimens (Bleomycin, Etoposide, Cisplatin) for consistent results.
  • Clinical volume: Seoul National University Hospital serves 30,000 international patients from 80 countries.

Bookimed Expert Insight: South Korea's oncology dominance is driven by extreme specialisation. Severance Hospital alone performs over 4,000 robotic surgeries annually. For metastatic cases, these high-volume centres offer better outcomes. This is because surgeons and oncologists manage rare urogenital complications daily.

Patient Consensus: Patients treated in South Korea value the efficiency of cisplatin-based protocols. They also value comprehensive follow-up plans. Many suggest focusing on long-term recovery support for side effects rather than worrying about recurrence.

What types of chemotherapy are used for testicular cancer in South Korea?

Oncologists in South Korea use international standard platinum-based regimens for testicular cancer. Treatment typically involves Bleomycin, Etoposide, and Cisplatin (BEP) or Etoposide and Cisplatin (EP). Major Seoul centres like Asan Medical Center and Severance Hospital specialise in these intensive protocols. They are used for metastatic and high-risk cases.

  • Primary regimens: BEP or EP combinations serve as standard first-line therapies.
  • Salvage therapy: VIP or TIP used if the cancer returns or resists treatment.
  • Stage 1 seminoma: Single-agent Carboplatin often follows surgery to prevent relapse.
  • Advanced care: High-dose chemotherapy with stem cell transplants manages aggressive cases.

Bookimed Expert Insight: South Korean oncology units are unique for their extreme digitisation and high patient volumes. Seoul National University Bundang Hospital was the country's first digital facility. This tech integration allows for precise monitoring of drug toxicities. This is vital when managing the lung risks associated with Bleomycin.

Patient Consensus: Patients find that Korean clinics strictly follow global BEP guidelines. They also provide intensive nausea management. The availability of 24/7 interpreters in Seoul makes navigating complex chemotherapy schedules much easier.

What should I prepare for chemotherapy for testicular cancer treatment in South Korea?

Preparation for testicular cancer chemotherapy in South Korea requires medical, logistical, and physical readiness. Patients should prioritise fertility preservation through sperm banking. They should also gather all pathology slides and tumour marker results. Major Seoul centres like Severance Hospital and Asan Medical Center provide intensive BEP regimen protocols. These centres have English-speaking oncology support.

  • Fertility preservation: Arrange sperm banking before chemotherapy starts to protect future reproductive options.
  • Medical records: Bring pathology slides, surgical reports, and recent AFP/HCG tumour marker results.
  • Dental clearance: Complete dental check-ups before treatment to prevent infections during immunosuppression.
  • Inpatient stays: Prepare for 3–5 day hospital stays per cycle during BEP infusions.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Seoul National University Hospital handles 30,000 international patients annually and provides 24/7 interpreter services. This level of support is vital because Korean oncology protocols are fast-paced. Patients should confirm if their clinic offers artificial bladder instillation or nerve-sparing techniques. This is important if surgery is also required.

Patient Consensus: Secure strong anti-nausea medication like Zofran early. Keep small snacks available to avoid an empty stomach. Bring warm clothing for cold sensitivity. Use video games or books to pass time during the 5-day treatment cycles in South Korea.
