In the questionnaire, there was a question regarding my health concerns which I responded to. I feel that those concerns were not visited with any doctors. I liked the speed of the procedures and professionalism of the program staff. But it felt like I was on a factory line, too robot-like. Wish I had known that I could keep my phone with me. I saw others using phones while waiting to get in to exam rooms but I did not now we were allowed to have phone on us.

Excellent service. Initially, I had a doubt this platform was real. But I learned to trust it. Still I have doubts in the back of my mind especially when I provide personal info that are sensitive.

The stay was as usual with the expectation, I can not say anything about trust, because we just had a survey. I can’t write anything about the ward since we were in the clinic where they were conducting the examination. All medicine is put on stream. But in any case, I am sure that medicine is at a high level. I went through the basic package, I was satisfied with whether or not I can not even say.

The rest I liked everything
Good evening! In the Severance clinic itself, I liked everything. Everything is very organized. Polite clinic staff. There was one caveat. Nobody told me that preparations for a colonoscopy will be delivered to the hotel. If I hadn’t come to Severance hospital the day before, I’ve found a girl who speaks Russian. She phoned the clinic and explained that the package should wait at the hotel. A. So I would not be prepared on the appointed day. The rest I liked everything. I plan to come to you in a year. Thanks for all !!

FAQ about Medical check-up in Republic of Korea

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

Do I need to speak Korean to get a medical check-up in the Republic of Korea?

You do not need to speak Korean to get a medical check-up in South Korea. Major Seoul hospitals specifically design international clinics for English speakers. These centres provide multilingual staff and English-language health reports. Professional interpreters guide patients through every diagnostic station during their screening.

  • English-speaking staff: Modern facilities like Samsung Medical Center provide dedicated coordinators for English-speaking foreigners.
  • Multilingual support: Centres like Wonjin Plastic Surgery Clinic offer direct communication through English-speaking staff.
  • Professional reporting: Specialised screening hubs provide results by email in English as standard for international patients.
  • Guided navigation: Staff at stations guide patients through screenings, often completing full-body exams in one day.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While many centres claim English support, clinics with KOIHA accreditation demonstrate a higher standard of systematic care. Examples include Na-Eun Hospital and Gibbeum General Hospital. Data shows these hospitals often handle check-ups for patients from over 50 countries. This results in refined, predictable protocols for foreigners. Choosing a KOIHA-certified facility typically ensures the smoothest administrative experience for Australians.

Patient Consensus: Patients report the process is incredibly efficient. Kind translators professionally manage it and explain every step. Many were relieved to find they did not need a separate interpreter. The clinic staff handled all communication clearly.

Are medical check-up results provided in English for tourists in the Republic of Korea?

Major South Korean hospitals provide medical check-up results in English for tourists. Leading facilities in Seoul and Incheon offer comprehensive translated reports. These include imaging results and specialist notes. Dedicated international centres handle these requests. This means patients can share documents with hometown GPs.

  • Report delivery: Final English results are usually emailed within 1 to 2 weeks.
  • Support staff: Clinics like Returning Plastic Surgery offer multilingual support in English and Chinese.
  • On-site translation: Major centres provide interpreters to explain clinical findings during the appointment.
  • Accredited quality: Institutions such as Samsung Medical Center maintain KOIHA and ISO quality standards.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Quality check-up centres in Seoul often provide immediate preliminary results on the same day. For example, Gibbeum General Hospital performs gastroscopy and colonoscopy with same-day removal of polyps. This efficiency allows tourists to complete both screening and minor interventions in one visit. It saves time and reduces return trips for results.

Patient Consensus: Patients note the process is very smooth and organised in South Korea. While some areas feel fast-paced, staff are professional and clear about medical processes. Those using international centres appreciate having interpreters who explain everything directly to them. This provides great peace of mind during the recovery phase.

What do basic and comprehensive medical check-ups in the Republic of Korea include?

Basic medical check-ups in the Republic of Korea cover essential physical exams, blood work, and chest X-rays. These screen for common lifestyle diseases. Comprehensive packages add imaging like CT scans, MRIs, and sedated endoscopies. These allow detailed assessments of cancer and organ function in high-tech facilities.

  • Basic health screening: Includes body composition, blood pressure, urinalysis, and liver or kidney function tests.
  • Premium diagnostic imaging: Features low-dose CT scans, carotid ultrasounds, and MRI for early disease detection.
  • Endoscopy services: Offers one-stop gastroscopy and colonoscopy with same-day polypectomy to remove detected polyps.
  • Specialised panels: Provides gender-specific exams including prostate ultrasounds for men and mammography for women.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Major Seoul centres like Samsung Medical Center use integrated digital systems to share CT and MRI results in real-time. This efficiency allows patients to complete comprehensive screenings, including specialist consultations, in under five hours. It is ideal for Australians on tight travel schedules.

Patient Consensus: Patients in the Republic of Korea appreciate the robotic efficiency and professional staff that keep the process moving quickly. They recommend confirming if items like endoscopy sedation are bundled. Some centres treat these as optional extras.

How long does a medical check-up in the Republic of Korea take?

A comprehensive medical check-up in the Republic of Korea typically takes between 2 and 5 hours. Basic screenings finish in under 2 hours. Packages including endoscopies or imaging like MRI usually require 4 to 6 hours. Preliminary results are often available the same day.

  • Basic screening: Completed in under 2 hours for standard blood and physical tests.
  • Comprehensive check-up: Requires 3 to 5 hours for standard diagnostic tests.
  • Diagnostics including colonoscopy or gastroscopy: Takes 4 to 6 hours.
  • Results timeline: Preliminary findings arrive within 2 hours; full reports take 1 to 2 weeks.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Major Seoul hospitals handle massive volumes. For example, Samsung Medical Center serves 2 million outpatients annually. Despite this, efficiency remains remarkably high. Data shows that large centres often perform same-day polypectomies during screenings. This eliminates the need for a separate surgical appointment. Patients save time by choosing centres like Gibbeum General Hospital. It focuses on one-stop gastroscopy and colonoscopy services.

Patient Consensus: Patients note the process is incredibly fast and organised. It feels like a professional and efficient diagnostic assembly line. They appreciate clear communication from staff. They also value the convenience of getting scans and having results reviewed within a single morning in Seoul.

Can I get a same-day endoscopy with polypectomy during a medical check-up in the Republic of Korea?

Patients can receive a same-day endoscopy with polypectomy in the Republic of Korea. Many specialised health centres, such as Gibbeum General Hospital, provide this one-stop service during comprehensive medical check-ups. Specialists remove small polyps immediately if detected during gastroscopy or colonoscopy procedures.

  • Clinical capability: Gibbeum General Hospital has performed 150,000+ endoscopy procedures with same-day removal.
  • Advanced expertise: Specialists like Dr Min Jung Park perform complex colonoscopies and polypectomies.
  • Anaesthesia comfort: Most centres use conscious sedation, so the entire procedure remains painless.
  • Prep protocol: Patients must complete bowel cleansing the day before the scheduled colonoscopy.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Korean medical centres like Samsung Medical Center handle massive volumes, including over 45,000 annual surgeries. This high frequency means doctors often encounter and remove polyps that might be missed elsewhere. Patients should confirm their flight date first, as some doctors advise against immediate removal if flying within 7 days for safe recovery.

Patient Consensus: Patients in the Republic of Korea report a highly efficient, factory-like speed where polyps are found and removed quickly. The process is smooth and professional, though some suggest keeping your phone handy to manage wait times between different screening stations.

How can I avoid 'tourist markups' when choosing a medical check-up clinic in the Republic of Korea?

Avoid inflated 'tourist markups' by choosing KOIHA-accredited centres like Gibbeum General Hospital or Na-Eun Hospital. These institutions serve thousands of local residents annually at standard rates. Australian patients should select residential districts like Incheon or Gangnam sub-districts. They offer fair pricing compared to primary tourist hubs.

  • Localised centres: Gibbeum General Hospital serves locals and international patients with transparent, one-stop endoscopy services.
  • Certified quality: KOIHA-accredited clinics like Na-Eun Hospital meet international safety standards without premium tourist fees.
  • Transparent pricing: Basic check-ups in Korea typically range from Price on request to Price on request .
  • Radiology expertise: Centres like KMI Gangnam Center have dedicated specialists. Dr Jae Hong Yoon, for instance, contributes to diagnostic accuracy.

Bookimed Expert Insight: High-volume university hospitals like Samsung Medical Center treat over 2,000,000 outpatients annually. Their massive scale often means competitive rates on imaging like CT and MRI. This high throughput means doctors see virtually every case type. This provides diagnostic precision that smaller boutique clinics cannot match.

Patient Consensus: Patients note the surgical efficiency of Korean centres. Polyps are removed immediately during screenings. The process can feel fast and professional. However, clear communication with the technician and surgeon provides peace of mind during recovery.
